Transfer music from Mac iTunes to Windows

Hi everybody!
Is there any way to get my music from the iTunes Library on my iBook to my PC's iTunes Library through my network? Since my iBook has OS 10.3, I cannot use my iPod. Both computers are connected to my network. The laptop uses AirPort, and the PC desktop is hard-wired.
I have enabled Personal File Sharing and Windows File Sharing in System Preferences, and I do not have a firewall running. My PC won't even let me open Windows Firewall, so there's nothing stopping it on that end.
I can get my mac's library to appear in iTunes on the PC, but when I try to load my PC's library on my Mac, I get the error message, "The shared library 'Nathan's Desktop Library' could not be found. Please make sure communication on port 3689 are not blocked." (or something like that.)
Even when a library does appear on my PC, it doesn't let you transfer music to your own library. Is there any way to get around this?
I purchased some music from iTunes on my laptop, not realizing that I couldn't transfer anything with my iPod, and I can't burn CDs.

Hello, everyone. You can forget I ever asked this question. I simply used a flash drive to transfer the files. I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

Your iPhone is not a backup/storage device. You can transfer music from iPhone to iTunes: go to ~/Music/iTunes in your previous account (I presume you mean that you made a "new account" on your Mac) and copy all its contents to somewhere in your new account (not ~/Music/iTunes). Then drag the entire iTunes folder onto the iTunes app icon.

If you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the left-hand sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC, which might make things easier. Then connect the iPod and select it on that left-hand sidebar, and then on the right-hand side of iTunes select the Music tab - you should then be able to select which of your music to sync to your iPod

Move the song files to the desired computer and then either drag them into the library in the open iTunes application window or the Automatically Add to iTunes folder. If this would cause the single library to have content from more than five Apple IDs, you may not be able to sync it to an iPod or iOS device.

If you are using iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
For all other non purchased music (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it can be messy.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
There is also CopyPod. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
'Tranferring' implies the change of ownership, which isn't possible.
If you mean share the content, this can be done by homesharing.

Iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
    What have you tried?

  • Can I transfer music from my iTunes library to Google Playstore?

I's like to transfer music from my iTunes library on the laptop across to a Motorola G mobile phone - possibly via Google Playstore. Is this possible?

I think AAC will get you a little better quality for
the same file size of an Mp3. If I recall, iTunes
saves the original file and makes a copy with the
converted version. But to be safe, just make a backup
    copy of the original file
And I take it that it makes no difference what format the file is in, it will still upload to the iPod and be playable there. I guess the default is set at AAC in iTunes and I never knew where/how to change it.
Thanks so much for your help!

How do I transfer music from my itunes playlist to my iphone?

Maddening!!!!! What used to work now doesn't!
Where did simple drag and drop go? Apple invented it!
I have an iPhone 5s and want to transfer Playlists from my desktop iMac to the iPhone. I have had these products since their first releases years ago. I am a computer power user. What used to be a simpe "drag and drop" of your Playlist (yes, in Column View which I have turned on now) to your iPhone was easy and you were set. It is now impossible to do. Or easily!
There are been other posts on this. I have tried them all. None work or the explanations are not adequate.
WHY IS THIS SAME **** HARD WHEN IT USED TO BE DRAG AND DROP?
PS: Fire the iTune Product Manager who did this version..get Jony Ive on the case to fix the User Interface Design ASAP!

How do I transfer music from my itunes library to my wife's on the same computer? I am trying to put the music that is on my phone on her phone.

Has she transferred iTunes content to her iPhone from an iTunes library on another computer or from a different iTunes library on the same computer?
If not, you transfer music to her iPhone from your iTunes library in the same way the music was transferred to your iPhone. If she has any iTunes content on her iPhone that was transferred from a different iTunes library, all iTunes content on her iPhone will be erased first.

  • HT2688 how to transfer music from my itunes account to my husbands new iphone

I have an existing itunes account which my husband had purchased music on and now he has a new iphone and, of course, his own itunes account.  I have synced but have only managed to download all his apps to my computer...but he still has no music.  I have turned on the home share but still hasn't worked.  when I've looked online for assistance it says to "turn on the settings for iphone>settings>ipod... well has has no ipod (other than nike + ipod), so I went to settings>music>and signed in to home sharing with his own account ID and PW.... any body have a solution?

    I'm confused.
You don't transfer music from an iTunes account. You transfer it from an iTunes library. Plug in the phone and sync it.

    Okay.
I have synced but have only managed to download all his apps to my computer...but he still has no music.
You have sync'd your iPhone or his iPhone?
I have turned on the home share but still hasn't worked
Are you trying to Home Share between different computers?
Or between iTunes libraries on the same computer?
Are you using the same computer? Different computers?
Are you using the same computer login or do you each have your own?
If he purchased music previously on your account, is this music in your iTunes library? His iTunes library? Is there only one iTunes library?
