Transfering Audible files to Creative Labs Muvo

How do I use iTunes (or my iMac in general) to transfer Audible files to my device. I have a Creative Labs Muvo MP3 player that plays Audible. Using Windows the Audible files transfer and play fine but I cannot get iTunes to recognize the device -- the iMac only mounts it as a mass storage device. When I manually copy the Audible file from the iMac to the Muvo, it transfers it as an .aa file and apparently the device needs it converted to a .asf file. MP3 files copy and play fine.

Well, the folks at Apple beg to differ....
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93548.
It specifically lists a whole set of Creative products, including the MuVo, that are compatible with iTunes.
Though I am having the exact same problem, where I can't get it to recognize the device.
I had the one I got from Audible, but never used, and wanted to set it up for my kid.
Not sure if perhaps the Audible player was set up by default for PC use...not sure.
Will look through the threads more.

Has anyone bought this one, do you like it's Is it a good price?

For only the g model, not such a good price. I see competing g devices for about $20.00. I have the 2g Muvo00. I like it- especially uses AAA batteries- never worry about it dying unexpectedly. I cut a slit in my workout shoes and keep a spare AAA there.

What's the story with this player? This is a brand new model. Futureshop has it at $09. I just bought the MuVo 52MB TX FM for $59 a few weeks ago. This player loks the same but $50 cheaper. I'm thinking of trading in the TX FM (30 days to try at futureshop) and pick up this one instead. I don't see much info on it. Is it as good as the TX FM?Message Edited by Brewskie9 on 03-29-2005 09:05 PM

argh! well knowing how creative seems to be trying to follow in apple's footsteps these days instead of blazing their own path, i'd say it's a safe bet it's an awful lot like the shuffle......hmmm, MIX...SHUFFLE...sounds similar to me. look for the GB model soon, and i'll venture to say it'll cost you about $50 or so. bleh!

  • Creative Labs MuVo Micro N200

I would like to know if the hissing sound while the backlight is on has indeed been rectified! I love my friends player, however; I personally find the hissing sound to annoying to warrant a purchase.
I was wondering what the companies statis is inregards to this.
I do find the hush-hush on the situation to leave me skeptical of the company. However I have had previous Creative products and hope that this is not the case.

I have the N200 gig. I only notice backlight noise when tuned to a very weak FM station. I don't hear it at all when playing MP3s. I am using Sennheiser MX400 earbuds with it. The backlight can easily be turned off. There is a choice of backlight times, and one choice is off.

  • Creative Nomad Muvo stopped working - I think I tried everything... any ide

    Hello,
I received a Creative Labs MuVo 28MB MP3 player as a gift in May of last year. I used it once or twice and it worked fine, then put it aside. I picked it up again the other day, formatted it clean using the formatting software (old drivers) and started using it again. It worked fine until at one point it froze. I could not turn it off with the power button so I pulled the memory stick out of the battery pack. The MP3 player would not turn on again after that. I took it to my computer at work (different computer) to fix the dri've and was able to get the data off first, by installing it as a flash dri've, but after I transferred the data I installed the drivers and attempted to format the flash dri've. After this the dri've would not respond. I can plug in the dri've, either in standard or recovery mode and the computer will find it, but I cannot access the dri've through any means. I don't think the dri've itself is broken, I think that there is something corrupted on it that needs to be cleaned out. Unfortunately I have found no way to reset the dri've.
I have tried each of the methods outlined below on (3) different computers, both with USB . and 2.0 slots. I have tried:-The original drivers, the newest drivers, and the creative removable mass storage drivers-Formatting under windows with the newest drivers (dri've does not respond at all)-Formatting using the old drivers and the formatting utility (the program opens under the media recovery tab and the only thing not greyed out is "cancel")-Repartitioning the dri've under Control Panel/Administrati've Tools/Computer Management (the dri've does not show up, even though it appears up in My Computer)-Formatting the dri've using the Killdisk utility (it finds the dri've but says dri've not ready)-Installing the original firmware (this is interesting - I can plug the dri've in, holding down the play button, and nothing happens. When I run the firmware utility the computer finds the dri've, installs it as a player recovery device, but then the firmware utility tells me that the dri've is not in player recovery mode and to try again. If I try again it gives me the same message.)-Installing the updated firmware (It begins scanning, suddenly windows installs the dri've as a mass storage device [with Creative Muvo as a component] but after 3 minutes of scanning the utility says that there are no USB devices connected.)-Using a 3rd party flash dri've software tool (it finds the dri've, but when I go to format it it says that the dri've contains no media).
I am not sure what to do at this point, but I still believe this thing can be salvaged, if only there was a way to access it. Please tell me any tricks you know.
    thank you,-Aaron

I am having the EXACT same problem as you are!? It is SOOO frustrating!? I wish I could help you, but I wanted you to know that you're not the only one with the same problem.

  • An error has occurred while transferring this file - MuVo v

Hi, I recently purchased a MuVo v00, and am in the process of putting some music on it. I put a number of songs on it yesterday, and after noticing it still had almost 300 megs free, I decided to add some more. However it will now not allow the addition of ANY songs. Any I try to add, it fails to do so, giving me a "an error has occurred while transferring this file" message. Even when I attempt to rip directly from my cds to the device, it gives me this error.
I've checked that all my software is up-to-date (using the automated update feature with the software I was provided)
I would appreciate any help with this.

I have exactly the same problem with my MuVo? .5 GB!
I know that i had once about .GB of mp3s stored on it, however, I deleted all of them to upload a different mp3 collection. Now when I upload files to the MuVo, it stops when I have transfered about 450 MB. However, Windows-Explorer and Creative Media Source both say that there are still 900 and a few MB left, but when i try to copy a file - again "no space left on device".
    I tried to:
delete all files, try transfer again - same effect
    run scandisk - no change
format the player from the rescue menu - no change (whatever this does, this is not a real format, more a quickformat)
updated to the latest firmware - still no change!
I'm kinda really pissed now, I spent quite some time googling, but didn't find anyone else with that problem.
So .. where went that "space"? Would it be usefull to re-format the player using the Windows format tool, like suggested in that thread (with the settings from that thread):
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=dap&message.id=400
I started to do that, but since it was *very* slow and the disk was seeking a lot (battery eaten up after about 20 mins!) I stopped the process.
Maybe I will try that afain tomorrow, but *somehow* this can't be the real solution. Whatever the MuVo does here seems not to be standard behaviour, since scandisk reports the dri've to be OK. Would it be possible to re-partition the MuVo? I guess thats not a good idea, since I believe that the firmware is somewhere on the disk, too.

  • Help! Audible files not showing up on my ZEN!

    - >I hope this isn't a repeat question, but I've been through about 3 pages of this thread and haven't found it. I need help with .aa (Audible) files. They're on the MP3 (Zen), because I can see them with the Zen Media Explorer, but they don't show up anywhere on my Zen. Plus, it's difficult to load them in the first place. The Zen usually freezes up. I think that last part may be the fault of my p.o.c. computer, but I'm not sure. Please help! I own about 20 Audio books, and I WANT to listen to them! I tried contacting both Audible & Creative, and just got the run-around. I've been send a link to something from microsoft, but it's a dead link. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am going to make a couple assumptions:
. you have Audible files from Audible.com (as opposed to generic audiobooks from something like NetLibrary)
    2. you have an account with Audible.com (you don't have to continue to pay to keep your account)
    3. you are familiar with Audible Manager software
There is no problem at all using Audible Manager software for Audible content and other software to sync the rest of your stuff. I do this.
If you sync your books with Audible Manager, you are going to have to make your new player an authorized player on that computer in Audible Manager. You have a limit to how many players you can have, and also how many per computer. You might have to "bump" an older player (the "Burn CD" option counts as a player)
Your Audible content will sync after you sign in and "authorize" your new player. It will go into the "Music" section. You find it by looking for the author, title, OR (easiest in my opinion) the Audiobook genre. Let us know here how this worked out.

  • Creative Labs Zen

    I just purchased the C 2GB.
This is in the list of supported player in
    http://www.oclc.org/audiobooks/techspecs/devices.htm.
I am using WMP, latest firmware .2.03.
I have downloaded audio books from Netlibrary (protected wav files).
I can open the files in WMP and real player but once I tried to copy the files (sync) to Zen player using WMP and realplayer or just right click copy to Zen, I get an unsupported file type. Same when using the Creative Suite.
I tried looking for others who may have the problem but it seems like noone has the same problem.
    MP3 Audio books sync/copied OK.
Any more ideas? (I have a Cowon D2 - synced OK - but it isn't mine)
Please help...or I might just have to return this.

I don't think I have ever seen a DRM WAV file on NetLibrary. I have only seen WMA or MP3 files. Contact them & ask if the file is supposed to be WAV or WMA. Also check that the clock on your player has the correct time & date.

  • I have crappy internet service... Can touch apps transfer files without creative cloud?

I live and work mostly from home which is in a rural area with crappy Internet service.  I have a capped plan.  All I'm looking to do is present to clients and do on the fly mockups.  I don't need the cloud.  Will it transfer sans cloud, the old fashioned way, with a cable?

    Hey creatorzkid,
I wasn't sure how you typically present to clients, in person, from a tablet, or from your home computer etc. The touch apps do have options for saving locally to the tablet itself (native tablet Photo Gallery) or sending a project via email. The options vary from app to app also. The Creative Cloud is the best way if you are planning on starting on the tablet and finishing on the desktop though. Some of the Adobe desktop programs (Photoshop CS5 or Illustrator CS5, etc.)  have a plug-ins which allow you to import the tablet files directly into them for continued editing, something like this
    http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-1336
The non-Creative Cloud workflows are designed around transferring the files in a more universal viewable format for sending or viewing by others, namely Jpeg.
    Hope that helps,
    -Dave

  • XTRA - Audible file causes "Playback Error" or wo

I am using the player in Car Mode so it shuts down automatically when I turn off the car. Last week I had played through about 4 hours into the 8 hour Audible file. I got in my car yesterday and it wouldn't play the file. It showed the time as --:--:-- and the HD stopped spinning.
I tried going forward and backward and neither worked.
I tried switching to another track, but it would not stop attempting to play the Audible file.
Using the recovery menu, I selected "Clean Up". This allowed me to play other files, including other Audible files, but it would still hang when attempting to play that specific file.
Today, I removed that file from my Zen and re-transferred it using the Audible Manager.
Now when I attempt to play that file it plays the "This is Audible" part, about 2 seconds, and then shows the "Playback Error" message.
I tried skipping forward using the Go To Section function and it hard crashed.
Is there something I can do to be able to play this file?
Is this an indication that something is wrong with my Xtra?
    Thanks,
    Altair

Does it happen only to that particular file only? If it does, then it's most likely a problem with your file rather than the player.

  • Audible file starts at beginning when Zen XTRA 40gb is not powered on after about 24

I don't know if this is the case for everyone, but my Zen XTRA, if it is not powered on for more than 24 hours, it seems the memory is reset and does a cold boot from the Creative logo screen, and when I play my Audible file, instead of playing from where it left off before the power off, it plays from the beginning. If I don't bookmark before I power off, and don't use my player for over 24hours, I have to manually forward to where I last left off in my audible program.
It's kind of an annoyance. I wonder if it's only my player, or if other players are having the same problem.
    Deli'verator

Just so you know, I have the same problem with my Zen Xtra and found your post looking for a solution. Yes, it's a pain, and I wish I had an answer. If you find a fix (the bookmark workaround seems reasonable in the short term), please post it here. I'll do the same. Good luck.

  • Creative Labs SoundBlaster PCI128 sound-card software prob

Blast it all! Where can I find the necessary software to make my Creative Labs PCI28 sound card work? (I hope that "Blast it all!" doesn't offend... )
    The background
I bought a used PC from a PC-idiot (a PC-idiot being a PC user who chucks out floppy-disk and CD-ROM software integral to the PC ? I will hazard a guess that there are a lot of these types out there!), and what's worse, the idiot had "ripped out" much of the installed software rather than uninstalling it properly, with the result that the PC ran very unstably, requiring a lengthy start-up procedure in order to compensate for the ripped-out files (start-up often crashed and had to be restarted). In the end I had to run fdisk and rebuild the software system. I took the trouble to save the installed Creative program under Program Files, not that this could be inserted into C:\Program Files of course, but in order to know what I should see when I eventually found the proper software and got it installed. But finding the proper software has proven to be a hard nut to crack, which is why I bring the problem up here...
My PC has two Creative Labs cards, a SoundBlaster PCI28 card (CT4700) and a PC-DVD Encore Dxr-3 card (CT7240). I found software for both (the latter only with the help of Creative Labs' technical staff) on Creative Labs' download site, but the driver application that eventually got my PCI28 card to work (some wouldn't even do that much) has snags to it, with the result that my sound card doesn't work properly. The problem is that the CL software download was only an <I>update</I>, and was also devoid of waveset files. The MIDI wavesets cannot load, so this parameter is missing from the installed sound mixer (this problem is well-known and is in fact listed in CL's Knowledgebase under the title "Error ? Can not load MIDI Wavesets, MIDI Playback has been disabled").
Unfortunately the "fix" suggested there subsumes that the user has access to the original sofware medium (floppy or CD-ROM) so that the complete program can be reinstalled. Which software I don't have, thanks to the PC-idiot from whom I bought this used PC (actually I bought it from his son). The driver-file download that works with the CT4700 (this is the only one that I found that could even come close to working), a certain <B>e28up9x.exe</B>, is only an update, as I said above, and although it is touted as a "stand-alone" application that works with the CT4700, <I>as an update, it is no substitute for the original program itself (it won't stand on its own).</I> What I need ? and cannot find ? is the original program itself.
To the matter at hand, then
In the hope that somebody out there (CL staff are more than welcome to participate!) might recognize the animal in question and can therefore point me to a relevant download, I list here the Creative folder that was installed under C:\Program Files on my harddisk before I formattted it (I will try to list the contents of this folder so that it reflects the actual hierarchy ? for example, all folders listed under a plus sign are subfolders to the main folder (or subfolder) in question):
    CREATIVE
    + CTsnd
Bitmap (contains a .bmp and a .txt file)
DOSdri've (contains a lot of exe files, most beginning with "ap": apconfig, apinit, -legacy,
    -load, -mixer, -test)
Help (full of ? what else? - help files)
Media (full of MS Media Player files ending in ".mid")
+ Program (the meat and potatoes full of exe files, a handful of which begin with "ct"
and end with "32" (before the ".exe" suffix): ctcd32.exe, ctmidi32.exe,
    ctwav32.exe, ctwave32.exe, remote32.exe, sndole32.exe, as well as some
dll files, all ending in "32.dll"
    Plugins (three dll files)
+ Product Registration (contains only the subfolder English)
    English (empty)
Share DLL (contains only one file: ctres32.dll)

Too <i>much</i> bass? I always end up turning mine up.
But anyway, to do this you'll want to do a little equalisation. Make sure you've got the full application suite for Vista (ie: not just the audio console on Creative's site):
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=0493
And then go to the equaliser in the main Creative control console. You'll eventually find something like this:
    [img"]http://img243.imageshack.us/img243/2720/equalizer2gk.png">
What this does is allow you to adjust the volume of specific frequencies in the music: the slider on the left adjusts the deepest frequency, and the slider on the right adjusts the highest.
The best way to do general equalisation is to do it gradually. Since you want to take out the bass a little, what you'll want to do is drag the left-most slider down to something like -5dB. Then, drag the one to the right of that down to about -4dB, then the next one to -3dB, etc. Once you hit 0dB you should be at roughly the middle of the equalizer (mid-tone frequencies).
If this sounds confusing, just drag some of the sliders up and down a bunch while music is playing and you'll immediately see what's happening.
Although there is also a bass and treble thing in Windows and such, all these do is adjust about fi've sliders at once. They can be pretty useful, but they're basically just watered-down versions of a proper equaliser. I believe the Creative software's bass/treble options also are unavailable in game mode.
Note that you can also bring out the higher frequencies by doing the same thing over on the other side; this will make your sound a lot crisper, and might even negate the need to lower the bass since you'll be able to hear that higher detail without turning the volume up so much.
Although there're endless possibilities with equalisation (EQ), the best rule of thumb for general use is to make sure the centre is at 0dB, and then adjust gradually outwards from there.

  • Trying To Install Creative Labs DigiCam Model# PD1120 To A PC W/Vista

    Hello,
After installing the software for my Creative Labs DigiCam on my new Windows Vista OS PC I recieved (& continue to receive) a message saying "No application registered for this event". Result from a "solve this problem" search says I need to install CTDrvins.exe.A Google search for "CTDrvins.exe has not produced any satisfactory results.
Am I going to be able to use this Creative Labs DigiCam w/ my Windows Vista OS PC It worked fine on my old PC which ran w/Windows98. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

you get that message because acrobat 8 was made before win 7 existed.  it's not going to correctly identify your os.
in any case, go here and fix the dll problem, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-file-adobepdf-dll-needed.html

  • WHY is Creative Labs so backwa

Have used Creative Labs products since the original Soundblaster but am really becoming frustrated with the lack of decent software support their products have. If you misplace your original install disk you cannot use their products (or so it appears). Creative Labs is the ONLY hardware vender that I am aware of that only offers driver "UPDATES", no core drivers, for their "industry standard" soundcards. This is totally unsat and will only make me and, I am sure many others think about alternati'ves when it comes to their next sound card purchase. I would really like an official response to this post as to why no full driver is available for download making my Audigy2 soundcard a waste of powersupply energy in my computer.

    Skoop,
I wasn't being tough or talking down to them, what I was doing was stating the facts of the situation. They had misread the description of "update" as meaning that it wasn't stand alone, and I was correcting the error. I also told them the exact file name of the stand alone driver that they would want (that would be the useful information that might help). The bluntness of my post is meant to help prevent the possible misinformation that can come from these types of posts (soon it becomes a "fact" that there are no stand alone drivers, which of course there are).
I will, in fact, dispute the "fact" that Creative sucks. In my experience as a both a customer and an employee of Creative I have personally installed and configured literally hundreds of our sound cards. In this I can honestly say that the vast majority have been simple installs and have worked exactly as they are supposed to. On the ones that experienced difficulty, most of the time it was a case of a hardware conflict or incompatibility (usually solved with a firmware, bios, or driver update for the conflicting hardware or the card). On the rest, it was a case of bad hardware (be it soundcard or motherboard) which is also easily fixed (be it with our warranty service or with the other company's).
I speak with relati'vely new computer users everyday and most of them find our cards to be easy to configure for basic uses. The areas where there can be confusion tends to be the more advanced features which just require the user make themselves more familiar with the terms used and what is being done. For this, we offer our knowledgebase and the mass knowledge of forum community.

  • ID tags that Creative Labs uses doesn't seem to be the normal ID T

I'm sure that many already realize that what you see and what changes you make in Creative MediaSource do not translate to the ID Tags on the files themselves, therefore when you utilize ITunes or some other system, the Creative labs tags do not follow. This is particularly frustrating for people like me that make changes to Genre.
The question i have, has anyone found a way to translate the Tag information from Creative Media Source to the ID tag on the files themselves? I've tried one or two to no avail.

Basically, anytime you make a change to the Track Information in Creative Media Source or Nomad Explorer, (the album title, the artist, the genre, etc), it does not update the ID tags of any form so that the mp3 or wma files themselves do not carry the information changes you make. If you decide to view your files in ITunes, Windows Media Player or even re-import the files into Creative Media Source, it does not contain your information. Basically, you can never go elsewhere than Creative Media Source once you've edited the information in media source. I think Creative Labs did it on purpose so that people who acti'vely make changes in their Media Source can never go to another application or god forbid another media player.
