Transfer of photographs

Some of my photographs taken by my iPhone 6 have not synced with my iPad. Some do and some do not and I don't know why. Any ideas?

I'm having trouble with photos today too.  I think we've killed the cloud...

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

  • Data transfer PC - Mac

Hi everyone, my first post here.
I am awaiting delivery of my brand new iMac and need to transfer my photographic images across to the hard drive. My image files are a mixture of RAW and JPEG's. I had been told (Canon EOS forums) that the easiest way of doing this was to purchase an external hard drive, copy the data files to this then connect up to the Mac and hey presto my images ready to go.
I purchased a Lacie d2 Quadra 500 gb drive, arrived today. I now find that this is formatted to Mac and to use it on the PC it needs formatting, this seems to me at lot less simple than I was first told.
Can any of the experts within these forums point me in the right directions as formatting the drive to PC would indicate that this then becomes a problem for the Mac.
My new Mac arrives in about 10 days time so I have time to try and resolve this, OR was the inforamtion that I was given DUFF, if so is there a solution that I can use?
    Thanks in anticipation
    Peter

A Windows drive can be formatted as NTFS or FAT32.
A Mac external drive can be formatted HFS+ or FAT32.
A Mac can read, but not write, from a NTFS drive.
Your best bet is to format the drive as FAT32. Then transfer the images to the Mac and reformat the external drive as HFS+ or HFS+ journalled.
FAT32 drives have a limitation that they will only support files of 4GB-1 or smaller. This may be OK for photos, but will quickly become a constraint if you store videos. Also, FAT32 tends to get fragmented.
To format your drive, you can use the DISK UTILITY program on the Mac. You can find it in the Applications Folder/Utilities.
Or you can format it on the Windows machine.
Remember that whenever you format, any data on that drive is erased.

  • Yosemite 10.10.3 How do I transfer "photos" into Adobe Photoshop Elements?

You should contact Adobe Support and/or post in the Adobe Forums since it's their product having problems w/Photos app.

  • Why won't LR read my memory card properly and import the photographs which are clearly there on it?

I'm attempting to transfer my photographs from a large wedding shoot off of my Canon Mark 2 5D and onto Lightroom, the way I always do.  Today, after transfering one memory cards images without a glitch, there seems to be a problem reading images for my 2nd memory card's contents to be transfered to LightRoom.  Although the images come up as thumbnails initially, when I am starting the Import process, when I proceed, LR tells me "No Photos or videos were found to import."
I have restarted both camera and LR multiple times but it does this same thing every time.  Also, it says "Preparing to Import" at this stage of the game, but nothing ever happens.  How can I fix this issue?  Super important work, this needs to happen soon,
    Thank you.
    -Airyka

This sounds to me like a hardware problem.
It could be a bad card reader or USB cable, bad USB port, bad camera card, or maybe a bad hard disk on your computer.
If you have a different hardware way to hook up your camera card to your computer, I would give that a try.

  • Multiple file transfer

I´m trying to use both Skype and www.yousendit.com to transfer files (photographs) to clients. But neither allow me to choose more than one at a time. Speaking with people on PC they have no problem with this, suspecting this is a Mac issue. I have tried Apple+A, shift etc. but it doesn´t work. I have to open one at a time, which is not a good solution. Any suggestions?

  • The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?

I have recently switched from a PC to a MacBook Pro.
I have a large number of documents and photographs on a multiterrabite external drive, backed up on a second multiterrabite external drive.
Both external drives are formatted for MacIntosh. This has been verified by agents at an Apple store and also at Best Buy in two different cities.
    This is the problem:
The MacBook Pro will not allow me to cut-and-paste to and from or to click-and-drag to the external drive. I can copy-and-paste, but then I must send the original to the trash, which doubles the time and effort. Is there any way to cut-and-paste?
Also, the MacBook Pro will not allow me to rename multiple documents or photographs. I can click-and-rename a single one, but this is impossibly time consuming. I can batch-rename in iPhoto, but when I transfer the photographs to the external drive, the rename does not transfer.
I’m reduced to using my wife’s Toshiba to cut-and-past, rename, and transfer documents. It works perfectly. Is there any way to do this on the MacBook Pro?
    Thanks!

No, this is a philosophical difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple believes that it's dangerous to cut a file in case the user never pastes it; in that case the file is lost. Microsoft seems to not have this problem (if I remember Windows correctly) because they don't delete the originating file if it's cut but never pasted.
Even though Macs have a lot of keyboard shortcuts, philosophically Macs have traditionally been mouse-first. This applies to file copy operations. In your case, what a Mac user would do is open the source window, open the destination window (on your second drive), and then Command-drag the selected files from the source to destination window. This is because a normal drag would leave the originals behind, while adding the Command modifier key tells OS X that this is a Move, not a Copy, so don't leave the originals behind.
(In addition there are different rules for drag-copying within the same volume or between different volumes. If you drag between two folders on the same volume, the files are moved. If you drag between different volumes, the files are copied unless you hold down Command to delete the copies on the source volume.)

Two problems in this case. First, batch file renaming is not built into OS X unless you build something with Automator. However, there are many utilities that can do batch file renaming which you can find at macupdate.com or on the App Store. Since I work with media I often batch rename using one of the media managers I have lying around like Media Pro or Adobe Bridge (comes with Photoshop).
iPhoto is a database front end designed to shield the file system from the consumer and let them concentrate on creativity and sharing. As such it is often a poor choice for managing files directly. When you "transferred the photographs" chances are you moved the originals, not the ones iPhoto edited which are stored in a hidden folder.

There will not be a way to do it exactly like Windows. As described above, there are ways to do it "the Mac way." If it is possible to remove judgment on which way is "better" you might find the Mac way to be acceptable, but of course sometimes we simply prefer what we're used to.

  • What can one do with Bluetooth between MacBook Pro and iPhone?

    Hello,
I tried enabling Bluetooth on my MacBook Pro and iPhone, thinking I could file transfer some photographs. It seems not to work; after trying to "browse the device" it effectively 'times out' (as if it's a neverending 'loading' wait icon). I saw some other threads here, "I can't sync/connect my iPhone and iMac!" with various replies, like "you sync [Calendar agenda] via MobileMe, not via Bluetooth."
What does one do with Bluetooth? Can't I send files wirelessly from my phone to my laptop? If not, why not? If so, why is the connection wait interminable? I have enabled File Sharing and Bluetooth Sharing on my laptop, but see no direct means to do so in my phone's settings -- must this be done through iTunes? Do I need to configure something further before I can send files?
I have iPhone 3G Version 4.2.10 (last I checked -- still waiting to install an update) and Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.8).
    Thanks for your time!

This is not a feature of iphone.  Never has been.
Other than tethering for internet, where provided by the carrier, you cannot connect to a computer/device/phone and do anything.
Bluetooth is for handsfree telephone devices/headsets, stereo speakers/headsets, some keyboards, some peer to peer apps from the app store and tethering where provided by the carrier.

  • What to delete from drive c

Please, i need someone to advise me on what i can delete from my drive c on my nokia e7. The memory is almost full and i have the cache but still i see no much results. I downloaded x - plore and it shows me a lot of things on the memory.
My problem is that i don't know what to delete since i am afraid i may end up destroying my phone. Can someone please help me by telling me some of the things i can delete without destroying my phone?

    Some typical suggestions for clearing drive space are;
Uninstall applications, games, utilities  you do not use.
Transfer any photographs, video files and music files stored on the C drive to the memory card or a computer.
A large number of text messages and e-mails in your inbox can start to eat up space too. Clear them out.
If you can connect the phone to Nokia Suite and a computer. Nokia Suite has a function to clear space on the drive and it will not get rid of any important system files

  • Raw files on iphoto

hi folks! i have a nikon d80 and currently using iphoto '08 and wanted to use adobe ilustrator cs to edit my photos. i already set iphoto to transfer the photographs as raw but everytime i double click, for some magical reason iphoto converts my raw files to jpeg when it goes to illustrator. so i did my research and found out that i need adobe camera raw(ACR) plug in. i think my camera is not compatible with ACR so i downloaded Adobe DNG converter. now i think i'm in the right track here but now this is like playing chicken and egg.
now i wanted to convert my raw files from iphoto to DNG but there's no way i can access my iphoto pictures without iphoto converting my raw pix to jpeg. any suggestions? i really wanted ti use iphoto to organize my files. i do have some back up plans though. it's either i just use my super slow nikon software or buy adobe photoshop cs2(don't really have the money right now). please help! thanks!

Illustrator is not a photo or image editor. It won't work with things like the photo's Exif data and so on. Editing photos in Illustrator makes as much sense as writing your novel in a spreadsheet.
You don't have to go all the way to purchasing cs 2 (though CS 3 is more recent and will run better on 10.5), you can use Photoshop Elements which is really enough. About 85% of the capability for 15% of the price as someone on here mentioned once. And if you find a feature that you actually need that's not in Elements I would be very surprised indeed.
Other alternatives include Acorn, Graphic Coverter both of which are about the half the price of Elements. The GIMP and Seashore are Open Source, as in free.

  • Is my new iMac display a lemon?

I've had my new 27-inch iMac now for some three weeks, it being a customised one. One of the very first things I noticed about it following delivery was that its display was rather blurry. I've hitherto been used to using a high-quality 24-inch 1920 X 1200 res monitor in a self-built Windows system.
Now, my eyesight's certainly not as good as it used to be, so I began to wonder if this was just due to my eyes. On every recent visit to a friend's house I'd always remarked at the pin-sharpness and clarity of her three year-old 27-inch iMac running Snow Leopard. My friend paid a return visit today, to see and discuss our respective machines and one of the first things she noticed was the lack of sharpness on the display of mine. Could it be that there's something genuinely wrong with mine? Are displays on 27-inch iMacs set up for sharpness in the factory and therefore could it be that I've ended up with one that's poorly adjusted in that regard?
The irony is that I've come from a Windows machine in which I've been using a top-grade NEC monitor display, one which has its own sharpness control, among many other adjustments, and that monitor's display is ultra-crisp. There's of course no such hardware-based adjustment available to the iMac user.
Ironically, I'm a Photoshop user, trying to produce high-grade prints. I'd hoped to transfer my photographic work in due course to the Mac but clearly with the iMac's display being so blurry I'd never be able to judge my images for clarity or be able to add additional sharpness.
I've wondered whether this has been a case of 'the luck of the draw' as regards the graphics chip used on the iMac's motherboard. I've checked with my friend and she's got the ATI Radeon HD5670 chip in hers, whereas mine's the NVIDIA GeForce GT755M. For the sort of overall customisation I wanted, this 755M was unfortunately the only option available. Before buying the iMac I'd considered a Mac with a separate monitor instead but gave up the idea due to lack of space for it and the extra expense. Nonetheless, I would have expected the 755M, being a newer chip, to have been at least as good as the HD5670, if not better. But it seems not. Have I just got a lemon, or is there some hidden sharpness adjustment that I've not yet found? I discovered a setting for smoothing out text and experimented with that but it made no perceptible difference to the overall sharpness of anything onscreen. With the size of text in some windows/captions being fixed and some fonts that Apple's chosen to use being quite small (10pts and below), I'm now struggling to see text-based captions and dialog boxes clearly.
This isn't a case of a wrong screen resolution being chosen by me. I've definitely got the display set to its native resolution.
From the outset, the colour rendering (calibration) has been pretty poor too. Black level is truly bad too, and is especially noticeable on a customised Apple screensaver with supposed black background that I've chosen to use. My long experience with highgrade photoprocessing made me notice those colour aspects immediately.
Thus far I've been judging this just on general rendering, not on any test images or anything imported from the Windows machine, so I don't think I've been trying to compare apples with pears. I've played around a bit with the built-in calibrator on the iMac but it's about as bad the old Adobe Gamma calibrator that I stopped using in Photoshop/Photoshop Elements many years ago. That's not mattered too much, though, as I own a couple of X-Rite colorimeters and have intended to download and use the calibrator that X-Rite's written specifically for the Mac. That should bring the colour rendering onscreen spot-on - but of course that won't affect sharpness.
Incidentally, I'm for the present still on the initial release of Mavericks. I've yet to update to 10.9.2.
Has anyone else found the screen of their 27-in Mavericks iMac blurry? This is clearly not a case of bad personal choice, because the same model of iMac that belongs to a friend is definitely superior in this regard. The only difference we can point to is the graphics chip used.

    Yes.
