Hi Dpearlman,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand you have a movie on one of your Apple computers and you would like to move it to a different MacBook Air. Please use the following article for different ways to accomplish this.

  • What do I need to transfer data from my old MacBook Air to a new MacBook Air

what do I need to transfer files and programs from my old MacBook Air using OSX Lion 10.7.5 to a new MacBook Air?

An external USB drive on which you can install a clone of your old computer's drive. You csn then connect it to your new computer and use Migration Assistant to migrate your data to the new computer. Or you can manually select which of your files you want and copy them to the new computer.

  • How do I transfer music from iBookG4 to MacBook Air?

How do I transfer music from my old iBookG4 to new MacBook Air?
I've tried Home Sharing and it also brings across a couple of albums. Help much appreciated!
    Thank you in advance.

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.  If you have to use a small flash drive to do the moving you can copy the files and folders groups at a time but make sure they all end up in the same folder structure in the end.
If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
Longer answers if for any reason you do not think all library files are inside your iTunes folder (changed preferences settings at some point):
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
2011 ilounge article: Transferring your iTunes library - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/  - An article with good background information (similar to the links above), particularly if you are not sure your media files are all grouped for quick answer above. Unfortunately under the single term "transferring library" it describes two very different moves; relocating just your media (not  really transferring your library and not recommended unless you really need this configuration), and relocating media+database (really your whole "library").  Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media.

  • How to transfer files from imac to macbook air

I recently received my macbook air and I was trying to transfer iWork to my new macbook.
Typically, I have no problems in the transfer process when I have done this before from my iMac to my Powerbook. And now, with the Macbook Air, my iMac tells me that the device isn't connected to the Macbook Air....but it IS showing that it is discovered.
    Sounds very confusing, I know.
I just need to know how to transfer Pages to my Macbook Air from my iMac.
If anyone can help, PLEASE DO!
    Thanks!

  • Transfer iWork from iMac to MacBook Air (mid 2011)

I've scoured the message boards and technical support pages but haven't secured an answer for my specific (and surprisingly uncommon) question.
I just got a MacBook Air (2011) and am looking to install software from my iMac (2009) via Wireless Network.
I started with Migration Assistant, but I never got the option to choose which applications I wanted to migrate.  With 128GB of space in the Air, I don't want ALL my iMac software coming over!
So, is there a way to pick and choose the applications you want migrated?
Or is there another method to install programs from my iMac to my Air?
I don't have a CD or DVD of iWork.  My iMac is running Snow Leopard (and I don't have a desire to upgrade that machine to Lion yet).
    Thanks in advance!

How did you initially obtain iWork? If you purchased the boxed set then you have a DVD. If you purchased it to be pre-installed on your computer when you bought it, then it's on the Software Restore discs that came with the computer. If you purchased and downloaded it from the App Store then you can re-download it by signing into the App Store with the same Apple ID that was used to purchase it.
If you've lost the original media then it would likely be cheaper to purchase and download the current versions from the App Store.

  • How to transfer movies from mac book to ipad, how to transfer movies from mac book to iPad, how to transfer movies from mac book to iPad

I have downloaded a tv series onto my mac book and want to transfer it to my Ipad. I have used the USB cable to try and transfer and sync but it wont work
    can anyone help
    Thank you

In iTunes select your iPad from the left-hand pane under 'Devices', then select the appropriate tab from the top. If it's a movie then select 'Films', if it's a TV series then select 'TV Programmes'.  You can check which is the correct one to use by selecting the category from the top of the left-hand pane and seeing which one the item you want to synchronise is in.  Then ensure that 'Sync Films/TV Programmes' is checked.  Finally click the 'Sync' button in the bottom right of iTunes.

  • Dont want to transfer movies from ATV to macbook!!

    1. In order to view any of that media, does it have to be physically copied to the ATV hardrive via sync (therefore creating two copies of each media file, one on my IMac and one on ATV)?
no, it can be streamed from the mac to the appletv
    2. Can I watch or listen to any of that media without copying the files to the ATV (ie: can I stream to ATV from ITunes on my IMac - like Airtunes?)
    yes, see above
    3. If I buy a movie on ATV, I assume it downloads to the HD in ATV. Then I assume if I sync ITunes it will create a second copy of that movie file on my IMac?
no, it will move the purchased item to itunes. if you want it back on the appletv you would need to sync it to it yourself.
    4. If I've watched that movie, and I don't want it taking up HD space on the ATV....how do I delete it from ATV?
you remove any content from the appletv by using itunes and adjusting your sync options.
    5. Finally, if I buy a movie in Itunes on my IMac and want to watch it via ATV and I have to synch it over there..... this means that before I can watch that movie I have to first wait for it to download into Itunes and then wait for it to sync a copy to ATV?
    yes that is correct.

  • Can't transfer iBooks from Mac to iPad Air

I have just recently got an iPad Air and am trying to sync a couple epub books I downloaded.  All of the research I've done to try and sync them tells me I can sync it through iTunes.  But when I choose File>Devices>Sync, it doesn't give me the option of "books".  It is only giving me the option to sync "my iPad".  I don't know where I'm going wrong or why other options won't come up.  Help?

My mac's got OSX 10.6 and the Windows Phone app doesn't support it.
    Does this help?
If you use a Windows Phone 8 device, you have to go for Windows Phone App 3, at least I had to. Therefore, you need at least OS X v10.7. Because OS X v10.9 is offered for free even for OS X v10.6 users, did you consider that path?

You plugged it into your Mac? Works here!
Nokia 300 » Menu » Settings » USB » ‘Ask on connection’ or ‘Memory Card’.

also tried plugging a micro SD into an SD adapter into a computer/SD adapter and that didn't work either (though I reckon it's the adapter that's broken).
If you Mac does not show the microSD on the desktop, what SD-Adapter do you use (brand/model)? Some require a software driver to be installed to work with OS X.

Everything you need to know, right here. Make sure you read through it BEFORE you turn on the new Mac for the first time. This is because the preferred means is using Setup Assistant, which is only available form the first boot.

Hi I bought 2TB WD my passport for mac but I do not know what I can delete from the original macbook air. Thank you.

That depends on what you have on the MBA...if you have videos, move the videos to the external drive.  If you have a lot of music, create a folder/library for the music and point iTunes there for the music.  If you have a lot of photos for iPhoto, make a new library on the external drive and move our photos over there and then select that library as the default library for iPhoto to use.
Those are the big files and should take a lot of the load off the internal storage.
