Transfering Amazon songs to new vista computer

I was successfully able to transfer all my music from my XP computer to my Vista computer using a copy over my home network. However, I have the ! next to all the mp3 that I downloaded from Amazon's store. Any ideas on how to find these songs on my new computer?
Thank you!

Well, if you copied the files yourself, then the MP3s should be located... wherever you copied them to. If you set iTunes to make copies of them for its Library, then they will be stored in the same hierarchy as all other music.

  • Now that I have a new vista computer my labtop wont connect to internet

I just got a new HP computer with Vista on it. At first I was able to get internet connection on my labtop, now I cannot and if I leave my WRT54 G  Version 6  wireless router  plugged in I cant access the internet  on my computer as well. when it is plugged in it shows the reception on my labtop and even connects but the internet does not work I cannot view any pages.  I put in the startup disk it came with but it wont install all the way and I tried to download firmware but it wont open in PDF as a BIN file.  I think this is because of the vista. I have reseted the router and the modem but nothing works now. at first if I reseted them i would get internet access but now I cannot.  I would gladly appreciate any advice on how to solve the problem.
                                      Thank You

The .bin file is the firmware.  When you access your router and go to flash the firmware to direct it to where ever that .bin file then flash it.  I am guessing you have a cable modem?  Try pluging into the modem with a cat5e cable and see if you can get online.  If you can then plug the router back in then plug you pc in and rreconfigure your SSID/security/password  and the rest of the settings you need.  Then unplug you pc and try connecting with the wireless.

  • I tried transferring my songs from an old computer to a new one.

I transfered the files and downloaded the latest edition of itunes. Here are the problems:
    1. I do not have any playlists, or any other information.  Is there another file I should transfer.
    2. When I put a disc burned on the old computer in the new computer, it says only track 1, 2, etc. In the old computer it showed the song titles
    3.  I ended up with around 5000 duplicates. I deleted them from itunes and said put in the recycle bin (and emptied it).  However, I am still showing thousands of duplicates when I see the files from another media player.  I am affraid to delete the duplicates, because it may be the one that itunes is using. Is there any way to group the files that are in itunes together, so I can delete the rest?
    4. any other tips on what to do to keep my files straight would be appreciated.
Thank you for your help.  Even if you can answer only one, I will appreciate it.
    Bob

    1. You should transfer the entire iTunes folder, in particular the file iTunes Library.itl which is the database that records playlists, ratings, date added and everything else that isn't stored in the tags.
    2. When you burn a CD with iTunes it will probably add the track information into the local CDDB cache. It may well be possible to transfer that data to the new computer but it's not something I've ever tried.
    3. Add all the files into iTunes, then delete the known duplicates from iTunes and from the hard drive. My script DeDuper can take some of the effort & guesswork out of that task.

  • Replacing computers transferring ALL songs to new computer

How do you transfer all downloaded itunes songs and songs imported from CDs from an old computer to a new computer?

Easiest way would be to turn on file sharing after connecting the old & new PCs together.
Other ways are outlined in this article

  • Transferring Ipod songs to new computer

    Hi All,
I looked at the instructions to transfer my ipod songs onto my new computer and while they were crazy long, I think I could have gotten through it. One problem, I don't have my old computer.
Is there anyway to transfer the songs on my ipod, other than my purchased songs, onto my new computer?
The thought of digging all my cd's back out and loading them into this computer isn't my idea of fun.
    Thanks for any help!

  • Transferring purchased songs to new computer

I'm in the process of saving all the information I have stored on my current computer because I'm set to receive the new iMac within a few days. I would like to transfer all my purchased music (from iTunes Music Store) to the new computer -- is it best to burn audio CDs and re-import in the new computer? Is there a way to transfer one's entire iTunes library to a new computer?

BookCase, there are several ways this can be done. If you are going to burn, you need to burn as data CD's not audio as data CD's will hold much more content. You can back everything up to an EHD, plug in the EHD to the new G5 & drag the whole folder back into iTunes. The EHD is what I wanted to do when I moved from a PC to a Mac 3 weeks ago as I had backed my whole library up to an EHD for over six months. It didn't work because I had formatted the EHD where the Mac couldn't read it. The 3rd option which is what I ended up doing is a nice little 3rd party app, iPodRip. It worked like a charm, opened it, attached the iPod, clicked on recover, & BAM, 13GB library was transferred into the new Mac. The only thing I had to do was drag & drop my playlists from iPodRip into iTunes. If your interested in iPodRip, check on Versiontracker.com. Hope this helps!

  • Setting up Airport express with new Vista Computer?

I just bought a new computer with microsoft Vista. I have a netgear wireless router using WPA protection. I want to hook up an airport express as a client in another room where my stereo is. I had this working on my old XP computer but don't remember how I set it up because none of the discussions in the manual look anything like what I had. Does anyone know how to set this up?

Got it!!!! thanks to David NYC and tesserax. For other peoples benefit, change steps 1-5 on the above document procedure for Airport Admin Utility to the following:
    1. Perform factory reset (situational)
    2. Attach Airport Express via Ethernet to router.
    3. Invoke your router software and view connected devices.
    4. Identify Airport Express device id. It will be something like (192.168.1.3). You can tell which id is the airport express by looking for its MACD id on the list and comparing to the id printed on the Airport Express unit.
    5. Open Airport Admin Utility.
    6. Click Other.....
    7. Enter the device id from #4 and password (this will be "public" if you reset to factory in step 1.)
    8. Change settings to wireless (steps 6-13 of existing procedure)
    Thanks to all who helped.

  • New Vista Computer

Have copied all the itunes folders and files to my new computer running the latest patched version of itunes. Put in the public microsoft folder for sharing across my home network to other machine. Only see the few songs in my library that the new machine came with. New computer is authorised, and I have set pointers to the location of the iTunes files/folders. Tried <add folders> but that always fails after a few minutes. Can I either get my old library index from my ex.XP machine to be read or build a new index somehow? Don't see why this is so difficult. Can see the library in WMP without any trouble. Help pls!

After reading some of the other information exchanges, I tried importing the itunes .xml library file. Seemed to start importing but after several minutes stopped, with the normal "itunes has a problem message". Rebooted. Tried again, but alas same problem after a few minutes

  • After transferring all songs to new MBP, songs stop short in iTunes

I have a strange situation here. I bought my wife a new MBP 13" recently and started having a problem with song playback in iTunes. I copied all the songs in her iTunes library from her old MacBook to the new MBP. (The new MBP is running Lion 10.7.2, btw). All the artists and songs show up in iTunes on the new Mac. That's good.
However, on the new MBP in iTunes (v10.5.2), many songs will play and then the audio will stop short of the end of the track. For example, using one song as a test, I picked a track that is 4:19 long. iTunes will play about 4 minutes, then the audio will end abrubtly with about :30 left. This doesn't happen on her old MacBook, running the same version of iTunes, and playing the same track.
Both versions of iTunes indicate the track duration is 4:19. I've tested the same song on both Macs to confirm this ONLY happens on her new MBP. And when she transferred the test song to her iPod Touch, the song also ends abruptly before its 4:19 length.
I've now copied her library from her old Mac to the new one a 2nd time, and still get the same issue. Any ideas peeps?

I'm having this issue also, it's really annoying. I delete and download from "purchases" in the store but then another will pop up.. does it on my phone and shuffles as well as in Itunes. I talked to apple and they gave me a 5 song credit but no way to fix the problem.  Going to have to hit them again.
I thought I migh have had a virus or a hacker somewhere so I erased my drive(s) and my phone and started from scratch, not even from a back up and re installed everything fresh.. still happening so it's definitly Itunes.

  • Moving itunes to new Vista Computer

I have a new computer that uses Windows Vista. I want to move my itunes from an old windows 2000 computer to the new one. Under itunes help it says to back up your old computer itunes and restore to the new computer. Since I have a Vista system it does not recognize the cds that I have burned to restore. Does any one have any suggestions on how to get to the new computer. Thanks

    Fo you have an iPod?
If yes enable disk use (you can do that when you connect it to iTunes) and that way you can use it as a removable drive and just copy paste the music to the iPod

  • Transferring from old to new iMac computer

I am buying a new iMac to replace my 4 year old iMac. I want  want to transfer everything from my old iMac to the new one.
My question is which transfer method is best, Target disk or Time Machine?
Am not sure of exactly what happens when I connect the TM to the new computer & if this will download everything including apps.
Looking for pros & cons of each method before I start.

    Bob,
Please click the link below for a Time Machine tutorial:
    http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#timemachinebasics
Time Machine works quite well however as with any system it should be checked from time to time to guarantee everything is still working OK. Kind of like checking the oil on your car or double checking the front door is locked at night.
If you want to learn more about TM then I would also recommend looking over these TM FAQ's put together by Pondini.

  • New Vista computer and WRT610N Router

Just changed the desktop computer on my home network to a Vista 64 bit system. In order to access the router's web based utility do I need to run the router setup process? If so, will this overwrite my existing router settings? Is there a file I need to copy from my old machine that will save my existing router settings so that I can update the settings after running the setup process?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well, in that case, it appears as though your router has been modified at some time in the past (or at least the DHCP scope has.)
Try opening up a command prompt and typing in IPCONFIG on your PC.  You should get something that looks like this.....
Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 3:
      Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : figga
       IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 172.29.154.112
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 172.29.154.1
If you have an IP address that starts with 168.X then you didn't get an IP address from the DHCP server on the Router.  Anyway, if you did get an IP address, try to access the Router via the IP address shown as the Default Gateway  (in my case that would be 172.29.154.1)  If you still can't get in, try prefacing the ip address with HTTPS://172.29.154.1  on the off chance that you  selected the option to only allow secure connections.  If this doesn't work, you may have to hit the reset button on the back of the gateway and start all over.
    Good Luck

  • Tungsten T5 and New Vista Computer

Okay--I believe I've tried everything--4.1 and 6.2--my computer recognizes something has been plugged in--but keeps calling it Palm One (in device manager and it has a yellow caution triangle with an exclamation point in it)--which it isn't it's a TungstenT5--I still cannot get a hotsync to happen and I can't understand half of what the heck everyone has written on this subject before...someone please, please tell me in clear language what my best bet would be to get things working.  I have been working on computers since the mid-80s, many programs, many computers--both MACs and PCs-- but this has got me baffled.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Transferring playlists to a new mac computer

I have a new mac and I want to transfer all my playlists off my old mac to a new mac. I dont keep my music files in the itunes music folder and they are in many different locations on my old computer. I've copied all my music files onto my new computer, however as it is setup a little differently, they are obviously in different locations. When I import the library file from my old itunes to the new one it says "some of the files from the playlists can not be imported because they cannot be found"
So now and currently itunes has added all my playlists names in the playlist column but not a single track within these playlists? I was assuming itunes would copy the tracks into the playlists even if it wasn't aware of where the files may be on my computer and then I could double click on a track and search for the file as you do if it is missing and then itunes would automatically search the computer and find the file and then further update all the other files as it does on my old mac.
I have 100s of gigs of music and many playlists as I use itunes to maintain my dj playlists for other programs and many files are at wav/aiff/flac quality so it isnt really an option to copy to my ipod or whatever that I've read in some places.
Have you any ideas of how best to copy my playlists to the new computer?

Sorted it out. Had to add all the music files on the new computer into itunes first and then import the library file.
feel free to delete this, i just left it up incase anyone else has the issue
