Transfer to voicemail on Lync phone workarounds?

Since transfer to voicemail isn't an option on Lync Phone Edition, what workarounds have people found?
I've played a bit with an automated attendant, where consult before transfer, call the attendant, punch in the extention but the call restarts when the transfer is complete.
Is there a qualified phone out there that does not run Lync Phone Edition that could give us this option?
Has anyone built an MSPL script that can help?

Voicemail is a carrier feature, not a phone feature. This has to be fixed by your carrier, so contact them, as obviously, voicemail is not properly provisioned on your account.

Syncing won't transfer the photos.  If you want to transfer you camera roll photos, as well as your other data and settings, see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109.  If you only are concerned with photos, import them from your old phone to your computer as shown here:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then put them in a folder and select to sync this folder to your new phone on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and sycing your new phone.

  • Lync Phone Edition and wpad.dat - using proxy for firmware updates

Our Lync Phone Edition devices seem determined to use our proxy server for firmware updates, even though the server is directly accessible.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Is there a workaround?
The phones are learning of the wpad.dat file via DHCP 252.  The wpad file has several rules that should be causing a bypass but none is taking effect.   The proxy is dropping the traffic because it doesn't match a rule.

I do not have those options set in DHCP because we do not use these as PIN-authenticated phones.  The phone is registering fine and is learning the correct URL:

Are you saying that the phone will bypass the proxy if it learns the server name via DHCP but it will use the proxy (and ignore the local names list in wpad.dat) if it learns the name via DNS-based discovery and SIP registration?

  • Is it possible to disable Exchange integration on Lync Phone when not tethered?

    Hi all,
I know there are many other threads about this issue, but my question is a bit different.
As we know, Lync phone edition gives the following message when not tethered to USB
"connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable because you signed in directly on the phone"
A customer of mine has lots of devices logged in by pin instead of USB tethering and end-users keep asking questions about this.
Is it possible to to suppress this message with some kind of client policy ?
    Regards,
Stefan van der Heijden - Advantive

No, not really.  I can't take you up on your advice and use delegates.  The use case excludes PC all together - there is no computer nearby to be used.  In my case they need to make and receive phone calls, be able to transfer calls, and have
a voice mail feature.  Lync Edition device does not accommodate this use case well.  Here are the issues so far.
    1. You can't transfer calls unless phone is unlocked.  There is a way to change that trough policy, but the phone lock policy works on per site basis.  On a small deployment like ours with a single site this means phone lock for everyone or no
    one.
    2. Phone shows error about "Exchange integration" as we discussed above.  Due to interface design choices this means that "menu" button is obscured form view.  That makes it impossible for uninformed user to transfer a call.
Here is the bottom line the way I see it: the Lync Edition Phone is great for an office (cubical farm) environment, but when time comes to deal with special use cases the assumptions Lync/Exchange team made backfire.  I'd have to go to Lync Server compatible
phone like Polycom VVX to get around phone lock issue.  In Polycom world that is configurable on per phone basis, as, one would argue, it should be.  Polycom have bugs of their own though - you can't make "blind transfer" a default method of transfer.
So, no good solution so far.

  • Transfer to voicemail supervised transfer

    Hello,
I have my transfer to voicemail setup and working using *4xxx as the directory number and I have a transfer to voicemail profile attached to that directory number and a CTI route point with that line attached to it..  All is fine and working in multiple locations.
I have one location now that is having an odd issue.  The receptionist wants to transfer a call to voicemail and she presses transfer, then presses *, then presses the blf speed dial button on her sidecar, then before she can press transfer again she hears the greeting from the voicemailbox that she is transfering too.  She can then hit transfer and the initial caller still hears the entire greeting like normal.  But why would she be hearing the initial greeting?
Could I have missed something in my config?
    Thanks,
    Dan.

    Hi guys,
There's a pretty good explanation of the behavior (expected) within these
    bug notes
    It was a Bug in earlier versions;
    CSCsm67316 Bug Details
The greeting doesn't start over when callers transferred to VM box
    Symptom:
Whena call is transferred to VM the greeting doesn't start over. Insteadthe greeting keeps playing and the greeting is heard mid stream afterthe transfer.
    Conditions:
Normaloperation, either transfer via a CTI route point where the operator cantransfer to VM extension *XXXX, or can be transfered to VM via themessages softkey.
    Workaround:
Unity Connection can be configured to inject a delay before playing the greeting. On the ports page in the system administration tool, change the setting "Delay After Answer" to a suitable value. We admit this is not a great solution, since this delay will affect every call, not just transfers, and the timing needs to be chosen just right.
    Further Problem Description:
    Observed behavior in CUCMBE-6.0.1.1000-37
    1. PSTN caller dials the main company number.
    2. Company's operator answers the call.
    3. PSTN callers asks the operator to transfer his call directly to a person's voice mail.
4a. Operator hits the "transfer" softkey (the PSTN caller is now on hold).
4b. Operator dials * plus the extension number.
4c. The person's greeting starts to play immediately.
4d. The operator hits the "transfer" softkey again, to complete the call transfer.
    5. The PSTN caller hears the person's greeting truncated, not from the beginning but from
the point where it was when the operator hit "transfer" the second time.
Fix implementation for Connection 7.0 and 2.x:
ForConnection 7.0, entire prompt stream will restart when either thedestination IP address changes or the destination CODEC changes. Sameas Unity restart prompt behavior.
ForConnection 2.x, only the currently playing prompt will be restarted. Sousers must have a recorded greeting in place in order to get the fullbenefits of the restart prompt feature. If no personal greeting isconfigured (default greeting), then prompt restart will most likelyhappen during the part of the default prompt that says ".. Is notavailable...". The prompt "extension xxxx" won't be heard since it's atthe top of the prompt list.

Conditions: When transferring messages the recordingstarts before the second transfer is hit, I need help to configure thisso that the the Greeting message doesn't start until the message hadactually been transferred the second time. Workaround: In the SA, go toTelephony and bring up the port group page, then from the Edit menuchoose the advanced settings. The setting you want is "Delay BeforeOpening Greeting". The bad news is that this value will apply to allcalls, not just transfers. So pick the minimum value that works foryou.

    Hi King Arthur 2000,
Voice memos can be shared back to a computer in a number of different ways, described in this article -

How do you transfer voice memos from your phone to computer

Is it possible to transfer a voice memo to my computer and then convert that to text that can be printed?
Here is my problem. I study harbor seals and have always taken hand written notes that then must be typed into the computer when I get home from an observation. Is there any way I can dictate what I see to a voice memo and then have that translated to text. If there is which would do it best an iphone or ipad (I have neither, just a tracphone for an emergency).
Perhaps this is asking too much from the technology available but it would be a great help if I could do this.
Thanks for any help you can give!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
If your sister doesn't know the password for her old ID, and if her old ID is an earlier version of her current ID, she needs to temporarily recreate the old ID so you can delete if from your phone using her current password.  To do this, have her go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with her current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to her old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to her old email address.  You can now use the password for her current ID to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for her old account ID.  After you do this, Next, have your sister recreate her current ID again by going back to https://appleid.apple.com and changing her primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.
Then your can save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to the camera roll on your device, then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted.  You will be prompted to either keep or delete the iCloud data from your device.  If the data is already in another account you can choose Delete.  If you need to migrate it to another account, choose Keep, then choose Merge when signing into the new account.

I used the following method, which means that your contacts are permanently on your iPhone (the problem with syncing to Gmail in order to 'transfer' contacts is that you need the gmail account to be active all the time in order to see the contacts), take an example of transferring contacts from Sony to iPhone:
    1. Transfer all of your contacts to the Sony Experia's internal storage. It will create a vCard file.
    2. Connect your Sony Experia to a pc
    3. Ensure that you can see the Sony Experia's internal storage files, and identify the location of the vCard file (for me it was in system/PIM)
    4. Set up an email account on your iPhone
    5. Email the vCard file to the email account on your iPhone
    6. Open the vCard file attachment on your iPhone
    7. You should now see your contacts and automatically have the option (in the same screen) to 'Add all xxx Contacts' where xxx is the number of contacts in the vCard file
    Hope that helps.

  • How can I transfer music from one Windows Phone to...

I have a Nokia Lumia 1020. I dropped it and cracked the screen so I was sent a replacement device.  I was able to transfer everything from my old phone to the new one, except for the hundreds of songs I have downloaded over the last several months.  When I try to transfer the files through my computer, I get an error about some kind of digital license rights.
    What do I do?

if you purchased them through xbox music, or nokia music, go back to that product and try to redownload from that application on your new device.

    Finally can't catch the problem.
    RFT

OK, that is very telling as USB tethering has very few requirements and in most environments works rought out of the box.
Here the main things to check:
Is the Lync User's Telephony setting set to Enterprise Voice?  This is a requirement to use Lync Phone Edition (the
Line URI does not need to be populated).
Time Server issues can also prevent sign-in.  If a Time Server is not provided via DHCP or DNS SRV then the phone will fallback to connecting to
time.windows.com, so if the phone does not have Internet access or NTP traffic is blocked at a firewall, then this could be your problem as well.
Obvious, but worth pointing out: make sure the phone is connected to Ethernet and receiving a basic DHCP lease (IP, subnet, gateway, DNS, etc).  USB tethering does not work unless the device is also connected to Ethernet.
Follow the steps in this article to at least get USB tethering working
