Transfer ports definitions between SAP systems

I would like to know if there is a way to transfer ports definitions (WE21) between SAP systems ?

There is no program to copy ports into another system. You could write an ABAP program and an RFC FM to read EDIPOA and EDIPORT tables from other client and insert them into the current system tables, but it is not suggested to do that because the RFC destinations should exist and no company wants to do direct update on SAP delivered tables because SAP will not support in case of errors.
Thats why as far as my experience, I've always created them manually.

Can I suggest a slightly more robust approach? What Andreas is suggesting, is that in fact you should be able to transfer the customising data by doing a standard transport. You can create a transport in your 4.5B system and then it can be physically copied (at the operating system level, for example FTP) to your 4.7 system and then imported.
I think that this is probably the right way to go, but you may have some troubles if the PS system has some changes in 4.7 (as the destination config tables may have different structures to the source tables).
The change I suggest from Andreas is start by using the IMG to generate the transport. If you go to every area of customising that you wish to transfer to the 4.7 system and make a change (save to a change request) then change it back and save, you will make sure that you have every table required to be transferred in your change request. You can then edit the change request (in SE09) and change the keys (by putting an *, rather than the specific data) to ensure you get all the data.
I just feel that given the complexity of configuration tables (and the sheer number of them) it would flow smoother if generated the initial list via the IMG, rather than trying to figure them all out yourself.
After the change request has all the correct entries you will need to release it (to ensure that the object in Unix has all the data from the SAP system). You can then FTP it to the 4.7 system and do an import of the change request (and cross your fingers that you don't get import errors due to config tables changing in 4.7).

Master data synchronization between SAP systems

Dear all,
I have 2 SAP systems and I'm required to synchronize some kinds of HR master data between these 2 systems, how can i achieve that without any ABAP developments?

Hi Bean,
You can achieve this using IDoc and PI using following scenario.
1) Populate IDoc in 1st SAP system and pass it to the second system as direct IDoc to IDoc transfer.
Ex: Basic Idoc Type: HRMD_A07
2) If direct communication between two XI system is not allowed then you can use PI as middle ware to transfer data.
But for IDoc you need to create partner profile and ports etc.

SAP (ECC) extractor to transfer data into Non SAP System

Hi Experts,
Scenario : We had a requirement to decommission the existing SAP BW system and merge it into Non SAP BI system (say MSBI).
Existing BW system getting data from standard extractor and populating till cubes.
Now If this SAP BW system will be decommissioned and all the data needs to be moved to new Non SAP System BI.
What will be the approached for this smooth transfer.
Will SAP (ECC) std extractor will be used to move the data into non SAP BI system ? How ?
Any documentation and experience will be helpful.

Hi VB,
First you need to identify that your MSBI system support BCI(business content integration) method. For example Informatica support BCI and provide RFC plugins to integrate with SAP. If your MSBI support BCI method then you can use standard dataextractors to extract data in new BI system. You will also need to plan the reporting model and how the extracted data will be feeded in your BI datamodel/reporting side. You may use some transformation reference from your existing SAP BI system.

Transfer XML to Non-SAP System

We have a requirement to transfer data to a Non-SAP system using HTTPS. As of now we are looking for a possibility of transfer it as XML over HTTPS protocol. Can anyone please share their experience. Mainly the pre-requisites & architecture for the total setup. Our SAP version is ECC5.0. Also if anyone have a detailed document on this will be of great help.

Thanks for those links. But both the links speaks about the configuration in a XI system. Which may be helpful, when we will think of implementing it. My basic need is the architecture. What all pre-requisites we need to have for transferring data to a non-SAP system i.e. will only SAP XI will help or we need to have a adapter as well to transfer the data to the non-SAP system. Please note also the non-SAP system is running on AIX.

there is no other solution , only report RHSOBJCH can be used
Report RHSOBJCH adjusts the transport objects PDST, PDST_LSO,..., that
are used to transport personnel planning objects. The transport objects
need to be adjusted, whenever a new infotype is delivered by SAP or
created in the customer system. We can't deliver the adjustment, because
the transport object contains both the SAP infotypes as well as the
customer infotypes.
Therefore you should select all entries in report RHSOBJCH and add them
to the transport object. This needs to be done after each upgrade and
after the creation of a customer infotype.
You should run the report both in source and target system BEFORE
transporting the appraisal templates.
When transporting PD objects to your productive environment
you should pay attention whether objects are involved in the transport,
which already exist in the productive system.
This is described under 5.a) in note 138411,

If you want to do an IDOC to IDOC scenario, then the Points to be noted are:
1. You dont need a DT, MT or a message interface for the IDOC as it itself acts as the Message Interface.
2. You import the IDOC and use the same in your mapping.
3. You do not need a sender IDOC adapter, and no sender agreement, but a receiver IDOC adapter and a receiver agreement is needed.

File Transfer from non-SAP System.

or can we also use SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE?

Thanks. I'm looking at the FTP_COMMAND FM. If I got it right the 'command' parameter here should be the OS level commands? Example would be cp <file path from source> <file folder of destination> for unix. ?

Distributing customizing(control) data from SAP ECC to a non SAP System

Dear Experts,
I am currently working on an interface for distribution of different data to a non SAP System. One of these is customizing data (Company code, purchasing org. plant etc). The system expects a file and we shall implemet the following scenario: IDOC>XI>File
Questions:
1. Is it possible to use CONDAT Idoc to transfer customizing data to a non SAP System or is this only used for synchronisation of data between SAP Systems?
2.In case CONDAT cannot be used would you recommend creating a custom table, message type etc. for this case?

As far as data transfer, If have all normal configuration settings in your targeted system you can use LSMW (Use T.code AS91 in LSMW for recording) to transfer your data in your both cases.

I want to know how to send the reports and smartform through xi to another system. All the post blogs are just explaning only about the FILE-TO-FILE, FILE-TO-IDOCS scenarios only.

XI is the middleware that to be used to transfer the data between various systems and even you could design the Business Processes with it.
In R/3 the smartforms, are generally converted to PDF and then have to send it across to Non SAP systems. Similarly you can convert the smartforms to pdf format and keep it on application server. XI will pick up that pdf and will send it to Non SAP system either as mail or as an attachments.
ABAP reports are normally used to re-present the data. If you need to transfer this data across the Non SAP systems then you have the IDOCs to be generated, RFC or ABAP Proxy to integrate this data with Non SAP system.
XI is not restricted only upto file to file or file to IDOC scenarios. It have enormous capabilities to involve various Business Processes as well integrate various SAP or Non SAP systems.
