Transfering from iPhone 4 (iOS 6.1.3) to iPhone 4S (iOS 7)

Hi guys.
Here's the thing: I've been using an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.1.3 and just bought an iPhone 4S with iOS 7 already installed. My question is this: The newer iOS will be overwritten with the older backup when transfering/syncing from iTunes, returning the iPhone 4S to iOS 6.1.3?
Or will just "port" all the info, contacts, apps, etc. to the newer iOS?

Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.

Once photos transferred from iPhone 4S to PC, unable to edit them.

I transferred all photos from my iPhone 4S to my PC (Windows Vista). They are in my Windows gallery. However, I am not able to edit them. I want to rotate them, as most of them are sideways.. My PC gives me this error message "This photo cannot be saved because of a problem with the photos properties". It's in JPEG format so I am not sure why it won't let me. It's for all pictures that are transferred from iPhone to PC. Any suggestions?

That worked, however, a lot of work to do for all pictures. I noticed though, that these are the pictures I take with the camera vertically. When I take pictures holding camera horizontally, they transfer over correctly. If I take the vertical picture and change it to horizontal before sending to my email, it will then be able to be rotated in Windows. So it seems as though any pictures taken vertically willl transfer over horizontally, needing to be rotated, but only Paint will allow me to do that. Make sense? Any setting on the iPhone that will correct this, when taking pictures vertically? Most of the time, that's how I take pictures.

While iphoto was finishing the transfer, it asked me if i would like to delet photos from iphone and I answred Yes... but some problem happens to Iphoto, and I have had to do the "force quit" with it... after all... when I opened Iphoto to see the pictures... it was not there... neither in my Iphone... Where I can find it back??

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup to put everything back.
You can try contacting itunes support and asking for an exception, but they are under no obligation to allow it.

Since I've done this, when I plug my phone into iTunes, iTunes does not register songs that I've recently listened to on my phone has having been played. The "Last Played" column does not update. This creates issues with my Smart Playlists, which I have set up to to choose only songs that I have not listened to in the last 5 weeks. I've tried creating a new Smart Playlist to see if the old ones just weren't working properly anymore, but that doesn't seem to be the issue. It's the lack of updating in the "Last Played" information for my songs. Does anyone know of something I can do to try and fix it? I really like having Smart Playlists that keep me from having to hear too many of the same songs over and over. Thanks!

I have just upgraded from my iPhone 4 8gb IOS 6 to a new iPhone 5 16gb IOS 6. I backed up my data to iTunes and then reinstalled it to my new iPhone 5 without problems.
I think you should be aware that Apple automatically downloads IOS 7 on to your phone during this proceedure without your knowledge. You are then stuck with a large unusable file unless you want IOS 7 installed. In my case, the whole object of upgrading phones was to gain more space. I now have a new iPhone 5 with IOS 6 installed with 3gb being used up by IOS 7.
I see that a lot of people have complained to Apple about this, and some have even started legal proceedings against them.

How do I get synced photo albums transferred from iphone to my mac?

I recently had to replace my hard drive on my Macbook and now that I have replaced the drive I would like to recover the pictures on my iphone.
I was able to get the camera roll photos using image capture but I am unable to get the photo albums that were synced from my previous iphoto library. My iPhone 4S is jailbroken so I could go in via SSH but the problem is that I cannot even locate the photos.
Is there a way to get those photos back onto my Macbook?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The photos "synched" from a computer to your iPhone aren't really the original photos. They're low resolution thumbnails suitable for display on the phone, but not practical for anything else. If you didn't bother to save the original photos before replacing your computer's hard drive, your pictures are gone.

If these are iBooks, there is no app that allows you to read iBooks on the Mac or PC. If these are books from another source, you need to check with the source for an app that is Mac or PC compatible.

My father has just received an iphone from his grandaughter and it still has her music and photos on it, which we want to put onto the computer - plus we want to save his contacts that he has put on there already.
Then we can put the phone back to factory settings to get rid of unwanted stuff and put the photos, music and contacts back on.
However, he doesn't have an apple account to synch it onto the computer and the phone is still under his grandaughters account.
I am worried that in the process of changing the phone from her account to a new one, we will lose the music, photos and contacts.

Follow these directions, & you will be OK.
Launch iphoto(if you have it), connect your phone & import your photos into iphoto, only the photos in your camera roll can be imported this way, without third party software, you will lose the rest. Before you connect your phone to the new computer's itunes, launch itunes and make sure you "authorize" this computer(Store, Authorize this Computer). Next go to Address book and enter one contact, it can be a fake contact if you like. Do the same with iCal, again it can be a fake entry. When you connect your phone to itunes & get the pop up message, cancel out. Now, go up to File, Transfer purchases from this ipod to this computer. All of your purchased content will now be transferred to your new computer(music & apps> you will lose saved data in the apps). Make sure that you select manually manage & not auto sync when your phone is connected.
Now, if you do the above you will only lose photos that are not in the camera roll & music you may have ripped on your own. If you want to keep this stuff, then you will have to purchase 3rd party software like "phoneview", there are others, you can google to find more.
Now you can decide what you want to do. When you hit sync, if that's your choice, make sure you select merge during the sync process for ical & address book.
Remember, the iPhone only supports syncing with one computer at a time.

In app purchase not transferring from iPhone to ipad

I recently bought a metronome app that has an in app purchase which I opted for on my iPhone. It works as expected on the iPhone. However, the same app on my iPad does not recognize the purchase... it prompts me to purchase the feature to enable it. I tried removing the app from the iPad then resyncing it but that's no help. When I check mu purchase histoty on my computer the purchase shows up but from the iPad, the in app purchase doesn't show up. Anyone with similar experience have any suggestions?

This "should" fit into the "non-replenishable" category that would work with all of the user's ios devices. The app is a demo that has the full functionality enabled with the in-app purchase. I suppose it is possible that the developer misunderstood the classifications and set it up as replenishable by mistake.
If this is the case, it could be avoided if Apple would simply clearly note in the App store which category the In-App purchase is . i.e, if a customer is paying $20 for an in app purchase, it may be OK with them if they can use it on multiple devices but not worth it if they must purchase it for each device. They should be able to find out which it is before buying.

Transferring From iPhone 3GS to iPhone 5?

I updated my 3GS to iOS 6 a couple of days ago and then today went to get my new iPhone 5. It's not currently on iOS 6 so it says I have to start as a new iPhone and update it... When I tried to update it said it was corrupt, etc.
Help?! I just got it a few hours ago and I'm already fed up with it.

Just to clarify... iPad/iPhone run the iOS operating system. Macs run OS X. While there are some underlying similarities, they are two different operating systems. You cannot run iOS apps on a Mac and you can't run Mac apps on an iOS device.

Faster and I believe more reliable. However, be sure to sync photos to a computer before doing the switch. THAT is the safe way to transfer photos - too many users have gotten burned relying on getting back photos from an icloud backup.
