I just lost all my info from hard drive. The only thing left is what i have in my ipod. How do i transfer my ipod data to a new library this would include purchases from itunes store but most of it are my own downloads. Please i am desperate. What can i do?

If your iPod is set to sync automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Alternatively open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.
If at any point you get a message that your iPod is linked to another library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.

I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

I have authorisized the new computer, but still get the message that items i purchased could not be transferred from ipod because computer is not authorized.

Have you tried re-authorizing your computer?
Select the "Store" menu in iTunes (it's with the other tabs on the top of the iTunes window), and click on "Deauthorize computer" to deauthorize this computer.
Once you've deauthorized, go to the Store menu again, and now select "Authorize computer" to authorize this computer again.
After doing that, try syncing purchases to your iPod - do you still get the "now authorized" message?

I recently lost my whole hard drive and had to re-image my machine. I was able to add my back up files into my "new" iTunes, however there are about 500 songs that I had failed to back up onto disc that are still on my iPod. Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store, so they won't appear in the cloud for re-downloading. You should be able to connect the iPod to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchased to copy them over to the Books part of your computer's iTunes library and you can then sync them to your iPad

If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I've downloaded iTunes on a second computer and copied all my music files to said library. Can I now sync my iPod in new library? On my old computer I had a set up which allowed me to add music to the iPod without just syncing the entire library. Is this still possible?

Connect & choose items to sync. iTunes will ask you to confirm that you want to erase all music currently on the device and replace it with content from the current library. Assuming that is what you want go ahead... If there is anything on the device you want to rescue first see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I lost the hard drive in old computer. Having trouble transfering files directly from ipod to new computer. Ipod is configured for windows. Old computer was windows XP, new computer is Windows Vista. Get transfer, but it is gibberish of some sort. I don't know what generation ipod. It is a video ipod with wheel and 30GB. It does say version 1.3 for itunes and model MA446LL. Any help?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

I just purchased a new PC with Windows 7 OS. I downloaded I-Tunes and then tried to sync my I-Pod to it. I tunes would only allow me to download the songs I had purchased, but would not allow me to transfer the songs on my I-Pod that I had downloaded to my I-Pod on a previous puter. It said if I wanted to accept the new library, it would erase everything currently on my I-Pod. How can I transfer the songs/library (all of them) to the new puter and I-tunes?

It's like this: I recently got a new notebook and consequently deactivated the old one. Now I've got an empty library on the new one, which is activated for my iPod. My question: how the **** do I transfer the music on my iPod into my library? There's got to be a way, right? Copy-paste doesn't work.
It would be great if someone could help! Also, I need very simple answers, I'm not expactly an expert with computers!
