Yes you can. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. There are a few things you could do, from networking the two computers, using an external hard drive or even using your iPod to make the move. Have a look at this User Tip: Migrating iTunes for Windows to a new PC
If you can network the computers there is also this one: Copying songs over a network to use with iTunes for Windows
To use your iPod on two computers without accidentally erasing it, change it to manual update on your old computer before connecting it to the new one. Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have loaded iTunes on your new computer and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync:

Another way to load iTunes on your new PC is to copy the songs directly from the iPod. There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. As iTunes 7 is just out some of these may not have caught up with it yet though I haven't experienced any problems with the Mac software I use.

It sounds like you have music that you want to transfer from your iPad to your new computer. You can use the Transfer Purchases function to get your iTunes and App Store purchases copied to your computer:

Any media that you had imported to your previous iTunes library and synced to your device will have to be re imported to iTunes, and synced over again.

You should always have a backup copy of your computer.
If you are moving Mac to Mac, then just copy the entire itunes folder to the new computer.
You can also use Migration assistant.
You can also type "move itunes library" or similar into the search bar.

I have a Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. The computer screen went totally blank, but the computer turns on and works. We just cannot see anything on the screen. On the old computer, I had Itunes, 2 Iphones 3G and Ipod classic and ipod nano-5th generation. We bought a new Toshiba Laptop with Windows 7. Is there any way for me to transfer my itunes files (music/apps/etc) from the old computer to the new computer even though I cannot see the screen on the old computer? Please help!! Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!

You should probably hook up a monitor to your old computer, borrow one if necessary. By default, whatever you do on your laptop should be duplicated on the monitor you plug in so you can see what you're doing.

Since my old laptop crashed, I have made its HD into an external drive till I can transfer contents.
However, I do not know how to go about iPhone syncing and saving info without losing data/information on my iPhone. As my iPhone also needs to be backed up!!
So where do I find the backup files for iTunes/iPhone on my old laptop (windows PC) hard drive?? So that I can transfer it to the new laptop (hopefully this should work??)

Easyesd way:
Copy the whole iTunes folder from your backup disk to the new Mac, replacing the existing iTunes folder in the folder "Music"
On your backup disk the folder should be in "Music" or, if that was a Windows machine, in "My Music"

You may/must have had music files stored outside of your iTunes library.
I'd recommend going to the Finder and then via the search box look for files with mp3 aif m4a aac etc. depending on the music format your digital music had. With the list of files shown you should be able to learn which files were stored outside of your music > itunes folder
Chances are they could be burried somewhere under your documents, downloads, desktop, ... we all have different storage and organization habits.
Then when you find the missing files, on the new computer you can do add to library and go to the folder on the other computer where the missing files are - if your systems are networked - or sneak them over using a USB thumb drive or portable hard drive if you have lots of files, or if you like to have an extra backup of that music, copy to optical disc.

The easiest way is to back up old phone to icloud and then restore new phone from that old phone backup. Any purchased content such as apps and songs from the itunes and apps stores can be downloaded again.

I'm not using iCloud, so do not know for sure. I feel as if I have more control by using iTunes on my computer, to determine what is on my iPad, and what gets deleted.
If your wife will share the same Apple ID with you, you do not need to remove everything from the old iPad. She can share your purchased Apps, music, et cetera.
In iTunes, you can have several iOS devices sharing Apps under a common Apple ID, but you can also "uncheck" specific Apps you do not want on one of your devices. Each device has an identity so iTunes should remember which App goes on which device during future syncs.
If your wife will have her own individual Apple ID, you need to go to Settings-General-Reset-Erase All Content and Settings. This will return the iPad to factory defaults, except it will retain the latest iOS version installed.

Make sure iTunes is loaded on the PC
If all she wants are photos, she has to have the photos on her PC, not just on the old phone. The old iPhone backup doesn't save the actual photos, just the setting pointing to where the photos came from.
If the photos are on her PC, your should be able to sync them to the new iPhone with the Photos tab in iTunes (after the new phone is plugged in).
If the photos aren't on her computer, she can copy them from whatever computer has them (assuming she has access to it).
