Transfer content from iPhone to new computer

My new laptop's hard drive crashed, leaving me with a blank slate in regards to iTunes. However, I still have all of my content on my iPhone. How might I transfer all my content onto my laptop from my iPhone, without using Home sharing, as all of my media files were wiped out?

If you haven't shelled out for a third party app yet see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. There is a no cost way of retrieving the media. It may require more effort on your part to extract the media and any metadata that you want but it might even do a better job. Last three entries in the table in particular.

how to transfer music from iphone to new computer

iTunes will transfer your purchases from your iPhone to your new computer by using File>Transfer Purchases. For the rest of the content that’s on your iPhone use a program called TouchCopy which works on Windows and the Mac. It transferred my music, photos, contacts and SMS to my new computer very well.

  • Transfer music from iphone to new computer

purchased a new laptop and I want to tranfer my music from the iphone to the new laptop witha  blank itunes.  I've tried a syncing the phone and it warns me the iphone data will be erased.  Not cool.  Any suggestions?  The old computer is dead and I can't access the data.

This cannot be done (by design) without third party software, which may or may not be a violation of the iTunes license agreement. Try googling "Senuti".

"Paired"?  I think you are saying you were trying to use Bluetooth to do this transfer.  That will not work.
Instead, try one of these two methods:
    1.  Use iCloud to contain the contacts.  Then set both the iPad and iPhone up to reference the iCloud contacts.
    2.  Sync the iPhone using iTunes on your computer.  Then sync the iPad using the same iTunes.
(This may or may not work depending on what you use to house the contacts.)

How to transfer music from iPhone to new Windows 7 PC?

Your iPhone is not a backup/storage device. You can transfer music from iPhone to iTunes: go to ~/Music/iTunes in your previous account (I presume you mean that you made a "new account" on your Mac) and copy all its contents to somewhere in your new account (not ~/Music/iTunes). Then drag the entire iTunes folder onto the iTunes app icon.

Old computer was windows XP, new computer is Windows Vista. Get transfer, but it is gibberish of some sort. I don't know what generation ipod. It is a video ipod with wheel and 30GB. It does say version 1.3 for itunes and model MA446LL. Any help?

If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • How to transfer iMessage content from old to new computer?

Just bought a new laptop and was manually transfering files. I wanted to know if you guys have any way of bringing the iMessage content from my old Macbook Pro to my new one, so that when I open iMessage on my new laptop, all my old convo's will be there.
I have accessed the hidden iMessage folder on my old computer and tried transfering that, but it didn't really work.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
In Mountain Lion the Folder to start with is ~/Library/Messages (NOT iMessages)
This holds the Archive folder for all saved Chats (iMessages and Buddy list chats)
It also has several chat.db items.
The database items can be "transferred" to the the new Mac in the same Folder.
You are likely to have to change Ownership and Permissions on each. (this applies even if you are "Peter Kassel" on both computers  as one computer can tell the file "belongs" somewhere else).
The Archive folder needs to end up in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ichat/Data/Library/Messages
You will need to replace the Archive folder already there and change Ownership and Permissions again AND then apply those changes to the contents.
    Open a Finder window
Use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library from the Menu.
    Navigate to ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ichat/Data/Library/Messages
Move the Archive folder into the Messages folder.
Now Right Click the Archive Folder and choose the "Get Info " option
In the Info Panel that shows up scroll to the bottom.
Add the Shortname for your Mac User Account on this computer.
Give it Read and Write permissions.
Use the cogwheel icon below the list and then make your self the owner.
In this  pic I already Own the file/folder.
As you can see I have had to unlock the padlock as well.
Once you are the Owner use the "Apply to enclosed items"
This will then change the ownership of all the Saved chats to your User account on this Mac.
Repeat for the ~/Library/Messages contents (the databases) one by one.
You will not have to do the contents change on this.

  • Transfer old and new music from iphone to new computer account?

So my account on my family Mac desktop was malfuntioning -- meaning the apps open would not close, and the loading screen and rainbow cursor would not go away (its been days) therefore i decided to delete my account and create a new one.
My account had everything of mine personal on it and noone elses. I thought that since all of my music was on my phone, i could just transfer all the music back to the computer, once i set up the new account that has nothing on it.
    Its not working.
All the music I have is on my phone and only my phone. It is a mix between computer purchases, phone purchases, and CD's. All on various accounts from the past 7 years ever since i got my first ipod shuffle.
Im really really hoping i can transfer everything back to my computer, because so far its only transferred the songs ive purchased on my phone, nothing else.
And it hasnt asked me for verification or authorization for other accounts or anything.
    Help? Im desperate.

    Most Windows users don't.
Purchase an external hard drive and use the backup software that comes with it to backup files from your computer.
Buy TouchCopy and install it on your new computer, connect your old iPod and transfer your songs to your computer.

  • HT1386 new computer, how do I transfer from Iphone to new computer itunes library?

I purchased a new computer.  Thought I backed up to Itunes before but nothing shows in music library once I log in.  How do I preserve whats on phone to itunes on new computer?

iTunes will only transfer music purchased from iTunes from the phone to your iTunes library.  Music from other sources can only be transferred from your phone to your iTunes library using 3rd pary software such as Touch Copy.  Your only other options would be to re-import this music from other sources (such as CDs) or to copy the entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one, using one of the methods outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527.

  • Old Hard drive crashed, need to transfer music from iPod to new computer

Hello. My old hard drive crashed and I bought a new computer. Unfortunately I did not back up any files from my old computer and lost all files including iTunes music. All I have is the music from my iPod. I would like some help or if anyone knows anything about how to transfer the music from my iPod to my new computer. I guess my new computer is not the original authentic one in the itunes system and will not let me exchange music from my iPod to new computer. I would appreciate help if anyone has ideas. Thank bunches.

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows or a Mac. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.
