Transfer Slow from Library to Albums

Hello. I am noticing quite a delay when I drag a photo from the Library into an album. The delay can be 30-60 seconds, where it used to be 3 or 4 seconds (these times are approximate but should be close). My HD space, originally 40GB has only about 5GB left and the Ram in my eMac is 384. There are about 10,500 photos in the Library and I have no external HD. I would appreciate comments as to what is slowing this down even though I suspect too many photos, too little HD space and even too little RAM. Thanks for any ideas. Cheers.

When you get your external drive, use Disk Utility to reformat the drive in the Mac OS Extended format if it isn't already so formatted. When ready, drag your iPhoto Library folder from your Pictures folder to the hard drive. Once the folder has been copied, follow the iPhoto Help instructions under the topic, "Switching between photo libraries". Once it's verified that everything went without incident, you can move the original iPhoto Library from Pictures to the trash, and empty it.
Just remember to mount the external drive before launching iPhoto.

i.e I would like to retain the photos in the albums (created on the iPhone), not just trasfer all the photos from my Camera Roll onto my PC.

    Hi henrii,
You need to install the iCloud control panel on your computer to obtain the photos from Photostream. There is no need to connect the phone to your computer to do this.

  • Can I auto-delete Album photos from Library once Album itself is deleted ? (iPhoto)

Tell me I've missed something really simple, please !
I've just spent 3 hours carefully selecting 250 single photos dotted around my entire iPhoto Library (8,000 pics)
I've put them in an Album ready to export.
After exporting this Album, I will want to delete the Album - and, crucially, all the originals from my Library - surely I don't have to spend another 3 hours sifting through the 8,000-strong Library again to relocate each of the 250 ?  Isn't there some one-click option, having exported the Album, and now ready to delete the Album, like, e.g. Delete Originals from Library After Deleting this Album ??   (I understand I can't only delete the Album to get rid of these pics completely, cos the originals will stay hidden and dispersed about the Library)
    Thank you for any help

  • New Mac can't transfer songs from library to iPhone or iPods

I just bought a new Mac Mini because my iBook died. My iTunes library is stored on an external hard drive. I can see the library in iTunes, but when I try to move them to my iPhone or iPods I get an error message. It states that the new computer must be authorized. I do the authorization process and it tells me that this is computer of 2 of the 5 that I can authorize to play music and it is authorized. But, I can play the songs thru iTunes, but can't transfer them to any other devices.
The majority of the music in my library wasn't purchased thru iTunes. It is music ripped from purchased CD's to the hard drive and then imported into my library. I have had no problems for the last 5 years with this library on the laptop.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong, or suggestions on how to solve the problem?
Thank you in advance for any help.

  • ITunes won't transfer music from library to phone. HELP!

My computer recently crashed so I had to get a new computer. My new computer has Windows 8.1 and the latest version of iTunes. When I try to manually move music from my iTunes library to my phone, it won't allow me to do so. It just will not allow me to transfer ANY mp3 songs to my phone. I did not have this problem on my old computer which had Windows Vista. I have a iPhone 4S with the latest update iOS 7.0.2. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I would love to find a solution. Is anyone else having this problem? Can you help me out?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kelly

  • How to transfer downloads from library to windows 7 itunes

I have downloaded audiobooks from the public library and connot transfer them to my ipod through itunes using Windows 7

I'm having a similar problem attempting to transfer an audio book via OverDrive Media Console to my iPod Touch using a Win 7 PC.  I am not new to the process...I have successfully transferred books many times in the past...and I experimented and had no trouble transferring the same book using a different PC to the same iPod.
The only thing that has happened is that when I attemped a recent iTunes update, my PC froze during the process and forced me to abort the update....and since then I have not been able to complete an audio book transfer without getting the the following error message...
"No portabel players could be found.  Please make sure your portable player or cable is properly inserted into the appropriate slot of this computer."
Although the Overdrive Media Console does not recognize the attached iPod, the iPod is recognized by the PC and iTunes and as I mentioned earlier, recognized by another PC.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, Overdrive Media Console and QuickTime multiple times, reset the iPod and I still have the problem.  I assume the problem is with Overdrive, however I cannot find a solution anywhere and Overdrive does not have any kind of support or forum and their FAQ that supposedly addresses the error message is useless.
Any advice or leads to solving this problem will be greatly appreciated.

  • HT201317 How can I transfer photos from my photo album to my photo stream?

I have a new iPhone, same phone (4s) & I'm trying to transfer everything using iCloud, but some of my pictures are in my photo album & some ate in my photo stream.  Only the photo stream photos are transferring to the new device. How do I move my photo album pictures into my photo stream so I can transfer them to my new phone?  Thank you.

If your pictures in your camera roll, you need to restore your phone from back up of the old phone. If your pictures in the albums that were transferred from computer, you need to get a hold on that computer and transfer again. Instructions on how to create back up and restore from that back up found here.

  • Automatically Transfer Music from Library to Playlist?

Is there a way to automatically transfer a music CD that I copy to the library into a playlist that I have setup by genre instead of manually moving the songs?
    5th Generation Ipod   Windows XP

At the top of the settings screen, there is an option for match all or any. Change it to match any to get the artist and all songs within a certain genre. It could be that the song isn't in that genre also (if you have match all selected). Check under one of the songs for correct spelling etc.

  • Can't transfer pictures from phone to album.

I tried sending pictures from my phone to my online album. I keep getting a message saying that it cannot be found. Yet, I can sign into it. How can I get my pictures to download?

If your phone allows it, you'd probably be better off downloading the photos directly to your computer and bypassing the on-line album.  Which phone do you have?

  • When attempting to transfer ebooks from library to Nook I get error message "Failed to write destination file."

  • How do I transfer photos from iphoto album to my ipad

How do I transfer photos from my iphoto album on my Imac to my ipad

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How can I transfer photos in an iphoto album to a usb in the order they are in the album?

I just got a digital photo frame and want to transfer pictures from an iPhoto album in the order they are in the album. When I try and move them to a usb or card they are rearranged according to the number of the photo. How can I transfer them in the order they should be for an album or slide show?

Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • I do not see Library or Albums when creating books?

I want to be able to choose my photos from Library or albums while craeting a book in iPhoto 06, please tell me how I can see me photos while creating a book.
    Thank you,
    Sebastian

    Hi SebastianMacLuver,
The easiest way to create a book is to make an album containing all the images you think you might want to include in the book. Then select the album to create the book from. If you decide you want more photos from your library, select them in the library and drag them to the book icon in the source column. The new images will appear in the strip at the top of your book viewing window.
