Transfer functions in the 64 bit version of Labview 2011

Hallo all,
I am running a 64 bit version of Labview 2011 and I would like to know is it possible to use transfer functions in this version?
I found only a 32 bit version of Control Design and Simulation Toolkit, is there something else I could use for this?
Thank you,
Vladimir

Hello,
Thanks for your posting in this forum. Unfortunately you cannot use this function in the LabVIEW x64. You can check the link below
http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/LabVIEW-64-bit-support-for-modules-and-toolkits/td-p/996044/page/2
But you can try the option below, but I cannot say that it would work.
You can install the LabVIEW x32 and then Control Design & Simulation Module .
Then copy the library of this module somewhere else.
Then you can install the LabVIEW x64 and copy that library in its folder.
Maybe it works.

  • The transfer function of the PID block doesn't show the derivator.

    Hello,
I am trying to use the PID vi, but I when I try the box by itself, it doesn't behave as a "clasic" PID should behave. The main problem is that I don't manage to see the derivator. In the attached vi I compare the transfer function of the PID vi with the transfer function of a PID built by me. My version shows all what a PID should have: integral section (with decreasing magnitude and -90 phase), center area (with constant magnitude and 0 phase), and derivative area (with increasing magnitude and +90 phase).
The PID vi only shows the integral part.
You can also select a step input, and see the output directly. If you choose a large enough derivative time (100 times bigger than the integrator time), and you look closely to the first part of the output, you will see the pick due to the derivator in my version, but not in the PID.vi version.
Does anyone knows what am I doing wrong?
    Kind regards,

    Dear Nathand,
Thanks for your answer, I tried the change and you are right. That shows that this not a standard PID, since that means (and actually I can see it now by checking inside the vi) that it is not using the derivative of the error but the derivative of the process variable. I know that this is used sometimes to prevent the effect of fast changing set-points, but it is a shame that they do not comment on it in the help, and that this is not a selectable feature. Do you know if there is a way to edit these pre-packaged vi's?
One more question, about the labview style. I included the sequences just to group terms and make the code more readable to separate the integrator from the derivator and not have a knot of entangled signals. Specially when I run the clean-up diagram, it gets very entangled. I have been looking for another way to do that (container boxes, groups). It would be nice if you could suggest me something I can do for it.
    Thanks again,
    Pablo

  • Does the academic version of Labview 8.5 allow running AT MIO 16e-1 DAQ board?

I just bought the academic version of Labview 8.5.  I have an AT MIO 16E-1 DAQ board.  I have installed the Labview software.  Then I installed the Legacy NiDAQ 7.4.  I put in the board and MAX recognizes it.  Windows detects the board twice.  The first time is installs automatically.  The second time there is an error.
I can't find the instrument driver/VIs in the Labview functions pallette for the AT MIO board.
    Thanks.

    Hello Test11111,
In order to use Traditional NI-DAQ devices in LabVIEW you need to know the device number as given in the Measurement and Automation Explorer.  Unlike the IMAQ or NI-DAQmx devices, Traditional NI-DAQ devices do not auto-populate in the channel controls or constants.  The good news is that if the device shows up in MAX and the test panel works there then your device is working properly.
There are some Traditional NI-DAQ example VIs available through the NI Example Finder.  To access these examples open LabVIEW and go to Help» Find Examples...  Then in the top left select Directory Structure; the "daq" folder contains all of the Traditional NI-DAQ examples organized by device and function (analog, digital or counter I/O).
I hope this helps, and please post back if you're still having trouble.
    Cheers,
    Brooks

  • Does Instrument I/O Assistant only work in the activated version of LabView 8.0 and not in evaluation version?

I'm using the LabVIEW 8.0 evaluation CD and every time I try using the Instrument I/O Assistant I get this error message "Measurement and Automation Explorer or the Instrument I/O Assistant is not installed correctly. Please install these from the LabVIEW Driver CD." So I tried installing both from the Device Driver CD and still it didn't work. I also tried uninstalling all NI softwares and components and reinstalled everything from the LabVIEW evaluation CD and Device Driver CD and still the same result.
I was wondering maybe the Instrument I/O Assistant will only work after I activate LabVIEW. Is this the reason why I can't use it or does Instrument I/O Assistant also work even if I'm only using the evaluation version? Please help!

    Glynster -
Yes, Instrument I/O Assistant does work with the evaluation version of LabVIEW 8.0.  However, you need to install Instrument I/O Assistant from a version of the National Instruments Device Driver CD that shipped with LabVIEW 8.0 (or later).
NOTE: The link provided for Instrument I/O Assistant 1.0.1 DOES NOT work with LabVIEW 8.0. It is only for LabVIEW 7.x.
You will need to obtain a Driver CD to get Instrument I/O Assistant to work with LabVIEW 8.0

The previous version of Itunes had a function where I could identify duplicate songs in my iTUNES library.  I cannot find this function in the new version of iTUNES.
Please advise where this is in the new version?

The show duplicates/show exact duplicates features have been left out of iTunes 11. Rumor suggests they will be restored in the next build. In the meantime I have written two Windows scripts to make playlists of Duplicates and Exact Duplicates, either from a selection of tracks or the entire library.
If you want to manually remove duplicate tracks use shift-delete to remove selected tracks from the library as well as the playlist. Keep one of each repeated group of files and don't send to the recycle bin unless you are sure that there are multiple files on the disc as opposed to multiple entries to the same file.
There is also my DeDuper script if you don't want to do it by hand. This can preserve ratings, play counts, playlist membership, etc. which are lost in a manual clean up. Please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping. See this thread for background on deduping and the script.

In general, yes.  Others with more experience than I do might be able to help.
I think there is a chance you can get some older versions of LabVIEW to work on Win7.  There are occasional message threads where people have asked about a particular version and others said they have been able to get them to work.  Just that official support for older versions of LabVIEW for a Win7 OS has ended.

  • System Identification and Transfer Function of the LEGO MINDSTORM NXT Robot

Can anybody please help with the below question.
Using your LabView interface, input different values of power and record the output value of the number of wheel rotations. You can convert the latter into speed by measuring the diameter of the wheel. Then, type ‘ident’ in the command line of Matlab to launch a graphical user interface for system identification. Using the data collected for input power and recorded speed, you can derive the transfer function for your robot in the Laplace domain.
You will notice that it is possible to approximate the transfer function to a first order system.
Add disturbance to your system such as wind drag, road profile or friction. You might want to model the disturbance as a sinusoidal waveform.
Analyse the system response in LabView in order to tune the response.
Finally, write a LabView program to test your controller.
Set both Integral and Derivative to 0
    Increase the value for Proportional controller to 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.1, 1.3, and 1.5
Select a suitable simulation stop time.
Compare each simulation results and draw some conclusions.
Record the steady-state error. Has it dropped to near zero?
Record the rise time. Has it decreased to less than 0.5 second? And for what values of Kp?
Check whether this response is realistic i.e. a real cruise control system generally cannot change the speed of the vehicle from 0 to 10m/s in less than 0.5 second.
Adjust the gain (Kp) to give a reasonable rise time and add an integral controller to eliminate the steady-state error.
Change both Kp and Ki and see what happens to the response. When you adjust the integral gain Ki, start with a small value since a large Ki can destabilise the response. (Ki =0.001, 0.002, 0.003, 0.004).
Then you need to adjust both the proportional gain Kp and the integral gain Ki to obtain the desired response. Record the values of Kp and Ki that can meet all the design criteria.
Write the PID-feedback control LabVIEW program as described above.
Does it work? Quantify! Show us it is working
Hand in a short report on the PID project on the cruise control of the LEGO MINDSTORM NXT Robot. Your report should contain an introduction to cruise control and uses of PID controllers, a brief explanation of how PID feedback control works. The printout of the Block Diagram and Front Panel of your LabVIEW program should be attached at the end of your report.
Put it all together. There are many questions that can be explored and written up in the result section. Be creative.
Here are some things that may be addressed: Check whether your system can stabilise speed to within 1%. What are the optimal PID parameters that you have found? Can you choose PID parameters to both reach the set speed quickly and also maintain the speed within good accuracy once the system has reached the set speed? Can you control the speed of small steps? Explain your results?

    Thanks for that.

You should be able to build control system to do this using PID control VIs. The following paper is a good place to start when working with PID systems.

  • What are the current versions of Labview and Teststand

    Hello,
i am currently downlading the current versions of teststand and labview for evaluation.
In the Teststand-link i saw that it is called "Teststand 2012".
    1. But there was no version-information in the Labview-Download. Is this also version 2012?
    2. Are both things 32-bit-software?
    3. After i installed the evaluation-downloads - can they be activated with a key or do i have to install it again when the CDs arrive in my office?
    Thanks for help

I am using Windows-7-64bit - should i prefer then also Labview 64? (The NI-download-Links only provides 32bit for download)
Will there be any problems converting my existing Labview 8.5-Vis to the new Labview2012?
    Thank you
You can have both the 32-bit and 64-bit installed.  Just remember your target when you build an exe.  64-bit compiled programs can only run on 64-bit machines.
You should have no problem upgrading your code from 8.5.

  • How can we download the CANOPEN version for LabVIEW 8.5?

    Hi,
We already bought a CANOpen library that's support the LabVIEW 8.2. How can I get the update for 8.5? Do I need to reorder it? The actual version it is not able to be installed anymore on actual LabVIEW version. What will happend for the 8.6? I didn't see any support for this version yet. This cannot be changed to do not be a LabVIEW version indipendent?
    Thank you,
    Teodor

    Hello Teodor,
Although the CANOpen library is not officially supported in LabVIEW 8.6, you should be able to use it by copying the following files/folders to the corresponding 8.6 directory:
    <LabVIEW 8.2>\examples\CANopen,
    <LabVIEW 8.2>\help\lvcanopenvhelp.chm,
    <LabVIEW 8.2>\help\lvcanopenvhelp.txt,
    <LabVIEW 8.2>\user.lib\CANopen.
     <LabVIEW 8.2> corresponds to the location of your LabVIEW 8.2 folder usually C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.2.
Please let me know if this helps.  Have a great day.

  • How can I TRANSFER material from the FREE version over to the PLUS version...?

    Ladies and Gentlemen,
I started a project on your Adobe Story Free version, and recently acquired Story PLUS.
How can I TRANSFER what I started on the FREE version over to the PLUS version...?
    Thank-you,
    David

You can export the documents in that project to '.stdoc' format and then import it into your plus account.
So the steps would be :
    - log into story with your free account
    - Go to that project and open a document
    - Choose 'Save To Disk' option from File menu. Save this file on your system
    - Now log into Story with your Plus account.
    - Click on Import button and select the file from the previous step.

LINEST function using Numbers for Mac

Thank you for your help. This page is somewhat helpful, but I still don't quite understand.  I am using the Numbers program, and my assignment calls for me to use the LINEST function to return a set of 10 values.
When I googled how to do this, a lot of pages mentioned hitting "command+enter" to complete the array function, but they were using an older version of Numbers and it doesn't do anything when I try it in the new version.  I tried using "Index" with LINEST, and i've managed to get about 5 values out of it.
