how do i transfer my itunes account (with all my music, photos and ipad apps) from a macbook pro to a new macbook air?

thanks but exactly how do I do this.  I tried setting the new macair up using migration assistant but for some reason not everything has come through.  I bought a thunderbolt cable to improve the transfer rate.
Now my question is how do I transfer the iTunes folder.  I have authorised the new macair for iTunes and am within the 5 computer limit.

Do you have your system backed up to Time Machine? If so, you can open your user Library and copy your Mail folder from Time Machine to your Desktop on your new machine; then copy THAT folder to your new machine's user Library.
To get to your user Library, open Finder and Go and press the Option key. Library will show up. Click on it to get into your user Library. Now go into Time Machine and you should see your user Library for Time Machine. Restore the Mail folder to your Desktop.

There is no account stored on any computer, the library however is stored.
To move the iTunes library from one computer to another, copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from one computer to another.

    I am a bit of a computer/Internet/iTunes dummy....
I am concerned about the health of my current computer but have not yet made the commitment to a new one, but:
    1) How can I transfer my iTunes account to a new computer when I get one...
    and
    2) What can I do if my current computer suddenly implodes and I have not yet 'copied/'saved'/otherwise protected my account, as is? -- I have already had my computer crash once and had one of your people help me restore all of the paid for songs (none of the uploaded from my own collection of CD songs, of course, so I had to spend a long time rebuilding that) -- and I believe I was told you could only help me recover that material one or two times altogether, no?
WithOUT purchasing a Mach or iCloud (I actually think I have one of the later, but rarely have checked it) account, is there anything I can do to responsibly protect my account?
Thanks for any time taken on this!!!

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
Note if you have iOS devices and haven't moved your contacts and calendar items across then you should create one dummy entry of each in your new profile and iTunes should  merge the existing data from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library or a backup then then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • Can I transfer purchases between accounts?

I want my sister to get a new iTunes account, can I transfer purchases between accounts so that she can keep her stuff?

You can't currently transfer purchases between accounts as Apple haven't added that ability.  As long as the old account remains authorised on the computer that they sync to then they should be able to continue using that music, and it will remain on their phones.
If they do create their own accounts then if they turn on automatic downloads or re-download past purchases for an account then they risk tying the phone (or computer if that is where they do it) to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627

  • Transfer of BT account/contract to flat mate ??? P...

    Hello,
Would someone from BT please clarify this matter. My daughter was sharing a flat with another girl and the BT account for phone broadband and BT vision was in my daughters name due to BT declining the other girl on the basis of poor credit. Afrer 6 months my daughter decided to move out of the flat and contacted BT and was told she could not transfer the account to the other person in the flat. Her options given by BT were either transfer the account to another property or cancel the account. Transferring the account was not an option as the place she was moving into already had broadband. My daughter was left with cancelling the account and having to pay nearly £300 in fees. My daughter cancelled the account and payed the bill in full.
She is know taking the other girl to court to recover 50% of the bill. She conatcted BT and spoke with a woman in Indau who could not speak or spell Englaish properly, then she was transferred to another man who said it was possible to transfer an account. My daughter asked for confirmation in writing and was told because she was no longer a BT customer she could not have a letter. This call lasted 55 mins all at 15p a minute.
Would some kind person please confirm the fact that you cannot transfer an account to a flat mate. Also, how can we get this in writing as proof to the court as my daughter has issued a county court summons to recover half of the fees from the other girl.
BT really need to have a simple mechanism for people in my daughters situation to get the information she needs.
I hope someone from BT can confirm matters clearly and how we can get this in writing.
    kind regards
    Peter

    Hi Wired4net,
Welcome to the community forum. I am sorry to hear about the problems your daughter has had in getting a clear answer from BT.
It is not possible to transfer a BT account from one person to another. The reason for this is when the contract started it was for a minimum term of 12 or 18 month, the agreement was between the account holder and BT for that minimum term. There is also a credit check involved.
The only was for the flat mate to take over the line, is your daughter would have had to cease her account and the flat mate would have to reorder the service in their name. This means that this would have been the start of a new contract agreement with the flat mate and would also include the flat mate being credit checked.
If your daughter has cancelled the service while still under contract, then cancellation charge would apply as stated in the original agreement when she signed up to the service.
    Thanks

  • How do I transfer my iTunes account from a PC to a Mac?

How do I transfer my iTunes account from a PC to a Mac?

There's a couple of things you can do. First, on your Mac, log in to iTunes with your Apple ID. This will allow you to download the songs you've already purchased on iTunes. Transferring the files manually can be tideous, so I would reccommend calling Apple Support and they will guide your through it, or you can schedule an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, and they will help take care of it for you.
    Hope this helps,
    Corey

  • How do i transfer my iTunes account from Macbook air to windows 8 pc

I have a Macbook air newest model and i want to transfer my itunes account to a wondows 8 pc.?

An account is what you use to buy media from the iTunes Store. A library is a collection of media on a computer.  Which one?
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder.
