Firefox 2 versions use the file bookmarks.html to store the bookmarks.

  • Transfer iTunes library from Mac to PC?

I need to transfer an iTunes library from a Mac to a PC. How do I do that? I thought I could just download iTunes and then connect the iPod to that PC and it would sink the music from the pod to the PC but no such luck. It is making me format the iPod because it had been previously connected to the Mac. I don't want to format it unless I can transfer the music somehow.

Type "move itunes library from mac to pc " into the google search bar.
You cannot use the ipod, as far as I know

  • I am transferring data from Mac to Mac it says I have 30 minutes left but that message has been there for a day.  What should I do

I am transferring data from Mac to Mac.  Message says 30 minutes left but has said that since yesterday. What do I do?

How are you transferring the data? Migration Assistant? How do you have the computers connected (wifi, Ethernet hub, FireWire, etc.)?
You may want to cancel the transfer and just see what data was transferred. You can always begin again if not all data has been transferred.

  • Transferring library from ipod touch to new mac

I am getting so aggravated. I am trying to transfer my old library from the ipod touch to my new 27in mac and it is not completely working. I transferred all of the stuff (movies, music, tv shows) from my ipod to the new mac and some of the movies & tv shows that I have WILL NOT WORK nor will they even transfer to my ipod! It keeps telling me that they are not authorized to play on the new mac, and then I go to authorize the computer (which was already done) and it tells me that 'this computer is already authorized' I am at a loss right now, this is about $50 down the drain, and it wont even let me just watch them on the computer because it is saying "not authorized" Can someone please help me? I don't get why some of the movies and stuff work and the others don't...

  • Transferring library from old PC to new MAC...problems

Hi, this is my first post as I am new to mac. I am trying to transfer my itunes library from my PC to my new mac, and I followed the instructions posted here to use your ipod to transfer music from one computer to another. At the very last step it says to connect ipod and it wants to sync it to an empty library on my new computer. If I copied the itunes folder from my old computer to my ipod, and then to my new computer into my Music folder, how to I get that into my itunes library on my new computer?
Thanks so much for any help to clarify this!

Click here, follow the instructions, and point iTunes to the location of the library you moved.

  • Transferring Library from Windows to Mac - Library does not show in iTunes

I've consolidated my iTunes library from my Windows PC to my iPod using the external hard drive option and following the instructions listed in iPod support on this site.
After copying the iTunes folder from my iPod to the Music folder on my new Mac, I'm not seeing the library appear in iTunes when I open it up.
Can someone give me any guidance?

should be an easy fix for you. On your Mac goto file add to library, then goto the folder where you moved the files to, hopefully it was the itunes music folder, just select the folder then click on choose at the bottom of the window and hopefully in a few minutes the problem will be solved.

  • Transferring library from old mac to new mac

My friend just got a new iMac and I'm going over there to help him set it up and transfer all his stuff from his old G4. What's the best most reliable way to transfer the iPhoto library and photos from an old G4 to a new iMac? Will putting the G4 in Firewrie Target mode and dragging the library and photos over to the new iMac work? I'm worried that all paths to the photos will be lost.
    G4
    Tiger 10.4.10
    iPhoto 5.0.4
    iMac
Most recent versions of Leopard and iPhoto
    Thank you for any help.

Yes, put the old Mac into FireWire Target Mode and then simply drag the Library from the Pictures Folder on the Old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new one. Then Launch iPhoto. That’s it. Iphoto will update the Library. Note: *There is no importing involved!*

  • Transferring Library from Old iPOD mini to new computer...

My computer was fried about a month ago. My company's IT department replaced it, but I lost my library of iTUNES entirely from the hard disk. The whole library is of course on my old iPOD mini. I want to transfer the library from the old iPOD mini to my new computer and then, in turn, to my new NANO - which I am very excited about. I have installed the nano and the iTUNEs on my new computer. I am fearful that if I plug my old iPOD mini into the new computer, with the blank library, that it will erase the iPOD mini library. HELP!

DO NOT attach & sync your full iPod to an empty iTunes!!!
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Windows software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
Extremely Simple Method: (just to recover the song files)
    1 - Open iTunes
    2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- Select ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- Select ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
2c --- Click OK to store changes
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
    5 – Within iTunes: File=>Add Folder
6 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ (click on the ‘+’) and select the iPod
    7 - Click OK
8 - The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes
8a –- this will take some time depending on your PC and the amount of songs on the iPod
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, & Play Count attributes will be transferred from the iPod to iTunes using this method
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?
Here is a post on developing a thorough backup strategy:

  • Transferring library from pc; duplicate files and missing playlist

I know this can't be a new topic but I'm having trouble finding a solution. I am very frustrated as I've been working all morning on this and I suspect there is an easy solution.
My new i-mac arrived yesterday. I'm transferring my itunes library from a pc. I have my entire hard drive backed up on an external drive.
I have copied the music from the external hard drive to the imac, then imported the music into itunes. No matter how I approach this I end up with duplicate copies of every song in tunes and no playlists. I've tried copying just the file I thought controlled playlists, I get the playlist name but a message that songs were not imported b/c they could not be found.
Is there an easier way to tackle this? Thanks.

I figured this out on my own. Closing out.

  • Transferring files from mac to mac on snow leopard

I have a white macbook with snow leopard, i have purchased a new aluminum macbook with leopard. upgraded the new one to snow leopard and now want to transfer files (music, photos, settings, apps etc) from mac to mac.
I was using migrant assistant, after completion it it transferred a small portion of photos about 10%, and thats it. I was using an ethernet cable to connect them together. none of my settings or documents transferred either. Is this the only way to complete this transfer and if so, has anyone got any tips or had this problem?
Otherwise I'm looking at using a memory stick and doing it the long way.
    thanks

    greetings gary !
you could connect your Macs by firewire cable and start up the white MB in target disk mode. this will probably be the fastest way.
as for your music, suggest you drag & drop your entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder) to the proper location on the alu Mac (replacing the iTunes folder in that location - which, i assume, is void of content at the moment). launch iTunes and you should find everything as you were used to on the white MB.
alternatively, if you have a suitably sized iPod, you could use that. click here for instructions.
for everything else, check this user tip about where important data is stored (one correction to this link:
ical data is stored in ~/library/calendars).

  • Transferring Podcasts from Mac to PC

My iPod is in the shop, so I'd like to transfer all my podcasts from my Mac (where the iPod is usually docked) to my PC (where I do most of my daily work). The computers are networked, so there shouldn't be a problem copying the files, should there? But I am having trouble. Is there an easy way to do this without my iPod, or should I just re-subscribe to all my podcasts through the iTunes store?

An iPhone is not PC or Mac formatted.
She will need to transfer her iTunes library from her Mac to the PC. You can have more than one iTunes library on the same computer. Assuming she will have her own computer login account on the PC, her iTunes library transferred from her Mac can be placed under her computer login account on the PC. This will probably be the best way to do this if you have different iTunes accounts.
Follow the instructions included with this link for transferring her iTunes library from her Mac to the PC. The same would apply in the reverse.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
If you share the same iTunes account and she only wants to transfer the iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from her iPhone to your iTunes library on the PC, with her iPhone connected to iTunes on the PC and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of her iPhone. This will include all music purchased from the iTunes store that is on her iPhone, and all 3rd party apps - all paid and free apps.

  • Importing iTunes Library from Mac to PC

I am going on extended travel and want to move my itunes library from my Mac Desktop to my PC Notebook. How do I transfer my library from the itunes MacOS environment to the PC Windows XP Pro environment?

Welcome to discussions, new Mac convert! I've been a convert for about 7 months now & I think you will be very happy. Anyway, there are 2 database files associated with your library that contain all your ratings, playlists, counts, etc. that must be transferred also, so that you can recover everything. The following link explains about these 2 files, .xml & .itl, & they are contained within the iTunes folder. Hope this helps!
