  • How can I copy/transfer iTunes content ?

How can I copy/transfer iTunes content from my old computer to the new one, considering that for some reason Target Mode and Migration Assistant doesn't work for me ?
I don't need the application itself (it comes with the new computer) but just the content.
I want to transfer my collection of CD in iTunes. they are all CD that I physically have in my living room, listen to them on my stereo and have copy them in my computer (which is in the Den) so I can listen while working on my computer.
    The iTunes is version 9.0.2
Can I drag it to the external drive or perhaps just the songs, then copy/drag them to my new computer ?

    Hi-
Can I drag it to the external drive or perhaps just the songs, then copy/drag them to my new computer ?
    Pretty much, Yes.
If you wish to keep the formatting, notes, ratings, etc. that are with the library, you should allow the iTunes software to "discover" the library.
If the iTunes Library from one machine is placed on an external drive, the iTunes software on the other machine can be directed to the library of the external drive when connected.
Allowing "Copy to Home folder/music" will provide for copying of the library to the new machine.
Alternatively, if the library is loaded onto an iPod, the iPod can be used to transfer the music.

  • Transfer iTunes content on another laptop.

I have just brought a new laptop and I would like to know if I can transfer iTunes and it's content from the old laptop onto the new one? As I wish to keep everything the same including my apple ID

If you bought all of your music, all you have to do is transfer the iTunes folder into the appropriate location on your new computer
If you have some music that you got elsewhere (Ex. CD's):
         1. Locate where you placed all of your music files.
         2. Create a folder on your desktop called Temp (Or any other name you can remember)
         3. From one of the locations (There may be only one, in your case), select all the files and drag them into your
         desktop folder (Temp)
         4. Keep doing step 3 if you have more then one location.
         5. Then, put the Temp folder on a flash drive and plug the drive into the new computer.
         6. Put the Temp folder in any place you'd like (On new computer)
         7.  In iTunes: File > Import > (Select the file from the place you chose on step 6)

  • Unable to transfer iTunes content from PC to new MAC.

I am having trouble transfering my iTunes content to a new iMac. I tried using CopyTrans TuneSwift. I was able to download the content to a harddrive, but to restore it, CopyTrans says you have to open iTunes while pressing the option key to get iTunes to ask which library to use. When I open it using the option key, it just opens iTunes without asking me to select a library - so the content is not being restored. Any suggestions?

HI, I never got that far... How did you even run the Mac restore file. I received an error saying that the developer was not registered with Apple. CopyTrans want me to bypass the Apple security and hold down the Control key while clicking the exe file to kick off the Mac restore side of things.

  • Transfer iTunes content from one Apple ID to another Apple ID

I have recently set up a second Apple ID so that I can separate content I want my kids to be able to access and other content that I don't want them to see (eg particular TV shows and movies) and have set up a separate computer through that I want to load with content suitable for them.  Is it possible for me to transfer content purchased on iTunes from one Apple ID/iTunes account to a different one?  Are there any tips/tricks for this?  Any problems or watch-outs?  Thanks.

    Hi H.E. Bear,
Sorry, but iTunes purchases are forever tied to the Apple ID that they were purchased under. There is no way to transfer purchases from one Apple ID to another.
You can, however, Authorize that original ID to the new computer (along with the new one for the kids). Once you have Authorized it, you can transfer selected purchases into the iTunes Library on that computer:

  • How to Transfer iTunes content from old computer to new

I have a new Windows 7 computer. I downloaded iTunes and now I want to transfer all my content from my old Windows Vista notebook to the new computer.
How do I do it? I don't see any import/transfer solution.
    Thanks

Because there is nothing in iTunes to deal with this, no need to be.
Use the Windows Easy File Transfer utility to move all your data.
Or simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • How to transfer iTunes content?

    1st things first.
My brother set up a passcode on his iPad and he forgot the passcode, now the iPad shows that it is disabled and it needs to be connected to iTunes.
    1. The last time I sync the iPad with my (old) laptop was early this year.
    2. I had setup the iTunes on my (old) laptop to save all the contents of sync, into my External Harddrive.
    3. My (old) laptop is now dead.
    4. I bought a (new) laptop
    5. I havent installed iTunes yet on the laptop
    6. My question is, if I installed iTunes on my new laptop, what can I do so that the iPad will not lose every content? And so that I can sync smoothly..?

You can sync as many ipods as you like to one computer. All of your music should be on your computer, in itunes. Just plug in your second ipod, make whatever selections that you like and sync it.

  • Trying to transfer iTunes content to new laptop

Hi, I'm trying to transfer my iTunes library from my old laptop to a new one. I followed the instruction available here: iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
After opening iTunes however, all of my music doesn't show up, and my old playlists didn't show up either. I checked the Media folder for the missing songs, and they are there but it doesn't show up in my Library.
I ended up adding some of the steps from a separate tutorial, where I exported my old library (File > Library > Export Library), and imported the playlist to my on the new laptop.
This made the missing songs and playlists show up, but it made duplicates of many songs and playlists, and it just makes everything messy and takes up a lot of unnecessary space. And yes, I did delete the duplicate songs and playlists, but then it just removes certain songs from playlists that are synced to my iPhone, and it would be too tedious to go through my libraries to find out which songs are missing!
Both my laptops are updated to the latest versions of OSX and iTunes (as of Oct 8, 2014). The new laptop is Mid 2014 and the old one is Mid 2010.
Also, I prefer not to use Migration Assistant because I don't want to transfer everything over.
I'd really appreciate any help I could get with my situation! Thanks!

  • My iTunes got deleted off a (no longer working) computer. Is there a way I can transfer all content from my iPhone onto iTunes on a new computer? I want to update my phone, but do not want to lose any music off it when syncing it.

My iTunes got deleted off a (no longer working) computer. I have lost all music & data that was on this original itunes. Is there a way I can transfer all content from my iPhone (music & photos) onto iTunes on a new computer? I want to update my iphone (3GS), but do not want to lose any music off it when syncing it. Help please!!

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you are using a new computer, your phone will see this computer as a "new" computer. The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. If you have photos that were synced to your phone or music ripped on your own that were not backed up, you will first have to extract them from your phone using third party software, before you do anything else, as Apple makes no provision to do so:
    http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/index.php
Once you've done that, do the following in the order specified:
    1. Disable auto sync when an iPod/iPhone is connected under iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices in itunes.
    2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in the supported applications(Address Book & iCal or Outlook, Windows Address Book) on your computer. These entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
    3. Connect your phone, iTunes running, DO NOT SYNC at this point.
    4. Store>Authorize this computer.
    5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
    6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
    7. Right click again and select backup.
    8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
    9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go.

  • I purchased a new computer, how do i transfer all of my itunes content from the old computer to the new one with out loosing songs, apps, pics ...ect

i purchased a new computer, how do i transfer all of my itunes content from the old computer to the new one with out loosing songs, apps, pics ...ect

Copy the entire iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer to move iTunes content.
As for pictures, copy them from where there are on the old computer to the new computer... this has nothing to do with iTunes.
Alternatively, if both computers are Windows based, use the Windows Easy File Transfer Utility to move everything.

  • I want to transfer new content from iTunes to my iphone without losing what is already on my phone. Help!

I want to transfer new content from iTunes to my iPhone without losing what is already on the phone. On the old iTunes I could drag and drop only the items I wanted on the phone.  On this new version, all I can figure out to do is sync, which is going to remove the songs that are already on the phone. There has to be another way.

The film would have to be in itunes on your computer.
You would sync it like you do everything else.
