Transfering from Gmail to TB but want to leave large attachments behind.

Before I start the transfer from Gmail to TB can I setup TB to only bring over the emails and not the attachments or those under 1mb?
I don't want to delete them from Gmail now as I have to go through them 1 by 1. I need the emails now and my Gmail account is 50GB, which I'm sure would take 10-14+ days on my meager 6mbps att residential account. (I suppose I could upgrade to the fastest account for this month).

I am not sure what to tell you to try. The one thing that I would typically recommend, may not work with Gmail, but may be worth a try.
If you try this, I would recommend that you temporially set your Advanced Preferences to never automatically check for new messages. Then Quit Mail. Next, in the Finder, open Home/Library/Mail/the POP folder for the Gmail account. At the root level of this POP folder please you will find a file named MessageUidsAlreadyDownloaded2 -- this can be deleted. With normal POP accounts, this would cause all messages still on the server to again be downloaded, when you next launch Mail and check for new mail. However, with a Gmail account, this should not happen, because Gmail keeps track of any you have ever downloaded, and does not present them for comparison to this file. This is why with Gmail, you cannot download to more than one computer, without changing preferences using the web interface. Thus, I think only those messages not yet downloaded will be presented, and if communication with this file is involved in your issue, it might be resolved. I don't have great hope of this, however.
Check something, before trying that:
Control-click over the Inbox, and choose Get Info. In the resulting dialogue, choose the Gmail account, and tell me whether these large messages can be seen. I have just tested disabling checking for new mail, sent a message to my Gmail account, and with this feature could see the message awaiting download. With any messages actually downloaded, once, this command will not show them. Let me know what you find.

Select what is desired to sync.

Thanks for this; my issue is that I have now supposedly purchased a retail version of Acrobat X1 (i.e just spent more $$, after the upgrade attempt to Acrobat X1 failed), and while this feigns an OK install, it fails in someway to override the "Upgrade Acrobat X1 version". E.G. once I load up to read an acrobat file the "upgrade version" executes/intercepts and ask for serial numbers and check for a previous qualifying version which I do not have, (BUT what I do have is the current retail version of acrobat X1 which is not recognised)
Do I need to uninstall and start over again? (I am reluctant to do this as I am sure serial number issues will arise, as I assume downloaded file will be cleaned up etc, and I am not spending more money trying again!)
Any suggestions?

I have a new MacBookAir with iTunes 11.3. All my music was transferred from my old MacBookPro; but, only purchased music from Apple shows up in albums, and songs. None of my other music appears, and no playlists have been displayed.

How to get non-purchased from Apple music and playlists to appear on my new MacBookAir with Mavericks, and iTunes 11.3, when all the prior music was transferred from MacBookPro. I see the library.itl files, and have removed them and imported the Library.xml file; but, still do not have access to playlists or any music I have taken from my CD collection. I see this as a common issue on the dozens of web searches. Is there a fix for this new iTunes 11.3?

Nothing new; same thing i have been posting for years. Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. Without exact details I can't tell what you did wrong but you probably didn't move the right files to the right place. Unfortunately youd id not want to delete the .itl file. The .xml has much of the same but your ratings, date added and playcounts are now gone.

Moving from PC to MAc, but want to keep all the old iTunes settings! Help!

I did this just fine, from PC to MacBook. But one problem I'm having is that my new iTunes library on the Mac is completely devoid of my old iTunes settings on my pc - my song ratings, my playlists, all the songs I've had checked and unchecked, date added, etc. Is there any way to migrate (I went from pc to mac, all the music files came over no problem) but to keep your iTunes information so you don't have to sort through all the songs all over again!!! Help!

Purchased App from Imac App Store but want the App on my IPAD

I purchased a game app on my imac, via the App Store, hoping it would synch across to my IPAD, like some other Apps I purchased, but it will not Synch to my ipad. I have since found out that not all APPs are compatible, and if you wish to use a game or App on the IPAD, you must PURCHASE it FROM the IPAD App Store.
Has anybody else had this problem? Can you get a refund, or somehow get the game swapped for the IPAD version?

The operting system on the iOS devices are different than those on Mac computers. Thus you need different apps. It like trying to use a Mac program on a PC.

My new 17" MBP 2.33/2GB/7200rpm100gb laptop shipped today (after a weeks delay) and should arrive Thurs 16th in CT.
I also own iMac G5 2.1 Ghz, 20", an eMac 1Ghz G4, and now, finally deceased PowerBook G3 500 Pismo (2000), 1GB RAM; 60gb 7200rpm.
When I got my iMac (which I use at work & home) I transfered via firewire everything from my PB G3 500, the setup program on iMac just transferred everything and only gave me the option to transfer or not.
But my iMac disk, 250GB, is 4 gb short of being full from music and work files). Can I pick and choose which files or programs are transferred to new 100gb drive ?? I don't want all the programs and files sent.
I really only want Mail/Address Book/Calender files, accounts and contacts, plus Safari's bookmarks.
I don't want all keychains, extra programs and all music files sent.

Migration Assistant won't provide file level transfers. It's also not a good way to transfer data between PPC and Intel Macs. Your best option is to simply copy the files from one computer to the other. You can connect the computers via network and transfer using file sharing or you can connect them via Firewire cable and use Target Disk Mode.
You will find the Mail and Safari data in /Home/Library/Mail/ and /Home/Library/Safari/ folders, respectively. Address Book and iCal data are found in /Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/ folder and /Home/Library/Application Support/iCal/ folder, respectively. Be sure to also copy the preference files from the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder for Mail, Safari, Address Book, and iCal. They will start with "com.apple." and end with ".plist".
Because your older Macs are PPC machines avoid transferring anything other than your data files. Intel and PPC software are not compatible.

I would like to install an exchange 2013 server in my organization, currently i have a sbs 2008 server. I would like to keep the remote user functionality of sbs but upgrade the exchange. If that's not possible i am still upgrading exchange. Does anyone
have a best practice steps for moving from SBS 2008 to exchange 2013. Should i just fallow the upgrade path from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013? The server i'm installing exchange on is a AD server on the domain currently and is running Windows server 2012.

We went that route as a stop gap when hardware constrained us: SBS 2008 successfully virtualised on a 2012 R2 Hyper-V host. It was not all plain sailing. Having shut down and disabled all the services on the physical SBS2008,
we used the Sysinternals disk2vhd tool to get two vhds (C: was system, E: was all the data including Exchange info stores), converted to vhdx using 2012.R2 Hyper-V manager and built a VM using these vhdxs. It booted at first but then
froze at restart after the Hyper-V host tools were automatically installed. We found a work round which involved running the MS System Update and recovery Tool (SURT) after the VM initial boot and before any subsequent VM restart. Once services
were put back to normal, the virtualised SBS 2008 ran fine.
There is some doubt as to whether this is a supported configuration, and it will not be easy to configure robust backups (see
this thread). However, our SBS2008 VM has been running for over a year in this configuration and am just now planning a move to Office 365 integrated Exchange with onsite Exchange 2013 plus virtualised 2012.R2 DC as per Larry's first reply.

Using Gmail, but want it to send as my forwarded college address, not my Gmail.

I have a college email address that I get to keep and have been using that as my default. It is linked to a Gmail account, though. On my Mac, it sends it from my college address (which is forwarded from Gmail), just the way I want, but it sends emails as a Gmail account with my iPhone 5. In other words, I want my recipients to see it as being sent from my college address and not my Gmail address (even though they are essentially the same account, just get to have an extra, forwarded address). People think I have two emails and I want them to know I just have one and have it be consistent.

This has been a request from Apple users for many years. it's great you can now combine all emails into one, but some people want them kept separate and have separate icons on the main page. They could easily do this by having one "MAIL" account as white and another red. Or put MAIL 1 and MAIL 2. Or an actual label that the mail accounts are called on the ICONS!!

Not that it matters a lot, Android vs iPhone interface is largely a matter of personal preference and what you know... I'm not sure which one you're saying is not efficient...

I currently have two email accounts setup. My iPhone main page Mailbox settings reads:

I wish there an efficient way to move back and forth while in the "Inbox" between accounts. Also, Why does one gmail account show as "Gmail" and another as the actually address?
The names are based on the names you gave the accounts when you set them up.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Tap the account you want to re-name. Go to the "Description" field and put in what ever you want.
Second, there is no way to quickly choose a bunch of emails to delete. I have to manually go into each one and move it to the Trash folder.
If you tap the edit button in the upper right while in mail, you can select multiple items to move, delete or mark (flag).
I don't want any of the condescending remarks, that I've read here and in other forums. I'm honestly looking for a solution, which I think you are too! One thing I realized is that iPhone users in these forums are really defensive and quick to say "that's how it is, live with it, if you don't like it go away" Um...the only thing that tells me is you are pretty bitter and have kept telling yourself that, to force yourself to like your device. I prefer to express my issues, and find solutions. There is ALWAYS a solution...
I think what you will find is that many people here, myself included, tend to get a bit short with people who start off with attacks or whining about how something has been asked for for years and should be easy, rant about things that have already been beaten to death multiple times in the forums, talk about how much better Android or BB are at something (really... if it's that much better, why did they buy an iPhone to begin with?), etc., or continue to ask questions that could easily be answered with a simple search, or even just by looking back at the last dozen posts to the forum, half of which probably asked the EXACT SAME question.
I don't think any of us go out of our way to be rude or uncivil. That said, attacking the people who are attempting to help you is much more likely to generate a response of 'if you don't like it, go away', than it is to generate something that will be truly helpful.

I made my own Apple ID because when I was logged into my dad's my family was receiving my texts from other people. I want to add my device to my dad's "find my iphone" app but without signing into his Apple ID on my phone because that was causing them to get my texts. I was told by Apple I could add my device to his by signing into icloud.com but there is no option that I can find to add my device. And I don't want to log back in to his.. Any ideas???

Also when I apply the safety copy it only imports the app the phones have had in common, so none of the apps that only the iPhone 4 had doesn't come in, only the ones I and the iPhone 4 has had in common. So you say the only way I can use the Apple ID to download on the old iPhone 4 is if I delete the apps that are in the phone and then download them again? How will that change the ID to download/update from. Won't it still have mine to update/download from?
