Transfer Sent Email to Another Mac

I have a G4 laptop that I travel with. I often send email from this computer which end up appearing in the Sent file. I would love to transfer (copy) these individual sent emails (not the entire Sent file) to my desktop Mac Pro also running Mail.
Any help and I will worship you!
Thanks

Well, you could copy the /Home/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/Sent.mbox/ folder to the other computer. If you prefer not having to re-copy the folder all the time then use any synchronization tool to simply sync the two folders. This should only copy new or changed files. Of course you will need some way of connecting the two computers. This could be done via your local network with file sharing enabled on one of the computers (or both.) Or you can connect the two via FireWire if it's supported on both computers. You could use Target Disk Mode or Mac OS X 10.5 Help- Using IP over FireWire.
A better alternative is to convert your email service from POP to IMAP. All mail is stored on the IMAP server. Thus, each computer sees exactly the same mail folders regardless of whether one or both are online. This eliminates any need to sync or copy files between computers. This is easy to do if your email ISP supports IMAP accounts. Simply change your email account to IMAP, then create a new IMAP account in Mail.

  • How to get mail prefs and emails to another Mac?

    Hi,
How do I take all my accounts and emails to another Mac? Just copying the ~/library/mail folder doesn't copy the account data. When I copy that folder to another Mac, Mail does not recognize the account data.

    Hi current,
In addition to ~/Library/Mail, copy over ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist *This is a very important file which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences.
Then launch Mail. If it asks to import anything, decline.

  • HT201269 How can i transfer sent email from my old iphone to the new one?

Trying to figure out how to transfer sent email from my old iphone 4 to my new iphone 5s.  Anyone have any idea?

If you have a POP account, this will not happen. If you have an IMAP or Exchange account signing in as the other poster stated will work. So, it depends on what type of account you have.

  • My iTunes library is constructed entirely of uploaded music cds. How can I transfer this music to another mac

My iTunes library is constructed entirely of uploaded music cds. How can I transfer this music to another mac (I'm replacing current macbook)? Eventually, I will begin using itunes to download / purchase music. Do i need to transfer original library before updating itunes library on the cloud? What's order of operations?

    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
    Full Details Here  >  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

  • I synced my photos with one of my macs. Now I want to transfer those photos to another mac

I had a bunch of photos on one of my mac books. I wanted those photos on my iPhone 6.
I have synced the folder with my phone - and now I'm able to see those photos in one of my albums on my iPhone.
However, now I want to transfer the photos from that album onto another mac but I find that when I connect my phone to that mac, and I browse iPhoto or Image Capture I'm only able to see photos taken with my iPhone Camera and not the photos I just transferred into the new album.
Am I doing something wrong or is it really not possible to transfer photos this way (i.e. Mac A ---> iPhone 6 ----> Mac B) ?
    Thanks

    Hi Terence:
so that sounds like better news...I should be OK when this happens?
Essentially my events become albums...I still have the separation ..correct?
Why would this be a problem?
This was a response from an earlier post from Vanoord that concerned me: quote..see next-
Events has been removed from Photos - it's replaced by 'Moments'.
'Moments' are like 'Events', but split up by the software and you have no control over what goes where, or what they're called. If you've got 300 Events now, you can look forward to about 3,000 'Moments'.
This response implies that all my 300 events will become separated into thousands of moments.  What does this mean?  Is this true?
Won't my Events just become albums as you suggested?
I have years of events that have accumulated and collated photos.  They must stay separated.
****the other thing I was unclear about was the synching part..
    Example:
I have 300 albums with 30K photos distributed in various numbers in each album ( used to be events according to your response)
I add some photos in each album each day
I set all my devices to the cloud etc...
the cloud synchs from my designated "source" Macbook...
the cloud sees this and uploads
then the confusing part...the other devices ( MacBooks, I pad, i phone) all will see the synch and can then be designated to download to each device in the original form as we view it on a Macbook or i phone?  What does "full resolution" or optimized previews mean as Leonie replied above?
I need my JPEG images for my education keynote presentations and e mailing images as required from each event as needed ( soon to be albums)
Thanks again...just want to understand what is going to happen

  • Redirecting already sent email to another party

When I want to send an email I've already written and sent to another party I always end up clicking forward, but then the email is blue and has the lines on the side. Is there a way to cue up an already sent email, insert a different recipient, and have it appear new and not a product of being forwarded? Thanks.

select a message in the sent mailbox. then select "send again" from the message menu. change the recipient address and send.

  • How to Transfer Address Book to Another Mac?

I want to move my existing Address Book to another family member's new Mac. We've been using a shared Mail account and my wife just wants the addresses and auto-completes on her new Macbook Pro. My idea is to copy the Address Book from our iMac and put it into the same location on her Macbook Pro. It's in User/Library/Applications Support. Will this do the trick?
    Thanks,
    Steve M.

P.S. Would exporting and importing the Address Book archive also transfer the mail auto-complete data?
Yes, it does, if you are talking about the Previous Recipients.
An address book archive is just a copy of your user/Library/Application Support/AddressBook folder packaged up differently. That folder contains the previous recipients database.
If you don't have any contacts in your new address book, then transferring it via the archive should work.
You can also just copy contents of the AddressBook folder mentioned above.

  • Sent email showing in .mac inbox

I searched about this and saw others having issues with Yahoo and Gmail accounts, but didn't see any regarding .Mac.
I send email from the iPhone and it shows up in my inbox on the computer as well as going to the person I sent it to. Why? How do I stop this?
    Thanks
    Ron

It seems that the Mail prefs on the computer were the problem. Under Accounts>Mailbox Prefs> checked the Store sent messages on the server and this solved the problem.

  • Transfer purchased movies to another mac?

I want to purchase, not rent a few movies on iTunes, but If i'm getting rid of my current Mac and get a new one, can I transfer those movies to my new computer like I would do with music?

Yes. As with purchased music, you will just need to authorize your computer to play them.

  • Transfer Printer Settings to Another Mac

Hello - I have a few printers to configure among twelve different Macs. All Macs run Tiger. How could I configure the printers once, and copy the settings to the other macs? Thanks

Here's a generalized concept - but remember I don't have any intel Macs.
And this assumes you have already installed the driver for any printer that isn't included in OS X.
The Printer List of Printer Setup is totally contained in the file /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, plus the folder of "currently Added printer PPDs," /etc/cups/ppd.
Saved Settings are saved in files in /Library/Preferences that start with com.apple.print.

  • Getting email from another Mac

I crashed my MacBook. I now have a drive with my old User folder, including my Mail folder.
    I'm on a new iMac.
How can I get the messages from the inbox and other mailboxes from the drive to the new iMac?
    thanks.

Connect the drive with your old Home folder to mount it on the Desktop of your new Mac. Quit Mail if you have it open. Navigate to /Home/Library/ folder on the new Mac. Put the Mail folder in the Trash (if one exists.) Navigate to the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder and put the com.apple.mail.plist file in the Trash (if it exists.) DO NOT empty the Trash yet.
Now open a Finder window on the external drive that has your old Home folder. Navigate to the /Users/username/Library/ folder (username is the account name you used.) Copy the Mail folder to /Home/Library/ on your new computer. Copy /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder on your new computer.
Open Mail on the new computer to assure everything is there. If so you can empty the Trash.

  • Transfer iweb site to another mac

My hard drive broke and now I have a new one installed. I would like to download/manage my iweb-mobileme site from this new hard drive. How can I sync the new disc with my mobileme?

    tragicoptimist wrote:
How can I sync the new disc with my mobileme?
You can't sync your published iWeb site from MobileMe back to a new disk. Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb.
You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
See also this Apple doc: _iWeb: Backing up your Domain file_
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:
