Transfer my address book from Microsoft Works to Thunderbird

I want to transfer my address book from Microsoft Works on my computer to Thunderbird. I found Outlook Express much easier to deal with, but I do like Firefox.

What version do you have?
You know that to add a addon you
first download with firefox and save it somewhere
Then open addons in TB,
Click on the cogwheel and choose ''Install Add-on from file''
locate your downloaded file
and install.
I think I jumped a step. You have to EXPORT in csv using outlook's own tools.
and then IMPORT into TB using MoreFunctionsForAddressBook

    Hi there!
The device switch wizard is available for many non-BB devices...see this KB:
KB05459 How to use the Switch Device Wizard to switch from another smartphone to a BlackBerry smartphone
If your old device is not compatible with the wizard, then you need to find out if the old device can export the data you desire so that the BB can import it:
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
If you are already using a compatible desktop PIM with your old device, then the RIM software can import from the PIM and bypass the old device completely:
KB12268 Applications supported by BlackBerry Desktop Manager for synchronization
KB17022 How to configure synchronization settings for BlackBerry Desktop Manager
If that does not work, then please return to these forums (http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/) and register an account so that we can provide you with direct assistance.

  • How do I transfer an address book from one computer to another?

I'm trying to transfer an address book from my G4 to my Imac G5 and can't seem to figure out how to do it. I've tried exporting out of one, but the other doesn't read it. These computers are not connected so I'm transferring via cd.
    Thanks,
    Dick Skover

    Hi Dick
If they are both running Tiger
Use "Backup Address Book" in Address Book > File to make a copy then
"Revert to Address Book Backup" on the iMac
I use this for backing up both Address Book and iCal as a matter of course (it is the Apple recommended way in the Help files) I put them into a folder in my "Documents" and clear old copies once a month. If you use .Mac I would certainly recommend it seeing the problems with data loss some folks have had.

  • How do i transfer my address book from one computer to another

Old computer is XP new compiuter is 7. Mozilla Thunderbird is the email program. Both are installed on separate computers.

On your old computer (XP), go to Thunderbird (TB)
    select Address Book
highlight which address book you want (such as Personal Address Book)
from menu bar select Tools then Export
enter a name such as addresses.ldif Use LDIF rather than CSV format!
select a destination folder such as Documents
    click Save
copy the file (addresses.ldif) to your new computer via disk, memory card, or even email!
put the file in your Documents folder on the new computer (Win7)
On your new computer, go to TB
    select Address Book
from menu bar select Tools then Import
    click Address Books then Next
    highlight Text File (LDIF, ...)
    click Next
select the folder (Documents) and file (addresses.ldif) and click Open
    the addresses will be imported
    success! click Finish
    Notes:
The address book you import will take on the name of the file without the .ldif extension (e.g. addresses). You can rename the file before you import it. Just keep the .ldif extension.
If you want more than one word in the name, use an underscore instead of a space (e.g. Personal_Contacts). Don't use spaces! They really complicate things.

  • How do I transfer and address book from a samsung a920 to my blackberry curve?

I got the bluetooth to pair up and it gives me the option to transfer my address book...and it even says it does transfer it....but nothing got moved over....anyone have a clue?

Can you sync that phone with Outlook? If so, do that and then plug in the BB and transfer the Outlook Addresses to the BB....also, I know that the Y ahoo 3.0 program will sync the addresses, so use that with the samsung, load it onto the BB and transfer that way.

  • Importing Address Book from Microsoft Outlook Express 5 for Mac (v5.02)

I just made the leap to a Mac Pro 8 Core from a 350MHz G3. I was running 10.3.9 on the G3, but I was still using the old Outlook mail program because I was comfortable with it. Now I can't figure out how to import the address book into Mail 3.3. I know I waited too long to buy a new computer, But I was able to do what I wanted to do with my old machine. (In fact, the G3 was six years old when I went from OS 9.2.2 to 10.3.9. It worked better with 10.3.9 than it did with all the other OS's I ran on it. Try THAT with a PC!!!) So if I'm hosed, I'm hosed, I can live with that, but I wanted to pick the collective brains of my fellow Mac community people before I threw in the towel.

    Sorry - its late
But you still should be able to export a CVS (Excel comma delimited file) - almost any address book can

  • How do transfer my address book from my PC to my Mac desktop?

I was advised at the Apple shop to save my address book as a business card but this does not work for the whole address book. It only seems to work one address at the time. Am I doing something wrong?

  • How to transfer my address book from Windows?

Is there a way to transfer my contact names from my windows XP outlook to my Mac address book?

Depending on the version of Outlock...
Use Thunderbird on the PC as an intermediary step.
    Import contacts to T-Bird.
Export addresses from t-bird to LDIF file
Get that file to your mac, and use the import function of AddressBook.

  • I lost my mac book air, i have all my data in a backup disc, but i can´t transfer my address book from that device to mi I Mac.

I lost my Mac Book Air, and I have all my data backed up in a G-drive slim disc, I'm trying to recover my adress book to the agenda in my I Mac at home,
but when I'm trying to do that I recieve a message that the vcard's cannot be oppened, because they have a diferent format, what can I do to recover all my telephone numbers and adresses?.

    Hi CJR
I'm not sure how Time Capsule can be replicated onto your external drive but there is a USB port on the back of TC that can be hooked up to any recent external drive.
Another thing to think about , besides a Time Capsule failure, is the theft of your Time Capsule, so it might be a good idea to consider separating any redundant back-up from your Time Capsule or both my be stolen.
TC will back up until full and then begin deleting the oldest back-ups.  Mine is a 2TB Time capsule.
My back-up plan is as follows:
    1.  Macbook Air back-up on Time Capsule though Time Machine backs up everything - I think it's about every 30 min or so.
    2.  Contacts, reminders, appointments, notes, email are backed up through iCloud.
    3.  iTunes and non-itunes purchased music is on iMatch (and no need to back-up) and any non-iTunes music is backed up on an HP external drive (in case Time Capsule dies)
    4.  Photos are on my MacBook Air and are backed up on my HP external drive.
    5.  Office documents (Excel, Powerpoint, Access etc) are stored in a Skydrive app (like iCloud) and Skydrive syncs these docuemnts with the MS  cloud and my old PC and does not alter their native format like storing in iCloud would do.
    Cheers

  • Transfer address book from M-access to Mac address book

    Hi,
I have a relatively new MacBook pro 17", and i am new to the whole operating system.
My old laptop running on Windows XP has all my houses address's for friends and everyone on it stored in Microsoft Access, and i wish to transfer this to the mac addresss book.
can anyone help me with this?
I would also like to say that when i have tried opening up the address's in M-Access i have exported them as a .txt file yet Mac Address book does not recognise this.
I have already also managed to transfer email address's from Microsoft outlook and this worked fine.
If you know the answer would you mind emailing me to
    [email protected]
    MacBook pro 17" Mac OS X (10.4.8) 2.33ghz 2gb X1600-256vram

no, from Microsoft access i can not export a text file,
for some reason it doesn't have this option
    thanks

  • How to transfer Address Book from old iMac to new MacBook Pro?

I will soon be getting a MacBook Pro 15" Intel Core i5 with Snow Leopard and want to transfer my Address Book from my old 2003 iMac flat 15" panel running 10.4.11. What is the best way to do that? Is there a particular file or folder that I can copy onto a flash drive to transfer to the new computer? Or can I use my Mobile Me Backup that is on my external drive (or on CD) to do it even though the Backup on the new computer would be a newer version from the older Backup that has the data? I would like to avoid having to use the Migration Assistant if I can, since it looks like that is designed to transfer whole categories of files (like all "files and folders", etc.), which I don't want to do. Thanks in advance for the help.

When I bought my new MacBook Pro, the sales person showed me how to do the V-card method that you suggested. I tried it at home, and it worked. I have been worrying for years about the best way to do this, so was very relieved to find such a simple method. David Pogue in the Tiger Missing Manual also mentioned another tip which I used: he said to select all the address entries you want to transfer (in my case it was all of them) and then just drag the whole lot out onto the desktop. A V-card icon appeared that said: "Name of Person plus 344 others". I then copied that to a flash drive and then onto the new computer desktop. I then dragged it into the Address Book window. As you said it was done in a matter of seconds. Thank you so much!

  • Transfer Address Book from Pearl to Curve

The USB port on the Pearl is partially broken so that it will take a charge but not transfer data. So I bought a Curve and want to use bluetooth to transfer the address book from the Pearl to the Curve if possible.  Is that possible?
Here is what I've done. I added the Pearl as a bluetooth device on the Curve and the Curve onto the Pearl. In Bluetooth options on each device, I set the Discoverable as Yes, Allow Outgoing Calls as Always, and Address Book Transfer as All Entries. Then I had one device Search for the Other which was set to 'Allow another device to find me.' The searching device showed "1 found" then listed "No new device found; ensure the device you are searching for is in pairing mode. Search again?" I reversed the process and had the Curve search and the Pearl "Allow". No success. What else do I need to do?
I tried to connect the Pearl to the Blackberry Desktop Manager via bluetooth but although my Tecra device manager shows that there is a bluetooth rfcomm, the Bluetooth Local Com says there are no existing com ports and the bluetooth device is not ready. The Tecra device manager lists the following ports - BT Com 19, BT Com 20, BT Com 21, and RIM Virtual Serial Port V2 9 and Port V2 10.
Is there any way to avoid having to re-enter all 387 contacts which include names, mutliple phone numbers and addresses???
    Bruce

I bought a USB BlueTooth dongle for those situations and Sync the phone with desktop manager.

  • Transfer address book from other mac ?

How do I transfer my address book from older mac to new macbook pro?

I assume you means the contacts. The Address Book includes an export feature, which may be slightly different for an earlier version. At the menu bar, go to File > Export. If there is an Address Book Archive selection, use that.
Transfer the exported archive to your new Mac. Use the import option with the Address Book on your new Mac to import the archive.
