Transfer iWorks

Just bought a new macbook pro. I know how to transfer my itunes and all that stuff from my iMac, but can i actually transfer over applications and it will work on my computer such as iWorks and similar?

Migration Assistant is the best way to move applications and user data (in your Utilities folder)

  • Transfer iWork '09 to new MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

I want to transfer Pages, Keynote, and Numbers from my old MacBook Pro running OS 10.8.2, to a new 13 inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display which is also running on 10.8.2. The problem is, I got iWork from the disc and it's already maxed out on it's uses. So... I tried to transfer from a Time Machine backup, but when I went to Migration Assistant, it didn't read My Passport for Mac, even though my computer read it on Finder. Why isn't that working? Also, I know I would have to transfer the Applications folder, but will there be duplicates, like 2 iPhotos or 2 iTunes? Lastly... is there anyway to just transfer iWork? I already tried Aiddropping and just dragging it from a Time Machine backup into my applications folder, but it says that I'm not authorized, or something like that.
    Thanks!

I'm sure if you go to the Apple Store and explain that you're no longer using iwork on your old Macbook (are you?) they'll give you a copy of iWork. If you are using iWork on your old macbook pro, then explain that if you had have bought them on the app store, you'd be able to use more copies. Hopefully an employee will sort it out!

No, they are different apps for use on different operating systems.

  • Transfer iwork from Imac to MacBook?

Hi - Help please, I have just bought a MacBook and want to transfer Iwork from my Imac to the Book. Is this possible? and if so how.

    Welcome to the discussions, Paul175.
How did you purchase iWork and is it the latest version? Did you purchase online or did you get it from the retail store? If you have the serial key, you should be able to download the iWork demo to the new computer, enter the key there, then just delete iWork from your old computer.

  • How do I transfer iWorks'09 bought in box to App Store, so that it is reflected as purchased and installed.

How do I transfer iWorks'09 bought in box to App Store, so that it is reflected as purchased and installed.

    Sorry, that's not possible.
The iWorks suite of software is installed from a disc.
The apps from the Mac App Store are installed individually hence the updates are available from the App Store, not the Apple menu / Software Update like your iWorks software.

  • How to transfer iWork's from old mac to new mac

Purchase iWork's with first iMac now replacing with new iMac and want to transfer iWork's to new computer

If you use Time Machine on the old Mac simply connect it to the new machine, when you start the new one for the first time that launches Setup Assistant. It will ask if you are migrating from another Mac, select yes, select the TM drive as the source and let it fly!

  • Am i able to transfer iwork from my brother's macbook to mine?

my brother has iwork on his 2008 macbook pro. i have 2011 macbook pro. is it possible to transfer iwork from his to mine?

Not really. The license prohibits it. However you can purchase the apps from the Mac App Store for a very reasonable price.

  • How do I transfer iWorks from old MacBook to a new one?

I have a first generation MacBook Air and need to transfer my iWork applications (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) to a new MacBook Air.  Not referring to the files that were created with the Apps, I mean the Apps themselves.

The easiest way would be to use the original installer or to download the apps from the App Store again. If that's not feasible use Migration Assistant to transfer all your application from the old computer to the new one. (MA doesn't let you choose which programs, it does them all.)

  • Transfer iwork 2009 to a new mac

I've a new macbook pro, and i wanna transfer the iwork from the old mac to the new macbook. i didn't buy the boxed set of iwork, but i just bought the serial code since i actually used the trial version for a while before buying it. so, is there any way to do this?

If the old Mac is Intel, just use the Migration Assistant.
    Otherwise follow these steps:

  • Transfer iWork from iMac to MacBook Air (mid 2011)

I've scoured the message boards and technical support pages but haven't secured an answer for my specific (and surprisingly uncommon) question.
I just got a MacBook Air (2011) and am looking to install software from my iMac (2009) via Wireless Network.
I started with Migration Assistant, but I never got the option to choose which applications I wanted to migrate.  With 128GB of space in the Air, I don't want ALL my iMac software coming over!
So, is there a way to pick and choose the applications you want migrated?
Or is there another method to install programs from my iMac to my Air?
I don't have a CD or DVD of iWork.  My iMac is running Snow Leopard (and I don't have a desire to upgrade that machine to Lion yet).
    Thanks in advance!

How did you initially obtain iWork? If you purchased the boxed set then you have a DVD. If you purchased it to be pre-installed on your computer when you bought it, then it's on the Software Restore discs that came with the computer. If you purchased and downloaded it from the App Store then you can re-download it by signing into the App Store with the same Apple ID that was used to purchase it.
If you've lost the original media then it would likely be cheaper to purchase and download the current versions from the App Store.

  • Transfer Iwork files from iPad to mac

I have just purchased a Macbook. I've been using iWork on my iPad for 5 months, and would like to see my pages, numbers and keynote files on my macbook. I'm wondering how I do this? If I change a documents contents, will it change on the macbook also?
    hope someone can help..

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iWork documents that are either created or edited on an iOS device will automatically sync between all iOS devices, but will need downloading from the iWork feature of the iCloud.com website on your web browser in order to view them on your Mac.
Likewise any documents that you create or edit on your Mac, will need to be uploaded to the same location, if you are to share them between your iOS devices.

  • Transfer iwork for mac to ipad

    Hi.
I have bought iWork for Mac and would like to share that program with my iPad. How can I do?

I remember that, during purchasing, have read that I could share that program  on all of my devices under the same account.
    is it wrong?
    No.
You can share data and projects of iWork for  OS X with iWork for iOS. NOT the apps themselves.

  • Can icloud transfer office documents instead of iworks

    Hello,
I notice that iCloud only seems to transfer iWorks documents, at least that's what all the propaganda says. But I don't use iWorks, I use Microsoft Office (in Windows 7 using Parallels Desktop, but all the files are saved in the Mac Documents directory, not in Windows). Can iCloud be configured to backup office docs instead?
    Thanks,
    David.

    Thanks ClayG and OrangeMarlin,
That's pretty much what I thought. I did trial iWorks and concluded that it's not good enough for me to fork out money to buy it after only buying Office 2010 10 months ago, and frankly I think Office is better... So I'lll just have to use some other method of sync. What a shame, you'd think iCloud would support Office docs considering Office is available for Mac anyway (although I use the Windows version).
    David.

  • IWork's transfer to iPad

I have a MacBook pro and desktop. I bought iWork's and have it installed on both. I just bought the new iPad a few days ago, how do i transfer iWork's on to it since I've already paid for it?

You can't. You bought It for the Mac OS. It will not work on the iPad. You have to buy the apps for iOS for the iPad.

  • HT4847 how do i transfer my docs to icloud, does it work like a dropbox

how do i transfer my docs to icloud, does it work like a dropbox

You can only transfer iWork documents at present, and only if you have an iOS device with ate least one of the iWork apps on it; in which case you go to the iCloud website, to the iWork page, and drag the documents there. It's not intended for backup, or syncing between Macs, only for allowing your iOS device to edit your documents.
iCloud does not offer general file storage: for that you will need a third-party solution. This page examines some options:
