Transfer Songs off of Mac OS 9.1 to Mac OS 10.4. Tiger

I just recently bought a new Apple Computer, ( Intel iMac 10.4) to replace my old classic 9.1 iMac. Now my question is how do I transfer the songs off of iTunes on my old iMac to my new Intel iMac, iSync will not work as it requires the second computer to be an OS X. Also i want to try to advoid burning all the songs but it would take way too long. I was wondering if you could use a flash USB drive, but would the Classic Mac OS be to old to reconize it when I plug it in?
Thanks,
Justin. A Dedicated Mac user

If the old iMac has a FireWire port, hook both machines up with a FireWire cable, start the old computer up with the T key held down, and drag the songs to the new iMac's hard disk.
If not, you can use an USB flash drive with Mac OS 9.

  • Want to transfer songs off ipod

My old computer crashed and I lost all the memory. Is there a way I can transfer songs off of my Ipod mini to my new computer?

There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.

  • How to transfer song off my iPhone 5 to my computer

So i recently had my lap top stolen with all my music on it!  I have all my music on my iphone but would like it to be on my lap top.  Is there a way to transfer these files to my lap top?  As of right now I only have my purchased songs off itunes but I am still missing 1,300 songs or so.

The only photos that can be imported, are photos in your camera roll. Read here:

  • How do you transfer songs from a MAC to a Sony Spiral phone? I have tried USB and Blue tooth and no success.

I have a Sony Spiral phone and can not transfer music to it. I have tried USB and Blue tooth. I either get a message on the iMac saying "not enough space" but I have a Micro SD card in the phone. Or via blue tooth when I select yes on the phone to confirm the transfer it automatically cancels it.

You will need to refer to the user manual for the phone.

  • Transfer itunes music from mac to pc

My daughter has a new PC laptop and I would like to get all her 900 songs off my mac and onto her PC. How do I do that? We have tried doing it via her ipod but the computer just wants to erase her ipod when she plugs it into the PC (I know this is because it's formatted to the Mac). I do have Pod to PC software and tried to use Xplay3 without any results. Is there another way to transfer the whole library?

My back up copy is on an external hard drive formatted for the Mac not a PC. I don't think this is possible for me to do. Can I burn the files to a DVD-R and then transfer them over and if so in which format should they put on the DVD-R? The support page was not helpful. No indication on how to transfer from a Mac to a PC.

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases from the phone to your Mac's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music purchased from other sites and/or copied from other sites, then if you haven't got a copy of them on a backup then you will need to find a third-party program that can copy them off the phone.

  • Transfer songs from Mac to iPod, then transfer songs from PC to same iPod?

I would like to know if it is possible, and how to transfer some songs from my Mac (Power PC G4) to my iPod (iPod 20GB with color display), and THEN transfer some more songs from my husband's computer (Windows PC) to the SAME iPod WITHOUT ERRASING the ones I already transfered from the Mac.
Is this possible? do I need a special sodftware for this? can I find this software free anywhere?
    Please help, thank you!

As pointed out by Mitch, the key here is you want to format the iPod (via the Restore command when plugged into the Windows iTunes) for Windows and both machines can read the iPod. Next set the iPod for manual syncing. You can now plug it into either computer and manually add stuff to the iPod or delete items off of it...

  • I am going to restore my Macbook Pro to it's factory condition. In iTunes I have renamed a lot of my songs. Last time I cleaned off my mac and restored my music I had to rename all those songs again. How do I get itunes to remember all of those names?

I am going to restore my Macbook Pro to it's factory condition. I do this every once in a while because it seems to improve performance. I backup everything to an external drive and then I restore only what I want from my backup drive. In iTunes I have renamed a lot of my songs. Last time I cleaned off my mac and restored/reloaded my music I had to rename all those songs again. It took me about 2 weeks to reorganize my music. How do I get iTunes to remember all of those names and keep everything exactly the same when I restore/reload the music into iTunes?

It may seem like it does but it really doesn't.
Just delete stuff you don't want.

Use Time Machine, backup everything, do the reinstall (I recommend you don't do it) then restore your user folder with Time Machine.

  • Every time i plug the phone into the computer i get a popup saying "the usb plugged in is drawing too much power".  how am i going to get the song off that old phone and into my new mac

I recently got both an iphone 5 and a macbook air.  im trying to take the songs off my old phone (iphone 4s) and get them onto my mac's itunes and then be able to sync them to my new 5.  every time i plug in the 4s into the mac, it says that the USB is drawing too much power and has to be shut off.  what should i do to recover my songs?

Are you using a usb hub or anything like that? If so, try without. Otherwise unplug everything from your mac and reboot with your iphone 4s plugged in and nothing else.
    Hope it works!
