Transfer Video w/i.LINK wire

Sony mini DV camera cannot transfer video with fire wire that came with a camera. From all accounts looks as if I need i.LINK wire - can any anyone tell me if it is a 4 pin to 4 pin or 4 pin to 6 pin wire?

Hi Jeff:
Welcome to the discussions! ;-0
You will need a 4 pin to 6 pin wire.

how do I find out what kind of fire wire port I have on my desktop? I want to transfer video from my camcorder.

If you have Firewire 800 it's a boxy looking port, the Firewire 400 is thinner and has a arrow looking shape, you can get a adpater.
FW800 is simply FW 400 x 2, so the adapter gives you FW 400.

  • Satellite A660 - how to transfer video from my digital camera?

How do I directly transfer video from my Panasonic digital video camera to my A660? I want to burn DVD. Camera has HDMI output and/or 3 wire (audio / video) RCA jacks.

    Hi
The camera should support other ports in order to move the files to the computer.
The mentioned ports like HDMI out and RCA can be used in order to connect the camcorder to the LCD TV but not to the notebook.
So check the camcorder again there should be an USB port (mini or micro) or firewire which would help you to export the files.

  • The best way to transfer videos between devices and mac?

I have an iphone 4s, ipad and a macbook pro - is there any way to transfer videos wirelessly betwen these platforms?
As far as I know icloud only allows photostream of photos only but nit videos. This is quite inconvenient for video users as I normally take videos using my iphone 4s and would like to edit using ipad/mac's iMovie. I suppose I could transfer videos using a wire between iphone and Mac (still a PAIN without being able to transfer wirelessly), and what about between iphone and ipad? I understand Apple might be concerned about storage and speed for video transfer via icloud, if we could selectively do the transfer and have the option to delete them from icloud after the transfer it will be very much easier for video editor like myself.
Or have I just missed something? Is there indeed a way to do so??

If you want to transfer photos and videos from the Mac to the iPhone (but not in the other direction) you can use iTunes and sync via wi-fi: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
If you want to wirelessly tranfer videos in the other direction you may want to look into a 3rd party app such as http://www.photosync-app.com Note that I have not used that app so be sure to investigate others as well.

How can I transfer video taken with my iPhone to my iPad WITHOUT using a computer or iTunes? I'm going to Europe for a month and want to use my iPhone to take pics and video, then come back to the hotel room and use my iPad to edit/store each evening. I don't want to use my iPad to take the video...too large/bulky. And I WON'T have a computer with me...I purchased the iPad to take with me so I could use the RDC to my home computer and avoid taking my computer at all. Is this possible?

here is a cheaper solution than camera kit and a lot easier if you have WIFI available.
I use the PhotoSync APP (I think its a $1.99) will transfer videos and photos over WIFI to any other IOS device or even PC/MAC. Great app since I like doing video and photos on my IPHONE and transfer to IPAD2 without synching through computer or doing cloud based storage.
You can even send photos/videos from your MAC/PC to your IOS devices that way too. Makes it so much easier.

  • IChat File Transfer/Video Chat won't work... :(

    Hi Everyone,
I am trying to get ichat to allow file transfers/video chatting on my Mac, I have a feeling that the setup through the routers that we have are not allowing it to function as it is constantly giving me errors. My set up is a Cable Modem hooked into a Netgear WGR614 v6 and then an ethernet wire running from that router to a Linksys WRT54G v8. I have the WRT54G set up with the following settings:
    IP: 192.168.1.136
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Gateway 192.168.1.1
Static DNS 1 and 2: Are my IP's DNS servers
    Static DNS 3 is blank
Local IP address is .199 with a subnet of 255.255.255.128
I have DHCP enabled starting at .200 with 30 users
My computer is also set up statically at port .233.
The Netgear WGR614 v6 is set up with the following settings:
    Get IP/DNS dynamically from ISP
DHCP Range from 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.51. Router is on a subnet of 255.255.255.0 the linksys is set up statically to the Netgear
SO, this brings me to my issue, I am trying to get ichat file transfer/video to work, I have followed the instructions for setting up portforwarding from portforward.com for ichat on both the netgear and the linksys. On the linksys, i set the IP address to forward to as my computers (.233)
On the netgear, i set the ip address to forward to as 192.168.1.136 (the static IP of the linksys).
Anyway, I am hoping someone can point out what I am doing wrong as I am still getting this error: An AIM error has occurred. Unable to talk directly to your buddy. I am also getting this error: An AIM service error occurred. The server message was: Serv:RequestTimeout.
My OS X firewall is off.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE!!

    Hi,
I am not sure I have understood your Networking here.
You say the Netgear is getting an IP (Via DHCP) from the ISP.
You go onto say it is at 192.168.1.1
It issues IP addresses from 192.168.1.2 through 192.168.1.51 and the Linksys has an IP outside this range at 192.168.1.136
    Your computer is at 192.168.1.233
As both devices are using the 192.168.1.xxx group and doing DHCP (even with restricted groups) how does the computer know which one to connect to ?
You should be able to change the group that each device is using for it's own network (I would suggest the Netgear)
You should also turn Off DHCP (to the LAN) in the Netgear so it's own network (subnet) only goes as far as the Linksys.
Similarly in the Linksys make sure DHCP is Off or change the Mac to use Manually (Static) with DHCP.
Both devices can do UPnP found in the Administration tab in the Linksys and the WAN page of the Netgear.
Turn Off/disable all Port Forwarding in both devices.
It may also pay to copy across the Linksys and Computer the DNS server IPs from the Netgear.

  • 2560 x 1600 without the Dual Link Wire

I just this second hooked up my brand new 30" monitor and it is at 2560 x 1600 and I have no dual link wire connected at all.
I can't even plug in the Firewire because my Mac Pro Tower had square Firewire plug and not the angled ones this came with.
It came on and I was like man everything looks so tiny. I went into displays and blam there it was at 2560 x 1600.
I thought the only way to get this resolution was to have the Dual Link.
Is it only the laptops that need this wire to get this 2560 x 1600 resolution?
I can fit 3 web pages fully open next to each other. I put it to 1920 and it looked way different.
I am not a new comer to these types of things but all I kept reading was how I needed the Dual Link wire but just using the single DVI wire that comes attached to the monitor it is at the 2560 x 1600.
    Someone please weigh in.
    Thanks

Well after searching and stumbling upon a Vid car with a Dual Link DVI port that could do the 2560x1600 with no Daul Link wire I decided to investigate my own card.
My Mac pro Tower is new and came with a NVIDIA GeForce GT 120.
Well this description tells the story of why I don't need the cord.
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 120
PCI Express 2.0 Video Card for 2009 Mac Pro with 512MB GDDR3 Memory, 1 Mini DisplayPort, and 1 Dual-link DVI Port
Now it makes sense. I'm dumb I guess.
It is too bad all those with the wire problems can't just kick in a few dollars and get a video card for your computer that comes this way.
Of course I don't know if that is even possible so don't kill me on that statement.
Anyone else who didn't know why I was getting the 2560x1600 that is the reason.

  • Transfer video from a non digital camcorder

Wondering if there is any way to transfer video from my Hi8 camcorder to the Mac?

Just to add to the fine advice already posted above. The best way is to use a minidv camcorder with digital pass thru feature.
Or you can use a media converter as mentioned. Canopus makes some great converters.
Sony no longer makes these but you may be able to find a sony DA1 or DA2 on ebay if you are lucky.

  • How can I transfer videos from windows pc to an iPad 2

I have iTunes on my Windows Vista PC and try several ways to transfer videos from the PC to the iPad 2 but it has been imposible, all videos have been converted to play on iPad or iPhone. What I need to do to accomplish the task that I need?

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

    Hi
I have bought my iPhone 3G yesterday. I have found out how to transfer music from iTunes however i can't transfer videos. I'm selecting the videos i want to transfer on the videos tab after i chose my iphone from the side menu and pressing apply. iTunes says that its syncing my iphone but it doesnt transfer the videos.
Lately i have found out a function on the advanced menu for movies as "create iphone or ipod version". When i used that it transfered that video to my iPhone however the sound was completely lost besides that action takes too much time(around 10 mins for a 3 min video and i have a pretty strong computer).
How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

One thing I'd recommend is that you make sure the video/audio you're trying to transfer falls within the guidelines listed in the 'Video' section here:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
What's most likely happening is that the file is not converted as such so when you try to transfer it, it's wanting to convert it but is unable to for any number of reasons.
There's software out there that might make this easier for you but I can't recommend anything specifically.

  • How do I get Image Capture to recognize my iPhone so I can transfer videos to my MacBook ?

I cannot delete my old email from my Apple Discussions Profile.
I have an iPhone that is not letting me transfer videos I take with the Camera App onto my MacBook Air.
My photos transfer fine but the videos don't transfer at all.
I have tried Image Capture too and this does not even recognize my iPhone.
I have tried different USB cables and still no luck.
Even though one workaround is emailing videos to myself from my iPhone
this is not ideal because it compresses the files - thus losing video quality - and
it is super time-consuming because I have long videos that I need to break up into smaller clips
in my emails and I have almost 200 videos in all.
I think I have iPhone 5 but I don't know how to confirm.
    Please advise.
    Many thanks

In Image Capture, a network printer / scanner will appear under "Shared". If it is hidden, a number will appear adjacent to it, representing the number of hidden devices.
If it still does not appear, try resetting the printing system: Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
After you do that you will need to add the device again according to the instructions here:
OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
Follow the instructions below Add a network printer
