Transfering books from IMAC ibooks to my Ipad ibooks

Since upgrading to Mavericks and getting ibooks on my imac. I have not figured out how to get the book on my ipad. my books do not show up iitunes anymore???
Help !!

Your iBooks do not show up in iTunes any longer on your Mac.  They are now in iBooks, a new Mac application.  if your iBooks is signed in correctly (look under Store in iBooks' menu to make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID and password you use on your iPad), then your iBooks should be both on your Mac and your iPad.
Make sure both iBooks (on your iPad and your Mac) are set up to download purchases automatically.

  • Transfering music from imac 10.4.11 to ibook 10.3

    Hi,
I've just inherited an old ibook G3 500mhz twin usb which I'm bringing back to life with a big new hard drive (hopefully!). I wondered if it's possible to put all my music on it (there will be space on HD) so I can use it as a jukebox in other rooms of my house? I currently have all my music on my recent imac running 10.4.11, the ibook will be running 10.3.
I wondered if I will be able to just transfer some folders from the itunes folder, if so which ones?
    Thanks for any help.

I would think you would have to be careful about this and not just be dragging folders around, willy-nilly.
Will the two Macs be running the same version of iTunes?
There is a similar question here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1346964
If that doesn't precisely answer your question, it does get you to the iTunes for Mac forum where you can ask more specifics if you need to do so.
    Good luck.

  • Transfered photos from IMac with Iphoto 9 to a mac book with Iphoto 11 now Iphoto 09 errors out saying "You can't open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto."

Transfered photos from IMac with Iphoto 9 to a mac book with Iphoto 11 now Iphoto 09 errors out saying "You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto."  We have not updated or changed anything on the IMac all we did is transfer photos. Any help would be appreciated.

LarryHN is correct. The only way this message occurs is if the iPhoto Library database is upgraded to a newer version.
You could try holding SHIFT-OPT-COMMAND when launching iPhoto from the dock and checking only "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" and hope it restores the previous database prior to the upgrade.
If that doesn't work, you can install iPhoto '11 on your iPhoto '09 computer. If I understood the iPhoto '11 Mac App License agreeement correctly, you can install it on any personal, non-commerical computer you own running 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7.

  • I have hidden unwanted books from the purchased area of the iBooks store, but they're are still appearing on the front page of iOS as cloud downloads, is there a way to remove these from iBooks without using the hide iCloud books button?

I have hidden unwanted books from the purchased area of the iBooks store, but they're are still appearing on the front page of iOS as cloud downloads, is there a way to remove these from iBooks without using the hide iCloud books button?
Let me explain a little more. I had downloaded a lot of free books in the past as a trial when iBooks was first released and since then I have decided I no longer want them, because of this I hid them from the purchased section of the iBooks store. The 5 books left are ones I decided to keep as seen in the following picture.
This is how it appears in iBooks on my mac. There are 4 books downloaded and 1 book that I have decided not to download at this time. I would still like to keep this book available in the cloud incase I want to download it again in the future. You’ll notice that hide iCloud books is not selected, if I wanted to hide the book that I have chosen to keep in the cloud, but have not downloaded yet I could.
This is exactly how I think this feature should work. If you have hidden a book from your purchases it should not show up in the mac Ibooks app. (I am aware you can never actually delete a purchase, just hide them and that hidden purchases can be restored to your account from within the account management section of the iBooks store).
The iOS app is working differently for me. Here is a picture of the purchased tab on the iBooks store in iOS Ibooks. Again notice that pictures of Lilly is still yet to be downloaded. This is how I expected it to look.
If we visit the front page of iOS iBooks the view is very different from what I expected. Here we can see the 4 books I wanted to keep on my device and have downloaded. We can also see the 1 book I wanted to keep, but did not want to store locally on the device and left in iCloud (Pictures of Lilly). However we can also see all the books I had hidden from the purchased section of my iTunes account and which I believe should no-longer be visible, Dracula, frankenstein etc…
I am aware of the hide iCloud books button within the iOS app, but I did not need to use this to hide the books I had removed from the my purchased section of the iBooks store on the mac, why are they still appearing in iOS?
I’m still not sure if this is a software glitch or not. This article suggests to me that books can be hidden, but I had already completed these steps.
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201322
A browse of google also suggests people may have been able to hide past purchases from the front page of iBooks on iOS in the past.
In case there was an issue with syncing I tried logging in and out of my iTunes account via settings in iOS. Force closing the app, disabling automatic downloads and removing my device from iTunes in the cloud. Syncing with iTunes on the mac did not correct the issue either.
Interestingly I have the same issue on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3 as I do on my iPad mini suggesting that this might be an issue either with my account or with iOS iBooks software in general.
If there is a way to remove the already hidden iBooks in your account from the front page of iBooks on iOS without using the hide iCloud downloads button? Please help community!

My apologies for the lack of photos, here is my post again with photos.

  • I bought a book on itunes on my pc. I want the book on my ipad.  When I plugged in my ipad to sync it moved all my apps to my pc - useless. how do i get my apps back on my ipad and get the book from my computer to my ipad?

I bought a book on itunes on my pc. I want the book on my ipad.  When I plugged in my ipad to sync it moved all my apps to my pc - useless. how do i get my apps back on my ipad and get the book from my computer to my ipad?

Instructions on syncing your iPad can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12311
and in the accompanying documents linked from that page. Syncing your iPad with iTunes copies items, it doesn't move them. The only way apps would be actually removed from your iPad during syncing is if you had iTunes set to remove them on syncing, so check the appropriate settings in iTunes, set the book to sync as well, and then sync the iPad again.
    Regards.

  • How do you sync mail folders from iMac(lion) to my iPad.

How do you sync mail folders from iMac(lion) to my iPad?

Is your email account an IMAP account? If not, the folders will not sync.
If your email account is a POP account, you can create folders and mailboxes in the Mac mail app and those folders will be for local storage and organization on the Mac only. That is a feature of the Mac mail software. Those folders/mailboxes will not sync if you do not have an IMAP account.

  • Where do you put PDF books from iMac into iPad?

How do you copy  PDF books from an iMac to an iPad?
I assume you open the iPad on the iMac's desktop and drop the books into the appropriate older  .  .  .  .  but what is that folder? (I'm enquiring for someone else, hence I don't know what they will be seeing).

You can sync them via your Mac's iTunes, the iPad won't mount as a drive on a Mac - an iPad doesn't have a file system like a 'normal' computer, everything has to be stored within an app.
If you want to sync them to the iBooks app on your iPad then you can add PDFs to your Mac's iTunes via File > Add To Library (they will go into the Books part of your library), and you can then sync them by connecting the iPad to your Mac and selecting it on the left-hand sidebar of your Mac's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your Mac then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S), and the using the Books tab on the right-hand side of iTunes to select and sync them.
If you want them in a different app then how you get it there will depend upon what the app supports e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc.

  • HT204081 After I read a book from iBooks on my ipad, can I store them on my computer and remove the book from my library on the ipad? Will I lose the book if I remove it from the ipad?

I have downloaded a book from iBooks. Can I save it to my windows based laptop, or iTunes library, to keep a copy at all times so I can remove it from my ipad? I have a lot more space on my computer then I do on my ipad.

All content purchased from the iTunes store should be saved to iTunes on a computer for safekeeping.
Simply connect the iDevice and select File > Transfer purchases.
If the content is no longer desired on the device, manage what syncs to the device via iTunes on the computer.

  • Transferring pdf from my computer to my ipad

I previously had a kindle fire hd, I had a bunch of my fave books in pdf format, they are saved to my computer. How do I go about transfering those pdf files from my computer to my new ipad> And does it make a folder, or do I have to do that. Any help will be great! Thanks!

You'll want to download iBooks or any other comparable PDF reading App, and use iTunes file sharing to sync them to the iPad or iBooks Syncing for the iBooks App. .
    iTunes File Sharing
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094
iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4227
The iPad does not have a regular filesystem, so no real folders to speak of.
Inside the App, if the App itself suports it, you may be able to make folders.    iBooks autmatically places PDF's under the PDF category tab.

  • Need to transfer books from a new pc to ipad  1 without losing old books

i am sure this has been asked and answered but i am new to this community. I just lost my PC and the external hard drive i had. I have just got a new pc and want to transfer books i have there to my ipad but i keep getting a message that says if i sync the pc and ipad i will lose all my old books and only get the ones on the new pc. That is a LOT of books i would lose.
i am not a young computer genius, so if someone could please give me an easy step by step way to just add the new books without losing anything i would appreciate it.
by the way, these books are "files" on the new computer. They are not from teh  Kindle store. Almost all are epubs.
    thanks

There are some instructions on this page for how to sync to a new computer : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
Even if they aren't ibooks that you downloaded from Apple, if they are in the iBooks app on your iPad then you should be able to copy them over to the Books part of your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
If you have music, films etc on your iPad which aren't in your new computer's iTunes library then you might be able to redownload some/all of your iTunes purchases via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes. For music, films etc from other sources (and if you can't redownload all of your iTunes purchases) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Books from a hard drive to ipad

I want to buy iPad but I want to be able to transfer books (not from the ibook store) from a hard drive to it. I don't think you can do that using iTunes. What can I do?

    You have some options:
Create a PDF file from the book, then transfer that to the iPad to be read by a PDF reader on the iPad such as GoodReader.
Convert the book file to the format used by iTunes. I suggest looking at calibre 1.41.0.

  • HT203167 transferring books from 1 computer to another

I bought 3 books while at work, on an iMac "authorized" for my iPad.  When I try to sync them to the iPad, I am warned that all other media will be removed.  They are not in my iTunes media folder at home; is there a correct or easy way to get these books transferred to the iPad?
    Sam

    Michael,
Thank you for the reply.  Perhaps I'm showing my ignorance here, but....I find the books in my Purchase History, but I do not see how to download them to the home computer; I can only see how to "Report a Problem."

  • How can I transfer books from my Mac to my iPad without using iTunes?

    ?

I can get books into iBooks on my ipad easily enough by just emailing them to myself or using Dropbox. The problem with that route is that it loses the book's genre, which must be something iTunes handles separately from the file.
Anyone have any ideas on how to retain the genre metadata outside of iTunes?
