Transfer minidiscs and cassettes onto mac

I am using a macbook pro 13" 2009 model and am trying to transfer mini discs and cassettes onto my mac. What programme and leads do I need to do this?

The Apple article listed above is a little misleading for some computers depending on model.  The cable required has a miniature TRS (tip-ring-sleeve, just like an iPod headphone) on one end, and splits into two "phono" (RCA) plugs at the other (the one that's Red or a Red Ring is Right channel).  You plug the TRS into the MacBook Pro's audio input; it won't go "all the way in"...some have SEPARATE headphone out jack and a combo digital/analog input jack labeled with a circle and two triangles pointing inward.
The best audio quality is if you can plug the RCA plugs directly into the output of the cassette deck (or MD player), then crank up the output level of the cassette or MiniDisc (if it has an output level control) until it's almost at the maximum on the meter on the loudest musical passages.
If you're going through your stereo receiver, its TAPE MONITOR buttons may be turning off the output going to your Mac.

Hi duongtt! Sorry to hear you have a problem with BFM. Can you please send me the error logs so I can forward them to the development crew. Here’s how to get error logs from Sony Bridge for Mac:
    1. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the "Phone" menu. Select "Clear logs" to remove all old logs and get a clean start
    2. Reproduce the problem you're having, whether it's connecting the phone, importing photos, doing backup...
    3. In BfM, hold the "alt" key down while selecting the ”Xperia” menu. Select "Export logs"
    4. On the computers desktop there should now be a file named "SonyBridgeForMacLogs_[date].zip
    5. PM a shared dropbox link to me. Best regards Fredrik

  • Transfer Sony DV Cassettes to Mac

Hi. I have a Sony Digital Video Camera Recorder Mini DV (Tape, not disk) Model DCR-PC105. I am connecting to my Apple Mac (iDVD '08) using a 4pin-6pin firewire cable. I would like to know how I can transfer video from the tape directly to my computer (not burn a DVD) as I want to compile a library of video on my mac, edit and then burn edited portions onto a DVD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. David

Hi Klaus - Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I am unable to import into iMovie as it appears that my tape camcorder is not supported by iMovie 8. Do you know any work around to transfer my tape so that I can get it onto iMovie 8 from my sony camcorder? Thanks. David

  • Can I use TC as Main HD and backup onto Macs

    Hi,
    Excuse my lack of knowledge.
I've just bought a time capsule as a solution to keeping my iMac and Macbook Synced. I didn't know much about them and didn't know if it was the answer but thought it a good idea to be able to backup my Macs anyway.
I'm waiting for the iMac to finish its first backup, yawn, and have just thought up my ideal solution.
I would like to use the TC as my permanent hard drive and access files on it from my iMac and macbook, but then haven't got the guts not to have the files on it backed up.
Is it possible to use it as the main HD but have my iMac back up its content using time machine?
If not can anyone suggest a better solution?
I've tried dropbox but again haven't the guts to leave valuable files in the cloud alone.
Thanks to everyone in advance for their help,
    Vici

TM is a backup/restore system. You cannot use a TC backup to boot a Mac. TM/TC does not make a bootable backup. The TC also connects via Ethernet or wireless and you cannot boot a Mac over either.
Why exactly do you want to use the TC in this particular way? I suggest you might see:
A  whole  lot  about  Time  Machine for help with TM problems.  Also you can select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "time machine" to locate articles on how to use TM.  See also Mac 101- Time Machine.
Also, carefully read the user guide that came with your TC.

  • Photo file transfer from mobile phone onto Mac-cannot open photos in iPhoto

Message reads: "Unreadable files: 1 The following file could not be imported. (The file is in the iPhoto Library Folder.)"
I have successfully transferred photos from my mobile phone into my iPhoto Library, however I cannot see or edit these in iPhoto. They have been transferred as Preview shots and are only viewable in Finder: /Users/aaronandjuliemuir/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Fiji Iguana with Max.jpg
Why can't I see these in my actual iPhoto application?

    Why?
The following file could not be imported. (The file is in the iPhoto Library Folder.)"
Drag the file from the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop and then try and import it.

  • Transferring music and pictures onto my new ipad

How do you transfer music and photos onto your new iPad mini?

There are many ways to do this and doing iTunes way is one old fashioned way that works but requires way too much skill.
Another way is to transfer to cloud drives like Dropbox and then read it off that
The third way is to use applications like ours called Pad2Mac wherein you install an agent on the Mac and then all files show up on your iPad and whichever one you need locally just download it to your iPad or iPhone over a wireless connection.

  • I have a new iMac running iTunes 10.4 in OS 10.6.8, and a new Mac Air running iTunes 10.4 in Lion.  I was able to transfer all my music etc. from the iMac onto the Air, but cannot figure out how to get the Playlists from the iMac to the Air.  iTunes Help

I have a new iMac running iTunes 10.4 in OS 10.6.8, and a new Mac Air running iTunes 10.4 in Lion.  I was able to transfer all my music etc. from the iMac onto the Air, but cannot figure out how to get the Playlists from the iMac to the Air.  iTunes Help says File >Library >Export playlist and choose XML, or to save a copy of all your playlists, File > Library > Export Library, "the Exported info is saved in XML format."  Then it says, "to import an iTunes playlist, File > Library > Import Playlist".  Now I am assuming I do that import part on the Air, but when I try it doesn't recognize anything that can be imported - what am I missing??? Aside from a clue...

Thanks, Jim, for taking the time, but the reply is unfortunately vague in the exact area of my confusion!  "you need to copy that file to your new computer..."  Well, the Import/Export instructions make it seem as if the two computers should be able to communicate this file thru wifi, but that's the linkage I can't seem tocreate with Import/Export.  Should I instead email a copy to myself (thats what applecare suggested)?  Copy it to and from a thumb drive?  But then place the file where?  And the article was helpful, but should I be trying to move the Library file or the Library.xml file (as iTunes Help suggests)?  Sorry to be so clueless about it...I suppose I buy Apple in the hopes of not having to think about this stuff, which approach seems not to be serving me well. Thanks again for your time!

How can I recover the NAS back up to put on my new Time Machine.
Talking to Apple Support Adviser was a waste of time on case number 239647273
    Any thoughts or pointers?

Keep the old OS around and just kick the tires and test new OS. Apple has a history and habit of breaking support in things like this.
You can use TimeMachine as one level of backup, and even there there were changes with Lion, I would always recommend foremost backup clones of every volume. And clone (SuperDuper etc) can be stored on something like HP NAS Media Server which also was supporting TimeMachine, iTunes - until Apple made that harder and more their own proprietary format.

Rather than "upgrade" I would clone the system, and do a clean install, then allow Setup Assistant to import your files.

  • If I have an ipod touch and an itunes account, can i get a shuffle and transfer songs i have onto it?

If I have a Mac computer and have an itunes account, can I download songs onto an iPod shuffle if I already have an iPod touch?  If so, how do I do that?  I'd like to get an iPod shuffle for when I work out.  Thanks for your help!

    Yes.
Connect the shuffle to your Mac, launch iTunes.
From the iTunes menu bar click File > Sync iPod
If the music stored on the iPod touch you will need to transfer iTunes purchases to the Mac first then sync the shuffle.

  • Transfer songs and library file from PC to Mac KEEPING them on external drive

I am struggling to find a definitive answer to this. I have all my files stored on an external hard drive on a PC.
I recently got a Macbook and want to transfer all my files to the new Mac.
I know that I will need a new Mac compatible external hard drive and that I will have to copy the files onto the new hard drive.
However I cannot find instructions on doing the transfer to the new Mac that explain doing this AND KEEPING the files on the external drive.
To clarify...I don't want to put them on the new Macs hard drive as I have around 300GB of music, I want to keep them on the external hard drive.
its probably very simple simple but am struggling to get a decent answer. have read loads of stuff that explain moving it to the mac hard drive ...buts thats not what I want to do!
    thanks in advance

See Make a split library portable. A portable library can be stored entirely on an external drive and moved between Mac and Windows computers. iTunes takes a little longer to open the library the first time after each switch. If your drive is currently formatted to NTFS then you will need an additional driver to enable OS X to write to the drive, or simply clone the library to an HFS+ drive.

I have a dozen audio cassettes from 1978-1985 that i would like to transfer to cd or file format to preserve the voices.
My desktop mac is two years old and runs os x 10.9.5.
What is the easiest way to do this?
i read that if my mac has a 3.5 mm line-level input that i could connect a cassette play directly to my mac.
    Does my mac have it?
what is the easiest way to transfer the audio cassettes? do i want then in wave format?
