Transfer library to old ipod

i lost my ipod, can i transfer my library to a old ipod that wasnt installed on this computer?

This is the Mac OS X Technologies > iSync forum. According to your sig you are a Windows user...
iSync is a Mac OS X only application for syncing Contacts and Calendars to mobile phones and PDAs. It has nothing whatsover to do with Windows, iPods or iTunes.
Try the iTunes for Windows forum instead.

My ipod is about 8 years. Want to transfer music fron old ipod to new one. Can that be done ?

    Hello try again
All your media should be in iTunes so you can sync using iTunes to get the music over. If you have any purchases from the iTunes Store you may transfer them to your iTunes library.

  • HT1209 how to transfer music from old iPod nano to new iPod touch

how to transfer music from old iPod nano to new iPod touch ?

The 1st and 2nd gen iPod shuffle can only be used with one iTunes library (not "account") at a time.  Your Apple ID and password does not matter.  (Later shuffles can be used with more than one iTunes library, IF it is set to use the Manually manage music option.)
So, if you sync it with a different iTunes library, the previous content will be replaced.  You need to offload the existing content to your new computer's drive as the first step.
You cannot transfer song files from iPod to computer using iTunes, except for songs purchased from the iTunes Store.  However, there are third-party methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.  (The CNET article seems to be popular.)
Once the song files are on your computer's drive, you can add them to the iTunes library.  After confirming all of your songs are there, sync your shuffle with that iTunes library.

how can i transfer picture from old iPod to my computer

Are these pictures on your iPod no longer stored on your PC or in a backup somewhere?  If so, you'll need the help of third party software to assist you with the task of extracting the photos from your iPod to your PC.  Keep in mind that these synced photos are no longer in their full resolution, but instead are scaled down thumbnails of the original.
If you stored these photos in full resolution, see this article for instructions on copying them from your iPod back to your PC.

  • How to transfer library when old computer gone and old iPod gone

I recently got a new iPod Nano (lost the old one). I transferred some songs from my library to the iPod but not all the ones I want now.  Then my old laptop died completely--no access to library. I can SEE the old songs on iTunes. How do I transfer them to new computer if the old computer is gone? This is driving me crazy!

I wonder if you might know how to answer this somewhat related question: I, unfortunately, copied my iTunes music library onto an external hard drive before I read about the consolidating option. Stupidly, I then did the consolidation. Now I have each song listed twice in my library and one of each is an orphan, so I have to manually locate each one. That's a lot of music! Is there a way to undo my stupidity?

  • Is there a way to move my library from old ipod to new ipod if i do not have my old hard drive

I have an issue on my old ipod with the sound coming through headphones...after troubleshooting found something is wrong with my old ipod (from like 2006) and i just bought a brand new one and want to be able to move my songs from my old ipod to my new one in windows platform environment.  The issue is I don't have my original hard drive with the Itunes library on it on which I originally purchased my songs.  Is there a way at all to download my songs from my old ipod to my new computer's hard drive and then move them from that hard drive to the new ipod?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am a novice at this so please be user friendly and not a lot of computer jargon please if possible...if you can outline steps that would be great.

    Hello goldymich
You can only transfer items that you have purchased from the iTunes Store. The article below will give the steps on how to do that.

  • Transferring Library from Old iPOD mini to new computer...

My computer was fried about a month ago. My company's IT department replaced it, but I lost my library of iTUNES entirely from the hard disk. The whole library is of course on my old iPOD mini. I want to transfer the library from the old iPOD mini to my new computer and then, in turn, to my new NANO - which I am very excited about. I have installed the nano and the iTUNEs on my new computer. I am fearful that if I plug my old iPOD mini into the new computer, with the blank library, that it will erase the iPOD mini library. HELP!

DO NOT attach & sync your full iPod to an empty iTunes!!!
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Windows software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
Extremely Simple Method: (just to recover the song files)
    1 - Open iTunes
    2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- Select ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- Select ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
2c --- Click OK to store changes
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
    5 – Within iTunes: File=>Add Folder
6 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ (click on the ‘+’) and select the iPod
    7 - Click OK
8 - The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes
8a –- this will take some time depending on your PC and the amount of songs on the iPod
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy:

  • Transfer songs from old ipod to new ipod

is it possible to transfer songs from my old ipod to my new one?? any thoughts???

Is what is on your old iPod on your computer? If so then simply connect the new iPod and sync the same library onto it.
If the stuff on the old iPod is NOT on your computer, first step is to move it from the old iPod to the computer...

  • Transfer music from old ipod to new ipod...for free?

My husband dropped his ipod touch and it got run over. He has a new ipod touch but we can't figure out how to transfer his music from his old ipod to his new one. There's 800 songs on his old one. For some reason, the old ipod syncs photos into itunes but not songs? We've already spent enough money one the ipods and music...I don't  really want to pay for all the software stuff to do it. Is it really that difficult? We were hoping we could just plug both ipods into the laptop and drag and drop in iTunes...but apparently that's not possible either. Help?!

All music that was on the iPod Touch should be your iTunes library on your computer. If Sync Music was selected under the Music tab for the iPod Touch sync preferences with iTunes, any music purchased from the iTunes store direct with the iPod Touch would have been copied to the iTunes library automatically with the first sync with iTunes after doing so. iTunes also includes an option for any music downloaded direct with the iPod Touch will be downloaded automatically by iTunes on your computer.
Photos on your computer can be transferred to an iOS device via the iTunes sync/transfer process but photos are not stored by iTunes.

  • How  do i transfer music from old ipod to itunes for new ipod

Im not sure how I am suppose to take the 200 songs that i dont have on my itunes that is on my old ipod, and how Im suppose to transfer this music onto my itunes to get it on to my new ipod??? oh and clicking on the enable disc use isnt working so please and suggestions would be great

    Hi Jperto99
You need to Either get 3rd party software or do it this way
You need to be able to view hidden files on your computer , you need to go to the control panel and find folder options. (i believe that you could change the settings on in the windows explorer by clicking view at the top menu bar. you need to click it so that you can see the hidden files. (i think this explains simply what i said Tools -> Folder Options -> View, and then check (enable) the option “Show hidden files and folders.”)
Next find your ipod now if you have enabled hidden files you need to click on your ipod and find a folder called ipod control. the folder itself will look different maybe a bit transparent because it is hidden. Next you will go in and if you explore further you will see loads of files (transparent like ipod control) with things like F34 F01 (or F1) etc.
They are the files with your music on it and if you click on them, they will show music files but they wont have names. they are encrypted with file names like AKLY (basically four letters or 3 letters put together in capitals) so to get the names and other suff back simply drag the music files into itunes or import them individually (the folders) into itunes by clicking file, import into itunes and by folder.
Then once you have done this the names should be correct in Itunes.
Alternitavely you can drag all the files in 'ipod control' into an external Hard Drive if you go into itunes prefrences you can let itunes put all your music on your computer into organized files of album names.
Hope that Helped (if you don't understand what i said this guide is pretty good http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/P0)
Also if your willing to spend money by doing all of this in one click then this program for £14 (not sure in $) is really good. the free version (does 5 songs at a time) but the great thing is, is that it transfers directly to itunes you can get it here http://www.findleydesigns.com/
You can get other free 3rd party software ill try and find a list for you if you want
