Transfer my purchased items to a new computer

I am on a temporary computer. I have purchased a movie and other things on the itunes online store. Is it possible for me to put those on my new computer when i get it? If so, how would i go about doing that?

I need to transfer all purchased music to a new computer.. Can I download them again or sync to the new computer??

Anything you want to transfer, just copy it to a USB flash drive or external hard drive, and from there to the new computer.
If you want to keep your iTunes library intact, as far as playcounts, playlists, etc, a few extra steps are required. First, on the old machine, run Library > Consolidate. Then copy the entire iTunes folder to the external device, and from there to the new machine.

  • Can I transfer my purchased items to a new apple device

My 3rd Generation Ipod Touch stopped working recently and it looks like it can't be repaired and is no longer any use, I am wondering if it is possible to recover my downloaded / purchased items onto an new Ipod Touch?
I plugged it into charge in  a mains wall charger and was actually using it as well, next there was a pop from the charger and the Ipod went off. I contacted a repair clinic and they suggested it may just be the battery might have gone pop, so I left it to them the investigate. They were unable to do anything with it.

The iTunes backup does not included synced media like apps and music. If iTunes purchases are not in your iTunes library you can redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Since iTunes can't see your old iPod you can't get anything off the iPod.

  • HELP! How do I transfer my itunes purchased items to a new computer

So my old computer with MANY purchased items died..I was able to transfer songs from my ipod to the purchased section of Itunes on my new PC..but what about all the other purchased songs? How come they don't load up onto the itunes on my new pc?

Depending on the type of old computer you had and you still have it. It is possible to pull the harddrive from the old computer (if the harddrive is still good) and either purchase a external harddrive case with usb support or hook the old drive up to one of either SATA or IDE (depending on type, If IDE then the master slave or cable select jumper needs to be in the proper place)connections in your computer and use it as a extra drive.

  • How Do I Restore My Purchased items onto a New Computer in iTunes

    Hello,
I backed up all of my purchased songs and TV shows onto 3 DVDs and then I purchased a new iMac G5. My iTunes account is authorized to the same account my old Mac was, and I am trying to move all of the files into iTunes on my new computer, but it won't let me. Any advice how I transfer all of my purchased items back onto my new iMac G5. Thank you very much for any help.
    Ben

Ben, this is a simple task — assuming, of course, that everything on the old computer was/is working fine. You can connect the old computer to the new one via Firewire and use migration assistant. It should pull everything over there for you.
If you are having problems (as I am), then, like me, you'll have to wait for someone who knows something to see your post.

is there a way to transfer items purchased under one apple ID to a newly-created apple ID?

    No.

  • How can i transfer my purchased items to a new apple ID?

I currently have an apple ID that i use for all my iMessages and everything else i do except for my app and itunes purchase. I know we don't have the option to merge 2 apple Id's yet so i was wondering if there is a way to transfer what I've already purchased to the other apple ID i have. In a sense merging by transferring everything over.

There is no way to merge or transfer anything to another AppleID. The App Store license also specifies that purchases cannot be transferred.

It sounds like you might have broken links to your content. Either repair these by putting the files you've recovered where iTunes expects to find them or delete the broken entries then go to iTunes Store > Purchased > Music > Not on This Computer, and click the download links.

I recently purchased a new PC. I had backed-up my old computer on Carbonite, so I was able to transfer my iTunes library to the new computer when I downloaded my info from Carbonite, but the playlists are gone. Is there a way to restore my playlists?
Most of my playlists are on my iPod. If I use my iPod to transfer, will the songs double in my library? Also, how do I do this?
Thank you for any & all info you can provide!
    Julie

If you had backed up and restored your library properly you should have ended up with the playlists too. Did you import the media folder from the backup drive into a new library rather than restoring the entire iTunes folder?

No, just a reminder that you should do so beforehand, which you have already done.

    I am a bit of a computer/Internet/iTunes dummy....
I am concerned about the health of my current computer but have not yet made the commitment to a new one, but:
    1) How can I transfer my iTunes account to a new computer when I get one...
    and
    2) What can I do if my current computer suddenly implodes and I have not yet 'copied/'saved'/otherwise protected my account, as is? -- I have already had my computer crash once and had one of your people help me restore all of the paid for songs (none of the uploaded from my own collection of CD songs, of course, so I had to spend a long time rebuilding that) -- and I believe I was told you could only help me recover that material one or two times altogether, no?
WithOUT purchasing a Mach or iCloud (I actually think I have one of the later, but rarely have checked it) account, is there anything I can do to responsibly protect my account?
Thanks for any time taken on this!!!

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • How do I transfer the purchased items on my iPhone to my iTunes library?

When I connect my iPhone to my computer, I get the message that a newer version of iPhone software is available. However, when I click on the link to download and install the software, I get the message "There are purchased items on the iPhone that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone." How do I transfer the purchased items on my iPhone to my iTunes library?

You may need to enable the Menu Bar.
In the upper right hand corner, there should be a small box, half dark colored and half light, with a small arrow next to it. Click there, and choose "Show Menu Bar" from the resulting menu. At that point, you should be able to select File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, as explained by roaminggnome.
A second option you have is to show the sidebar by going to View > Show Sidebar. After this is done, right click on your device in the sidebar, and "Transfer Purchases" should be an option.

How do I transfer my iPod content to a new computer?

The link that brought you here tells you how, as far as Apple has designed it.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

How do I transfer my itunes library to a new computer from my iPhone. The old computer no longer works.

    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!
