Transfer old blackberry device data to new BlackBerry 10 device, without old blackberry device

Hello,
I recently bought a new BlackBerry Q10, I had a BlackBerry Bold 9790 running on OS 7 before this and I had backed it up from BlackBerry Desktop Software. I had no knowledge that BlackBerry 10 devices don't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software, so I sold my Bold 9790 and then bought a Q10. I need to recover all the data of my old Bold 9790 to my Q10, but sadly Q10 doesn't work with BlackBerry Desktop Software. If I download BlackBerry Link it will ask me to connect my old device to transfer files.
So basically I need to transfer the backup file of my old phone to the new phone.
Please help me out. Thanks.

First, the device has been out for over a year and a half.  BlackBerry has put the information out there.  I easily found the information below with a quick Google search that brought up this article, KB33322
While it hasn't yet been updated to reflect the latest update to Link, I made a few minor changes to the instructions to get to the same options in the new version of Link.
Media Files saved on the device internal memory will be transferred if you check the box for "Media files saved on internal memory."  Media files saved under Content Store on the old device will not.
Here are the instructions:
Connect the BlackBerry 10 smartphone to the computer using the USB cable.
At the left side of the BlackBerry Link screen, click name of the BlackBerry 10 smartphone.
Select Restore Device > Legacy Device Backup Files.
Select the desired backup file.
Select the data to restore to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone. To restore all supported data, select the Restore all data check box.  To choose the data to restore select Custom Restore.
Note: For a description of the BlackBerry smartphone databases, refer to KB03974.
Click Restore.

I just got a new macbook. Is there any way I can transfer pictures or music to this new mac from my old one?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
There are different ways to transfer your data from another Mac, but as you just want to transfer pictures and music, the best way is to use an external drive. You can also connect them with a Thunderbolt or FireWire cable, but you need specific Macs to do it, so I prefer the external drive method.
You just have to get an external drive and plug it to the old Mac. Then, open Finder, navigate to the folders with your pictures and music, and drag them to the external drive in the Finder sidebar, under "Devices".
Then, connect the external drive to the new Mac and you will see the external drive in the Finder sidebar after opening a Finder window, so choose it. Then, just copy the pictures and music to the folder you want, for example, Music or Pictures

How can I transfer music from my old iphone 4 to the new iphone 5S without having the music on the old phone synced to my laptop (e.g. my itunes library on the laptop is empty) ?
I tried the "Transfer Purchases" option - however this only worked for apps - not sure if I'm missing some sort of setting.
I do not want to use iCloud as I do not have enough space for my music.
    Thanks!

You cannot. The music must be in the iTunes library first. See these User Tips:

  • Can you transfer pictures from an old ipod touch to a new ipod touch without having the old ipod touch or the photos in Iphoto?

I somewhat recently got a new ipod touch after my screen cracked and the people at an Apple store said it would be cheaper to buy a new device completely.  I followed everything they said about backing up my old device and when I went to pick up the new one, the store took the old one away.
Up until just a few days ago I did not realize Iphoto could hold pictures from your ipods.  Mine never did it automatically, nor did anything ever seem to have the option to do.  It just so happened that two days ago I was browsing the web when I noticed a website gave instructions on how to transfer photos.  So I tried it and it worked for my new ipod while all the new photos.
But I was wondering if I could somehow get the old photos back from Itunes or my computer somewhere and transfer them into Iphoto or my new device.  I was hoping that maybe if I could "back up" my old stuff onto my new ipod for a few moments it would show I have the old photos and I could transfer them into Iphoto and then restore the ipod touch back to what I have it currently.
If it helps, I'm pretty sure the old ipod touch I had was a 3gen as my new one I noticed was skinnier.  As I said, I do not have the old touch anymore but I have the data in Devices on my Itunes if that makes a difference.  Both my data for my old one and new one are in the Devices section of Itunes.
    Thanks,

How to restore from a backup
To restore information from a backup, use one of the following methods after connecting your iOS device to the computer with which you normally sync:

  • Download old iPod touch date into new iPod touch through iTunes

How do you download old iPod data into new a new iPod?

Simply connect the new iPod to the same computer that was used to sync the old iPod.  iTunes will know the difference and will assign a unique name (which you can change if you wish).

  • Sync iPad with new mac in without old mac

Have moved to another city than my home, left iMac at home (old without intel so no cloud) -- bought new iMac and want to sync my ipad now to the new mac NOT the old.  It wants to erase my ipad --- don't want to lose my aps.  How do I stop the sync with old mac and switch to new -- won't be back in old house til mid-Feb so want to sync now with new.  As iMacs are different version and in different cities I couldn't just write my files from one to another so transferred via external drive my music and photos.  Now want to ensure I can sync my iPad.  Advice on how I do this without losing all my aps?  Thx.

Read this discussion and see my posts (Demo) and King Penguin's posts. If you follow the instructions that we discussed you should be fine. There are ways to get all of iPad content into iTunes on the new Mac discussed in this thread.

Whatever does not apply - just ignore. The only change in terminology for a Mac running iTunes is iTunes>Preferences>Devices - not Edit>Preferences>Devices like on a PC.

  • Mesh data in old iPhone with data in new iPhone}

    Hello!
How might one mesh the data in an old iPhone with the data in a new iPhone?
I made the mistake of using my new iPhone for a while before transferring a backup from my old iPhone to my new iPhone. I was hoping to find a way to selectively transfer data to reduce the possibility of transfering gremlins that have built up in the old phone for the past three years. Now there's a bunch of important data on the new iPhone that will get deleted if I do the restore process with iTunes.
    Any suggestions are much appreciated.
    Thank you!

Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.
Copy everything else ( calendars/contacts/pics/files/docs) as well.

  • Iphoto transfer from timemachine macbookpro data to new macbook air?

    Hi Folks.
I have an external HD with Timemachine saved data from my 2011 Macbook Pro which I recently sold.  I now have the brand new Macbook Air 11.6 inches and, on opening Timemachine and searching my external hard drive I am unable to find my iphoto photos that were saved onto the timemachine external drive from my old macbookpro.  All my other documents from my macbook pro are available on the external drive, including all my photos that were not saved on iphoto.  However, all the iphoto pictures from the last 2 years, family pics, holidays photos etc etc seem to have completely vanished!  What has happened??How do I find them and install them onto my new macbook air??  Very puzzled and highly traumatised!

Here is the route I did:  Finder > time machine backups > My Macbook Pro folder > Chose a folder from a date from when I had the macbook pro and photos should be there > macintosh HD for that date > Users > My name folder > Pictures > iphoto Library icon >
    This this message appears:
"The iPhoto library is a Time Machine backup, and so cannot be used as the main library. Reopen iPhoto with the Option key held down to choose another library".
Correct.  When you click the iPhoto Library via the Finder, it tries to open it with the iPhoto app.  But you cannot open backups with an app.  You must Resrore that iPhoto Library somewhere to use it.
Which I do.  Which then gives me one library option - iphoto.  When I click to open, iphoto does open, but only with the new macbook air uploaded photos.  My 2 years of photos of my macbook pro iphoto do not appear.
Also correct. It's opening the one you chose, not the one in the backups (you can't choose that one).
Really confusing for me.  How can I open a file from March 2013 and have only August 2013 pictures in there from my new computer.
Again, you must restore the backup copy somewhere, then open the restored copy.
Try this:  Point the Finder to your computer (open a Finder window and either select your computer in the sidebar or press Shift+Cmd+C).    Then Enter Time Machine.  Do not select anything in the Finder window yet, but select a backup in the TimeLine that was made on the MBP.  That should not be grayed out, and you should be abel to select it.
Then navigate to your home folder (inside the /Users folder) and the iPhoto library.  Do not click the usual Restore button at the lower right.  Instead, select the iPhoto Library, control-click, choose the Restore iPhoto Library to... option, and choose an alternate location, such as your Desktop (not the location of your existing MBA iPhoto Library).
That will restore the MBP's iPhoto Library to your Desktop, and you should be able to open it with the iPhoto app (by starting iPhoto with the Alt/Option key as above).

  • HT201272 How do I transfer castleville from Ipad3 to a new Ipad air without loosing all purchased items and data on game

    how do I

Oh no, I've tried to backup my iPod on my old computer before and it won't let me - the bar just stays in one place and doesn't move!
I have found this hidden file called Application Data (C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data). I have a feeling this is where my backup files are stored... I did manage to make a backup when I didn't have many apps, but that was over a year ago...
If I copy these files onto the new computer in the same place, maybe it would let me do a backup without wiping everything.....?!
(Note: the location might end up being slightly diffrent, because I have a Windows XP now and we're getting a Windows 7. But if I copy all the files in this folder, maybe the ipod won't recognise that it is a different itunes library?)

Your account is just  a user name and password.
It sounds like you want to move your itunes library.
The Apple Store will do this for you.
or you can call Apple Support and they will help.
or type "move itunes library from pc to mac" into the google search bar.

  • Help! Problem with old phone's data to new phone.

My 4S got stolen, so I got a new one.
I initally selected the "start new iPhone" option, it copied all the apps, but no previous messages. When I realized that, I restored the new phone and then selected to restore the back up from the old phone. Now, the messages are up but I have no apps.
And I don't see the usual iPhone iTunes startup where you should see the tabs. It still shows the "Set Up Your iPhone" option.
What am I doing wrong and what should I do?

Did you use Apple's migration tool?  It misses a lot of support files, especially in the Application Support directories.
You'll have to copy those files manually, or reinstall the app.
