Transfer saved emails from disc to Thunderbird

The hard disk in my PC was malfunctioning and I just managed to transfer all my past e-mails that I had saved (in several folders) onto a CD. There they appear as Thunderbird Documents (a lot of them). I can open each one and I can save each one into my new PC Thunderbird program. Is there any way I can transfer all of them in one go? I can sort them into their appropriate folders later.

how do I transfer saved emails from old ipad to new ipad?

    Hi trevorius,
Happy New Year!  The answer to your question depends on what email account you are using.   If it is your iCloud email account, the email messages will be available when you enable iCloud on your new iPad.  If it is an iMap account like Gmail, the messages will be redownloaded from their server.

Transfer content from an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to a new device
You can use iCloud or iTunes to transfer content from your current iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to another device.
    Use iCloud Backup
Follow these steps if both your devices use iOS 5 or later and you have an iCloud account. If not, please follow the iTunes steps below.
You can use iCloud Backup to back up your previous device and then restore the backup to a new device. Your saved messages, email accounts, photos, notes, and other personal settings will be transferred to your new device.
    See more about iCloud Backup.
    Turn on iCloud Backup
Start by backing up your old device to iCloud:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    Turn on iCloud Backup.
You may want to connect to power and turn Wi-Fi on.
    Back up now
iCloud backs up your device once a day. To back up your device before you transfer content:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
    Tap Back Up Now.
Wait until the backup finishes. How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.
    Set up your new device
When the backup of your old device is finished, turn on your new device. Follow the setup assistant, which will ask you to choose these things:
    Your language and country
    Whether to enable Location Services
    A Wi-Fi network
If you've already set up your device, you can reset it so that you can go through the iOS Setup Assistant again and restore from your backup. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do this only if you already have a backup.
    Restore from iCloud Backup
When you're asked to set up:
    Choose Restore from iCloud Backup.
    Tap next.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Choose the backup
Choose the backup of your old device and tap Restore. Wait until the device finishes restoring from the backup.
How long it will take depends on how big the backup is and how fast your Internet connection is.
    Sync other content from iTunes
When the restore finishes, your device will restart. You should connect the device to iTunes to sync data that isn't in the backup (such as music, videos, or apps that you didn't purchase from the iTunes Store or the App Store ). To change the type of content that syncs, click the syncing tabs in iTunes.
    Enter your passwords
When you're restoring an iCloud backup to a new device, you'll need to enter your password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts, and voicemail. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.

    Use iTunes
If you don't have an iCloud account or you just want to keep a backup on your computer, you can use iTunes to back up and transfer content on your device.
    Get ready
Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer and the latest version of iOS on your original device.
You can't install a backup of a newer version of iOS onto devices that are using earlier versions of iOS. If your backup came from a device that has a newer version of iOS installed, update your new device before you transfer your data. For help, see Unable to restore from a backup of a newer iOS device.
    Back up and transfer
First, back up your old device using iTunes. You can also encrypt the backup so that it remembers the passwords for your email, Wi-Fi, and more when you transfer to the new device. Otherwise, you can re-enter these passwords on the new device.
Then transfer your data from your device to your computer.
    Remove your SIM card
If your device has a SIM card, use the SIM-extractor tool or a paper clip to remove the SIM from your old device and insert it into your new device. Or if your carrier gave you a new SIM card, use that instead.
    Set up the new device
When the backup of your old device is finished, turn on your new device. Follow the setup assistant, which will ask you to choose these things:
    Your language and country
    Whether to enable Location Services
    A Wi-Fi network
If you don’t have a Wi-Fi or cellular data connection, you can also activate by tapping Connect to iTunes.
    Restore the backup
When prompted to set up your device, select Restore from iTunes Backup.
    Connect to iTunes
Connect your new device to iTunes, using the same computer you used to back up your current device. iTunes will ask you to restore from backup or set up as new. Select the backup of your old device and choose Continue.
If the progress bar in iTunes pauses for a while, wait until the restore finishes.
    Sync other content
When the restore finishes, your device restarts, and then it's ready for you to use.
Keep your device connected to iTunes to sync content that isn't in the backup (such as music, videos, and apps). To change the type of content that syncs, click the syncing tabs in iTunes.
    Enter your passwords
If you restored from an unencrypted backup, you'll need to enter the password for your Apple ID, email and other accounts, and voicemail. If you've forgotten your voicemail password, contact your carrier.

how do I transfer saved email to my new icloud account?

When you migrate a MobileMe account to iCloud your email is transferred to the iCloud server, including all folders on the server.
However your signature says you have 10.6.8 - is this correct? (If not please amend it to prevent confusion.) Snow Leopard is not compliant with iCloud but you can set Mail up manually to access your iCloud email. Please see this page:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard

Trying to figure out how to transfer sent email from my old iphone 4 to my new iphone 5s.  Anyone have any idea?

If you have a POP account, this will not happen. If you have an IMAP or Exchange account signing in as the other poster stated will work. So, it depends on what type of account you have.

  • Sending email from Lr4 with Thunderbird

Can anyone provide some help for  sending email from Lr4 with Thunderbird as the email program. When I select a photo and right-click Email Photo... I get the email photo dialog box with Mozilla Thunderbird in the From drop down. I click Send, and then I get an error message that says "There is no email program associated to perform the requested action. Please install an email program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel."
Well, it seems as thigh Lr has Thunderbird in the From drop down, it knows an email program exists. Thunderbird is set as the default. I'm not sure what associations I am supposed to make (.eml and .wdseml are the default extensions, MAILTO is the default protocol, and Send mail is the default MAPI).
    Ay clues or hints?

My default mail program is Thunderbird, and it works OK with Lightroom. If you are on a Windows 7 PC, go to Control Panel and check this out.
    Hope it helps.

  • Upload saved emails from Thunderbird to Verizon Message Center?

I have used T-Bird for Verizon email for a long time.  Now, for sync reasons with my Verizon phone, I would like to switch to Verizon Message Center.  Can I upload my saved emails to VMC?  How about contacts and calendar?  (There are instructions for POP like Gmail, etc, but not for downloaded/saved emails.)
    Thanks.

In general no, it doesn't accept uploads.  You could send a copy to yourself.

You should also ask this in the MacBook Air forum. This is the forum for the white and black plastic MacBooks that were discontinued in 2010. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.

  • How can I transfer old emails from my ipad to my new  i mac

I have just purchased a new IMac and am trying to get my pop account emails from my ipad into mail on the new imac, does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks for that. I'm always a bit concerned about losing data from one to the other, I have no way to back up emails on I pad. If I sync will it take all emails that aren't on the computer and transfer them. I was under the impression that it would only sync email account details.

  • How do I restore locally saved emails from back-up after Lion re-installed

Since upgrading (?not sure this is the correct word) to Lion I've experienced periodic crashes- my 24" iMac (2.93 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB memory) suddenly shut down using iPhoto, Safari, and/or Pages. Applecare expired so I took it into a Genius bar: after running numerous hardware diagnostic tests I was told it was not a hardware problem, and a complete reinstall of Lion and all Apple software was recommended. I agreed- after all I had back-ups on a My Book which I thought I could easily use to restore my personal data. I was directed to drag files between Finder windows rather than try to restore from backup via Time Machine. All was well & good until I tried to restore my numerous mail folders and locally-saved emails. Evidently Mail is a hidden folder... I've been told by my helpful user group buddies how to see the hidden Mail folder on my iMac, but not on the My Book. Trying to restore from back-up via Time Machine is not an option, as I guess it doesn't recognize the newly installed system. Also tried going into Mail and importing, but when I navigate to the backup there is no visible Mail folder. Another suggestion was to try 3rd party software i.e. Back in Time or BackUp Loupe. I keep thinking there's some secret key combination, some easy way I just don't know of to retrieve my Mail data from the backup... is there???

    Mail is in the username/Library/Mail
In the Finder- Library his hidden by default.  If you use the drop down menu Finder>Go  hold the option key down to make visible the Library.
    or Go to Folder
    ~/Library/Mail

  • Transferring saved emails from BT Yahoo UK Webmail

I am a BT Yahoo UK customer and have been using their web mail to manage my email for the last few 5 years. I therefore have many emails saved in various folders.
Six months ago I bought my first Mac and set up the Mail.app to access by BT Yahoo account. I now use Mail.app for all email and don't use the BT Yahoo UK Web Mail at all except to access saved emails. This is a nuisance.
Is there a way to transfer my saved emails on BT Yahoo's Web Mail servers to the Mail.app on my MacBook?
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Regards,
    Jon.

If I’ve understood it correctly, you’ve now set up the account in Mail as POP, right? In that case, all you have to do is move the archived mail to Inbox so that Mail can see and download it. Do that with one folder at a time, so that you can keep your mail organized however you want.

  • I can't find all my saved emails from an email address I was downloading to Modzilla. How do I find it again?

I tried to go into Modzilla and find my saved emails which was the sole purpose of having it. However, when I clicked on Modzilla, it loaded, then asked about having an email with them. I wanted to use an existing email. I put in my current email. It didn't lead me where I thought it would, and now I can't remember my username and password to get into my previous email!

Your username and email password are established with your email provider. You need to work with them if you do not know what they are.
Your email address is usually your username. Some providers use the entire address and others only want the part before the @ sign.
