Transfering data between mac's
Hi,
I have an iMac & a macbook.
How do I transfer a lot of data between the 2?
I take it I buy a firewire to firewire cable.
How do I then go about transfering data.
Many Thanks,
Jeff
How do I then go about transfering data.
Connect them and start up one Mac with the T key held down. You can also use file sharing over a FireWire, Ethernet, or wireless connection.

You might now create a new temporary user account. Log into the new account. Do the panics still occur?
I would also visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on diagnosing kernel panics. Sometimes they can be difficult to track down. Looking at each new panic log would help determine if it's cause is associated with the same extensions. -
Transferring Data Between Mac & PC
Hi! I've been a PC user all this while and I just got my very first Mac.
I'm wondering if there is a way to share data between my employer's PC and my personal Mac using my external backup drive. The HDD I currently have is formatted in NTFS and it does not allow me to transfer data from my Mac.
I do a lot of work at home and while I'm overseas and I need to read/ write from both computers very regularly.
Please help.I'm looking to switch from a PC to a Mac, and all of my data is on two external NTFS hard drives.
Am I ok using NTFS-3g and keeping my drives formatted NTFS indefinitely, or should buy a new drive, format it FAT32, and move all the data to it? -
What are the alternate methods of transferring data between apps built on ios
Hi All,
What could be the alternate methods of transferring data between apps built on ios?
Please comment.
Thanks
PankajI'm not aware of any apps that can open pdfs from iBooks, but I could well be wrong. There are a small number of apps that will open pdfs from emails, you can also open pdfs from some applications ike dropbox which has an iOS app so you can access any document you can open on iOS and sync between devices and computers.
Sorry if this is all a little vague, I'm not exactly sure what it is you are asking -
I am transferring data from Mac to Mac. Message says 30 minutes left but has said that since yesterday. What do I do?
How are you transferring the data? Migration Assistant? How do you have the computers connected (wifi, Ethernet hub, FireWire, etc.)?
You may want to cancel the transfer and just see what data was transferred. You can always begin again if not all data has been transferred.

Transfering data between H.Planning applications
Hi all,
I would need some help with transfering (synchronizing?) data between two Hyperion Planning applications. The source application has less dimensions ( just 8) than the destination application (13 dimensions). And we know there is one of the source dimensions (Entity dimension) that determines which is the combination for more than one destination dimensions ( Responsable, Geography, Market...). Just to clarify:
Source Dimensions Destination Dimensions
1 AccountS -----------------------------> AccountD
2 ScenarioS-----------------------------> ScenarioD
8 EntityS--------------------------------> EntityD
EntityS--------------------------------> Responsable
EntityS--------------------------------> Geog.
EntityS--------------------------------> Market
Which would be the best way to solve that problem? I've been reading the EPMA Admin Guide ( Data Synchronizer), but I don't know how if that's the way to do it. How about Business Rules or Scripts?
Thanks for your ideas and support.You can also you "partitioning" to do this. Old school method but if you understand it you can do exactly the mapping you are displaying, including going from a cube with less dimensions to a cube with more dimensions. It's a bit tricky thought to get the syntax right but once set up will continue with you month over month. Based on your model it actually might be multiple partitions to make this work correctly.
Another idea is to use a secondary Alias table for the one for one mapping part. and go with John's method.
It also begs the question why your models are so different in the first place, if they share data, but I'm sure you have good reason for this. -

Transferring data between two tables - Best practise advice
Hi!
I need advice on best practise since I am new to abap-thinking.
I have two tables. I am going to transfer data from table1 and update the corresponding master data table with the data in table1.
Which is the best way of doing this? The data amount that can be transferred is maximum 300 000 rows in table1.
I can only think in one, the simple, way which is to read all the rows in to an internal table and then do an update on all the rows in the master data table.
Is there a better way of doing this?
thanks in advance,
regards
BaranHi!
1. The update will be done a couple of times per week.
2. Yes, the fields are the same.
3. Both tables are SAP dictionary tables. One is a staging table and the other is master data table. Our problem is that we want a custom field to a standard master data table. We add an extra field to the staging table and the same to the corresponding master data table but the standard API is not supporting the transfer of data between custom fields so we are developing our own code to do this.
After some standard code has transferred the standard fields from staging tables to master data tables we are going to transfer our field by updating all the rows in the standard table
thanks
regards

I need help in connecting and transferring data (mostly photos) from my old PowerPC 6400/180 to my newer 24" iMac. The 6400 has been upgraded with a G3 processor and runs on OS 9.1. The iMac is running OS 10.4.10. I think I may have a faulty ethernet card on the PowerPC, so I've been trying unsuccessfully to connect it to my router with either a LinkSys USB Network Adaptor(EtherFast 10/100) or a D-Link Wireless USB Adaptor(DWL-122). I'm afraid the USB devices may not be supported or have the necessary drivers to be used on the older PowerPC. My USB memory stick will not work either.
With a recent iMac, you should be able to connect it directly to another Mac (even an older one) using a standard Ethernet cable. Of course, if the Ethernet port on the 6400 is broken, it will not work. But you should try it. Make sure file sharing is turned ON on the 6400. I would use the iMac to look for and connect to the 6400. If it doesn't show up by "browsing," try putting the IP address that is shown in the 6400's TCP/IP control panel into the
Finder>menu>Go>Connect to Server...
window on the iMac, in the field "Server Address:".
If Ethernet does not work... Do you have a .Mac account with Apple? The online storage was recently upgraded to 10GB. Other services (such as your ISP) may also provide online storage. There is a program called Goliath that
http://www.webdav.org/goliath/
that allows access to online storage under the classic Mac OS. If you have such a resource, you could transfer the files there from the 6400 and copy them down from the iMac.
Actually, if your Ethernet does not work, you may not have Internet access (unless you use a modem and dial up). I suppose you could buy a cheap external FireWire or USB (or some have both) case and drop in the hard drive from the 6400 (I think 6400's have IDE drives). Then connect it to the iMac.

Transferring data between two production servers
HI All,
I have read weblogs in transferring scenarios from Dev to Qual to Prod.
But I have a different requirement in which I have to transfer data from one production server to another production server without distrubing the first production server.
Say A and B are two production servers, I wanted to transfer data from A to B on daily basis.
Please give me some ideas on this....
Thanks
VeniHello,
I would suggest to use IDOC for transferring data (master \ transaction ) ... to do that you need to setup logical system (prod b) and RFC connection to connect to system prod b ...
Also distributional model need to setup for pushing the outbound idoc into RFC connection through receiver port.
Thanks

Transfering data between FTP Servers.
Dear Friends,
How we can transfer data between FTP servers.
Kindly provide me some step by step guide for the complete scenario,
I need to fetch the the dats from FT P server and send the data to FTP Server of MDM.
How to define Technical and Business system in SLD for above mentioned scenario.No need of IR if you have to use XI as FTP
refer these links:
XI in the role of a FTP
Similar Threads:
Using XI as FTP without mapping
Use of SAP XI as "on demand" FTP Server
Using XI as a FTP Server ?
I dont think you would need to add servers as technical systems for this thing.
In case you want to call RFC or send or receive IDOCs from R3 servers you need to make technical systems as ABAP. -
Transfering data between servlets
hi
how would i transfer data between servlets - Im creating a form (form1) which asks the user to enter information - the user then submits, and this takes them to the next form (form2) - i need to transfer the data from form1 to form2 (ie. name, lastname). code follows
// set content type
response.setContentType("text/html");
// then write the data of the response
out = response.getWriter();
out.println("<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>" + Title + "</TITLE></HEAD><BODY BGCOLOR=white>");
out.println("<H2>Customer Registration Form</H2>");
//create link to servlet action = pathOfServlet?
out.println("<FORM action = \"ServletExample1\">");
out.println("First name: <input type=text name=\"name\" value=\"" + name + "\">");
out.println("Last Name: <input type=text name=\"lastName\" value=\"" + lastName + "\"><P>");
//value=\"female\" -- forward slash enters html/java and ends java
out.println("Male<input type=radio name=\"gender\" value=\"male\"> ");
out.println("Female<input type=radio name=\"gender\" value=\"female\"><P>");
out.println("Telephone: <input type=text name=\"phone\" value=\"" + phone + "\">");
out.println("Email: <input type=text name=\"email\" value=\"" + email + "\"><P>");
out.println("<INPUT TYPE=SUBMIT><P>");
out.println("</FORM>");
// then write the data of the response
out = response.getWriter();
out.println("<HTML><HEAD><TITLE>" + Title + "</TITLE></HEAD>\n");
out.println("<BODY BGCOLOR=white>");
out.println("<H3>Credit Card Information</H3>");
out.println("<FORM>");
out.println("First name: <input type=text name=\"name\" value=\"" +should i link here+ "\">");
out.println("</BODY></HTML>");Have you tryed using the request parameter? It should contain what you seek, I think.
Here for example;
String firstName = request.getParameter("name");
String lastName = request.getParameter("lastname");Use that in the second form, which should get its parameters from form1. -
Transfering data between cascading popups
Hi,
Is it possible to pass data between multiple cascading popups ? I know how to pass back to the parentApplication but not the parentPopUp so-to-speak.
The setup I have is that my parent application tiggers a popup (say PopUp A) and that in turn triggers another popup (PopUp B). I want to pass the results of the calculations done in popup B back to popup A. (The popups are all in separate .mxml files).
Can this be done easily ?
Thanks,
AlexBest solution for your difficulty from the root - would be to store all calculation results, all data model in one spot/place say using some
singleton class, which you could access then from anywhere in the code.
public class CentralModelLocator {
private static var instance : CentralModelLocator;
public var anyData:*;
function CentralModelLocator() {
if (instance) {
throw new Error(
'Singleton already created',
getQualifiedClassName(this));
instance = this;
public static function getInstance():CentralModelLocator {
if (!instance)
instance = new CentralModelLocator();
return instance;
Then you could access your data from any popup of any depth, just use this code:
Inside PopupA code write to this var CentralModelLocator.getInstance().anyData = 'Some calculation result';
Inside PopupB use this one code to get the result:
CentralModelLocator.getInstance().anyData -
Transfering data between threads
What is the best way to transfer data between 2 or more individually
running threads? Like say you have 2 threads running the first
thread continuous processes data and sends it to the second thread
which formats and graphs the data. I know globals are an option,
but I also know that they may not be the most efficient option.
Any thoughts on this are much appreciated.
Thanks,
NateHere is an example in 7.0, I use this format often. Sorry about the sloppy coding but its lunch time and the only free time i had to fit this example in, hope it helps.

Transferring data between MacBooks
When the aluminum MacBooks were released last year, I sold my aging MacBook Pro and bought a new MacBook. I figured with the speed bumps and much improved graphics card and RAM, the new MacBook would at least match the performance of my old Pro.
Although the new MacBook is fantastic, I've since felt a little disappointment that I didn't opt for the new Pro instead. There are a few things I'm unable to do -- like the odd gaming, having the keyboard light up, etc. However other than that, the new MacBook met my needs, and I wasn't going to shell out for a Pro anytime soon.
That was until this morning... when I spilt a cup of coffee all over my MacBook. There wasn't much of it, but I'm sure many of you know, even the slightest bit of liquid doesn't mix well with electrical devices. Anyway, I've decided rather than go through paying hundreds for Apple to repair it, I'll just sell it on eBay for spares and get the MacBook Pro I've been wishing I'd have got in the first place.
Now here's my question -- when the Pro arrives, what's the best way to transfer the data between the two? Obviously the MacBook doesn't have a Firewire port so that's not an option. The MacBook will still turn and will function, it's just VERY temperamental, so it's not like it's completely dead. Any ideas?
Thanks.what's the best way to transfer the data between the two?
The hard drive is fairly easy to remove on the aluminum Macbook. I would remove it and install it in an external Firewire enclosure temporarily to transfer your files quickly and reliably, then put the drive back in the Macbook.
You 'can' use Ethernet, but it's not as reliable as Firewire.
Putting the drive in a external Firewire enclosure is a bit more work, but nothing will interfere with it.
Firewire lets a device carve out a certain dedicated amount of bandwidth that other devices can't touch. It gets a certain number of time slices each second all its own. The stream of data can just keep on flowing, and as long as there isn't more bandwidth demand than the wire can handle, nothing will interfere with it. No collisions, no glitches. Firewire is rock-solid.
