i have some games i would like to move to my i-book from my i-mac
how do i do it and what cables do i need etc........

Hello,
You could use a 6-pin FireWire cable to connect both machines together. Then, use Target Disk Mode to transfer the game / program to the other computer.
You would need a cable that has a 6-pin FireWire connector on both ends. They are pretty common.
As for how to use Target Disk Mode, you can find all the details here:

Once everything is setup, you can just copy the game from one machine to the other.
Now, this will only work if the game is completely self-contained. If it used an installer and placed files / support modules in different locations, then you will need to just re-install the game from the original CD onto the new machine.

Here's an easy way:
Pick the user that you want to eliminate (making sure that the remaining user has administrator privileges) and move all of the data that you want to keep into the Shared folder. Reboot or log out and login to the user you want to keep. Copy all the data from the Shared folder into your account - placing it neatly in folders (Documents, Music, Movies, etc.).
Once the data is moved, log into the account you want to delete just once more to make certain that you've grabbed all the data you want to keep. Log out and log back into your admin account and go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and delete the 'old' user.
That should do it.

I have problems transferring files from PC to Mac, and from Mac to Mac. PC to PC is fine. Nothing but problems with the Mac. One example:
While working on my PC, I open shared folders on an external HDD connected to the Mac. I click on paste to move the files. I get an error after a few seconds to a minute of trying to move several files from my PC Win 7 to Mac OS Maverick, that there is a file already at the destination on Mac. This statement is true, but it was just put there because I am copying them over in that same action. It reads 0Kb and wasn't there before I started. Then I get an error: The Action Cannot be completed because the folder is open in another program. Close the folder or file and try again..
Whether I click on it a bunch right of way or wait, it still takes about 45 seconds. I have to do it with every file and it only happens when copying from a PC to Mac. I have even restarted both computers so nothing is using any files. If I copy one file at a time, I don't get any error.
So I have one file to move, no problem. If move 5 files, The first will go fine, but it shows all 5 files in folder at once. All other files than the first show 0kb. I get the file already existing error once it starts the second file transfer, and I select move and replace. Then I get The Action Cannot be completed because the folder is open in another program. I wait or click repeatedly until it starts to move file. That file will then show something other than 0kb. When it is done, the error process starts all over. I tried checking the PC with unlocker, but the files do not show themselves locked on the PC.

Its not only French. Even certain characters in English will come across as gobblydegook from 1 platform to another. I see this in emails that likely were composed in Word & the characters don't come across.
Not sure if this is still true, but years ago someone explained that there is a standard character set & then I think its extended characters & those vary from platform to platform or language to language, etc.

got the new lion mountain version, but ever since then my 1 phone calendar appears to be transfered over to my 1 mac, how can 1 fix this, tks.

The calendar will also be transferred if you have iTunes set to sync the calendar or if you have both the iPhone and Mac set up to an Exchange or other shared service.

So i have purchased Borderlands 2 on the App store for my Mac recently and my friend has also purchased the app as well. He is currently downloading it on his Mac, but it is taking a really long time. So I am wondering if its possible to somehow transfer the whole game from my Mac to his? I tried moving the whole borderlands 2 app to his mac but it wouldnt run. So is there a way I could simply transfer only the game files, so his mac wouldn't have to download it or wouldnt cause an error to redownload? Thanks!!!

Apps purchased with your Apple ID will not run on someone else's Mac.
As far as the app taking a long time to download on your friend's Mac, the file download size is 10.74GB's. If he/she is using a slow internet connection say 5 to 10Mpbs, the file may time out before it can finish. Also, considering it's a 10+ GB file, tell your friend to make sure there's enough available disk space.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.

Transferring ipad photo albums to mac pro

Hi,
I have over 3000 pictures which are saved in individual albums on my ipad. I would like to transfer these albums to my mac pro. However it is only wanting to transfer the full 3000 pictures and not in their albums. It will then require me to meticulously put these pictures into albums on my mac. Is there any way of transferring the albums to my mac?

The programming is set-up with the logic that the albums on your iPad were transferred in from iTunes, so their isn't a way to move them to your computer through iTunes.
There are a number of 3rd party apps that do this, I have never used them myself but here is one that Google gave me for your problem

That's the problem, then. The files are under your 'old' user account. You should be able to access them if you log into your old account. However, that's not going to let you move them to your new user account. It's for situations like this that I always create a root user account (although I seldom access it). With a root user account, you can copy files from one user account to another. Note that someone may come up with a better idea than what I would use, but here goes.
Read http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1528 and set up a root user. Then you can transfer files from one account to another. If you like, you can delete this account after you've moved your files.

You can never, never transfer an installed copy of PSE. PSE is not a tidy package like most mac apps; the installer strews stuff all over your hard drive and neither you nor the migration assistant can ever hope to find all the necessary bits and pieces.
Now you have kind of a mess to clean up. First download and run this:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
It won't seem to do anything, but it's necessary in order for you to be able to successfully manually remove what did get transferred so that you can reinstall PSE.
Then go around and remove all the bits you can find, not only from applications but from your user>library>preferences and especially from hard drive>library>application support. Note that those are two different libraries.
Then you can reinstall PSE from scratch.
