Transfering Data to SAP

Hi Guys,
I've been aksed this question and need to know how would you answer it.
How do you transfer data to SAP using trans LSMW.

The LSM Workbench is a tool that supports data transfer from   non-SAP systems to R/3. The main functions of the LSM Workbench are:
      - Import data (legacy data in spreadsheet tables and/or    sequential files)
      - Convert data (from source format to target format)
      - Import data (into the database of the R/3 application)
Pre requisites of LSMW -
Make sure that SAP customizing is finished.
Run the relevant transaction in the SAP system manually with test data from the legacy system and see which fields must be filled. There may be required fields that do not correspond to data fields in the legacy system. In such a case, one should better assign a fixed value or establish an optional field for data transfer.
Map the fields in advance in written form: Assign the source fields to the target fields.
Determine the form in which non-SAP data will be transferred into the SAP system (e.g. via "Move" or according to a rule).
Import Methods -
IDOC's
BAPI's
Standard/Direct input
Batch Input
Steps -
Enter the transaction code (LSMW) or add this transaction to your favourites (right-click with your mouse on the Favourites map in the start menu and choose Insert transaction, type lsmw and press enter), since LSMW is an additional transaction, it is not available in the standard SAP menu.
At the initial screen, you can create a new project, corresponding subprojects and objects via Edit -> Create new entry. Alternatively you can select from an existing project
Project: An ID with a maximum of 10 characters to name your data      transfer project. If you want to transfer data from several legacy systems, you may create a project e.g. for every legacy system
Subproject: An ID with a maximum of 10 characters that is used as further structuring attribute
Object: An ID with a maximum of 10 characters to name the business object
- At the initial screen, ‘All Objects’ provides a list of all projects   created already.
     -  ‘My Objects’ displays a list of all objects you created personally
     - ‘All Project Objects’ displays all objects of the selected project as tree structure.
     - ‘Project Documentation’ displays any documentation written for the individual pop-ups and processing steps. You can print the project documentation out, send it and save it in various file formats.
     -  Select  ‘Documentation’ to enter your notes. After clicking, a popup is displayed in which you can write down your personal documentation.

    Hi
Check in RSA3 for the data records
If no data is coming here, problem is in R/3
If data coming here ,then  check in PSA
If data records are red...check which record is red and try to rectify manually after deleting the request in data target
    Hope this helps

  • Cost For exhange of data using SAP XI

    Hi All,
For all exchange of data between legacy and SAP R/3 will their be any trasaction charges (given to SAP )involved for the data transfer using SAP XI or is it based upon the license which we have received for number of users.
i.e If I am creating a sales/purchase order which needs to pushed to SAP R/3 system on realtime basis what will be the transaction charges for when I am using SAP XI as the interface.
Will it be based upon the file size that is transfered or
Will be constant for all the transaction as we have user authroizations.

    Thanks for the inputs.
Can you please provide me some supporting links for this..
Bcas Currently we will be transfering data only from one legacy system to SAP R/3 and viceversa.
It might involve transactions like Material careation, BOM (Bill of Material creation), Change Number creation, ECN, Costing Information etc.

  • Data (Master Data Changes and Transaction Data) from SAP BW to SAP BPC 5.1

    Hi guys
I have seen posts on this forum describing data transfers from SAP R/3 to SAP BPC. I assume the procedure for data transfers from SAP BW to SAP BPC 5.1 should be the same i.e. using SSIS packages.
However I have some unique requirements -
    1. DATA AT DIFFERENT AGGREGATED LEVELS - I need data from SAP BW at different levels - Some data comes at Product level while other at Customer level and some at Project Level. The current procedure takes BW queries output in excel sheets (6 files) and then use the data manager package to load the data in SAP BPC 5.1 using appropriate transformation and conversion files. This procedure is highly manual and I am looking at using SSIS package to do this. However, because of having data at different levels, it becomes a little tricky. How can we achieve this using SSIS?
    2. UPDATING MASTER DATA - I need to update the master data (dimension members) in SAP BPC 5.1 at the start of every month. The current procedure compares (in MS ACCESS) the data from the queries mentioned in 1 to the dimension members in SAP BPC 5.1 and spits a file with the new entries which needs to be manually updated in the appropriate dimensions using Admin Console. I am looking at automating this task. I cannot just replace all the contents of a dimension with the members coming from SAP BW since the dimension members contains some dummy members which are used for planning.
    3. HIERARCHY CHANGES - What is the best way to capture the hierarchy changes in SAP BW into SAP BPC 5.1?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Ameya Kulkarni

    Hi Ameya,
how did you solve the described problems? Can you give some hints about uploading master data and updating the hierarchy?
    BR, André

  • How to upload the  data into SAP R/3 System

I have a scenario to  upload the flat file data into SAP R/3 System.
I will describe my complete scenario here so that it will be better understanding for you to suggest the solution.
The  segments that relevant for the upload of customer master data, namely
    HD : Header Segment
    PF  : Partner Function Segment
    OP : Output Segment
    TX : Tax Segment
    CR : Credit Segment
    CT : Customer Text Segment

I think you can achieve this with IDOC creation. If it is so follow the steps below.
    Basic Type:
Basic IDoc type defines the structure and format of the business document that is to be exchanged between two systems.
    Segments:
Segments form the basic building blocks of an IDoc type and are used to store the actual datta. A segment type is the name of a segment and is independent of the SAP elease. A segment definition is the release-specific name of a segment.
    Steps in creating Segments:
    T.Code WE31
Enter the name for your segment type and click on the create icon.
    Type the Short text.
Enter the variable names and data elements.
    Save and Go back.
Go to Edit -> Set Release.
Repeat the steps to create more segments.
    IDOC TYPE:
Business data is exchanged with an external system using the IDoc Interface.
IDoc types (Special Structures) An IDoc type is defined through its permitted segments. Segments can be dependent on each other (parent and child segments). The IDoc interface can check for each IDoc whether thhe segments contained are compatible with thhe definitiion of its type. This systax check is activated or deactivated in the Partner Profiles.
    Steps in creating IDoc Type:
T.Code WE30 to create IDoc Type.
Enter the Object Name, Select Basic Type and click Create Icon
Select the create new option and enter a description for your basic IDOC type and press enter
Select the IDoc name and click Create icon
The system prompts us to enter a segment type and its attributes
Choose the appropriate values and press enter
The system transfers the name of the segment type to the IDoc editor.
Follow these steps to add more number of segments to Parent or as Parent-child relation.
    Save it and go back.
Go to Edit -> Set Release.
    Message Type:
    Steps in Creating Message Type:
    T.Code WE81.
change the details from Display mode to Change mode
After selection, the system will give this message "The table is cross client (See help for further info)". Press enter.
Click New Entries to create new Message Type.
    Fill details
    Save it and go back.
Assign Message Type to IDoc Type:
    T.Code WE82
Change the details from Display mode to change mode.
After selection, the system will give this message "The table is cross client (See help for further info)". Press enter.
Click New Entries to create new Message Type.
    Fill details

    Steps:
    1) Activate the application component hierarchy (tcode RSA9). Changes made to the application component hierarchy in the CRM system can be transferred to the BW using the "Edit Application Component Hierarchy" (SBIW - Postprocessing of DataSources).
SAP Note 434886 must be implemented in CRM 3.0 before the application component hierarchy is activated.
    2) Activate the Business Content DataSources (tcode RSA5).
Select/enter the application component and choose Execute (F8).
To compare the shipped and active versions, choose the 'Select Delta' pushbutton. If there is no active version of the DataSource, it is selected automatically.
To activate the shipped version, choose the 'Transfer DataSources' pushbutton.
    3) Management of the versions of the BW-Adapter metadata (tcode BWA5). All DataSources are displayed that are managed by the BW Adapter.
As in transaction RSA5 (Service API Metadata Activation), the 'Select Delta' function can be used to select the inactive DataSources or compare shipped and active versions.
You can also go directly to the screen for maintaining DataSources that are managed by the BW Adapter.
The 'Compare Version' function makes a detailed comparison of the shipped and active versions.
All BW-Adapter metadata is considered when versions are compared:
    Header information (Table SMOXHEAD)
    Mapping information (Table SMOXRELP)
    Global selection conditions (Table SMOXGSEL)
    Attribute key fields (Table SMOXAFLD)
Datasources used in CRM-BW extraction are:

  • IDOC data transfer SAP to Java using SAP JCo

    Dear Experts,
The challenging requirement we are having is, we need to create the interface for data transfer between SAP system and the Java system. The data will be transferred from SAP to java and similarly once some processing done in Java again the details needs to be transferred from Java to SAP.
For this data transferred we are planning to use IDOC process and for interface "SAP Java connector" we are planning to use. In this case we are having some doubts.
    1. The data from SAP is going to be transfered from one Custom transaction (Z tcode). Once  "Outbound IDOC" will get triggered and will carry the details. Now the doubt is, whether the data / details will get transfered to JAVA system automatically or we need to perform any other steps from SAP ABAP coding...(like converting in to flat file, XML file and etc) ??
    2. We are planning to install "SAP Jco" in Java server. Is this correct...??
    3. Other than SAP Jco any other softwares needs to be installed or not..??
    4. Since we are going to trigger the "outbound IDOC" from custom transaction, we are planning to develope one program in SE37. Other than this any other program we need to develop or not..??
If anybody has detailed steps or explanation please share it with us.
    Warm Regards,
    VEL

    Hi All,
For the above mentioned issue, we implemented JCo software in JAVA system and created the JAVA program including SAP logon credential details like Client, User name, password and Language details.
When this JAVA program was compiled successfully then, that non SAP system will appear in SAP gateway Tcode.
Once non SAP system started appearing in SAP gateway that means, both SAP & Non SAP are connected automatically.

  • How to retrieve Data from SAP BW to  SQL

    Hi All,
i am looking for way to retrieve Data from SAP BW to SQL.
Could you please give me some indcations or a document on how to implement it?
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers
    Gilo

    Hi,
You need to use open hub destination. third party tool destination for SQL
SAP BW TO SQL -- Extraction to the third-party tool can be executed as follows:
           1.      You define an open hub destination with Third-Party Tool as the destination type.
           2.      You create an RFC destination for your third-party tool and enter it in the definition of the open hub destination.
           3.      You use API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_SETPARAMS to define the parameters for the third-party tool that are required for the extraction.
           4.      You either start extraction immediately or include it in a process chain. You can also start this process chain from the third-party tool using process chain API RSPC_API_CHAIN_START. The extraction process then writes the data to a database table in the BI system.
           5.      When the extraction process is finished, the system sends a notification to the third-party tool using API RSB_API_OHS_3RDPARTY_NOTIFY.
           6.      The extracted data is read by API RSB_API_OHS_DEST_READ_DATA.
           7.      The status of the extraction is transferred to the monitor by API RSB_API_OHS_REQUEST_SETSTATUS.

  • Setting required to create Business partner record in SAP GTS for the customer who transferred from the SAP ECC system

    Dear Experts,
Can you please suggest me list of activities require to automatically  create Business partner record in SAP GTS for the customer who transferred from the SAP ECC system .
i.e If I create the customer master record and transfer the same CMR to SAP GTS , what are the setting requires to maintain in SAP GTS sytem to automatically create the Business partner .
    Ram

    Hi Raghu,
Below are the main settings required to enable you to transfer Customer Master Data to SAP GTS. Please note that their is a difference between, Customer Master Record and Customer Master Data in terms of data and for GTS, we transfer Customer Master Data. Hence, below are the settings required:-
    In SAP ECC system:-
Activate the change pointers for Customer Master Data apart from enabling basic connection settings.
Schedule a job to run at regular intervals to transfer all the customer master data for the available change pointers to the SAP GTS system
      2.  In SAP GTS system:-
Maintain the Mapping for ECC Customers to SAP GTS Business Partners in the General settings area of the SPRO in SAP GTS system
Ensure that the Number range is maintained for those GTS  Business Partners.
Also, some time you may be required to maintain the organisational structure to ensure full working.
I hope this will be helpful to you.

    hi,
For writing the fields into Unix file, they have to character fields.
to pass a date field, try like this.
    data: v_date(10) type c.
      concatenate sy-datum6(2) sy-datum4(2) sy-datum+0(4) into  v_date separated by '/'.
now send v_date to unix file.

  • Upload bulk data into sap?

    hi all,

    thanks,

    Hi John-
According to SAP, The Data Transfer Workbench supports the automatic transfer of data into the system. The Workbench is particularly useful for various business objects with large amounts of data. It guarantees that data is transferred efficiently and ensures that data in the system is consistent.
Further, The Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW) is a tool recommended by SAP that you can use to transfer data once only or periodically from legacy systems into an R/3 System.
For your purpose you might be helped by the following two links-
