  • Transfer CS3 from Win to an iMAC?

Can I transfer my CS3 for Windows to am iMac?

    No.
The Windows serial number is Windows only and will not work on a Mac.
There is a platform swap process (swap a Win serial number to Mac and vice versa) but it only applies to current versions i.e. CS6
Order product | Platform, language swap
As an existing CS3 customer you can join the Adobe Cloud for a discounted price (first 12 months only). Cloud software can be used on both Win and/or Mac for no extra cost.

  • Transfer CS3 from Win to Mac - no upgrade?? really??

    Hi
I've just had a chat with an adobe Rep, and I'm 95% sure that what they told me is wrong (cos it sounds too good to be true!) so thought I'd ask if anyone can verify it....
I have CS3 Design Premium for Windows. I have a Mac on the way, and want to switch.
I was under the impression I'd have to pay to updgrade to CS4, and then switch. But what I was told was that:
    - I send in the letter of destruction and they'll email when effective
    - Apart from that, I just put my install CD in the mac (it works on both) and use my current serial number.
So - no need to upgrade, no cost, no new media - just email over a copy of the letter of destruction.
I've attached a copy of the transcript if anyone's interested.
    Can anyone verify this?
    Thanks
    Kieran

    Cheers
My Mac arrived yesterday, so I put the DVD in (it's a download only version, rather than a shipped box) and there didn't seem to be a Mac installer. In sheer naiveity even tried running setup.exe (!) but no joy.
Other info I've read since does seem to imply that this rep was wrong. Does anyone else know more about the process, or, if the rep was right, how I go about installing from that DVD?
    Cheers - Mac noob...

  • Transfer CS3 licence after an inheritance

    Hello there!
Following situation: I've become an owner of an iMac after an inheritance. Since I'm not an apple fan I would like to sell it on ebay. Because the iMac had some Adobe software (like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.) I would also like to sell those licences. But am I allowed to do it? Since I've inherited the iMac, I also inherited the licences for the software? Can I just use the following form (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/152/tn_15281.html) to transfer the licences?
    Thank you in advice!

"You'll need to prove you own [...]" - is it possible to prove such things with an certificate of inheritance? I also tryed to contact the support team of Adobe and they just said, that is would not be possilbe. An extract of the conversation.
"Vilius, as the actual owner of the product was your aunt. You'll not be able to transfer the product to another person."
"Yes, as the actual owner of the product was your aunt and she had to transfer the product to you or other person."
So allthough it is quite sad, I understood, that in case of death the license also  expires. And it does not really matter, if there was a "[...] seat commercial (non-education) license [...]" (which it was ...). But thanks for trying to help!

  • Cs3-cs4 upgrade clips out of synch

Working on a cs3 PPro project, going very well!  Updated to SC4 to take advantage of its improved 3D modeling capabilities.  However I note that now my sc3 project, once set up in cs4 is now out of synch.  Edits aren't where I placed them - I assumed you could transfer cs3 to cs 4 no problems.

Normally, CS3 Projects do translate to CS4 Projects well. General wisdom is to complete in the version that was used to start, but I see your point on wanting to move up here.
Maybe give the specifics of this Project and its Assets, as there could be something there.
Also, did you Open the CS3 Project into CS4, or did you Import it. Might want to try the other way, depending on what you did.
    Good luck,

  • Help Transferring CS3 Prod Premium to a new computer

I am waiting on a new PC to arrive next week, then I will transfer CS3 from this 4-year-old machine. It sounds like a simple task, but I've seen a few issues raised in this forum. Problems with activations in particular.
I am going from XP 32-bit service pack 3 to Vista 64 bit Ultimate.
What steps can I take in preparation that will keep me out of trouble? As for performance, I have a Core 2 Quad 2.66 MHz, 8 Gigs RAM, and two SATA drives in RAID 0 config. I am considering installing a third SATA drive (or another two-drive setup in RAID) to use as the system drive and using the RAID for video storage.
I also have external drives of various types, i.e., eSATA, Firewire 400/800, and USB2.

Believe me, when somebody says something like, "it's a snap," "it's a simple task" or "it shouldn't be a problem," that's when I start to worry.
My new pc arrived and it's sweet, but I have not installed CS3 yet. CS3 won't fully uninstall from the other machine. Probably because I didn't deactivate first. The bulk of programs are gone, but Encore and a few others are still there. Encore will not open, even before I uninstalled anything. I get a small box with a yellow triangle.
Bridge opens, but there is no place to deactivate from there.
The Windows control panel uninstaller does not work on the CS3 suite.
I put the Install disk back in to re-install everything so I could then do it right, but my compuiter is not responding to the disk beyond the initial page.
I am stuck for now, and I am on my way out the door so I'll work this some more later. I hope to find some advice on here or lead me in the right direction.
    Thanks all
    Alex

  • Advice for updating my older Mac Pro

I have an older Mac Pro running Leopard and I’m starting to have issues with my system running effectively, so I’m making the leap to Snow Leopard and possibly Lion. I’m looking for advice on the best methodology to make the change, suggestions on the best set up, and pitfalls to avoid.
    Current Set Up
    Processor: 2 x 2.66 Ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory: 6 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 FB-DIMM
Drive 1: 750 GB internal, with OS 10.5.8. (230 gb used)
Drive 2: 750 GB internal, non bootable backup for Drive 1(225 gb used)
Drive 3: 1TB internal, Aperture Library (906 gb used)
Drive 4: 1TB internal, Aperture Vault (879 gb used)
Drives 5: 1TB external, backup for safe deposit box (912 gbused)
Drives 6,7,8: 250GB external, varying and redundant backup.
The programs I use more often are MS Office, Photoshop CS3 (not quite ready to upgrade, largely because of the pdf presentation removal in subsequent releases), Aperture 2.0, and now iMovie HD 6 (which has an undiagnosed problem and will not function properly).
    My current thinking is:
    - Ensure back up of Drive 1 on external drives.
    - Erase Drive 2
    - Install Snow Leopard onto “fresh” Drive 2 as start updrive
    - Use migration assistant to transfer user settings to Drive2
    - Transfer programs to Drive 2. Can I use MigrationAssistant to transfer CS3, Aperture, and other programs effectively, or should they be reinstalled from disk? What about plugins?
    - Leave Drive 1 as is to ensure MSOffice (ver X), CS3 and Aperture functionality. Will these programs run on Snow Leopard? I've seen posts about possible issues with Lion. . .
    - Eventually reconfigure backup drives to adequately and effectively utilize available space (my Aperture Library is getting unwieldy and needs reference masters, etc).
As I’m very inexperienced at this, I would appreciate any advice and suggestions.
    Thanks!
    Steve

    SSD Killer-fast Mac Pro
    Upgrade RAM to 16GB (4 x 4GB)
Upgrade all the hard drives to 2TB
    Upgrade to 10.6.8 and CS5.5
Replace graphic card with ATI 5770
Upgrade the processors with X5355s, which is what many are doing now with theirs.
Forget Lion. Dropped PowerPC and Rosetta code support
    Clone your drives.
Keep 40% or more free space on any drive.
Move any non-OS or applications off the boot drive to a data drive.
Move system and apps to SSD
Use SSD(s) for Aperture Library or stripe RAID.
None of the above, sell yours and pick up a 2010 2.8GHz $2100 (people that want or need to run Tiger and PowerPC will likely pay $700 range for MacPro1,1). Upgrade the processor in  2010, with 6-core 3.33GHz $590.
Apple Special Refurbished Mac Pro 2.8GHz Quad
    Intel Xeon W3680 3.33 GHz, SLBV2
    Intel Xeon UP W3680 3.33 GHz Processor - Hexa-core
    W3670 Upgrade photos
At some point, it doesn't make sense to pour money into older system.
But you can, and do it gradually one step at a time.

  • Migrating Adobe Creative Suite

I don't have access to my original CS3 installation disks and I'm wondering if I can transfer CS3 applications (mainly Illustrator & Photoshop) from my Powerbook to my new Imac without the disks?
Would I use the migration assistant for this or am I better off copying them whilst in target mode? If I do this which folders do I need to transfer to make sure the apps work smoothly?
    Any advice much appreciated. Thanks.

You could always try and if it doesn't work uninstall it. But my first response would definitely be to install CS3 as a fresh install just to be sure. It is a Universal Binary Application so it should be able to run once migrated but there are other files else ware in the system that need to go with it. Now if you run the Migration Assistant and transfer all of your User data and Applications all at once then I think you will have a better chance of it getting everything. However if you already did a partial migration then it probably will not get everything. One thing you can check on your PowerBook, Get Info on one of the CS3 Apps and see if it says Kind: Application (Universal). The other files that need to be transfered with the Apps are:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Adobe (The whole folder)
    Macintosh HD/Library/PreferencePanes/VersionCueCS3.prefPane
    Macintosh HD/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax
The problem is both the Version Que and Adobe Unit Types need to be Universal to run and I am unsure if they are installed as Universal or PPC on your old computer. I have never tried doing this going from PPC to Intel.

  • BR3 missing an adjustment slider after installation.

After downloading CS3 to a new Vista 7 computer, a slider adjustment is missing from the basic screen when Bridge is opened to work on CRW photos.  The adjustment missing is:  "Sharper".  It was located above the Vibrance scale.  There is now a box above the Vibrance scale that says "convert to BW" -- it was not there on my previous computer screen.  Can I get the missing slider back?
BR3 is imbedded in my CS3 software; it is not a separate program.

A clearification of the jargon please.   CRW cannon raw.  What is BR3?  I assume Bridge?
Did you transfer CS3 to new computer, or download it from somewhere?  It has not been on the market for years.
What version of ACR are you using?

  • I can't active my bridge

I am gong overseas and prefer not to transfer CS3 activation to my laptop. It appears Bridge does function without activation. Any downside to this? I do not plan to work on any images, just want to view them
    thanks

Probably because it was hacked to unlock it. You updated or restored it, and the activation servers have detected the illegal unlock. The phone can not be activated unless you get it legitimately unlocked by the carrier it was originally locked to.

  • How to transfer the content of the video to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for editing ?

    Hi there,
I have an old video camera that is still working. That video camera uses a Hi 8 tape. The tape is bigger that the current DV tape. The size of the tape is something like a tape cassette.
How to transfer the content of the video to Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 for editing ? Being an old video camera, the output doesn't have any firewire or USB connector. In fact the only output is has is the Yellow, Red & while connector (is this referred to as composite).
So, how do I input this Yellow, Red & White cable into the PC (or rather into Adobe Pro CS3) ?
Any established hardware/convertor to recommend ?
    Thanks

    Ryan,
For "composite out," only you will need an A-D "bridge" to Capture from that camera. Grass Valley/Canopus offers two really good ones, the ADVC-110 and the ADVC-300. There are others and also PCI A-D capture cards, but the Canopus units get very good reviews.
One other workflow would be to hook your older camera to a digital video camera with passthrough (not all have this and it is being discontinued fairly rapidly in consumer cameras) and then doing the Capture through that digital video camera via FireWire. You will not have Device Control, but can easily start/stop via the mouse and one hand on the switches, or on a remote.
    Good luck,

  • How do i transfer a symbol library from .ai cs3 to cs6

how do i transfer a symbol library from .ai cs3 to cs6

You could just copy the ai file to the new folder. All custom symbol libraries are just ai files.
But since CS3 9-slice guides were introduced, so you might want to check your symbols first (if the guides might be applied or if they are correctly not applied - whatever is appropriate)

  • Is it possible to transfer custom web galleries from CS3 to CS5?

Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer my custom web galleries from PS CS3 to Adobe Bridge CS5?

Collections are not a physical directory.  It is kind of like a spreadsheet that tells Bridge where to find the pictures and display them, so you can't just move the folder.
Smart collections are a little easier to transfer, but do not think CS3 had those.
Not an expert here but believe you would first have to have the same computer  and HD so that all the picture loacations are the same.
Then go to User/App Data/Roaming/Adobe/Bridge/Collections and copy file from CS3 and insert into same spot for CS5.
Maybe someone that have done this will jump in and prove me wrong.
