Transfer iPod everything to a new iTouch

How do I transfer everything that is on my current iPod Nano 3rd Generation to a new iTouch 8GB that I'm planning on purchasing?

Oh but it is.... I have 2 iPod classics, 2 nano's now and a touch... Both classics sync to the same thing and they both get it just fine.... THe nano, due to the restricted size only carry the contents applicable.
It's uniquely plug and go, all of the qualified content that you choose to sync in iTunes when you connect the new device will go over.

  • How Do I transfer ipod library over to new itunes library

I recently got a new computer so i lost everyting in the transfer.  I have windows 8 and I am trying to move all the songs from my Ipod to my new library.  When I go into the music tab on itunes it says it will delete everything on the Ipod and replace it with the few songs in the new library.  It still shows me the songs on my ipod in the "on this ipod" tab but I dont know how to sync it

The ipod is not a storage/backup device.  The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
You may be able to purchase a third party program to get the music - not supported by Apple.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Us eyour backup copy to move everything to the new computer.

  • Reformatted O.S. need to transfer Ipod 80 Classic on new O.S???

    Windows 7 (64)
    ITUNES Version 10.5.3.3
    8GB DDR2 Ram
    Nvidia geForce 8600GT
    Intel Quad Q6600 Core 2
    Hello,
I previously had my Ipod Classic 80GB installed on my last Windows O.S.  I recently upgraded to Windows 7 64 Bit O.S.  I installed Itunes on this computer and wanted to know if there could be an easier transferring of all my songs, playlists back onto my computer from my ipod, than some of the Youtube how-to's out there, which to me is very time consuming.
I am asking this now, before I try to plug in my ipod, then have ALL my music be deleted, then spend hours reinstalling all the 75GB of music/playlists on both the ipod and itunes.
Right now, when I open itunes, all I see is the default playlist folder and the few songs I recently purchased through amazon. On my older itunes library, I had playlists like CLASSIC ROCK, REGGAE, HAWAIIAN,COUNTRY, BLUES, AND JAZZ.
The way I used to manage itunes and my REGULAR music folder on an extra INTERNAL HARD DRIVE, (This is NOT the itunes anything folder, just my own personal music folder on another drive)  Every time I would buy more music, I would add these files to my personal music folder, then open itunes up, and copy/paste, or drag these new songs into itunes, in the prospective playlist genre, but somehow something changed, and when I looked back into my personal music folder, the songs I had just moved into the itunes library have disappeared from the other personal music folder.
I then have to plug in my external backup hard drive and move back these song files into my music library....So now I’m missing a ton of songs that itunes removed from my personal music folder to add to the itunes library.    Why did this change?
I do not want all my itunes library songs in BOTH my Music Folder on the internal drive, and ALSO in my > MY MUSIC> ITUNES in the main C:\ Drive where the application is.
I opened up itunes, went to Preferences> Advanced >
ITUNES MEDIA FOLDER LOCATION - C:\USER\MUSIC\ITUNES\ITUNES MEDIA
If I changed this path to my E:\ Internal drive where all my personal music files are, will this prevent itunes from making my music files disappear, or is this the reason for the disappearing act in the first place?  Apple does not make any of this easy!
Both checkboxes for the following are UNCHECKED.
         KEEP ITUNES MEDIA FOLDER ORGANIZED.
COPY FILES TO ITUNES MEDIA FOLDER WHEN ADDING TO LIBRARY.
    So my questions remain…
Is there an easy way to transfer all my songs, which are already on my Classic 80GB ipod, back into a new itunes library on my new computer?   And…….
Where would be the perfect recommended location for my itunes directory be...In the APPLICATIONS / PROGRAMS  on the C\ folder, OR on the E:\ Drive where all my songs from my personal music folders are located?  Thank you!

    Also......
YES, I did have the itunes on my last hard drive before I formatted it, but I was having too many issues with itunes' multiple folders on various drives,( the program itself, on the C:\ along with it's itunes folders, and itunes Library, and also it created another itunes library, and it's folders in my reg. music folder on my other internal E:\ hard drive)  I had issues with possible viruses, firefox crashes, everything was disorganized, so I just decided to start all over again with a clean Windows, and Itunes install.
Like I said, before, I used to add music to my reg music folder, and drag into itunes and the songs would always stay there in my reg. music folder, then I must have hit something in Prefs or settings that caused my files to disappear from the reg. music folder after I dragged the files into my itunes library.... So I always had to painstakingly go through all my albums and find the missing songs and add them back into their prospective folders again. Waste of time.
So now, I just want to drag all my existing 75GB music files from my ipod back into a newly installed itunes library again, with all my original created PLAYLISTS, IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!

  • Transfer ipod touch content to new PC

    Hi all,
I needed a new HDD for my laptop, and now I don't know how I'm going to transfer all the content on my iPod touch to the new iTunes library on the new HDD. If you could help me, it would mean the world to me, thanks!

Your apps are in the itunes folder, so if you grabbed the whole lot for back up, they should be on the disc (or external drive) to be restored. So restoring your itunes from the backup should restore apps too (though not info stored in those apps eg calanders etc unless you made and saved externally a back up mirror of your ipod touch).
If any are missing, I am pretty sure I have read about these forums that you can download an app that you have bought, and if you already own it, you won't be charged .. though I would test that on one app just to be sure

  • Can you transfer ipod ownership and download new owners files

I wish to pass my IPOD Touch over to my wife after she damaged her own Ipod Touch.  I wish to transfer ownership and keep my information backup if I get an new Ipod Touch and enable my wife's data and programs to be transfered to my machine. Is this possible and what are the main steps to get this done.

  • Transfer iPod Touch Apps with new main hard drive on Windows PC

Replacing main hard drive, which hosted iTunes account.
For songs, I have already saved to 4 DVD's.
For iTunes, a new main hard drive will look like a new PC, I'd think. Should I de-authorize my account on the current PC/drive before installing new hard drive? Then download iTunes and set up under previous email & PW?
    Other content?
For photos and MS Outlook contacts, I can re-link to restored data.
How about downloaded and purchased Apps? Will they survive on the Touch or need I take further action on the PC?
    Thanks!

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your ipod, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your ipod got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.

I got a new computer and backed up my iTunes library to an external hard drive.  The external hard drive is not allowing me to access the drive.  I no longer have access to the old computer.  Is there a way to transfer the songs from my iPod touch to my new computer?

That's a bummer, didn't realize the exHD files were corrupt, esp if you have tried from another PC and not just this new computer.
You can get purchases from the itunes store transferred from an iPod using these directions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848?viewlocale=en_US
If you want everything (meaning non-itunes songs, app data, photos, etc) you need to buy a 3rd-party ipod manager that support iTouch. Here is an iLounge article to start your research:

  • How do I move music from itunes store for an old ipod to a new itouch device

I just bought a new itouch, and wanted to transfer my music from itunes to new device.  do I just plug in and go or will it be a security issue?

    That's basically what you do...
Connect the iPod and select it in iTunes.  If the iTunes sidebar is not showing, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod should appear in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Click on it to select it.
With the iPod selected in iTunes, there is a row of buttons toward the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  If the iTunes music library is small and fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Then click Apply.  With this setting, everything in the iTunes music library syncs to the iPod.  Whenever you make a change to the iTunes library, such as adding new songs, iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes, the next time it is connected (or when you click the Sync button).  If this works for you, you don't have to read the rest.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  A convenient way to use this setting is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  You can call it "iPod Songs," or whartever you want.  From the iTunes music library, add the songs you want on the iPod, such as those iTunes Store purchases, to that playlist.  Back on the iPod's Music screen, find "iPod Songs" under Playlists, and select (checkmark) it.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, when you want to update the songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or when you click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.

  • I haveve an old ipod touch and a new one how do i transfer the stuff from the old one to the new one

my ipod screen broke so i bought a new ipod touch and i am wondering how to transfer everything from my broken ipod on to my new one
                         thank you

Everything should be on your computer.  Just sync everything to the new ipod.
You can restore your new one using the backup from your old one.

  • Can you transfer pictures from an old ipod touch to a new ipod touch without having the old ipod touch or the photos in Iphoto?

I somewhat recently got a new ipod touch after my screen cracked and the people at an Apple store said it would be cheaper to buy a new device completely.  I followed everything they said about backing up my old device and when I went to pick up the new one, the store took the old one away.
Up until just a few days ago I did not realize Iphoto could hold pictures from your ipods.  Mine never did it automatically, nor did anything ever seem to have the option to do.  It just so happened that two days ago I was browsing the web when I noticed a website gave instructions on how to transfer photos.  So I tried it and it worked for my new ipod while all the new photos.
But I was wondering if I could somehow get the old photos back from Itunes or my computer somewhere and transfer them into Iphoto or my new device.  I was hoping that maybe if I could "back up" my old stuff onto my new ipod for a few moments it would show I have the old photos and I could transfer them into Iphoto and then restore the ipod touch back to what I have it currently.
If it helps, I'm pretty sure the old ipod touch I had was a 3gen as my new one I noticed was skinnier.  As I said, I do not have the old touch anymore but I have the data in Devices on my Itunes if that makes a difference.  Both my data for my old one and new one are in the Devices section of Itunes.
    Thanks,
    Dragonhatchling

Restore the new iPod from the backup of the old iPod:
How to restore from a backup
To restore information from a backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iOS device to the computer with which you normally sync:
Right-click (or Control-click) the device and choose Restore from Backup
If you have a new phone, you can connect to iTunes and it will prompt to restore from your backup
