Transfer Method in transfer rules

Dear All,
If I make an infosource and assign data source go to " change transfer rules". I get 2 radiobutton options in "transfer method"....PSA or IDOC. What is this? How does it affect the flow of data? and how is it different from the options I get in infopackage?
Regards,
Ratish
[email protected]

Hi Ratish,
The two data transfer methods are PSA and IDoc. In PSA, the number of fields is limited to a maximum of 255 when using TRFCs to transfer data. The length of the data record is limited to 1962 bytes when you use TRFCs.
If u choose PSA as the transfer method, staging of data can be possible. It stores the exact replica of the data from the source system. In case if the load fails, you can retrive data from the psa through manual update or reconstruction.
And also editing can be done in psa.
where as in IDOC error handling is not possible. In requirements where security plays major role we use this type of transfer method, where no one can edit the information. But when the load fails we have to run the load again from the source system.

  • Changing transfer method in transfer rules

I would like to change the transfer method in a TR.
It is set by default to IDoc.
I would like to set it to TRFC with PSA.
However, I can't because it is dimmed.
My aim is to find a workaround to an issue stated in SAP note 120446.

It is a Data Mart source in the same BW system.
I have created an Export DataSource from a PSA.
I cannot activate transfer rules due to a bug (note 120446).
This occurs because the transfer method is IDoc only.
I'm afraid that no solution exist for my problem.

  • Error while activating transfer rules

Transfer method 'TRFC with PSA' is not supported by the source system
    Message no. RSAR508
    Diagnosis
The PSA transfer method is used to transfer data from source system GBQ480 to transfer structure 0ASSET_ATTR_G4. Source system GBQ480 does not support a PSA transfer.
    Procedure
Define the PSA in the source system.

Change Transfer method to PSA in Transfer rules and then activate. If PSA is selected, you will not face this error.
If you still face this error even after changing Transfer method, check below thread.

  • Error while creating transfer rules.

    Hi
I am creating transfer rules and a error  message says " IS_00_BB does not exist". (IS_00) is the desc. of the info source)
can someone help me on this????
I had created transfer rules for another cube in the same info area, but no error had come then..
    Thanks.
    Aswath.

    Hello,
The problem you are reporting could be that you are using the Transfer
Method 'IDOC' for the affected transfer rule(s). You should use the
'PSA' transfer method (rather than the 'IDOC' method), as the IDOC
    method is very old.
If so, please change the transfer method in the affected transfer rules
to 'PSA', then try to activate the transfer structure again. This should
solve the problem, in which case, please let us know by clicking on the
    'Close' button.
If the problem persists please create the report that is relevant for your system release
as per the SAP note 493422 and execute the report in your system, the report can be
created in se38, please talk to your basis team if you have problems creating the report.

    Hello Experts,
when i want to iinstall the transfer rule /CRMBW/OLTP_OPPORTUNITY_ITEM
from Data Source /CRMBW/OLTP_OPPORTUNITY_ITEM to InfoSource
/CRMBW/OPPORTUNITY_I  (all Business Content Objects) Iam facing the following situation:
    1. When I use "Simulate Installation" i get the warning for all of the fields: Field APP_SERVER is not supported by DataSource /CRMBW/OLTP_OPPORTUNITY_ITEM in source system SLOGICOCRM. Transfer rules were deleted however, delivered.
    2. When I use "Installation" i get a  dump of the following type:

  • Problem in mapping Infoobjects in Transfer Rules

    Hello Friends,
I need your help regarding following issue:
I installed ODS named STABILITY STUDY : INSPECTION RESULTS QUANT. DATA  (0QM_DS02) from Business Content.
The ODS & Update Rules have been installed properly.
Few infoproviders had been already installed at the time of implementation, hence majority of the infoobjects existed from before. Only few were new.
Now when i tried to map transfer rules, newly installed infoobjects are not seen in data source.
The data source is 2LIS_05_QE2 and few of the infoobjects not being mapped are:
    Sum of Target Value (0SUMSOLLW)
    Target Val.Available (0IND_SOLLW)
    Phys. Sample Number (0PHYS_SP)
    Inspect.Lot Origin (0LOT_HERK)
    Inspection Method (0PMETHODE)
    Plant of Insp. Meth. (0PPLANT)
    Insp. Meth. Version (0PMTVERSION)
Can any one suggest me how should i proceed??
    Regards,
    Anuradha Vakil

    Dear Anuradha,
Before installing transfer Rules or infosource first u have to install the datasource in source system and replicate it into bw.
If u have done this already then u want to map some objects in transfer rules then u have to check whether those fields available in the datasource , If they are available then goto transfer structure click datasource/transfer strucature tab there right side box u can see the unmapped fields in black colour move them to right side then go to transfer rules map those fields to infoobjects.
If the fields are not there in the datasource u cant do any thing just activate the transferrules.
Assign points if it solves ur problem...........or clearly reply what is ur problem.

  • Cannot See Transfer Rules in Transport Connection

    Hello,
I have searched Notes and Forums and have not found a solution for this!
I performed some configuration in our newly upgraded BI system. We
were on BW 3.5 and upgraded to BI 7.0
We also change how our landscape was interconnected.
Our BW Dev system used to connect to our R3 Sandbox system.
Now our BIDev system connects to our ECC Dev system.
This is the first project i have worked on since the upgrade was
successful. What I am finding is that I get the following transport
error when I look at the STMS logs from BID to BIQ.
    Transport Error
Start of the after-import method RS_ISTS_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) ISTS (Activation Mode)
There is no DataSource with these attributes
Reference to transfer structure 1_CO_PA2900010_DS_BA not available.
    No activation possible.
Here are the details when I click to get more info on the error message:
Reference to transfer structure 1_CO_PA2900010_DS_BA not available. No
    activation possible.
    Message no. RSAR436
    Diagnosis
Transfer structure 1_CO_PA2900010_DS_BA should be transported into this
    system.
However, no DataSource mapping refers to this transfer structure.
    System Response
The transfer structure was not activated or deleted.
    Procedure
Ensure that DataSource mapping, with a reference to the transfer
structure 1_CO_PA2900010_DS_BA is on the same transport request. Use
the transport connection to create a consistent request.
    Wierd Behavior
The big issue now is that when i go to the transport connection in RSA1
and I want to collect Transfer Rules, I see a small subset of all the
transfer rules I would expect to see. I am looking specifically for
    the transfer rules: 1_CO_PA2900010_DS PCDEVC200
Similiar behavior occurs when i am looking for "3.x DataSources" in the
    transport connection
I can see these rules in other areas of RSA1 such as Infosources.
Please assist with finding these transfer rules in the Transport
    connection.
Other then this transport both ECC and BI system landscapes are up and running normally.
    Please help
    Thanks!
    Nick

    Bryan,
Thanks for jumping onto this thread.  I am going to complete the transports and see if i have any system name conversion issues to address.  I may need some guidance on ensuring that BID, BIQ and BIP have the correct entries in RLOGSYSMAP.
    To answer your questions:
    1. Was the new source system added as an additional source system or was the R/3 Sandbox source system renamed?
Bryan: The new source system was added by renaming the R/3 Sandbox source system/Executing BDLS.  The original source system was PCSNDC200, and we BDLS'd that to PCDEVC200.
    2. To what Source system do the transfer Rules belong to that you are missing?
---Bryan: The missing transfer rules (and all source system dependent objects that are missing) belong to PCDEVC200...I fixed the  missing object issue, by going to "transport Connection" and clicking on 'Source System Assignment' (or Shift+F7) and then checking the box for my source system, in my case the box for PCDEVC200 was not checked previously.
    3. Was the "conversion of Logical System Name" entries updated correctly after the new source system was added in BID?
---Bryan:  The answer to this question i will find out tomorrow when I transport to Production (fingers crossed, the BID > BIQ transport went well with name conversion!)
    Thanks!

  • Help on Start Routine at Transfer Rule.

    Hi guys,
We r extracting data from generic extractor into BW.My target is to fill Attributes of 0Customer(Infoprovider) Infoobject.
We have added two navigational attributes to it CLASS A and CLASS B.
Data coming from R/3 has three fields Customer,Class,n field called as ATWRT.
For each customer there are two records .
    For Ex
    Customer                         Class                          ATWRT
    001                                   A                                 FOOD
    001                                   B                                 Supermarket
    002                                   A                                 Chain
    003                                   B                                  Magnum
In the target customer is key
Now the TASK is that in the target the definition for class A which is present in ATWRT should go to navigational attribute ClassA
n Defination for B should go in NAV Attribute CLASS B . that means there should be single record in the target comprising both value in NAV attribute.
    For Ex
    Customer                Class A                             Class B
    001                         FOOD                                Supermarket
    002                         Chain                                  Magnum
i want to write program in start routine of transfer rules. If u can suggest any other method also it will good to me to sort this issue. Suggestions are expected.
Points will be awarded for the write suggestion.
    Pls help me out.

    Dennis,
Thank you so much for the quick response.
I think it is working. I only have one concern!!!!.
I feel like during the testing I found something weird that eventhough there are only 8 records in the psa and four records only have the value ('status') that we need from customer master data-field1, it is still picking the 5th record, not sure why.  I see that once it is written in to the data target then the value is showing it as 'status' and in psa it is different.
So I wonder if it is converting that field in the routine based on our constant!  Please let me know your input.
p.s data target does not have the field1 available.  So just like you corrected my code it has to bring it from customer master data and join customer to with the customer-field1 =' status', then pick else delete other records.
    Regards,
    Su

  • Problem in writing the routine in transfer rule....

    Hi,
I want to put the routine for the upper case in the transfer rules.
When I go to the Infosource and create the transfer routine I do not

Only editable thing I get is "RESULT"
As nothing else is editable not even the TRAN_STRUCUTE has anything.
Everything is commented out by the system automatically.
How to make this editable and put the code.

  • Transfer rules on BW 7.0

    hi, all,
I'm struggling to load data into the DSO 0BP_REL in our BW 7.0 system. The data source is 0BP_RELATIONS_ATTR and the source system is a CRM one. The Extractor Checker brings abot 270 data records, when no target system is assigned. When I specify my target sys, the error message occurs :
No transfer rules for target system SBG100
    Message no. RJ025
But, in the BW system the transfer rules are existing - there are many data records in the RSTSRULES Table with OBJVERS = "A"
    Table:          RSTSRULES
Displayed Fields:   5 of  10  Fixed Columns:                4  List Width 0250

       0BP_RELATIONS_ATTR_SC         A       0BPRELATION_ATTR                 0ADDR_LINE1                      0ADDR_LINE1
I tried it with the old version - InfoSource, and with the new version - transformation as well. It's allways the same error: in the source system - no transfer rules for target system.

  • How to read transfer rules of transaction UCWB

    Hi experts!
Hope you can help me with this since I have like 3 days looking for the way to read transfer rules in "Mapping" section, in transaction UCWB; in order to develop it in an Abap program.
Is there any FM or has someone done this before ? Can anyone give me any idea on what should i do ?
I've tried to debug but it's a complete mess ... then i've tried to trace it ... and now i'm trying to map the transfer rules that seems to be spread in various tables ...
Please help me! I'm open to any suggestions!
    Thanks in advance.
    Dev.

    Hi,
I 'm refering to the you get by following the next steps:
    1. In the "Process View", go to "Consolidation Functions"
    2. Then go to "Data Collection" --> "Load from Data Stream"
    3. After that, go to "Method" and double-click on one of the methods
    4. Then in the detail of the method you've selected, go to the "Mapping" tab.
There it would appear the mappings per each characteristic of a given Infoprovider ... do you know the SAP tables where all this information is saved ?
    thanks in advance!

  • RSAU_READ_MASTER_DATA in transfer rules missing results or dump

    Hi Guys,
Anybody know about if the RSAU_READ_MASTER_DATA work in transfer rules??
I have a routine for field attribute derivation  from a infobject; putting the trans-structure as I_CHAVL and returning the E_ATTRVAL in result. But don't work and is hiring a dump of CALL_FUNCTION_CONFLICT_TYPE.
I tested with I_CHAVL equal to a string that is the key of a field in the infobject that I want to read; i haven´t the dump but don't work. The value is blank.

    Thank you.

    Hi Jeysi,
    What's ur purpose here ??
If u're gonna read some data in master data, instead of using function, why don't u directly select to master data table ???
Usually the table name is /BIC/PX
    X: Master data name.
    /BIC/ => Customized one.
But if you want to get the information regarding what the table is, you can open directly respective master data info-object, and you go to master data tab.
In over there, you'll see the box whose label is Master data tab.
You can use SELECT command in ur corresponding transfer/update rules..
    SELECT *
      FROM ..
INTO CORRESPONDING FIELD OF TABLE ..
      WHERE ..
Hopefully it can help you a lot.
    Regards,
    Niel.

  • Transfer rules for  Functional Location hierarchy

    Hi
I am trying to install Transfer rules for 0FUNC_LOC_HIER from BI Content.
But i could not find any .
Where do i can find T/Rs or Is there any procedure for that ?
    Regards
    sateesh

    Hi Sateesh,
I am not sure if the hierarchy datasource 0FUNC_LOC_HIER supports the transfer methog PSA,
if it only supports IDoc then its will not have transfer rules that you can maintain. You can
check in table ROOSOURCE in the source system (field transfer method) to see if the datasource supports
PSA transfer methd. If it does then you could create your own transfer rules.
    Best Regards,
    Des

  • Cannot transport transfer rules!

    Hi,
We have a problem transporting the transfer rules from BWD to BWQ.
Here are the steps I did :
New object ZZRANK was added to user exit on R/3 dev. and transported
New infor object ZZRANK was created in BWD
ZZRANK was added as attribute to 0PLANT (mater data)
Transfers were created and comm struc updated.,
testing was successful in Dev,  r3 changes were transported to Q and BWD transports to BWQ.  ALL info objects transported successfull but the transfer rules failed.  Cannot determine why.,
Start of the after-import method for object type R3TR ISMP (Activation Mode)
Mapping between data source 0PLANT_ATTR and source system PR2200LS is inconsistent
Field ZZRANK will not be delivered from DataSource 0PLANT_ATTR in source system PR2200LS
Mapping between data source 0PLANT_TEXT and source system PR2200LS is inconsistent
Field KEY1 will not be delivered from DataSource 0PLANT_TEXT in source system PR2200LS
Errors occurred during post-handling RS_AFTER_IMPORT for ISMP L
The errors affect the following components:
          BW-WHM (Warehouse Management)
    Any help is appreciated.

You may have to replicate your data source on BWQ.
First replicate and then send your transport again from BWD to BWQ.
    Regards.

Hello, according to general information MaxDB just supports UTF16. If one is facing the decision to migrate an Oracle 9.2 Non-Unicode-DB to either a Unicode-UTF16-MaxDB or a Unicode-UTF8-Oracle-DB, the answer probably would be to go for a Unicode-UTF
