Transfer data to DVD and then to pc

I have a MacBook Pro with Lion OSX and I'm trying to transfer some large directories to my work computer. I wrote it to a dmg on DVD but can't open it on my PC. What should I have done to transfer these files. Thanks,

windows can't read dmg files.
you can search google for dmg to iso converter if you wish.
or you can zip the files through your mac and unzipped them in windows.

How do I save my E-Mail addresses to DVD and then reinstall to my account?

When ever I need to reconfigure, restore or refresh (etc.) my PC system I can (not) find a worthy method to save my E-Mail addresses to DVD and then reinstall them to my 'address book'. Only to DVD (in broken down fashion) and then to my personal documents or downloads, etc. How do I get them (back) to my E-Mail account 'Address Book' ?

What are you trying to save? All you should need is your Thunderbird profile.

This will save all your account settings, messages, folders, address books, filters, extensions and add-ons etc.
Saving ''everything'' is actually easier than trying to pick out just the address book data. If you must, then you're looking for files with a .mab filename extension. You can split a project in two by doing this.
1) Go to the Project Library View.
2) Select your project, and click FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT. Give it a name like "your project name - part 1".
3) Do this again. This time name it "your project name - part 2"
4) Open Part 1 for editing. Delete everything in the second half.
5) Open Part 1 for editing. Delete everything in the first half of the project.
At the end you should have your original project, plus the same project in two parts.

Can we use EPMA to transfer data between HFM application and Essbase cubes on Hyperion version 11.1.1.3?
As far my understanding we can only link HFM and Essbase through EAL.
I would be very keen to know from the audience if we can use EPMA to transfer data between HFM and Essbase

Check epma admin.pdf, page 439. Chapter 19 describes how to synchronize and map data between Hyperion applications, interface tables, and external files via EPMA Data Synchronization.

BPEL or OSB for reading data from db and then writing to another db

Hi All,
I have a requirement of reading the data from a table in one database and then writing into the table in another databas.I dont need any transformation on the data.
I understand that i can do this by creating a BPEL process with DB adapters.
Is there any better way of implementing this.I am new to OSB and If need to use OSB, then how can we do this in OSB and what are the advantages of using OSB over BPEL in implementing this.

probably it would be much easier to develop everything in JDeveloper using DBAdapter.
You can run it inside SOA Suite, but you don't even need BPEL, just use Mediator.
Otherwise you can export all the JCA and WSDL and XSD paraphernalia from JDeveloper and import into OSB, it should run smoothly.
How do you trigger the transfer? Polling the DB to look for new rows?

but didn't sort out the problem. I downloaded, imported and installed Mail Merge. I readed readme.txt and did everything like it is written, but when I click on "Mail Merge" for emp.rtf, I recieve this in my browser: "You are not authorized to view this page".
By the way, the precedure MAIL_MERGE and the function FIND_RTF_HEADER are valid, cause I changed them according to readme.txt.
Do you have any idea why is this happening and are you sure that Mail Merge works with APEX production version, not only with HTMLDB?

To make a table data in ill and then save as PDF

if I want to make kind of table in ill with text data and then exprot/save as.. PDF file, ~2 pages.
How large should I take the new ill document width x height ?
And if I want to make 2 pages on PDF, is it possible ?
And if Im makeing table data, then I shoud use some grid in ill ?

You should know better how large the document must be, since you know, how you want to print it and how much content you need to enter.
You can create multi page documents in many versions of Illustrator. How to do it, depends on your version. The search term would be multipage.
Illustrator doesn't have a table feature. So perhaps using InDesign for the job would be a good idea. You can just draw some lines in Illustrator or you can create tables without any lines. This depends on how you want your tables to look.

Copy our own encrypted DVD and then compress it?

we produced a training video for a local corporation. The initial run was 1500 DVDs, but the client requires another 50 or 60 discs. It is css copy encrypted ;4.64 GBs; and has audio/video folders plus some pdfs and doc files. I believe it was dual layered (can't remember last year). I know we used a dlt b/c we only have single layer burners.
We approached the dup house, but their price is just ridiculous for a small run and we have 5 g5s, ready to burn away.
So, if i use disk utility to make an image and then burn the image, it probably won't fit a single layer DVD? I tried to use popcorn to compress it, but it's only recognizing the video folders.
I guess i need a program which will compress the dmg file (and does that mean the dmg will still be encrypted - something tells me no?)

Hi Kay,
I did what you said and it almost worked. I'm not sure if i compressed the image with popcorn, but it would only do it as 6% (I would have liked to have more choices). But, it seemed to work. I added the video after mounting the new image and then added the pdf and docs.
When I went to burn it, i received a message that some files could not be accessed and wouldn't be included - those files were from the video_ts folder.
Any thoughts?

I need to burn data on to DVD and distribute to PC users. The default format is that of Apple. How can I work around this?

Do the following:
Assemble the files you want to burn in folders on the Desktop.
Insert a blank dick into the optical drive.
Option drag the folders onto the disk on the Desktop.
Drag the disk to the Trash bin in the Dock which will turn into a burn icon to burn the files to the disk.
The disk will be compatible with both Macs and PCs

I have no clue how to get any videos or dvds that I own onto my iPod and Ive searched for software everywhere and have no been able to locate anything that is helping my problem. I have a Mac iBook G4 and I know people with Windows machines that could do this better than I. Please if someone could let me know how to proceed in getting my videos on my iPod I would be extremely grateful. Thank you.

How can I input data from dvd and VHS to iMovie 6?

I am trying to copy excerpts from a dvd that I recorded from a commercial dvd into iMovie for inclusion in a power point presentation. With the dvd in my super drive and using the help menu procecure of 1. Choose File >Import 2. Select the file you want to import 3. Click Open. When I select the dvd icon on my desktop and click Open, I ged a drop down window for importing files for about 20 seconds, but I never have any files presented in the clips squares on iMovie. I get the same results if I drag the dvd icon to the "drag clips her to build your project" strip. Same thing if I drag the icon to the clips squares. However, I never get any data presented in the areas and the play, reverse, review clips buttons. Same thing happens if I try to transfer the file on the dvd (VIDEO_TS) to the same locations. If I try to transfer the seven sub files individually, I get--The file could not be imported: The file “Hard Drive/Volumes/B04101500/VIDEO_TS/VTS_011.VOB” can’t be imported; QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048--. In all these situations there is no data presented in clips or display, but a gray clip area will go blank. This dvd is about 20 minutes in length and is not broken down into scenes in a menu. I recently upgraded to iMovie 6, so I reloaded the program to no avail. I have previously used iMovie 5, but it will not load as long as '6 is loaded.
Since I also have this data on a VHS tape, I tried to recode it through an ADS Tech Pyro A/V Link converter to enter it into iMovie. In the past this was a simple procedure--connect a VCR player to the converter, connect the converter to the firewire port on the iMac, the system profiler automatically recognizes the converter, start iMovie, then Play on the VCR, and press Import on the File menu. That starts the recording in the past. Now I get another drop down window with an "open" button. However, since there is no software for the Mac with the Pyro A/V, there is nothing to open. Has iMovie 6 made these procedures obsolete?? They have worked in the past.

It is not possible to directly import material from a DVD as you are attempting. DVD is MPEG format - iMovie is incompatible with this. In order to use it, you must firstly convert it to DV format. Have a look here:

I have no knowledge of your A/V Link Converter, but if you have a vidcam you can use it to record from VHS to DV tape, and thence into iMovie (there are now problems with the alternative 'pass-through' method using the camera).

My harddrive is full due to 17k of pic in my iphoto. I am trying to copy them onto a dvd and then will delete most of them, but when I try to burn a group of events it won't work. ,y Mac just spits out the blank DVD.

How much space do you have left because maybe the system is unable to cue the burn because is needs to write some data to the hard drive before burning the DVD-R. Download OmniDiskSweeper, this program will give you information on your files and folders and give the opportunity to delete some files. If you have a external hard drive you can just copy your files to the hard drive then delete off you main hard drive.

Homemade movies with chapters question? I have numerous VHS movies converted to DVD and then are converting the DVDs into MP4 via HandBrake. I am now trying to find the chapters within the converted DVDS with no luck using QuickTime 7. Help plz.

I want to get chapters only out of the movie that has 23 chapters so I can edit one chapter at a time. . If you included the chapter information originally contained on the DVD as part of your HandBrake conversion, then it will be located in the "Text" track of your converted file. Did you actually check the "Chapters" tab in HandBrake before converting the DVD content to ensure the chapters were to be included in final export? I.e., not all HandBrake presets automatically include a "Text" (Chapter) track.

I was burning some dvds and then suddenly iDVD days that I have no superdrive.

The System profiler also no longer recognizes any sort of disc writer. I've restarted my computer, and it still doesn't work. How do I fix this? I have a 24 imac from august 2010, the last model of imacs that came in 24-inch models rather than 27.

Is it an old - Tray-loading DVD or is it a new - Slot loading one.
If New Slot loading (just like a narrow slit) - and the disk was about 6 cm in diameter (not 12 as normal Audio-CDs)
Then I would go to an Apple Store and get help - as trying with mild force to get it out - might most probably HARM the DVD-burner/player mechanism. Expencive Repair.
