Transfering files into my new ITunes library
I purchased a new pc, and before getting rid of the old one, I put my entire ITunes library onto discs in MPEG4 format. I cannot seem to get the songs on the discs to copy over to my newly created ITunes library. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I just downloaded a copy of TuneJack for the small price of $9.95.
It retrieved all my music from my iphone and loaded it all straight into my iTunes library for me all at a click of a button and only took a few minutes.

I would very much appreciate it if someone could tell me how to get the music from my old ipod mini into the new itunes library on my new laptop.
The mini was previously sync'd with my old PC which died so my files are only present on the ipod. Upon loading itunes, the software is only letting my sync the ipod providing I wipe it (obviously not desirable...)

When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" as you already know will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay. -

When i connect my iphone to the new iTunes library it tells me that it's going to erase everything on my iphone and upload everything from the new iTunes library onto it. Is there a way to save everything on my phone into the new iTunes library?

How do you import songs into a new iTunes library from a Touch?
I downloaded iTunes on a new PC laptop but, I'm unable to import the songs that are on the Touch, to the new iTunes library.
The songs that are on the Touch are all iTunes purchased songs and these songs are based in a iTunes library that is on the old laptop that no longer works. iTunes on the old laptop cannot be accessed and there was no cd-dvd back up done for this library.
When the Touch is connected to iTunes on the new laptop, the songs on the Touch do appear in a music folder under the device heading which is fine but, because these songs can't be imported into the new library, they cannot be backed up as far as I know.
Otherwise, everything regarding iTunes is working as it should be on the new laptop.
Since I'm dealing only with iTunes purchased songs, iTunes, and a Apple device, there must be some way of adding the songs from the Touch into the new library.
I've done a Google search about this and any of the suggestions I've tried, haven't worked.
The OS on the new laptop, is Windows 7.
If someone can offer some help on this, it would be appreciated.

How do I transfer ipad files to a new itunes library?
Hello, my itunes library was destroyed when my harddrive failed. I still have data on my ipad, but do not know how to transfer it to a new itunes library on my mac (snow leopard). I found several applications that claim to do just this and more for a fee, but I don't think that it is reasonable to pay for this simple function. Apparently it is a relatively simple proceedure on a PC.

CormacIt is just as easy on a Mac if you know what to do. Authorize the computer first - launch iTunes and go to Store>Authorize this Computer from the iTunes menu.
1) Without connecting your iPad to your computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your Mac, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
You may need a third party app to transfer the music and pohtos back to the iTunes library. Remember that all purchased music, apps and TV shows can be downloaded again for free (in the U.S.)

I can't import files into the new iTunes 11. Why?
Since downloading the new iTunes 11, required for the new iOS 7, I can no longer import files into my iTunes library.
When dragging and dropping the files, nothing happens.
When importing them via the iTunes menu. Nothing happens.
I've tried adding them to the iTunes folder "automatically add to iTunes library". Nothing happened.
I've had the new iTunes for one day, and it doesn't work.
Can somebody please help me?!Sorted. Sorry.
The files did not have album name / artist name etc... etc.... Had to find them and type them manually. -
Best Buy screwed me and lost everything, so since my Spotify was linked through my Facebook when I re-installed Spotify it was all still there. So, I was wondering if there was any way to put my music back into my iTunes library? I tried authorizing it and that didn't help at all. I clearly know nothing about any of this.
If I understand it correctly Spotify has indexed the media you like, and you can stream it again to the Spotify app on demand within the terms of your subscription. It won't give you access to downloadable copies of your tracks.

Moving music off ipod into new itunes library
My laptop was destroyed in a house fire along with my back up itunes disks, though i had my 80GB ipod clasic with me (as usual). I now have a new laptop but i don't know how to move music off my ipod into my new itunes library, or even if it is possible. please help, i want to put new music onto my ipod without losing what is already there. I need help with moving my music library.
I recently upgraded the OS on my computer from Vista to Windows7.
During the process it copied my iTunes library to a folder on this same computer (marked it Windows.old)
Once the OS was done, I installed a new copy of iTunes on the Windows7 but it now has a blank library (folder)
How do I move my music from its current folder location (on this same computer) into the new iTunes library folder ???

When I moved computers I literally dragged and dropped the music where I wanted it to be. THen when I opened iTunes I imported the files back into iTUnes
This creates a new library with all the same items but you lose a lot of info: Ratings, comments, date added, custom EQ, playlists, etc.
If you simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder, it is the exact same library, not a new library. No info is lost. -
Resync iPad 2 to a new iTunes "library" file
I got an iPad 2 as a gift to my mom over the weekend. Alas, as my mom isn't exactly tech savvy, I was going to just manage downloading apps and other things for the iPad on the same computer as my iPhone 4.
Unfortunately, while I was out of the house, my dad decided to charge the iPad on my computer. That synced the iPad 2 and the iPhone to same library and that caused me a few problems. For now, I am not auto syncing new apps on my iPad. However, I can see that managing both devices on one library might be problematic.
I saw that there is a way to have two library files using iTunes (using Option - Shift or something when I open iTunes).. It'll be a hassle but I think that might be the best way. However, I saw that iTunes said that I would "lose data" that I already had on the iPad if I synced to a new library file. Can anyone tell me what this means? Do i have redownload all the apps I purchased on my iPad?
I appreciate any thoughts on this.Assuming that all of mom's content and all of your iPhone content is in the same iTunes library now .... and If you are purchasing all of the apps for mom's iPad with your Apple ID and iTunes account - and you are doing the all of the syncing - there is absolutely no reason why you can't do it all from one iTunes library.

Tell dad - thanks but don't touch. Geez ... parents today what are we gonna do with them! If you have set iTunes to not sync when the iPad or iPhone is connected you will be fine. You can sync multiple iDevices to the same iTunes library without problems.

It means exactly what it says. If you create a new iTunes library - and sync to that - it would be the same thing as syncing to a new or different computer - you will lose all content - and app data - but you can transfer the app purchases first - before you sync. Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes, right click on the device name on the left side and select transfer purchases. You can also do this from the iTunes menu. Go to File>Transfer Purchases from Mom's iPad. That will transfer the apps into the new iTunes library. But you must do this before you sync, so if you are not syncing automatically you should be fine doing this.

If you create a new library, you can transfer the purchases from the iPad into the new library like I described above. Remember - it must be done prior to syncing.
I sync my wife's iPod Touch, my iPod Touch and my iPad to the same iTunes library. You can select exactly what you want to put on each device and do it all from the same iTunes library. When you sync mom's iPad, just remember to select only the apps, music, videos, photos, TV shows, books etc. in iTunes that she wants to put on her device and you do the same when you sync your iPhone.
This is what I do and have done from day one.
Launch iTunes on the computer
From the menu at the top Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices
Check the box at the bottom of the devices pane to prevent the devices from automatically syncing.
Quit iTunes.
Connect either device to the computer and launch iTunes (if it doesn't start on it's own)
Click on the device name on the left side under Devices.
In the summary tab - in the main iTunes window on the right - select Sync Only checked songs and videos.
I also uncheck - Open iTunes when iPad (or iPhone) is selected. (optional step)
If you do all of this, iTunes will not start on its own when you plug in your iDevices and it will not sync automatically - you said you aren't auto syncing anyway. Now you control everything. You just select the apps and so - all of the content by choice - that mom wants on her iPad and then you sync. iTunes will remember mom's iPad set up the next time you sync. You do the same thing for your iPhone and all is good. iTunes will remember what you have on your phone and what mom has on her iPad. -

Ok, so I have a new computer and wanted to transfer my itunes library from my old computer. I could not get the files to transfer. I downloaded the newest version of itunes and see that I can download my previously purchased music to the new computer. I have mp3's that I can add in on my own so I don't have a problem starting over in itunes.
My question is what happens when I plug in my 1st gen ipod touch and try to sync??? Will it erase what is on my ipod or will I be able to move the stuff from my ipod into my new itunes library?? Any info would be great...I'm happy with how my ipod is set up so I really don't want to mess with a good thing. Also, will I need to update and of my software on my ipod since it's 1st generation??
Thanks for the help!!You can only sync to one iTunes library/computer. If you do sync the iPod is erases and its contents replaced with what is in the iTunes library of the second computer.

After PC crash, can I load info from IPod to new ITunes library?
