Transfer purchases before update message won't stop!

I want to update my phone to the 4.3 iOS, however when I click "update" I get a message saying that there are purchases on my phone that are not in my library and I should transfer them before updating. I have transfered no less than five times, both by going file, transfer purchases, and by right clicking on my phone and clicking transfer purchases, but the same message keeps coming up. I notice when I click on the apps tab of my phone not all of the apps from my phone are there and I am guessing that is the problem. How do I fix this?

All of my apps are in my iTunes library (minus the ones that come with the phone - game center, maps, youtube etc.), all of my purchased songs from the iTunes app, all of my purchased ringtones, and my podcasts are all in my iTunes library on my computer, however everytime I click "update" I am STILL getting the message saying there are purchases that have not been transferred, and are you sure you want to continue? I don't understand what it could be. All apps, songs etc. were purchased under the same account on the same phone. My computer is authorized.

firefox on mac is constantly opening new tabs that tell me to update but i already did. i uninstalled and re-installed but that did not help. any thoughts?

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 32.0: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded

Just to clarify -  When I follow the instructions to "transfer purchases from iphone to computer" prior to updating my iphone the options suggested are greyed out. The Transfer Purchases option under Devices in the File menu is greyed out. Can anyone explain why its greyed out and how I can make the option available?

  • "Cannot Open iTunes" messages won't stop!

I have iTunes open in my Wife's account. I am working in my account on the same PC (Windows 7), but I am NOT trying to use iTunes. However, the dialog box keeps popping up giving me a warning that iTunes cannot be opened.
I tried turning off the iTunes helper service but that didn't stop the warnings.
Any ideas? I searched and couldn't find anyone with this problem that had found a solution.

Then it's something specific to your PC that I don't know about.
If you're PC-savvy, you could troubleshoot using SysInternal's Process Monitor. It's not for the faint of heart and will take several hours to sort out.
There is always the workaround of going into your wife's account and closing itunes. iTunes doesn't support fast user switching on windows, and that's why you're seeing that message.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1969
The difficulty here is finding out what is trying to start itunes on your account. Usually it is a plug-in, like an instant messenger "what's playing now" that causes it. But you have no plug-ins listed. And presumably, no ipod connected to the PC with itunes set to open when an ipod is connected.
So like I said, the only way I know of finding it is with Process Monitor.

  • DictationIM warning message WON'T STOP

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.8.3 and it is stuck in a loop of showing me the following message -
You do not have permission to use the application "DictationIM"
Okay, let's ignore the fact for the moment, that I have NOT tried to use the application Dictation IM and could care less if it never existed, I don't want it and don't need it.
If I press the "OK" button on the message it goes away for a millasecond and then pops back up. If I move the message it pops back center screen. The Macbook refuses to allow me to do anything else with that message on screen.
I have restarted the finder, and the entire computer. The message does not seem to come up on the administrators log-in but it does on my kid's log-in.
I have gone into preferences and made sure dictation was turned OFF.
I have gone to disk utilities and repaired all permisions.
Please tell me how to stop this. Can I simply throw this app out? I DO NOT WANT IT!
    Thanks.

    Here is a ridiculous work-a-round.
Went to an administrator account, opened parental controls for the kid's account, ALLOWED dictation.
Sign out of administrator account and back into the kid's account.
Go to preferences, open Dictation preferences. Turn Dictation ON and then back OFF. Go to the setting for key activation for this app. Turn key stroke activation OFF.
The message now only comes back when I try to open parental preferences in the kids account.
Sign out of kid's account and back into admin account.
Go back into parental preferences and disable Dictation.
Now the kid's can log back into their account and actually use the computer.
This sounds like maybe a virus???

  • Why is Firefox spamming me? I open it and it tries to update, fails, as soon as I close it, it starts an update, it won't stop and I can't use Firefox, which makes me sad because I love my Firefox :(

Firefox opens in a window that says please wait a few minutes while updating and than it opens directly to a new window that says... "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Firefox running on your computer and than restart Firefox to start again. I exit out and it repeats, and repeats, and repeats etc. I don't even have to open Firefox for it to do this... I can't get onto Firefox and I'm really frustrated. Please Help!~

  • Mail won't stop checking some accounts

Anyone have this happen before? Mail won't stop checking a couple accounts I have. They are accounts we use every single day, run off our own server. They will check fine on other macs, but not this iMac starting a few hours ago. I have rebuilt the boxes, deleted all mail from the servers and updated to 10.5.4 just in case. Still the same thing.
I have to force quit, then once restarted it will grab new e-mails before it craps out and just sits there spinning on accounts again.
    Ideas? Thx.

I'm experiencing the same issue with one of my POP accounts as well.
I've tried the "Rebuild" command in the Mailbox menu as well as rebuilding the Apple Mail Envelope Index, but it's still attempting to sync.
Has anyone found a resolution to this issue?

I think I have transferred all purchased items but I keep getting the same message and I am afraid that i will lose all my purchases when i update it if I choose to continue.

With the device connected, select File > Transfer purchases.
If there is content from multiple Apple IDs on the device, each Apple ID must be authorized on the computer.

okay I've done everything regarding the transfer process (via file>transfer purchases) and syncing, so everything on my iPhone device seems to have been transferred to my iMac... however, I still get that message ("There are purchased items on the iPhone..."), trying to upgrade the iOS Have tried several times the same process of hitting transfer purchases via file, but nothing seems to make that message go away! Would have been nice to know which files I actually do need to transfer, which I don't get any info on of course...
Starting to get really annoying this thing.. Any smart suggestions what's going on?

  • There are purchased items on the iPhone "asingh's iPhone" that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone. Are you sure you want to continue?

When I am trying to upgrade my iphone to IOS7.0.2 by connecting my my iphone and macbook, it shows "There are purchased items on the iPhone “asingh’s iPhone” that have not been transferred to your iTunes library. You should transfer these items to your iTunes library before updating this iPhone. Are you sure you want to continue? ".  I hit the same issue and lost a lot of apps from my iphone. Can someone help on how to resolve this issue? I can automatically upgrade my software on the iphone but how shall I resolve any future updates of "Apps"?

I appreciate the answer, but what you describe is not entirely accurate.  First, to even see view, you have to enable the menu by clicking on the icon in the upper left.  View allows you to show the sidebar.
Second, you will NOT see your devise listed in sidebar or anywhere else.  Instead, you have to click on "devise" from the sidebar menu, wait a minute, and then it will finally show up under "devise."   Or maybe it just takes a minute to show up whatever you do.
Third, right clicking on your devise will take you to a menu with "transfer my files" on it, but then iTunes will refuse to make the transfer.  Instead, it will tell you that <your apps> on your <devise> could not be transferred to iTunes "because you are not authorized for it on your computer."  Apple unhelpfully suggests going to store> authorize this computer.  There is a "store" menu item on the sidebar, but it has no "authorize this computer" sub-menu.  Instead, go to the horizontal menu at the upper left, and THERE you will find "store" and the "authorize this computer" sub-menu.  Now you can transfer your files, to who knows where.
My iPhone 5 is my first Apple devise. So far my experience has been, to do A, which must be done right now, you must first do B.  To do B you must first do C, which is unexplained save in answers in user forums.  To do C you must first do D, which, after several hours of research and puzzle solving, can eventually be done.

  • How can I completely delete an app, so it won't even be listed in the app store under purchased items? And I will stop being prompted to make updates even though I've removed it from my iPad?

How can I completely delete an app, so it won't even be listed in the app store under purchased items? And I will stop being prompted to make updates even though I've removed it from my iPad?

Once an app is deleted from an iOs device, you will no longer be prompted for updates. Update alerts only occur for apps curently installed.
Purchases can be hidden (but not completely deleted) from the purchased list, but only using itunes on a computer.

  • Before updating IOS, I am cautioned to "Transfer items I have purchased"  ????

    I get an update alert.
But,  before updating the IOS,  I am cautioned to "Transfer items I have purchased"
I choose not to update, because I don't know what I have purchased, maybe an app or 2 (free apps too ?)
    or
how to do the transfer ?
HELP  DID  NOT  RECOGNIZE  the phrase   "before updating"  or  "transfer items"

You should be using your computer to regularly backup your purchases and other stuff from your phone. This is done, as wjosten suggests by running iTunes on your computer, connecting your phone and selecting transfer purchases. You can also copy over photos taken with your phone to your computer using an image captured program.
