Transfer Upgrade

Hello, I made an order today using the discount from line 2 to line 1 and when I got the email notification or confirmation shows the line 2 number. Anybody had any experience with this before? Should I just cancel the order and try again?

If line 2 is eligible for upgrade, line 2 will get the 2 year contract regardless of where the new phone is activated. So even though your intention is to use the upgrade on line 1, line 2 is still getting the 2 year contract.

  • Transfer Upgrade - Keeping Unlimited Data Plan

    We have a family plan with 5 devices.  Two of the lines have unlimited data, one has the $30/2gb plan, and two are basic phones.  We have several upgrades available since the basic phones haven't been upgraded regularly.   
    The person with the $30/2gb plan recently upgraded to an Iphone 4S in April, but now she has her eye set on the Iphone 5 when it comes out. 
    If she upgrades to the Iphone 5 in October, can I use her old Iphone 4S and keep my Unlimited plan? 
    (I wouldn't technically be upgrading my line.  Only her line would be an upgrade.  I would just be using the "discarded" phone.  I have switched back and forth between my current phone and my old phone before without issue when I left my current phone at work.  However, I am just worried there might be some footnote in the new plans that says you can't do this.)

  • Getting "Transfer Upgrade" To Stick?

    Hi,
    There are currently three phone's on my family's Family Plan. My Mom's, an LG Octane, My Brother's, an EnV3, and mine, a Droid X.
    Currently, my brother is eligible for an upgrade, but he has decided that I may use the upgrade to get the iPhone 4S with, and he will get my Droid X. I am eligible for one in May.
    I go to the "upgrade devices" page on the My Verizon page, and transfer the upgrade to my account, it changes, and I am eleigible for an upgrade now, and he in May. But the upgrade does not "stick". Unless I go right through and upgrade then and there, the upgrade goes back to him. That would be fine, except the only way to preorder the iPhone 4S on Friday will be on Apple's website, so I need the upgrade to stay with my number.
    Is there any way for me to permanently transfer the upgrade, so that his will be in May and mine available now? Thanks for the help!

    but this could voids the warranty with vzw, maybe not since its on the same plan
    but if you order on his and forget to activate it there first you get charged an etf

    Does anyone know if you will FINALLY be able to do a transfer upgrade when it goes on sale again on February 9th?

    That is such a pain in the arse that we should not have to do.
    Considering when they go on sale on the 9th it's for everyone including new customers, so I would like to think the iPhone would be added to the normal phone ordering page. Which would make the upgrade transfer work as the iPhone would be on the phone selection page with the other phones (rather than a completely separate streamlined ordering page).
    Last night (or early this morning) if you actually went to your account and clicked upgrade line, and then transfer upgrade to line 999-999-9999 and click continue, the iPhone was actually listed there amongst all the other phones. The same way as if you went right now to transfer upgrade online to a Droid. Only that when you clicked add to cart for the iPhone, it linked you to the separate iPhone pre-orderi page rather than processing the order like normal (in which the upgrade transfer would work).

    I have a secondary line that is up for upgrade.  if i transfer the upgrade to the primary line do i get to use the new every 2 pricing for this upgrade.  the secondary line upgrade jsut gets the 'ne cusotmer' pricing - the new every two for the primary gets and additonal $100 off.  so if I transfer to the primary to I get $100 off even though the primary is not the one that is up?

    When you transfer an upgrade, the line whose upgrade you took is the one that gets the contract extension. You cannot use your NE2 discount with any line but the primary. I'm not even completely sure that you can use it if you transfer the primary line's upgrade to another line. So, no, if you transfer upgrades from the secondary line, you will not be able to use your NE2 discount

    I got conflicting responses. Some folks are saying the dumb phone also needs to have an upgrade available.
    You are PARTIALLY correct. If you do a alternate upgrade, it is going to extend the contract on line one, not line 3. you will have to activate the phone first on line 3 in order not to be charged back the full retail cost of the new device. You can move the phone to line 1, but I would not be surprised if the system catches this and makes you choose a tiered data plan given the fact that line 1 has a new contract. The only way you will TRULY know, is by doing it. Speculation can be unreliable. The things people try to do to get around new policies.....

    We have a family plan.  With 1 smartphone and 1 non-smartphone. 
    non-Smartphone is eligible for new discounted phone now.  
    Smartphone is eligible for discounted phone in January-2013.
    Can I transfer the credit from non-smartphone to smartphone and get a new smartphone? 
    And then in January get another smartphone with he original credit? 
    Can I do this without any changes to my monthly fees?  And continue with 1 smartphone and one non-smart phone on my plan?    

    Yes you can, there is a loophole to the system. Here's what you want to do. First, upgrade the basic phone to whatever smart phone you want, if it's a 4g phone you want to order 2 SIM cards, because the one that's sent with the basic number will be stuck to that number, so when you switch back the basic phone, with the original monthly charge, then you can keep unlimited data if you have it, AND have the smartphone to replace the smartphone! (Keep in mind you will extend the basic phone's contract by an additional 2 years if you do this) By the way, the reason you want to do this way instead of an alternate upgrade, AKA "transfer upgrade", is because you will lose unlimited data that way. There are three ways you can keep it. One, buy a Certified Pre-owned Device from Verizon, two, buy a phone at full-retail price, and three, buy a used phone from some other retailer or user (aka craigslist or ebay). This option falls under the "other retailer or user" because the other number "used" the phone. Good luck!

  • Transfer upgrade in Apple store?

    I wasn't able to order the 5s early Friday morning and had to wait until Saturday to put my order in. I used an upgrade from a different line. Since the phone isn't expected to ship for another month (specifically, 10/28), I was wondering if it's possible to visit an Apple store (on the off chance that they have stock) and have them transfer the upgrade for me.
    My concern is that if I go to the Apple store and get a subsidized phone with the other line's upgrade (without transferring) it might mess up the other line's plan. Would that be an issue? Is it easy to just call Verizon after I get the phone and transfer it over to my line without affecting the other phone's plan?
    Ideally, I would love for that 10/28 ship-by date to get bumped up, but at present that seems unlikely. My impression thus far has been that Apple is giving priority to stocking their stores, rather than filling orders for people who purchased the 5s through their carriers.

    I suggest it is always a good idea to do some preparation before installing a new operating system.

    Is it possible to transfer an upgrade from one line to a second line, and then have the phone that was used on the second line, be switched to the first line? If so, how would I go about doing this online?

    Yes.  The account owner should be able to log in to MyVerizon and click on "Transfer this upgrade" when they view all of the upgrades available for their account.  If they don't have that option, another way is to just order the phone normally, then activate the new phone on the line it was ordered for briefly to accept the Terms & Conditions of the new contract.  Then you can activate the old phone from that line again, which will free the new phone up to be activated on the second line.
    If you're getting a 4G phone, you'll want to call in to Customer Service before you start activating though, because the 4G SIM cards can complicate the activation process.

    I can get the Iphone 4s though Apple for $99 but it doesn't look like I can transfer an upgrade through their order process.  Is that possible or am I stuck going through Verizon and paying $50 more for the same phone?

    I am in the same boat. How it's been explained concerning iPhone pre-orders to me is that on Apple (or even on the VZW site for that matter) you pre-order using the line information that's eligible for the upgrade. Pre-ordering at the upgrade price will extend that line's  line for another 2 years. Then, once the phone comes in, you simply activate it on your line. With that said, your line will actually not have an extended contract and your line will be eligible for an upgrade same as before.
    My case: My line isn't eligible for an upgrade until 10/20. My mom's line has been eligible since 8/28.  I pre-ordered using her line's information, essentially extending her line's contract for another two years to receive the discounted subsidized pricing.  Once I get the phone, I'm activating it on my line.  However, I could utilize my upgrade on 10/20 to purchase another discounted phone (iPhone 5 or otherwise) and thereby extend my line's contract for another two years or just not utilize the upgrade at all yet.
    TL;DR: The contract and upgrade discount follows the line. The phones are entirely transferable to another line on your account. Hope that helps.

    I currently have a Moto Droid (secondary line on a family plan) which I purchased in November of 2009 on an Annual Upgrade. I resigned a 2 yr contract for the line (ending 11/2011) and paid the promotional price for the phone.  I was actually only 11.5 months into the contract but I think they let me slide   Anyway, I'm assuming my line should be eligible for another Annual Upgrade in November of this year?  I'm sort of confused because this line now has a different contract ending date than the primary line (how is that possible on a family plan, by the way?)
    The primarly line on my account is currently eligible for a NE2 upgrade (contract ends 12/10/2010). Is it possible to transfer the NE2 upgrade to the secondary line, and still have the primary line be eligible for an Annual Upgrade?  How would transferring an NE2 upgrade affect the next upgrade eligibility for this line?  What would happen if the NE2 contract was transferred to the secondary line, and then we did not renew the contract for the primary line in December (again, I do not understand how this whole same-plan-different-contract-end-dates thing works)?
    Also, if the NE2 upgrade is transferred from the primary to the secondary line, would I then be forfeiting any Annual Upgrade the secondary line might be eligible for in November?  Finally, is it possible to transfer an Annual Upgrade like you can with NE2?

    Your questions and answering each one individually is getting more and more convoluted, so let me just try and give you a better understanding of family plans, and contracts, and upgrade options.
    First, understand that each line on a family plan has it's own contract - they can have different start dates, and different ending dates, and different upgrade eligibilities.
    You can do alternate upgrades - one line is eligible to upgrade, but the phone is used on another line.  Very commonly done, but can add to the confusion!  The contract and eligibility is tied to the line, but you can use any (Verizon/compatible) phone on that line that you want.  You can swap phones without affecting the contract at all.
    The primary line on a family plan with a voice plan of $49.99 or higher can upgrade annually, sign a 2 year contract and get the 2 yr discount price, and forfeit the additional NE2 credit; it will be available 20 months into the two year contract.  If the primary does another annual upgrade, the NE2 is again forfeited until 20 months later.  The only way to use the additional NE2 credit is for the primary to wait to use the upgrade option at the 20 month point, rather than using the annual upgrade.
    Secondary lines are eligible to upgrade at the 2 yr discounted pricing 20 months into the contract (4 months before the contract end date).
    We have a family plan with 5 lines, varying contract end dates.  Two lines are currently eligible to upgrade; my son's line is eligible, but he has a new phone that he got using my husband's upgrade.  So hubby's line shows he's not eligible, but yet his phone is older and may need to be replaced soon.  He'll just use the son's upgrade.  Basically, we wait till someone NEEDS a new phone, and look to see which line(s) is/are eligible.  Sometimes it's the line that needs it, sometimes it's not.
    Log into MyVerizon as the primary account holder, click on UPGRADE - and you'll see all the lines and when their contract ends and who/which is eligible for upgrade.

  • Transfer upgrade process to iPhone, activation

    Hi there,
    I just ordered an iPhone for my sister for Christmas using an upgrade from another phone on our account. So I was wondering how I will activate the iphone on my sisters line. According to the Verizon person I talked to on the phone, I will have to first activate it on the line that was eligible for the upgrade, and then do something with the sim cards.
    I kind of suck at explaining things, so I will try this method.
    Phone Line A was eligible for upgrade.
    Phone Line B will be receiving this upgrade.
    It sounds like I will have to first activate the iPhone on Phone Line A, and then reactivate the existing phone on this line. Then I have to do something with the SIM cards...but not sure?
    Does this sound right to you?

    You would need to Activate it on the number you ordered it on. Then  go to Vzw and get a new sim. then activate it on the new number the sim card is only meant for one number so if you transfer the phone to a new number you need a new sim ( this does not apply if you change your number  of some one like keeps calling you and won't stop

    I had an iTouch - then I purchased the upgrade on iTunes. Then the iTouch developed a problem and I returned it to the store for a replacement. I think the replacement is also the "un-upgraded" version. My question - how can I transfer the upgrade I purchased to my replacement iTouch?

    If you are going to have it attached to a large monitor most of the time, I'm not sure the 17" is the best bet. The 15" is just as fast, but more portable and cheaper. If you are using it not attached to a monitor, the new 17" HD (1920 x 1200) would be a huge upgrade just in screen size.
    It is faster but not a huge amount faster unless you are running games or graphics apps that use the hardware (like Apple Aperture).
    Upgrade to new 17" from a Macbook, is it worth it?? I
    know the obvious.. screens allot bigger, other
    features.. but the true overall performance for
    everyday tasks (spreadsheets, word, net, email,
    etc..) will I notice a big lift in speed going from 2
    GH Intel Core Duo w/ 2gb ram to the new 17" MacBook
    Pro? Half the time or more it will be plugged into a
    Dell 24" widescreen monitor..

  • Will the ATT transfer upgrade option be on Apple 6 order page?

    The ATT site offers multiline accounts the ability to transfer an upgrade option from one of your lines/divices to another.  This allows for an upgrade to a line/device that is currently not eligible ... My question is, when the Apple iPhone 6/plus go on sale at midnight tonight, will Apple have this ATT option/link available for ATT customers to make the line upgrade transfer option?  Thanks

    I suspect you will need to go directly through AT&T for that.

    I bought a used copy of Final Cut Studio. You are allowed a one time license transfer when selling. My question is, can i upgrade to Studio 2 ? I believe i should be able to do it instead of buying a complete version. Can someone give me a definitive answer ?
