Transfer itune date to a new machine

I just received an iMac 24. Im moving from a Mini, which has all my itune/ipod music. Is there a way to transfer my itune from my mini to the iMac so I can use my ipod on the iMac and not lose all my music?
Please email or reply

Congrats on your purchase. Just make sure that you have a 6pin-to-6pin Firewire cable when you first switch on the iMac and you'll be offered the chance to set-up the use Migration Assistant to copy all your data and settings from the Mini to the iMac.
Alternatively follow the instructions in this article (link).

  • Transfer iTunes data from new pc to hdd

I have already transfer my iTunes data from a Dell pc to HDD and I would like to transfer my iTunes data from a new Sony pc to the same HDD. Is it possible?

Yeah... that's not going to work and no logical expectation that it would either.
You stated that you have two iTunes librarys.
    Close iTunes.
Ensure you know the location of the library that you want to utilize.
Hold SHIFT and launch iTunes.  Continue holding SHIFT until the window appears asking to create a new library or use selected.  Select the option to use selected.
Point iTunes to the library that you want to utilize.
If you want to combine the libraries, at this point you can use the Add File/Folder option in iTunes to add the folders.
Once complete it would be a good idea to consolidate the iTunes library allowing iTunes to move all media to a central location and eliminate the two separate libraries.
If you wish to keep the two libraries completely separate, you can utilize the SHIFT/launch iTunes method to switch between them.  They MUST be in completely separate directory structures for this to work.

Me and my partner are currently using the same apple id and have no space left on our devices. We are currently waiting on the iphone 6 plus to arrive and don't know how to transfer all data to the new phones.?

I don't know if I'm asking this all in a way that can be understood? Thanks ED3K, however that part I do understand (in the link you provided!)
What I need to know is "how" I can separate or rather create another Apple ID for my son-who is currently using "my Apple ID?" If there is a way to let him keep "all" his info on his phone (eg-contacts, music, app's, etc.) without doing a "reset?') Somehow I need to go into his phone's setting-create a new Apple ID and possibly a new password so he can still use our combined iCloud & Itunes account?
Also then letting me take back my Apple ID & password, but again allowing us (my son and I) to use the same iCloud & Itunes account? Does that make more sense??? I'm sincerely trying to get this cleared up once and for all----just need guidance from someone who has a true understanding of the whole Apple iCloud/Itunes system!
Thanks again for "anyone" that can help me!!!

  • Transfer itune files to a new itunes account?

can I transfer itune files to a new itunes account?

mskatyjane, have you recevied any other info on this problem?  I have the same question, i.e.
I have an iPod Touch and so does my son.  Until now, I have "shared" my iTunes account with him, syncing both iPods to my iTunes account, and only putting on his iPod the music/games he liked.  He is now old enough to have his own iTunes account on his own computer.  Is there a way to create an AppleID for him and transfer his info from my iTunes account into his new one?  I believe that if I create an Apple ID for him, and try to sync his iPod, it will say that his iPod is already synced with another iTunes/Apple ID account.
Hope we get a response!  I have posted my question separately as well.

I have an iPhone 3GS that I dropped in water for a moment. After drying it and everything, it still does everything but get service. Can I back it up and transfer its data to a new iPhone 3GS? I heard something about how loading a backup from a water damaged phone could mess up the new one... is this true? I would truly appreciate the help, please let me know, thanks!

Sounds like your phone is in recovery mode.  In this case, all data on it is gone.  There's nothing to back up.

Yes. You are allowed to install PSE on two computers at once, but if you don't need it on the first computer anymore, go to editor>help>sign out to deactivate it and free up one of your activations for future use.
As for moving your photos and catalogs to another computer, see:

Can i set up a new iphone 5 on my mac running version 5.0.6 and transfer my data to the new phone from my iphone 3

No, you need 10.6.8 for an iPhone 5.
You can purchase Snow Leopard by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will receive physical media - DVD - by mail.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store.
    Snow Leopard General requirements
      1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
      2. 1GB of memory
      3. 5GB of available disk space
      4. DVD drive for installation
      5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
      6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

  • Using Time Capsule to transfer data to a new machine

I have just taken possession of a new iMac. I need to transfer the data from my old one and wondered if Time Capsule was the most efficient way of doing this.
I understand that there is a transfer utility built into the Mac OS which allows you to transfer data from one machine to another via Firewire, but it occurred to me that my Time Machine might provide a quicker and easier way of doing it.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks in advance.

I would go with FireWire. Boot the old Mac into "target disk mode" by holding down the "T" key while it is booting. Then connect the two Macs with a FireWire cable and launch the Migration Assistant utility.
If your Time Machine backup is on your network (rather than being directly connected), transferring the data from the other computer over FireWire is probably going to be a lot faster.

  • Transfer iTunes music to a new mac

I've just received my new iMac. I have 80 GB of music on an external drive that worked fine with my previous Mac Mini. I have copied this into the music folder on my new mac. When I open itunes in the new mac, I can only see 47 GB of music. However if I go to 'get info' for the itunes music folder inside the music folder, I can see that there is 80 GB in this folder on the new iMac. How do I get all my music into itunes on the new iMac , or how do I see this in itunes ?

Similar problem also. I have all my music backed up to am external hard drive from my old G3 and need to transfer it all to my new iMac. I can't use Migration assitant (doesn't work on G3) and can't use my back up program (silverkeeper) because it doesn't work on leopard (I will be using Time Machine once I get this figured out). I would like to know which files I need to drag from my external to my new iMac that will bring all my music, playlist's etc. to my new Imac.
    Thanks for all your help...
    Rick

  • Transfer my data to my new computer

When I started my new macbook pro at apple store, i didn't transfer data from my old machine, how do I transfer now?

Back up all data if you haven’t already done so.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
Reboot and go through the initial setup process again. To avoid complications, don't change the name of the user you created when you did this the first time.

  • How do I transfer my data to my new macbook pro using an external hard drive?

I've already set up my new MacBook Pro is my issue. It asked me if I'd like to "Migrate" my stuff or use an external hard drive etc but at the time I didn't transfer my data from my old MacBook yet. I was going to manually do it later as I had to wait for my External hard drive to back my old Mac up. Now it's that time and I have no idea how to do it. I believe I've researched best of my ability.
I feel like I'm asking a pretty dumb question. If I were to just drag all my programs out like my Adobe Suite on to my new macbook pro would that work? I feel like that's just too easy and incorrect. Please and thank you.

The Adobe suite can be downloaded free, you dont have to copy it at all, under standard CS6 Adobe rules, if you own the suite, you get 2 computers "activated at any one time"  Make sure, if youre not using the older computer, you deactivate the software under the HELP menu in Adobe.
format the new drive in disk utility ......APPLICATIONS.....UTILITIES.....DISK UTILITIES.......select the external drive and format (if its new and empty!!!) under the ERASE button with Mac OSX extended journaled
copy all your important stuff from older computer , pics, files, documents, personal anything.
most of you apps, i ASSUME you bought in the (other than Adobe software, or Office suite, etc etc,..... obviously) in the MAC APP store, so you can reload them on the new computer without copying them , makes things very easy......just open APP STORE, and download what you already bought.
really the only important things , is copy all important work files, documents, pictures, personal ABC...XYZ......  obviously.
the migration is about emails, contacts, etc etc etc, also data, just because you passed it by at the time doesnt mean you still cant do it,    go to the SEARCH at menu at top and type in MIGRATION ASSISTANT  to do it again , since you passed it by at first .
the only thing you NEED / SHOULD copy is all your personal stuff........Applications need to be reinstall from either ONLINE download,.......or from the MAC APP STORE,........  you cant just copy the apps over (in most cases) and toss them onto the new computer
Nahh, there are no dumb questions, just dumb mistakes because you DIDNT ask any questions, and we all make those here and there.
