Transfer recorded tv to N95

Hi,
I've been having some problems transcoding recorded tv ( files recorded using media center in .dvr-ms ) to watch my N95, even after reading these discussions and downloading 'Super'.
Super works fine for encoding mpegs and avi's etc. but I can't get it to work for .dvr-ms files. I'm trying to convert to MP4 ( with output video codec H264/AVC and output audio codec AAC ) using 320x240 screen resolution. The outputted file doesn't contain any audio even when I play it on the PC using Nokia Multimedia player.
I also tried to convert to a 3gp file without success.
Super's page doesn't claim to support .dvr-ms so maybe that is the problem ? Has anyone had any success with transcoding recorded TV and playing it on N95. Is Super the right pakcage to use or are there any other applications out there that will do this job for me ?

I too am having trouble with converting DVr-ms files so that I can play them on the N95. So far very frustrating as it seems there are very little software that supports this format.
I have to say that I have posted a few questions on this forum and the help has been excellent but I have just not managed to get it to work so wanted to share my experiences.
The nokia suite doesn't work as you cannot add such a file to the playlist. I have downloaded SUPER which does allow you to transfer a DVR-ms file to the conversion section but I have yet to find a combination of options that gives the desired effect.
I have managed to convert the file to a 3gp the quality is poor but the file is small.
I have also managed to convert to MP4 but using the H.263 video codec (? think that is what it is called) but not the H.264 one as this produces a file with sound but no picture.
HOWEVER, in both these cases the sound and picture either start out of sync and get worse or and in sync at the start and then after about 30mins about 1-2 secs out. If tried changing the settings but without any luck as the same problem is there to a greater or lesser extent.
I also downloaded PSPVideo9 but couldn't get it to work with the DVR-MS format.
I do not understand how the conversion works to know if there is a problem with the DVR-MS format but wanted to share my experiences.
We cannot be alone in trying to copy dr-ms files to the N95 and it would be great to find a piece of software that did it! I am tempted to try downloading the AVS Video converter, does anyone have any experiences with it?

Transfer records to UNIX with different record length

Hi all,
I have the following problem. I have to transfer records to a UNIX file. The maximum length of a record is 2000. The records are TAB seperated. I also have records which have a length less then 2000. When i look at the file in Excel the last field is always very large. Isn't there a way to only transfer the real length of the record. I have tried to transfer the record in Binary an Text mode. I used the Length statement, but nothing worked for me.

"Transfer" with "length" option should work. I am not sure what you passed as length to the "transfer" command. Did you used a fixed length of 2000 or did you actually found out the record length of each record and passed that value?
Scenario 1.
Here in this scenario, you will always have the last field set to maximum length.
loop at itab.
transfer itab-record to file length 2000.
endloop.
Scenario 2.
In this second scenario, you should have your excel's last field set to the maximum occupied length of that field.
loop at itab.
v_len = strlen( itab-record ).
transfer itab-record to file length v_len.
endloop.

Does quickvoice show up under shared documents when connected to iTunes. you could transfer it that way. Connect to iunes and then select your device and choose apps along the top and scroll down and see if it is there under file sharing.

Recording videos with N95

Hello.
I have recently purchased the Nokia N95 and am having some troubles with audio when recording videos.
When the sound is loud it 'crackles' during playback. This isn't because of the phone's speakers, as the crackling also occurs when I play the videos back via television or when playing the .mp4 files on the computer.
It would seem the problem is occurring when the audio is being recorded. Is there a way to decrease the sensitivity of the microphone that records the audio? If not, where is that microphone located so that I can try covering it to reduce the level of sound reaching the microphone.

The microphone is the same microphone used for voice. The opening hole is next to the charging connector on the bottom of the phone.
One way to improve this is to use the remote. When you have the Remote connected then the microphone in the remote will be used.
If someone would be clever enough they can develop a microphone that can be plugged into the 3.5mm jack of the N95 for better video recording.

Record videos with N95 in concerts = Sound distort...

If i record video in a concert of music with mi N95, the sound recorded is distorted, I think it is problem of low. Is it possible to resolve this for firmware?

It's an inbuilt chip that the Record industry insists are put into mobiles and recording devices to ensure you can't bootleg their concerts and so you have to buy their overpriced merchandice. Also it send a message to the local copyright lawers, so expect a nice lettter in the post in a few days...........

Transfer Records onto Computer using MacBook?

Hello,
I have a lot of old records, and an old record player. I just bought a brand new MacBook (the standard MacBook, not the Pro). It is the 2.16 ghz black MacBook with 2 gigs of RAM.
I am wondering if it is possible to transfer my old records onto the computer using Garage Band. If so, do I need any intermediary hardware device?
I tried to just plug the record player into the MacBook using the Audio Input port, but all I get is quiet static when it is playing. I no longer have a working stereo system to test the record player, so unfortunatly, that may be why this isn't working, but I just wanted to see if there was anything other than a faulty player that could cause these problems.

Data transfer from 6680 to N95

Hi all,
I've just bought my N95 phone and I want to transfer all data (contacts, messages, images, calendar) from my old phone 6680 to N95. The problem is that the 6680 send a message called "data mover.sis" to N95 and N95 does not recognize that kind of file.
Does anyone can help me ? I can't use the PC Suite for this transfer because the 6680 can't connect to the computer.

Perhaps you need to check your Apps Manager settings on the 6680. Turn online certificate checking to 'off' and make sure you set it so that 'all' applications can be installed.
It worked OK from N70 - N95 for me but not the other way round. In fact the N95 has a welcome application which includes the transfer utility and which autostarts after boot up asking if you want to run it. Selecting 'yes' gives a number (3) of options, one of which is the transfer utility. Hope this helps - can't think of anything else offhand.

Transfer of Birthdays to N95 8GB using Phone Switc...

I transferred my Birthdays from a 6230i to a N95 8GB using the Phone Swith facility and infrared and they have transferred to the N95 as Meetings rather than Anniversaries.
The Meetings are on the N95 with a Yearly repeat but are not Anniversaries. The age is not displayed on the calendar entry whereas it was on the 6230i. The reminder alarm has not transferred either and there is no way of viewing these birthdays separately from other calendar entries.
Have I done something wrong with the transfer? Can this be corrected? Does the N95 not have the same calendar facilities as the 6230i?! Please advise. Thanks in advance!

Yeah this is really annoying - I've done the same thing in upgrading from my 6233, and I'm still trying to find a solution other than manually editing every single entry.
Actually there are tons of things, basic functionalities, which were present in the 6233 but which are missing or not as good in the so called 'smart phone'!
I really wish Nokia would keep things consistent between models, as we all spend a long time getting used to a particular model and developing habits and ways of doing things - then we upgrade, sticking with Nokia so we don't have to change the way we do things, only to find out that Nokia have removed/changed/buggered up a perfectly good function.
Anyway, if I find a solution I'll post it here - and if you could do the same that'd be great! :-)

I've recorded clips on Recorder Plus HD and wish to transfer them to my PC which has windows 7. However, below the file sharing option under the Apps tab in iTunes, I dont see these clips.... What should I do?

Record video freezes n95 8 gig

Hello quastion
i have last version firmware
when i record a movie in high quality then everything fine
can shoot 10 sec or 10 min.
when i say ready and try a second one then every 2 sec small freeze and then reecord freeze
when i remove the video's the first one from n95 and do a new one.
then everything fine second one freeze also after reboot.
when i do one setting lower i can do movie movie movie
no freezes.
it seems for me some sofware error becauce always when i have one video on memory and do a second one high qualty
it freezes when do record like it read out some info first one.
I can put 900 mb movie on memory without problemes.

I found out that yestarday at 5 am... i was trying everything to fix it,, i think it was a virus or something (not sure)
but, it works fine, after i formated the MAss memory..

Cannot transfer recorded big video files to computer

So I recorded a 12 min vid with the touch the other day, and it just' won't transfre to the computer. I get some error & it won't go through my desktop. The vid plays fine on my ipod. So I just did another test to record another 12 min vid, and I got the same problem with that video. Seems like I'm not able to transfer big videos to my computer because I'll get an error.....

Called an apple support & they solved it. Apparently IOS 4.1 is having these problems.

Whereas the Nokia 6110 Navigator was in development prior to Nokia's acquisition of Smart2Go and uses Route 66 mapping, there is no way of using Route 66 maps with Nokia Maps application that I know of unfortunately as they are incompatible.
