Transfer Windows version of Photoshop to Mac version

Is it possible to get the key for a Mac version of Photoshop Extended(Student's and teacher version) if I already got the Windows version?
I have only downloaded it once on my PC.
If yes then how?

Hello, if you have Photoshop CC, you can also install and activate a copy on a second machine that is not the same operating system.

Why? It's already in Applications / Utilities. See if that one will run.
Once you have it running you could try, in iTunes / File / Add to Library.

Have Mac version of Photoshop CS3 need Windows version

Thought I would post here and see if anyone had a Windows version of Photoshop CS3 that they would like to trade for my Mac version. Mine is the full version with the box and everything that came with it. It was installed and activated one time for less than a month.
I switched from the Windows version to this Mac version when I thought I was going to be on the Mac full time. Now my job requires a PC only so I need to switch back and Adobe says only one switch allowed :-(
I'll pay for all shipping, I'll even throw in my previous router that I just upgraded. It's a D-Link 624 4 port router, 802.11g.

Nothing personal. But please be aware that this forum is not Craig's List, the neighborhood swap meet or other trading venue. And there is just too much software piracy for us to take the time to properly vet your offer.

Be aware that if you were to sell or trade your software privately, it's not a simple swap. You would have to properly deactivate and uninstall the software from your system, delete/destroy any copies, and provide proper paperwork to the new owner, including an Adobe letter of transfer of license, plus all original disks, etc., so that the new owner could properly register the software in his name and be entitled to all upgrades.
And be aware that its value may be an issue at this point, as Adobe will be announcing CS4 shortly. Some folks may wish to wait for CS4 rather than purchase CS3 now.
So I recommend that you simply contact Adobe customer service, explain your job situation, and request a crossgrade (essentially a platform swap). The cost is minimal and should not be a hassle for you.

but i think your license is dual platform. download the mac version and see if your serial number will activate. if not, at least, you'll have the 30 day trial to use while waiting for your platform swap.

All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC. You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop. You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines. You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.

I purchased the full version of elements 10, downloaded the windows version on a laptop and now want to download to my mac - OS X. I wasn't given any options at the download and it appears to say that I need a windows platform to open. What is the method to get to a mac version?

Your suggestion solved my problem. I originally bought Elements 10 with
multiple platforms and loaded it on a pc laptop. At your suggestion, I
downloaded the trial version of Elements 10 on my mac, put in my serial
number, and it seems to be working. No more notices about this being a
trial and paying for the version.
I followed another suggestion first - to ask for a platform swap. Adobe's
response was to buy the software again. Here is a clip from their email:
This email is in regard to your request for platform swap. We checked the
serial number provided you and notice that it is for Photoshop Elements
10. Since the serial number is for multiple platform, we request you to
contact our phone support to purchase only the media for the Mac version by
paying extra. You can contact our phone support at 800-833-6687.
Then they sent another email about how to return the product.
I might have been able to call and work things out, but it seemed difficult.

Photoshop Elements 4 - Mac versus Windows versions

I downloaded a trial of PE4 onto my Windows machine at work and found it really impressive - great interface, easy to navigate and some great features. On the back of this I bought the Mac version by download, but have found that it is different in several areas, with much poorer navigation and other bits 'missing' such as the pan and zoom effects in slideshow mode.
Has anyone else found similar or am I just not looking in the right places?
I have to say, good programme that it is, I'm dissapointed with it compared to the Windows version. Performance wise I'm happy enough though. It's certainly as fast as the Windows one.

Yes, in many ways the Mac version is superior to the Windows version. In PE 4, for example, you get Bridge (as you would with full PS) as opposed to the Organizer, which is not really any better than iphoto. As suzuken said, Adobe assumes that with iphoto you wouldn't want Organizer too. I myself hate being forced to use the organizer in Windows.
For instance, on the mac you can create a contact sheet and save it, while in the Organizer, you have to print your contact sheet right away and recreate it again next time. It's true the mac version only has the simple pdf slideshow, but iphoto makes slideshows at least as competently as Organizer (and doesn't force you to output WMV files).
As for Universal--each version of PE is based on the current version of PS. According to Bruce Chizen, Adobe's CEO, there won't be a universal version of PS until PS CS3, due in Q2 of 2007, so it will be after that before there's a universal version of PE.

Editing RAW files processed in iPhoto in the Windows version of Photoshop?

Although a fairly competent photographer I am new to digital image making/processing. Happily a professional photographer friend with a great deal of expertise in the digital area has offered to help me make some 13x19" prints I need for a job I'm completing. My friend as a very sophisticated facility for processing images and making prints so I pretty excited to have this opportunity.
Trouble is he uses a Windows version of Photoshop and has no experience with iPhoto, or for that matter Mac stuff in general.
My question is that I have some images shot RAW in 8 Megapixle Olympus E-300 and tuned up a bit in iPhoto 6. As I understand it iPhoto first converts RAW images into jpeg before processing and then outputs the edited images in that format. My friend, on the other hand, prefers to work with TIFF files.
How should I copy both the RAW and TIFF format images I have in iPhoto to a CD that will allow me to transfer the images I wish to print to my friends Window machine for editing in Photoshop?

I suggest that you export the photos with kind = original which will give your your unedited RAW files - if you want the edited versions export with kind = TIFF if you want TIFF copies of the edited versions
Export these to a desktop folder and then burn that folder to a CD to take on your adventure

I thought I was ordering a Mac version of Photoshop Elements. In fact it was a Windows version. I have been sitting with a stupid chat window that gives an automated response for over 4 hours trying to get this resolved all because the person I talked to on the phone said this was the "Fastest way to resolve the issue. All I can say is if this is how you treat customers then I will without hesitation take my money in the future and go elsewhere. Something that should have been resolved over the phone in less than ten minutes is now become a total waste of my day,.

You cant upload songs from your ipod. I have a laptop and a computer, and i like to have the same music on both computers, so i bought an mass capacity external drive and just transfer songs from one computer to another.
If you dont want to spend money on an external drive, depending on the amount of songs, wou could make an mp3 cd. I dont have a Mac so i dont know if this would work. MP3 Cds allow you to hold a lot more spongs than a WAV cd. You could burn all the songs to a cd in mp3 format and then burn the songs on that cd to the new computer.

If your copy of PS was for Win, your installation disk is not compatible with Mac. You can't use a Win serial number on Mac either. You would need to contact Adobe Customer Care and request a cross grade. Depending on which version you own, this may no longer be possible. I believe CS6 still qualifies for cross grades though.
