Transfer from NANO to Library...HELP!!

My computer took a dump... Now I want to save all my songs from my NANO back to my Itunes Libary... Can this been done? If so how? I thought I tried everything!!

I have noticed (ya I am a little slow) that when my ipod is plugged into the USB, and I have itunes open, I can click that sideways arrow on my ipod, and the music and playlists that have transfered to my ipod are there. I can't modify them there, but I can atleast see them and know what has been synced properly.
What does yours show?
Also, I don't know if it just my ipod (me), or all ipods, but in order to have all the music I have selected (checked) synced to my ipod I have to do the following: under the Summary tab I have to select Sync checked songs and video. and under the Music tab check Sync music, and select *All Songs and Playlists*. They click Syn and see if it worked by doing the above, click on your ipod's sideways arrow and brows through your ipod's content.
Hopefully that will help someone...

    Hey DDStoker,
It sounds like you may be experiencing issues with connecting to the iTunes Store. Try using the information in the following article to help you troubleshoot this issue:

  • Songs' library transfer from nano to MacBook Pro

Just bought a macbook pro 13" retina transfering from a 7yr old dell pc realized that only half of the songs in the itunes transfered correctly.  My specific question is:  Is there a best way to transfer all of your songs' library from your ipod nano to the itunes in my macbook pro?   i found similar questions in the forum but date back to 2006 and I would like to have more up to date info..Thanks!!

From your nano to MacBook?  If you still have the Dell, you can also go from Dell  to MacBook...
To answer your question, you cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes (except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store).  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to your Mac.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the songs files are on your MacBook's drive, you can add them to your iTunes library.
NOTE:  For songs purchased by you from the iTunes Store, you can also re-download them at no cost from the iTunes Store Purchased screen.

  • I NEED SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO COPY MUSIC FROM IPOD TO LIBRARY.help:(

My computer crashed and i lost all my music. i read the last topic (the girl has a similar problem to me) so i tried and tried to follow the instructions given to her, but i found it too intense and confusing.
i would like someone to explain the simplest way of transferring music from my Classic to my itunes 7. i desperatley need help on this. iv spent hours on this site trying to make sense of it all but i cant! please help me. I will be very grateful to whoever can help me!!!!
    From, confused and helpless, Isobel.

Hopefully this isn't too intense but you do need to decide what method you want to use at which point it gets simpler. For instance if you pick a utility to make the transfer you carefully read the help pages for the one you choose. If you decide to do it manually you carefully read the article on manual transfer. Take it a paragraph at a time. Each of the blue links will take you to a help page or a web page with more information. Take it slowly and don't panic, there's no need to post continually either, we are all just users like yourself here and you have to wait until someone had free time to help out. Posting every 4 or 5 minutes won't help.
1). First of all you have to get your iPod safely connected to your computer with losing anything. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod
2). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
The transfer of content from sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    Floola Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
3). Finally - Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay.

  • Help - how do I transfer from ipod to library

    Hi all,
I have downloaded itunes onto a new computer and somehow managed to delete the file (when I thought I was transferring it) from the old computer. Therefore I have lost all of my library. I have still got all my music 5000 songs on my ipod and iphone however. So I'm trying to figure out how to get my music from the ipod and import it back into the library, without itunes wiping everything off my ipod (as current library on new computer) only has all my purchased songs. Alot are from cd's, etc...
I hope you can help me.
    Thanks

Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device.  Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software.  A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Transfer from nano ipod to classic ipod

I received a classic ipod for Xmas because I filled my nano. I want to transfer the songs from my nano to my classic. How do I transfer? The songs on my nano are not on my computer.

    Hello Colorado man,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
You'll need to copy the songs from your Nano to your iTunes library first. Once you have done that, you can sync them to your new iPod classic.
Here is an article providing several different methods for copying music from an iPod to a computer. The comments section provides even more suggestions.

  • Music Transfer from Nano to iTunes?

I have music on my Nano that was lost when we lost our computer in a flood (I know...back up....too late now!). I want to get my music from the Nano into the new library. I can not do this. • After updating to most recent version, everything not purchased through store has disappeared from my iTunes library, HELP NEEDED ASAP!!!

I purchased a new laptop in August, running Windows 8 and spent hours importing every CD we own (over 300) to my iTunes library in order to get rid of them and declutter a little. I have had to run iTunes in a compatibility mode set for an older version of Windows in order to sync our iPods, as it doesn't work with Windows 8. A pain but not a major problem.....however, this morning I have updated iTunes and everything that hasn't been purchased through the store has now vanished from my library. Can anyone help me find the rest of my music please?

    You're welcome.
Take a look at the backup technique I mention for the future.

My boyfriend has a Nano and used his uncle's computer in the beginning to add music to it. He no longer has access to that computer and wants to move what's on his Nano to his new computer. Itunes recognizes his nano but won't let him copy anything from it to the Itunes library.

  • Trsnfering from nano to Library

I have just got a nano and I have put some songs from a realtives iTunes onto my iPod. But how do I put the new songs from my nano onto my iTunes Library

don't use some 3rd party application..... with a little finesse you can easily get the songs out of your ipod and onto your computer's hard drive with a single windows option.... it's really simple, but i'm not able to explain it here...... but you should ask my best friend, google... it's so much more fun and rewarding to figure it out yourself, though, i must say....

  • IMac, just had repaired new Harddrive erase deverything, wheres my iPhoto n all those apps, i know the gone from hard drive but i thought they would transfer from my phone

iMac, just had repaired new Harddrive erase deverything, wheres my iPhoto n all those apps, i know the gone from hard drive but i thought they would transfer from my phone? HELP ?

Those Apps would not transfer from your iPhone because the iPhone apps are iOS 5 based and the iMac apps are OSX based.  They are not the same Apps.  You will need to transfer the OSX based apps over from your external hardware backup you have kept up, Or you can reinstall the OSX based apps from their original DVD's.
    Hope this helps

I have iTunes 10.6.3.25 and I can't find my audiobooks that I downloaded from a library website.  The audiobook tab is visible in iTunes but none of the audiobooks are there.  They are on my iPod nano.  Please help!

When you say they are displaying in your iTunes library, are you talking about the Audiobooks section of your iTunes library and not the audiobooks section indented under the iPod in the left pane of iTunes under Devices?
Is the iPod Shuffle configured to sync audiobooks or do you manually manage the iPod's contents?
