Transfer user account to another computer?

Currently, my wife and I connect BOTH our iPhones to the SAME iTunes Library through a single user account. We have ONE library of songs and we each drag the ones we like.
I have a new laptop and I want to transfer JUST MY info to it. The songs were easy - I just copied them from the 'iTunes Music Folder.' But I also want to transfer my whole BACKUP file so I have all associated contacts, emails settings, sms, nike+, etc.
I did a local search, but can't find any related backup files. Can someone please walk me through the best way to seamlessly move my iPhone account to another computer? thank you.

By design, the iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time. Any attempt to sync such content with a second computer will result in ALL itunes content being first erased from your phone & then replaced with the content from the second computer. This is a design feature and cannot be overridden. Because you have a new computer, your phone will be wiped of itunes content, but since you restored your library to your new computer, this will not be a problem. App data is stored in two places, on your phone & in your phone's backup. If you restore your phone from backup on your new computer, you will preserve your app data. Follow these instructions in the order specified:
1. Disable auto sync when an ipod/iphone is connected under preferences, in itunes. If using windows, this will be under the edit menu.
2. Make sure you have one contact & one event in whatever programs you use for that purpose on your computer(address Book & ical, if on a Mac, Outlook or Windows Address Book if on a PC). The entries can be fake, doesn't matter, the important point is that these programs not be empty.
3. Connect your phone, itunes running, do not sync at this point.
4. Store>Authorize this computer.
5. File>Transfer Purchases(To make sure all purchased content on your phone will be in your itunes library).
6. Right click in the device pane & select reset warnings.
7. Right click again and select backup.
8. Right click again & select restore from backup, select the backup you just made. When prompted to create another backup, decline.
9. This MUST be followed by a sync to restore your itunes content, which you select from the various tabs, You'll get a popup regarding your contacts & calendars asking to merge or replace, select merge.
You should be good to go with all of your app data restored to your phone & you're now syncing to your new computer.

  • Transfer music from one user account to another on the SAME mac?

My family (wife, son, daughter, and me) share an imac but we all have our own user accounts. Our entire itunes music library is in one user account and is getting to the point of being unmanageable.
Can I move some of my itunes library (e.g., my son's music) to another user account on the same iMac? Some songs were imported from CD and others were purchased from my Apple ID number.
It's my understanding that an ipod can only be synced with one itunes library at a time, but I thought Apple also restricted the usage of music bought from itunes to a finite number of computers. If this is true, I think I would be able to transfer a group of songs from one user account to another so long as the user accounts were on the same computer.
I was told that I could just drag the songs into a shared folder and then log into his account and drop them in iTunes.
    Some specific questions:
    1) Can I move all music files (CD and purchased) to the shared folder for dropping into his account?
2)The purchased ones were purchased under MY apple ID which I do not want to give him access to. Should I create one for him or just have him use mine and wait for my password. I would like to put an allowance on his new ID number and keep it separate from mine. Would that make a difference in the future if I wanted to use one of his songs on my iPod or in an iMovie project?
I just reinstalled my Lepoard OS X and put all my data back. I did not deauthorize anything before I did this. Did I need to? Or is even a clean install on the SAME machine ok and seen as the same authorization?
    Thanks in advance!!

You can give him copies of song files, either by using a shared folder, or by putting the copies on a USB flash drive from which he can copy them to his own iTunes library.
Any DRM-protected tracks that you have purchased from Apple can only be played if the user has authorization to the account(s) from which the tracks were purchased. Authorization requires physical access to the computer and knowledge of the password, and you can figure it from there!

  • How to transfer all songs from a user account to another

On the same Windows Vista computer, how to transfer / copy all music from one user account to another without using another computer or home sharing?
(Please also consider that the iPad will also sync with the new user account without losing any songs.)
Note: iTunes for Windows version 11.0.4.4

    Yes, that would work too.
The iPad backups will not be transferred, am I right?
Hmm, I think you are right. If I recall the backup exists in the user profile, so that would be the case.
Is it sure that the iPad will be synced with User 2 without losing any songs?
Yes, but to be safe, backup and sync the device with user 2 before deleting user 1.
You should also maintain a separate backup.

  • How do I transfer Pages from one user account to another

How do you transfer Pages from one user account to another on the same Mac?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
If you haven't modified anything, Pages is installed on /Applications. All users have access to this folder, identified as "Applications" on the Finder sidebar, so you don't have to move anything, because Pages will work on all your users.
If you have installed Pages on ~/Applications (being ~ your user folder), then you have to move Pages to /Applications. After doing this, you will be able to access to Pages on all users

  • Transfer Reports from one user account to another

    Hi,
We use oracle discoverer 4.1, due to HIPAA the dba had to create new userids for our current users and lock the old ones, how do I transfer the reports stored in database one user account to another ?
for e.g user abc123 has a report <abc.dis> stored in database he now has to use a new userid xyz123, he doesnt see <abc.dis>, how do I transfer this?
I know the work around.. to save all reports from database to a network and open in the new user account, but we don't want users to do that, is there any other way?
    Thanks,
    Latha

To avoid permission issues log into the account where the files are. Then transfer them to an external drive or a flash drive or jump drive. Then log into the account where you want them. Then copy them to the account.

  • Moving itunes account from one windows user account to another....

Hello! I really hope some one here can help!
I use one of two user accounts on my comp, my boyfriend is the "owner" and I have my own. For separate itunes accounts .... Something is messed up with my profile on this user account and an IT friend told me he thinks that I should just delete my whole profile from the OWNER one and start over, saving anything i need beforehand.
I was about to do that until I realised that my Itunes account would also be gone.
Is there any way that I can transfer my itunes account to another user account on my computer without losing everything and having to start over???
    Pllllease & thank you!!!

Well, if all of the music is in My Music\iTunes, then just copy that folder.
    If it isn't:
If it's in a shared location, such as the root of the drive, and both account are accessing it, then ignore the music, and transfer just the 'iTunes' folder within My Music.
If it's in an account specific location (like on your desktop), first consolidate it to your My Music, then transfer that folder.

  • Merge iweb sites from multiple user accounts on same computer

With the previous iweb version, my children created their own iweb sites on their own users, but all under my own .mac account. It worked great.
But now with the new "upgraded" iweb '08, that isn't allowed anymore.
So, I created a new user on our computer for all of us to use to maintain our multiple iweb accounts on.
How can I move multiple iweb sites from multiple users on the same computer into one user?

Each of the user's work in iWeb will be contained in a single file, Domain.sites2, which can be found in this location on the hard drive for each user account. You will need to copy all of these Domain.sites2 files to an external drive, or, at the very least, burn them to a disk to make them transferable from one user account to another. A flash drive also works great for this.
Once you have made all of these Domain files accessible from the new user account that you created, you will still have a formidable task ahead of you, i.e., publishing separate sites, from separate Domain.sites2 files, to the same .Mac account/directory. In other words, bringing all of these Domain files together for access by a single user account will not solve the problem. You may very well be able to solve the problem with things the way they are, but it will involve some shuffling of Site's files on the iDisk prior to publishing.
The method I'm going to give you has worked well for me. So far, here in the forums, I've read posts from (2) other users who were also successful. Conversely, I know of at least (3) other users who have been unsuccessful with this approach. I sure hope it works for you.
Open System Preferences and go to .Mac. Turn syncing off, if it is on, and leave it off.
Now, in Finder, navigate to the current Site files on your iDisk, following this path:
    Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/NameOfSiteFolder
Drag the Site folder that is named for your site, (not the directory Site folder), back one level on the iDisk, into the Web folder. This is where some run into difficulties--you may get an error message that the folder is "in use, and cannot be moved". I have never gotten this message, and am able to move my Site's folders around with no problem on the iDisk.
If you are successful moving the folder, choose one of your other accounts on your machine, launch iWeb, and Publish all to .Mac. The existing site on the server will not be deleted. Now, go back to the iDisk and move that site folder, (the one you just published), back one level, again, to the root Web directory. Publish your next site, from your next account.
When you are finished publishing sites, just move the Site folders back to their original location on the iDisk--Web/Sites/SiteFoldersHere. All sites will be accessible from a browser using the web.mac.com/username/nameofsite url.
It is important to use the Publish all to .Mac command in iWeb. A simple Publish to .Mac command will not put the correct index.html file in place on the server.
Post back and inform us of your success.
    -Mark

  • Can't transfer e-book to another computer

I'm using Windows Vista, Adobe Digital Editions v 1.5, I purchased an ebook online, and I'm trying to transfer the ebook to another computer for printing. I followed all the instructions online for transferring ebooks, and logged onto the other computer's ADE with the same account, but I keep getting the error "Document is not Licensed for this Device Type".
We've already called the customer service and they didn't provide any help.
Can anyone help please? Thank you very much in advance.

I am having a related problem. My laptop with 100 purchsed ebooks on it died.  I bought a new laptop, copied all my files from backups, downloaded Adobe Digital which would NOT recognize my email/password and therefor will not open the library.
The most important part of the library is professional texts that I need access to.
Although this must be a daily occurrence Adobe have not been able to help (shall I say.. "yet").  I tried to redownload the books from the purchase site but they also will not open.. and with all the hassle I have now exceeded download limits.
This seems the most simple of problems but I have been two weeks without the documents.
The terms of use from the download site required me to use Adobe, they charged full price for the ebooks and the books are now not usable.

  • Transfer Album Artwork to another computer?

Most of my album artwork has been retrieved automatically using the "Get Album Artwork" command in iTunes. Other album artwork has been copied from amazon.com or other sites. Where exactly does all this artwork get stored? How can I transfer album artwork to another computer? I see album artwork docs stored in 4 folders:
    1) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download
    2) C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Local
    and ALSO in:
    3) C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Download
    4) C:\Documents and Settings\MYUSERNAME\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\Album Artwork\Local
To backup/transfer to another computer, which of these 4 folders do I need? Why are there 4? How can I combine to 1 or 2? Do I simply copy folders from one computer to another? Which folder(s)? My iTunes library is on an ext hard drive, but the album artwork is on the C drive. I backup/transfer the itunes library by connecting my ext hard drive to the 2nd computer, and hit "Add Folder to Library", but don't know how to properly transfer the artwork folder(s). Thanks for the help!

    Hi Pete,
You would copy the entire iPhoto Library folder to the other computer. Put the iPhoto Library folder in the Pictures folder of the other computer (make sure there is no library with the same name in the Pictures folder. If there is rename it.
Does the other computer have the same version of iPhoto? does the other computer already have photos in the library.
What do you want to do if there is another library on the other computer?
Copy iPhoto Library folder from one Mac to another
-If the library is small enough, burn the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to CD/DVD.
Drag the iPhoto Library folder from the CD/DVD to your Pictures folder of the iMac.
-If the computers are networked, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac.
-If you have an iPod, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto Library folder to the iPod. Connect the iPod to the other computer and copy the iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac.
-If you have a firewire cable, copy the ENTIRE iPhoto LIbrary folder to the Pictures folder of the other Mac
    Things to keep in mind:
-If the usersnames are different you might have to set the permissions on the iPhoto Library folder to Read/Write for the new user. Check the "apply to enclosed items" at the bottom of the "get info" window.
-If there is another iPhoto Library folder on the other Mac, change it's name so it doesn't get replaced by the iPhoto Library folder you are copying into the Pictures folder...or....drag it to another place on your hard drive.

can i transfer pse 11 to another computer?

    Hi GederGenealogy,
A retail version of the software is good to install on 2 computers as per the End User License Agreement.
If you wish to transfer the license you need to deactivate the software first by launching the software, go to the 'help' menu and select 'Deactivate'.
You can then install the software on the new machine and use the serial number to activate it.

  • How can I move an album purchased from MY user account to another account?

I have three user accounts on my computer at home. I purchased an album through MY user account from the iTunes store for one of the other users. I figured that all I had to do was to burn those songs from my user account onto a cd then go onto the other user's account and import the songs. Problem is, it DID import the songs, but without song titles (i.e., "track 1, track 2..."). What to do?

Thanks for the prompt response. Let me share with you two other solutions that came to my attention:
    1. Call iTunes Store Customer Support and ask them to allow you to download the album again, only, THIS time, download from the right user account.
    OR,
    2. From the RIGHT user account, do a search on the album. When you find it, the songs on the album will appear individually in the search as well. Double click on each song. It will open in iTunes (if it's the default for music files) together with the song name.
