Transfering from mini to nano

Hey guys, I'm new to these boards, but I have a super quick (and probably easy) question.
Is it possible, for me to plug both my iPod mini and iPod nano in, and somehow grab all the songs from my mini and put them right on to my nano?
I'm not longer going to be using my mini, and would rather not write down all 700 some odd songs i have on there, just to waste my time and search through my library again, and drag them all into my nano.
so, can I get my mini songs directly transfered to my nano?
thanks for the help!

Hi Chanak
I really love the nano, although I only recieved it this afternoon. It's not super different than the mini. The color screen, album art, and the picture slideshow, definately make it worth it. I haven't had a chance to really look at any other features yet. But so far, I'm lovin' it.
I'm not too anal about the appearance of my nano. I did order the black on, and yes, it's fingerprinted all over the place, but 'oh well' is what I say. I haven't discovered any scratches or anything on it [yet] but what device isn't gonna get its normal wear and tear?
The nano is SOO tiny. It's a little longer than my middle finger and so so thin. But I don't think its that delicate. Yea, if someone throws it to the ground, I'm sure you can call it delicate, but besides that, I love it.
I'm just praying and hoping they'll come out with an iTrip soon for it. I only use my ipod for the car usually. *crosses fingers*
hope this helped.
to everyone else. thanks for the advice.

  • How to update from Mini to Nano

    Hi
All my songs are on my Mini and I want to get them onto my Nano. I thought this would involve moving the files over to my library so I could do this. My mini wont let me do this and I never kept all the songs in my library as it is a shared computer and takes up space. How do I transfer from Mini to Nano. Seems I cant even copy to a disk and do it that way either.....please help !!

You need to first transfer all the files from your ipod back into your computer before you could transfer them to the nano. There are many forms already about this try searching for from ipod to computer or something.

  • Transfering from Computer to Nano

I am trying to transfer songs from Itune to nano, I downloaded songs hooked up nano itunes tells me the songs are om the Ipod but they are no, itunes shows the ipod wehn its hooked up and the ipod says it sync but nothing transfering, Any ideas??

Try clicking on devices and click on your iPod, then click the summaries tab, then click the music tab, and click "Sync all Music and Playlists" and then click sync, hopefully this should work, if not there is a alternative method.
    Alternative Method:
Go to the summary tab and click manually manage music and videos, this should let you either drag the music or right click and let you sync by yourself.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Converting from 'mini' to 'nano'

I've just bought a 8GB nano to replace my 'mini' and was wondering how I transfer the music from itunes to my new nano - any ideas???
Also, how much d'ya reckon I could sell my 'mini' for??
    Cheers

Turn the iPod on and choose a language from the list. Now you should see the "main menu" where you can configure your iPod.
When you first connect the iPod, you see the set up assistant/licensing agreement and of course you must click "agree" in order to proceed.
Then you'll be prompted to name the iPod and choose a method of auto syncing your iPod. If you want to manually mange the content of your iPod, remove the check mark from the auto sync option. Click "done" and that takes you to the registration screen. Then your done, and you can begin transferring music from your iTunes library.

  • Transfering From Mini Mac to Imac

Hi All - Happy New Year
I have recntly upgraded from a mini to imac G5 - I transfered the files as suggested using the set up software and a firewire cable which was a success. Only problem when I start my pc I have two finder windows open - one for the imac and one for the mini mac - how can I get rid of the mini mac screen.
    Many thanks

Or you could use Titanium Software's freeware OnyX (choose your download carefully, according to the Mac OS X version you have installed). Does a whole lot for freeware!
You can also use Cocktail (shareware), Cache Out X 4.6.1 (donationware) or Northern Softworks' Tiger Cache Cleaner (shareware).

  • Transfer music from mini to nano

Just bought a Nano today. How do I transfer music from my Mini to new Nano? Many thanks.

Well, the simple answer is to connect your nano to iTunes and just load your music from there.
However, from your post I suspect that the music is no longer in iTunes?
If that's so, then this link suggests methods to get it back from the iPod to your computer, and then, when it's back in iTunes, you can transfer it to the nano.

  • Transfering from ipod to nano

I just got the new nano and I want to put my music from my ipod onto it. I deleted most of my itunes to make space on my harddrive. How do I go about transfering my music to my nano without trying to download 5,000 songs?

You should use the instructions from this link to get your music from the iPod to iTunes. Senuti is pretty cool.
Once it's in iTunes, you can transfer it to the nano.

  • Transferring from mini to iMac

Looking to buy a 6 month old iMac from a friend and I'd like to know how difficult it is to copy some data from my mini to this iMac.  I'm concerned about those apps that I purchased from the app store - just wondering how to get those loaded on to this machine.  I plan on running both machine in the house, but I'd like to use the iMac for my more labour intensive programs like Motion and FCP.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Also, how does one wipe the info on the iMac so that I can start fresh?

Anything you download from the Apple Store likely has limited license agreements for your use.  Read them carefully. If selling a machine, read my FAQ*:

  • Transfering  from cd to nano ipod

My friend has an iPod nano and asked to use my computer to transfer from a cd to her ipod. nothing that i do will allow me to transfer from my playlist to her ipod. My ipod is a classic and i do not have any problems adding or removing anything. any tricks out ther?

That may be because your iPod classic is set to sync Entire music library, because it has enough capacity to hold your entire music library.  Therefore, any change you make to your iTunes music library gets synced to the iPod automatically.  Your iPod nano has more limited storage capacity, so it probably has different music sync settings.
Select the iPod nano in iTunes.  There is a row of "tabs" (starting with Summary).  Select Music there.  This is the Music tab, where you tell iTunes how to sync the iPod.  Sync Music is checkmarked for automatic syncing.
If your entire iTunes music library can fit on the nano, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, create your selection of songs below.  For example, if you want to keep it simple, create a new playlist in iTunes.  Put ALL songs you want on the iPod on that playlist, including those songs from CD.  Back on the Music tab, find and checkmark that new playlist under Playlists.
When you click Apply, your selection of songs on the Music tab syncs to the iPod, replacing its current content.  Going forward, any changes that are related to the Music tab settings sync automatically when you connect the iPod, or when you click Sync.  So, if there is a playlist with "iPod songs," you can just update that playlist (add and remove songs); iTunes updates the iPod with the same changes at the next opportunity.

  • I captured from mini-dv camcorder to FCP7 using control from my computer and firewire. I cannot find the file or clips I transferred anywhere except for in Finder. How do I get the clips from Finder to FCP7. Also I did not see audio on the computer meters

I captured from mini-dv camcorder to FCP7 using control from my computer. I only find the capture clip in Finder. How do I get the clip in Finder to FCP7.
Also my audio in the capture was not showing up on my audio meters on my computer-is this normal. Thanks

you will not see the audio meters from within fcp move while capturing.
If you only see the captured clip in the finder, not within fcp, there's something wrong.  You might try deleting your fcp preferences

  • Trouble transfering pictures from PC to nano

I followed the instructions and examples given in apple's manuals and websites. itunes shows that it is 'optimizing file' for nano. after it is done, the bottom right corner of itunes still shows ZERO photos and there is nothing for me to choose to view when i choose 'Photos' on my nano.
    I'm using windows XP.
    please help?

Hi , i have found transferring photos to the nano to be flawed, firstly i need at least 50mb free to transfer any , when they are on if i reconnect the nano with less than 50mb spare itunes deletes your photos and then complains it doesnt have any room for them on your nano!!!
I now just put them on and switch off photo sync, works for now.
