IChat File Transfer/Video Chat won't work... :(

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to get ichat to allow file transfers/video chatting on my Mac, I have a feeling that the setup through the routers that we have are not allowing it to function as it is constantly giving me errors. My set up is a Cable Modem hooked into a Netgear WGR614 v6 and then an ethernet wire running from that router to a Linksys WRT54G v8. I have the WRT54G set up with the following settings:
IP: 192.168.1.136
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Static DNS 1 and 2: Are my IP's DNS servers
Static DNS 3 is blank
Local IP address is .199 with a subnet of 255.255.255.128
I have DHCP enabled starting at .200 with 30 users
My computer is also set up statically at port .233.
The Netgear WGR614 v6 is set up with the following settings:
Get IP/DNS dynamically from ISP
DHCP Range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.51. Router is on a subnet of 255.255.255.0 the linksys is set up statically to the Netgear
SO, this brings me to my issue, I am trying to get ichat file transfer/video to work, I have followed the instructions for setting up portforwarding from portforward.com for ichat on both the netgear and the linksys. On the linksys, i set the IP address to forward to as my computers (.233)
On the netgear, i set the ip address to forward to as 192.168.1.136 (the static IP of the linksys).
Anyway, I am hoping someone can point out what I am doing wrong as I am still getting this error: An AIM error has occurred. Unable to talk directly to your buddy. I am also getting this error: An AIM service error occurred. The server message was: Serv:RequestTimeout.
My OS X firewall is off.

I am not sure I have understood your Networking here.
You say the Netgear is getting an IP (Via DHCP) from the ISP.
You go onto say it is at 192.168.1.1
It issues IP addresses from 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.51 and the Linksys has an IP outside this range at 192.168.1.136
Your computer is at 192.168.1.233
As both devices are using the 192.168.1.xxx group and doing DHCP (even with restricted groups) how does the computer know which one to connect to ?
You should be able to change the group that each device is using for it's own network (I would suggest the Netgear)
You should also turn Off DHCP (to the LAN) in the Netgear so it's own network (subnet) only goes as far as the Linksys.
Similarly in the Linksys make sure DHCP is Off or change the Mac to use Manually (Static) with DHCP.
Both devices can do UPnP found in the Administration tab in the Linksys and the WAN page of the Netgear.
Turn Off/disable all Port Forwarding in both devices.
It may also pay to copy across the Linksys and Computer the DNS server IPs from the Netgear.

Mavericks/Bonjour Messages File Transfer Fail

Last week all of our computers running mavericks suddenly stopped being able to send and accept file transfers. The older computers running 10.6.8 can transfer between each other, but not with any running 10.9.
I have tried networking two computers together using a simple switch and no wireless connection and still get the same results. I've tried new plists, restarts, etc. It seems like I've tried everything I can think of, but none of our new computers can use the file transfer in messages that we used to use constantly.
The messages connection doctor shows no problems and "full cone" on the router capabilities. The video/audio chat works as well as screen sharing.
At this point I'm just out of ideas.

I have a Snow Leopard (iChat 5) and a Leopard (iChat 4) computer.
I have done Bonjour chats between both of those and my Mavericks computer.
I can Send and Receive File (pics-in-Chats) to and from the iChat 4 machine but not to the iChat 5 one.
I have yet to find the time to check Jabber and AIM chat as well.
With jabber the file sending is on the same port as the Login (either port 5223 or port 5222)
In an AIM conversation it moves to a UDP connection on port 5190. Since iChat 6 Logins have been on port 443
Bonjour is not clear as to which port is should use, but port 5298 on UDP is most likely.
Full Cone does not mean the port(s) are open but it is more likely that they are.
If this is Bonjour over local traffic it is even less likely they are closed.

Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on all of the albums, artists, playlists that you want to sync

First suggestion would be to read your manual that came with the camea for proper cable use for transfer. The iMac has a FW800 port and also USB2.0 port. Once connected you can import them into iMove and edit them from there. Some Sony codecs may require converting.

Claire, I use a Mac w/ the latest copy of Skype and it IS possible to first play the file and then download it. Steps are available for it but it involves some technical wizardry that can be above some muggles. Then I found a post where some some VERY bright person made a small downloaded program for the Mac which once the video message has been played recently, you can run this program and download the file for safe keeping ( ALWAYS BACKUP or store it in the cloud for safety ) Kudos are deserved to user alvarop for this! http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Video-Message-Exporter-App/m-p/2351609 It worked for me to download a video message that I recently played back. Can't transfer video file

OK so I'm using the video feature on my 8700 XpressMusic for the first time, and I want to transfer videos to my PC. I'm using Mass Transfer Mode, and when I view the files on my PC screen the video I'm looking for isn't there (although all the photos are), yet I can definitely see it in the gallery on the phone. Can anyone suggest why I can't see it?

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

2, by removing it from you synced from and re-syncing. Only photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the iPad (either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it in thumbnail view)
3, the location of the photos that you synced to the iPad should be listed on the iPad's Photos tab when connected to your computer's iTunes.
4, you can copy the photos from your iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 . You should also be able to delete them from the iPad as part of the transfer process to your computer, and it's then your choice whether to add them to your sync photo list so as to copy them back to the iPad. Copying them to your computer would allow you to organise them into folders and therefore be able to sync them back into separate albums.
5, I don't use Dropbox either. There are some third-party browser apps in the iTunes App Store that allow you to download pages so that you can view them when offline e.g. Atomic Web (the whole page is saved within Atomic Web, it doesn't place a photo into the Photos app)
6, deleting content should help. If you remove an app from your iPad then you also remove the content that it's got on the iPad - so if you then decide to reinstall it back onto the iPad then you will need to manually add back any content that you want in it. None of the Apple built-in apps (including Photos) can be removed from the iPad
