Transfer phone purchase to computer?
I've tried home sharing on the new iTunes with my computer and phone (both turned on and logged into correct account), I've tried finding the file from my phone itself, and many other things, and I still can't get these 2 song purchases transfered from my iPhone to my computer.. The iTunes account on my phone recognizes that I purchased it, but it doesn't recognize it at all on my computer (logged into same iTunes account on both devices)
Homesharing has absolutely nothing to do with transferring content.
There are two ways to get the content purchased on the device to the computer.
With the device connected to the computer, right click on it in iTunes and select "Transfer Purchases".
In iTunes, select Store > Check for Available Downloads.

Cannot transfer iPad purchases to computer
I purchased a song on the iTunes Store via my iPad 2 last night, and the song won't transfer to my iMac when I sync the iPad to the Mac. I activated both of my iTunes accounts, but, still, the song won't transfer. How can I back it up on my Mac?
If the apps are not in your iTunes library yet - and they are not - hence this problem - then it may not be a good idea to restore. You can restore but may have to download the apps again. You can read this article about what iTunes stores in the backup.
All of your app data is saved in the backup but not the apps themselves. Anytime you restore from a backup you want to make sure that all of your content has been transferred to iTunes so that you can SYNC that content again after you restore the data from the backup.
At least that has always been my understanding. I did restore from a backup once myself a few months ago because I was having issues with an Exchange email account. I deleted the account from my iPad and had no success reloading it onto the device. I backup/transfer purchases/sync with iTunes virtually every night so I restored from my backup of the previous evening. All went smoothly but I did sync the content again as well.
Here is the article about backups.

trying to update iPhone operating system on our Mac. I think iPhone is on 4.2 or so. Verizon store mgr tried and said he could not do it on his limited computer. He said to update using iTunes at home. I keep getting an error msg box. The update cannot be completed. At beginning of process, we get a box that instructs us to transfer iTunes purchases to computer before doing the update. Not sure how to transfer. Any guidance?

How can I transfer all my downloaded music from my I phone to my computer, even music that is not purchased but is from CDs
There's some third party applications available for recovering content off an iPod, iPhone or iPad. The following article is pretty old (2008) so it would be best to reality-check the capabilities and availability of the various listed items prior to opting for a particular product:

When trying to transfer my purchases on my phone to my computer, I went to file>devices>transfer purchases, and said I have done so. But if I try to update my iphone a box pops up and says I should still transfer my purchased items first. But I already have, am I doing something wrong?
No, just a reminder that you should do so beforehand, which you have already done.

ITunes will not transfer my purchases from phone to computer?
I had to restore my computer just to get itunes working on my new computer, and while i did this, I lost over 300 songs that i had purchased from itunes. Some songs were from my moms account, and some were from mine. but it says only 300 and something songs were on her account and i KNOW for a **** fact that i had 1252 songs on her account for me alone. And when i go to transfer purchases from my phone to my computer it will not transfer. Please fix this or else i will never use itunes again and i will bash this companys name. Never in my life have i had such a **** experiance with this company. you should be ashamed of all of these problems. I cant uninstall itunes unless i want to restore my computer again. so DO NOT offer me that suggestion because i WILL NOT restore this computer a 6th time because of your screw ups
We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
You should be able to copy them back onto your computer from your backup of your library that you've been keeping. Both accounts are authorised on your computer's iTunes and the music was purchased from iTunes, and File > Devices > Transfer Purchases doesn't copy them ? That won't copy music bought from other sources and/or copied from CDs.
Depending upon what country that you are in and if they are still in your country's store, then you might be able to redownload your purchases on your computer via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the store home page on your computer's iTunes, though redownloading an account's purchases may tie the computer to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 -
I am trying to sync my iphone 4s to my windowns Itunes account. When i try to do it, the sync wants to remove all of the content on my phone and replace it with what is on my laptop, which has nothing yet. I am trying to move all of my purchased and uploaded content from my phone to the computer, but don't see the setting to do that.
Have you tried contactint the app's developer?

Restore that backup you made?
You should be able to recover the media with the tips in this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into a newly authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup. That might switch the assocation of the device to the new machine but I couldn't say for sure.

I have an iPhone 4. I would like to transfer music from my HP computer to the phone. The music appears on my iTunes page on the computer but I cannot figure out how to transfer it to the phone. I'd also like to transfer the phone numbers on my phone to my computer (so I can keep them on my backup drive in case something happens to the phone). When I connect the computer and the phone, it says it's 'syncing' but I certainly can't figure out what's being 'synced'. The only thing I've ever been able to transfer at all are photos from the phone to the computer. If I must upgrade my phone system to 6.1 to do thi, I am reluctant to try that because it says I must save things or they will be lost (e.g. music I've purchased, phone directory, etc) - which I have no clue how to do. My nearest Apple store can only be reached by plane (in Honolulu). Thanks for any help.

Also you said " I want to add them to my iCloud, and also back to my computer. " Note that unless subscribe to iTunes match, only iTunes purchases are stored in iCloud.
Also,
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -
I am trying to synch my iPhone with my computer, and new Apple ID. My iPhone is synced with another computer, but i have changed the Apple ID on my phone and authorized it on my computer. However, i can not transfer my purchases on to my new account. I have updated my phone, authorized the account on both my phone and my computer. And i do not wish to wipe my phone clean, because there is but one song on this new account. How do i transfer the music on my new account?
All content bought/downloaded from iTunes is tied to the account that downloaded it and it can't be transferred to a different account - so you will need to authorise your old account on that computer if you want to transfer its purchases over.

I have an iphone 4s and recently purchased a 5 for my wife. When I plug her phone into our computer I'm asked if I want to set up as a new phone or back up. I'm not sure what to do her phone is already set up with an icloud account. Can I sync her phone with the player that I have installed and transfer content to her phone or will my phone be removed from the player?
Set up as new, since it newer has been connected to iTunes. Your iPhone will remain on iTunes. I have 4 different devices on my iTunes with no problems.
And regarding the sync - it will sync whatever you tell it to sync on iTunes. -
Recently i had to get a new computer. I was able to get itunes on the new computer and itunes did reconize my phone. BUT, it doesnt want to transfer the music from my phone to the computer? Can someone help, Please??
ThanksFile>Transfer Purchases in iTunes will transfer items purchased from the iTunes store.
If you have items from other sources (ripped CD's, etc.) on the phone, you can't transfer those without purchasing 3rd party software.
Restore the backup of your old computer or just copy the data from the old computer to the new one. -
I just purchased a new computer with Windows 8. I currently have an IPhone4. I guess the only other additional details are that I don't have an adapter for my phone into my computer and that the music I wish to transfer into my phone wasn't purchased from iTunes. Any assisstance would be greatly appreciated! I'm at my wits end over here. I've been fidgeting with apple, iCloud, and even Bluetooth settings for about 6 hours now. I need help!
Only iTunes purchases can be transferred from an iDevice to iTunes on the computer.
