Transfer iWeb contents to another computer & merging Domain.sites2 files.

Hi
I've a MacBook Pro with one set of iWeb files which are published. I've an older MacBook which contains a different set of iWeb files, which are also published. I want to consolidate both these set of iWeb files on one computer. I was reading that I need to transfer the Domain.sites2 file from one computer to the other.
When I do so, I don't want to clobber the original set of contents. How do I merge two Domain.sites2 files?
thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
How do I merge two Domain.sites2 files?
You can do that with iWebSites. Just remember to make backup copies of both domain files to be merged in case the merge doesn't go as advertised. I've merged sites before with no problem.

  • Transfer iWeb  content to new computer

My G4 finally died, but before I could back up any iWeb files. I have bought a new MacPro now, and need to know if its possible to get it all back from the internet version somehow?

    Tim,
I'm sorry....there really isn't anyway to import your
online site back into iWeb for further editing and
publishing. In the future, you should keep a backup
of the Domain file if you can. This is the one file
in which iWeb stores everything about your website.
Best of luck to you....and congratulations on the new
    computer! I am officially jealous!
I'm having this same problem-- I uploaded my iweb content to a pre-existing server (not .mac). since then I've had to do an erase and install (long story) and my last backup was a month ago. I downloaded all the iweb files from the site... but there's no way to restore them and get back to work?
    my question is:
if I restore my domain file from a backup a month ago will I be able to add files created AFTER the backup? there's no "import" feature in the file menu.
    or am I just screwed?
    thanks in advance

  • Recovering iWeb's "Domains.sites2" file

    Hi, my situation follows:
two days ago, I had a kernel panic. Fortunately, I had Windows XP installed with Boot Camp. I started it, installed MacDrive 7 and moved the entire HFS+ partition containing my OS X files into an external, FireWire 400, 500 GB drive. The files were moved succesfully, so I was able to initialize the OS X partition, reinstall OS X 10.4.8, update all the programs and began restoring the files.
Now, what's most important to me is my website, which is made with iWeb.
The kernel panic occurred immediately after iLife '08 installation. In fact, the system detected there were updates available, but some running applications (VLC and Messenger) interfered with the update to OS X 10.4.11 . I was asked to reboot the system, but then it was impossible to login, because the rotating palettes would never stop rotating.
I then booted with OS X 10.4.8 install disk. Boot Disk said the OS X partition was containing OS X 10.4.11, but it was not true, because the update to 10.4.11 had failed previously to reboot. So I made my mistake: I tried to restore the boot image from OS X 10.4.8 install disk to OS X false-10.4.11 hard disk partition. The process did not fail; however, when rebooted I had a kernel panic.
As I said, I have not lost even a single file, because MacDrive was able to move all the data to an external disk.
    Now I'm restoring it.
The problem comes with iWeb. When the infamous update to OS X 10.4.11 occurred, iWeb was succesfully updated to version 2.0.2 (iLife '08), while my website was last opened with iWeb '08 original (with no updates).
Now, if I try to move the Domains.sites2 file to /Users/mylogin/Library/Application Support/iWeb and start iWeb '08 2.0.2, it recognizes the web pages, but they are all grey, exactly as they do not exist.
Unfortunately, I am beginning to think this is the problem: the last time I had modified my webpages with iWeb was with iWeb 2.0, and during the update it was updated to 2.0.2 . If I would have re-opened them with 2.0.2 version, the Domains.sites2 file would have been updated too.
So, now I have iWeb 2.0.2 and a Domains.sites2 file which was last modified with version 2.0, so I'm thinking: is this the problem? Is iWeb not recognizing the file because it was opened with an older version ?
    Or:
*are there any iWeb files other than in /Users/mylogin/Library/Application Support/iWeb ???*
If so, please tell me so I will be able to restore all the files.
    Thank you for your support,
    Tyrexionibus

I'm guessing you have answered this by now, but no there are no other files

  • How can I transfer JUST ONE IWeb site to another computer?

I am new to making IWeb sites and am now making them for
other people. I have about 10 sites in my IWeb folder and need to
be able to give a person's site to them.
I need to be able to transfer JUST ONE site to another computer.
Right now, I am only able to transfer ALL the sites I have made to
another mac and then, it wipes out all their sites! How can I prevent
the ultimate wipe out of all their iweb sites yet give them JUST ONE
    of mine?
    thank you in advance,
    Beth http://www.yourzensite.com

First, read Wyodor's post about changing the publishing settings HERE.
You can create the extra folders in Home Folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb or, as I do, in a folder named iWeb in the Home folder.
Create a folder for each website, give it a suitable name and paste the Domain.sites2 file with all the websites into each.
Open each one in turn, double click the Domain.sites2 file to launch it in iWeb, delete all the sites except the one whose name is the same as the folder name, save and quit.
Now you can launch any site individually in iWeb and sent a copy of the appropriate folder to the client.

  • How to copy one of my iWeb sites to another computer

I have version 3.0.2 of iWeb.
I created a site for someone else on my computer and now I want to give/transfer that site to another computer that has iWeb.
How do I do this? I read something about all the iWeb files being in the Application Support/iWeb/Domain file, but having never heard of this before, I don't know how to JUST load that SINGLE site and not all of my iWeb sites.
I was hoping that it was/is something as easy as copying and pasting a Word document.
    Help?
    Sara

Duplicate the domain file that contains all of the sites. Move it to the other computer and open it with iWeb. Select the sites that you don't want and delete them from within iWeb leaving just the one site.
    Happy Holidays

    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

I'd like to transfer my iWeb website to another account on my MacBook. Is this Possible?

Yes.  Copy or move the Domain.sites2 file that is located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the same folder in the other user account on your Mac.  The other user account will have to be logged in to the same MobileMe account as your are.

I want to transfer iWeb pages from my computer to a friends computer. How do I do this?

What is the friend going to do with the website?  If he's to edit and publish it follow Wyodor's links on moving the Domain.sites file to the other Mac.  If it's just so he can open the site locally you need to publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and move that folder to his computer.

  • Can't transfer e-book to another computer

I'm using Windows Vista, Adobe Digital Editions v 1.5, I purchased an ebook online, and I'm trying to transfer the ebook to another computer for printing. I followed all the instructions online for transferring ebooks, and logged onto the other computer's ADE with the same account, but I keep getting the error "Document is not Licensed for this Device Type".
We've already called the customer service and they didn't provide any help.
Can anyone help please? Thank you very much in advance.

I am having a related problem. My laptop with 100 purchsed ebooks on it died.  I bought a new laptop, copied all my files from backups, downloaded Adobe Digital which would NOT recognize my email/password and therefor will not open the library.
The most important part of the library is professional texts that I need access to.
Although this must be a daily occurrence Adobe have not been able to help (shall I say.. "yet").  I tried to redownload the books from the purchase site but they also will not open.. and with all the hassle I have now exceeded download limits.
This seems the most simple of problems but I have been two weeks without the documents.
The terms of use from the download site required me to use Adobe, they charged full price for the ebooks and the books are now not usable.

  • Transfer iWeb08 site to another computer

I'm preparing the start of a website in iWeb08 for someone else. After the roughly site is made by me she can add more photo's and text to it. However I don't know how I can safe the iWeb08 project on mine Mac to put it on her Mac.
Is there a way to do this?

First of all save your domain.sites2 file to a folder called My Websites.
Create a new folder called" Her Website."
Copy and paste your domain.sites2 file into this new folder.
Double click this copy to launch iWeb.
Delete all the pages of your site, rename the website "Her Website" and build the new site. Save it and quit iWeb.
Now you will be able to launch either site in iWeb by going to the appropriate folder and double clicking the domain.sites2 file to launch it.
Transfer the folder "Her Website" to the other Mac. If you want to do this by email use the freeware application Pando....

All your friend has to do is double click the domain.sites2 file to launch "Her Website" in iWeb.

  • Transfer Album Artwork to another computer?

Most of my album artwork has been retrieved automatically using the "Get Album Artwork" command in iTunes. Other album artwork has been copied from amazon.com or other sites. Where exactly does all this artwork get stored? How can I transfer album artwork to another computer? I see album artwork docs stored in 4 folders:
    1) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download
    2) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Local
    and ALSO in:
    3) C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download
    4) C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Local
To backup/transfer to another computer, which of these 4 folders do I need? Why are there 4? How can I combine to 1 or 2? Do I simply copy folders from one computer to another? Which folder(s)? My iTunes library is on an ext hard drive, but the album artwork is on the C drive. I backup/transfer the itunes library by connecting my ext hard drive to the 2nd computer, and hit "Add Folder to Library", but don't know how to properly transfer the artwork folder(s). Thanks for the help!

    Hi Pete,
You would copy the entire iPhoto Library folder to the other computer. Put the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder of the other computer (make sure there is no library with the same name in the Pictures folder. If there is rename it.
Does the other computer have the same version of iPhoto? does the other computer already have photos in the library.
What do you want to do if there is another library on the other computer?
Copy iPhoto Library folder from one Mac to another
-If the library is small enough, burn the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to CD/DVD.
Drag the iPhoto Library folder from the CD/DVD to your Pictures folder of the iMac.
-If the computers are networked, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac.
-If you have an iPod, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to the iPod. Connect the iPod to the other computer and copy the iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac.
-If you have a firewire cable, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto LIbrary folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac
    Things to keep in mind:
-If the usersnames are different you might have to set the permissions on the iPhoto Library folder to Read/Write for the new user. Check the "apply to enclosed items" at the bottom of the "get info" window.
-If there is another iPhoto Library folder on the other Mac, change it's name so it doesn't get replaced by the iPhoto Library folder you are copying into the Pictures folder...or....drag it to another place on your hard drive.

can i transfer pse 11 to another computer?

    Hi GederGenealogy,
A retail version of the software is good to install on 2 computers as per the End User License Agreement.
If you wish to transfer the license you need to deactivate the software first by launching the software, go to the 'help' menu and select 'Deactivate'.
You can then install the software on the new machine and use the serial number to activate it.
