Transfer of mp3's to transflash makes a duplicate unusable file

When I drag mp3's from itunes to my transflash, they show up on my samsung mm a920 mp3 player as two files. One is a perfectly fine playable file, the other has the same title but with ._ in front of it. When I click on this it comes back with application error m508. Been round and round with every support line but this one. Can anyone crack this mystery? It's a hard one.

this is normal behaviour, since Finder has always done that. First, this is necessary for Mac OS files containing data AND resource forks (there's nothing similar in MS WinWorld). Second, remembering the position of your windows on the screen needs other files (.DAT, for each folder). All of these files are hidden for MacOS X Finders. This is not the case for other OS's.
Actually, viewing FAT formated volumes (be hard drives, memory cards, mp3 player...) MODIFIED by MacOS's (even v6 to v9.2.2 Classic OS's) in an OS other than MacOS X, you will see these files !
Solution : each time you modify the contents of a memory card (or usb mp3 player also)n, you must "clean" it.

The first thing that you should probably do is to turn off auto syncing just in case....or have you already done that?
Launch iTunes and got to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing.
Now you will have to launch iTunes on your own when you connect the iPad to the Mac. After you connect and start iTunes, click on your device, them click on the Summary Window. If you uncheck Manually Manage, etc. - then the option to select Sync only Selected Songs and Videos should be available. I don't think you can have both options selected at the same time.
You should also transfer your purchased music into iTunes is you haven't done that yet. Take a look at this now.

After you transfer purchases, You should be able to select and choose whatever you want to sync with regard to music, playlists, albums, etc ...as well as apps, photos and so on.

Anything is possible but I am not aware of it happening. What is possible is to get an infected item on the iPod where it will cause no problem and then transfer it to a PC where it could cause a problem.

I just have a hard time comprehending why they don't handle file structure sorting.
It's not a difficult thing to understand. It is, in fact, a computing science +industry standard+, deviations from it are the +unusual and esoteric+, not something I'd expect from one of the industry's giants - certainly not a mandatory deviation.
It seems like it's a decision that only serves to frustrate people. I can understand why they would want a metadata sorting mode; I can even see making that the default setting... I'm just kind of flabberghasted at the uninclusion of an alternative file sorting method for those of us who trust our own devices better than metadata that may be incorrect, missing, typographically flawed, or what-have-you. I can get to my own music just fine... On my PC. Why not my iPod? Why does the industry-leading mp3 player have to make it a frustrating and difficult chore to find the media I want to play?

make sure you have the exact path written correctly. If you can, show what the filename is in itunes, and the filename when you are looking at the song files (i.e. through my comuter). Make sure these are the same, and that they are all usable itunes formats.

Firefox will not allow me to click on more than one link in a sequence. After one click, I am forced to switch to another active application before returning to Firefox and clicking on another link. I have seen this problem posted by others, but I can't find an answer by Mozilla. Since this problem makes Firefox virtually unusable (version 3.6.8) I would hope that Mozilla would offer an answer ASAP. Until then, I'm stuck with Explorer.

What app have you used to create your ibook? Normally any app will have a menu item like File > Export that will give you the option of PDF, or you can use Print and there will be an option in the Print dialogue to Print to PDF.

Wild guess: you're using the the wrong export settings. You'll need to tell us more before we can help you - like the export settings you're usng, the size and format of the originals etc.

shoo: if i had to do that for every file i get i would go insane, as scott said, post contract: files that they (sub contractor) supply you, presume them ok unless you KNOW otherwise, or a copyright flag pops up contradicting ownership.

Acrobat Standard cannot validate or conform PDF/A files, so you cannot directly convert a random PDF into a PDF/A file - but you can "print" to Distiller and create a file that should pass verification. You'll lose all your interactivity, bookmarks, tags, etc. so it's only an option for type B files.
