Transfer PE6 to iMac

I have used PE6 for 5 years or so on a Windows PC.  How do I transfer it to my new iMac OS X?  (Adobe Chat operator did not seem to know and recommended I ask the Forum).

But... the system requirement for PE6 state:  ?????
Mac OS
PowerPC G4 or G5 or multicore Intel processor
Mac OS X v10.4.8 through 10.5.2
512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended)
64 MB of video RAM
1 GB of available hard-disk space (additional free space required during installation)
1024 x 768 display resolution
DVD-ROM drive
QuickTime 7 software required for multimedia features
Internet connection required for Internet-based services
Now runs natively on PowerPC or Intel-based Macintoshes.
Experience native performance on Intel and PowerPC-based Macintosh computers.

Tried how? Using what? Step-by-step details and the results you get along way should elicit a cogent response.

Make sure your iMac is on 10.6.8 or higher and your iTunes is up to date.  If it is, then restart your computer, open iTunes, then plug in your device.  If it still is not showing up, follow the steps listed here: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

How do I transfer songs from imac to iPhone?

You can connect your iPhone to your computer.  Once your phone is connected via the USB cable to the computer, iTunes should launch.  If it doesn't, you can launch iTunes manually.
In iTunes, you should see your iPhone button appear at the top right next to the iTunes Store button (this is for iTunes 11).  Click on that button and you can choose how or what songs you want to sync over to iTunes.

Connect the iPhone to your Mac with its USB cable and launch iPhoto.  In iPhoto you can select which files to upload into the library.  Once in the library export them out of iPhoto to a folder on the Desktop via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export  with Kind=Original. That will give you copies of the videos in the folder for use outside of iPhoto.
If you want to bypass importing into iPhoto try launching Image Capture and manually upload the selected video files to the folder of your choice.

  • Transfer photos from iMac to iPad

Hi Guys - can someone tell me an easier way to transfer photos from iMac to iPad.
Perhaps I've misunderstood, but this is the process I currently go through
create folder called "iPad photos" on desktop
create event called "iPad transfer" on iphoto
copy and paste items from iPhoto to desktop folder
when complete, drag photos from desktop to iphoto
then move the resultant "untitled event" to merge with "iPad transfer"
sync iPad with ONLY "iPad transfer"
This works. However, I've then got exactly TWICE the number of digital photos in iPhoto !
I have the originals, and then the duplicates imported BACK into the iPad transfer folder - so obviously I'm using up valuable memory.
Can someone suggest a simpler more efficient way ?
    Many thanks.

I'm guessing that you are going through all of those steps because you have photos in a number of different events that you want to copy to the iPad and that those events also include photos that you don't want to go to the iPad?
    Two options to consider:
    1) Create an Event for photos that you want to move to the iPad and move all of the photos from where they currently are into that Event. This has the advantage of grouping all of the photos into one Event but the disadvantage that they are no longer in the Event where you may have wanted them for other reasons.
    2) What I do. Use the iPhoto "Album" feature. A photo inside iPhoto can be in one Event and in one or more Albums without occupying any more space. Create an Album (iPhoto File menu New Album) and name it something like "iPad Photos". If you desire you can create additional Albums and drag them onto the main Album to create sub-albums one level deep for better organization. Then simply drag photos from Events to the desired Album and they will be in both places. Then when you sync, select the Album (e.g. "iPad Photos") to sync.

  • How to transfer files from iMac to iPad 2

What's the best way to transfer files from iMac to iPad, like a Keynote presentation?

It's probably not as "simple" as using DropBox, but it's there. When in the Apps section of iTunes, just scroll down to the bottom where there is a listing of installed apps that can use the iTunes data exchange. Documents available on the computer can be synced TO the device while those available on the device can be syned TO the computer.

  • Problems with Photoshop performance and data transfer speed on iMac

Two months ago, I started noticing slow performances using Photoshop (above all using clone stamp tool) on my 27" iMac (late 2012). I did the AHT and I found that 8GB of 32GB RAM were broken.
I removed them but the problem didn't disappered, I also noticed that data transfer speed (both copy and paste from/to internal HD and from CF card/external HD) was really slow.
I tried many solutions suggested by Apple support, none of them worked out. At the end, I tried uninstalling and re-installing Photoshop: no more problems!!!
10 days ago, I received a new 8GB RAM module and so I installed it back... suddenly, the problem came back, I tried re-installing again Photoshop but the problem, this time, still persist!
Does anyone had the same experience? All other CC programs work well (LR, AE, Premiere...)

    yes, it does!
what seems to be very strange to me is how data trasnfer speed could be affected!
(just to say, I've already tried reset of SMC and PRAM, I've tried with different accounts and I've also re-installed the OS, next step would be formatting the disk and installing the OS from zero)

  • Unable to transfer backup to iMac after hard drive replacement

After upgrading to Mavericks, my iMac ran slow and crashed. Hard drive failed diagnostic testing so it was replaced. Now when I try to transfer backup information it reads "No volumes found in backup". I've seen a couple possible solutions out there, but needed to make sure I'm not erasing data off the Time Capsule. Help!

  • How to transfer files from imac g4 to new imac i3

I'm going to pick up a new imac today. How do I transfer my files from my imac g4 running 10.2.8? I never upgraded from the original OS.
    I'll buy a FireWire 9pin/6pin cable too.
I only want to transfer files and preferences: photos, iTunes library, .doc's, .xls's, .ppt's, .jpg, .bmp, .gif, .tiff and my bookmarks.
    No applications.

Bummer. I'm not sure why this is happening. I don't think it has anything to do with the Firewire port you chose.
Two possible ways now to proceed: First is to skip Setup Assistant altogether. (And, I'm not even sure you will be presented with Setup Assistant again as an option, since it already appeared once.) Go through the entire setup procedure on the new Mac, including creating a new user (but it must have a name different from the G4 user; you will eventually delete this new user.)
Then, when the new Mac is up and running, connect the G4 again in FWTDM, wait until, hopefully, the G4 Volume appears on the Desktop of the new Mac, then open up Migration Assistant in Applications>Utilities and proceed with the transfer.
The other possibility -- and this depends on getting Setup Assistant again -- is to use the Flash drive, if it is big enough.  It will need to be formatted by Disk Utility. The formatting will be Mac OS Extended Journaled and the partition scheme (one partition) will be APM, Apple Partition Map. You will have to clone everything to the Flash drive (you could use Disk Utility Restore for this purpose, or Carbon Copy Cloner. You would connect the flash drive by Firewire (not target disk mode) and proceed with making your selections in Setup Assistant. (I have the feeling the first method will be simpler, though not as painless as I predicted earlier.)
    From Pondini
If you have any user accounts on the new Mac with the same name as any you want from the old ones, there's a conflict.  If you don't need any of the new account's data, create a temporary Admin user account, with a name different from any on your backups,  then log on with it and delete the conflicting account(s).  Then use Migration Assistant to transfer what you want and delete the temporary account.  If you do need some data from the new account, copy it elsewhere temporarily, then delete the new account via System Preferences > Accounts.  Alternatively, you can migrate the account, but rename it via Migration Assistant, then copy things from the other account.
Pretty much everything you need to know to go this route is explained in the pondini articles.
BTW, you really should have a backup, preferably a bootable clone on an external drive. Drives can die, or encounter problems at any time.
    I hope this now works!

  • Can't transfer files from imac to intel imac via ethernet sockets

I recently bought the fab new imac intel and wanted to transfer files from my old imac 350 via the ethernet sockets as the old imac doesn't have firewire. I did this using instructions from an apple doc. which allowed me to simply drag files from the hard disk icon of my old imac, to the hard disk icon of the imac intel.
I now want to transfer some more files but the set-up just doesn't work. When I try to connect to the old imac the afp tries to find the IP but doesn't connect. Sometimes I get a message saying, 'the files you want are on this server' meaning the new intel imac, but of course they are not. I've tried all kinds of things but can't find the problem.
    Geoff

If the ip addresses are beginning with 169 that means they are self assigned ip addresses.
I suggest you goto each mac and create a new network location.
Then setup one mac as follows
    systempreferences-->network-->show built-in ethernet-->TCP/IP
    configure ipv4 manually
    ip address 10.0.0.1
    subnet 255.255.255.0
on the other mac do the same but make the ip address
    10.0.0.2
    press apply now.
Now when you connect to server use the ip address 10.0.0.1 or 10.0.0.2 respectively.
