Transfering M4A Podcast files to Zen X

Does Anybody know how to transfer M4A Extension Podcast?Files to the Zen X-Fi. Whenever i try to Transfer an M4A Podcast through Zencast to my player it comes up saying that it cannot convert it cus i am missing a Required Codec. Can anyone Help?

Like everyone else, after installing the Creative MediaSource software and installing all the updates and upgrades I was only able to transfer a handful of files and then couldn't. I also purchased the Notmad Uni'versal version it wouldn't work either. However, after (on the Nomad, NOT the PC) cleaning, formatting, reinstalling the OS, and rebooting (this takes only seconds), I tried using copying files from one Windows Explorer window to another...and it worked. Keep in mind, this is just from two Windows Explorer windows and NOT from Creative MediaSource or Notmad Explorer. They woudn't work. If everything was installed correctly with the newest firmware and software upgrades, the Nomad device should appear in Device Manager and Enabled and without errors. The Nomad should also show up as a Nomad icon in My Computer. Formatting earlier also wiped out the music that came with the Nomad but that's OK. This method also doesn't require you to alter any tags you've previously made. Hope this helps anyone out there who had the same grief I initially had. I am now happy with the Nomad.

  • Problem transferring JVC Everio HD Camcorder Video files to ZEN 1

I can't seem to succesfully transfer video files recorded by my JVC Everio hard dri've camcorder to my ZEN. The files as originally downloaded from camcorder to PC are?.MOD format which is not visible to ZEN Explorer as a videofile and will not convert at all. I?changed the file extension to .AVI?and these are now visible and will convert and transfer, but?cannot be played by my ZEN.
Has anybody else had similar problems, or?does anybody have any suggestions?p.s. I have succesfully transfered other video files including AVI files?recorded using my Fuji stills camera.

welcome batman to the  board ...
well... the iApps iMovie and iDVD are meant to work
    with firewire connected miniDV camcorders...
you lose the convenience of the iApps... anyhow:
    Streamclip
(free) is the weapon of choice, in case, your
    HDcorder stores as mpeg1...
for mpeg2 conversion, you need additionally the Apple
    mpeg2 plugin (20$) ...
    helpful?
    Thanks for the quick response!
Well, I think they are in mpeg2 format, but not positive. Anyway, I did away with miniDV camcorders because they transfer much slower to the computer than the HD camcorder...but now I get this issue! lol I guess that's what I get for switching to a Mac!
Is there any other way besides the $20 plugin to convert the file? Will the plugin lose any quality in the conversion process?

  • How to transfer podcast to my Zen X-Fi2 using Zencast Organizer?

    @Hi all,
I was wondering if there is anyway to transfer podcasts to my Zen X-fi2 using Zencast? Every time I try to transfer files I receive an error message stating to connect my player. The problem is that my player is already connected. How can I correct this problem?

Go to the website where the file you want is, and right click on the link for the file. Click on the save target as option, and choose a name for the file and where you want it to go on your hard dri've. Later connect the player to the computer and use Windows Explorer(right click on the start button then click on explore) to drag and drop the file to the player.

Why is my external hd & flash drive locking up when transfering .m4a?
I recently upgraded my software to 10.6.3 on my iMac Intel Core 2 Duo. When I transfer movie files specifically to my USB flash drive and external hard drives, they now cause my imac to freeze. If the file size is larger than 500K I experience this problem.
    What is the issue?

They are formated as MS-DOS Fat

I have all my music on an external hard drive. I just transferred all my files to a new hard drive . How do I sync all my files with my itunes library without losing all my playlists etc and keep everything intact?

Launch iTunes with the Option key held down, click on Choose Library, and specify it. If the external drive doesn't contain the iTunes database files, create a new library there and import that music.
If the library contains any rented movies, they won't play on a different computer.

  • ITunes 9 no longer supports iPod to sync playlists made with podcast files

With the last iTunes upgrade my iPod can't recognize those playlists I had previously created with podcasts files downloaded using iTunes. They just have disappeared from the list in the section Playlists of my old iPod 5G. The same occurs with a new iPod Touch 3G, thus it seems to be related with some change in my computer's software rather than the iPod.
With this last v.9 upgrade all my old podcasts had also disappeared from the section Podcasts but I eventually I could find the cause and fixed it: By default iTunes 9 is configured so that those podcasts which have been totally or partially listened are not synchronize. This can be easily modified opening the Podcasts tab in the iTunes device settings and change the options in 'Sync Podcasts'.
I'd really appreciate I could transfer again my podcast playlists to my iPod. I find rather disappointing to lose the iPod feature I've probably being used most frequently during the last 3 years. It'd thank anyone who could tell me some way to go around this constriction. Otherwise I hope this feature to be supported by iTunes in future upgrades.

I noticed that the same topic was posted in September as an iPhone issue. The discussion also centered around smart playlists. Although a few workarounds were posted, mostly involving changing the podcast genre to "Music" from "Podcast", I have not been able to sync these playlists.
I want to simply create a playlist with podcasts and sync these playlists to my ipod Touch. This is handy, if not essential, for safe enjoyment of my podcasts while driving.
Is Apple considering a fix for this ?! Or is there a workaround ?

  • I accidentally transferred all my files onto my desktop and now it won't let me do anything.

    WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE.
I accidently transferred all my files onto the desktop (I missed the folder it was supposed to go into) and now my iMac is frozen after about a minute of starting up.
It freezes too quickly for me to be able to transfer all the files back.
So now there are 5961 items on my desktop.
    What can I do!?

#1 reason to keep a backup.  Human error!
Try booting in safe mode with the shift key.
Wait for all the icons to appear and go to the Finder menu -> New Finder window.
Navigate to your desktop folder in the Finder window, and Use View menu -> View by icon, and arrange by type.
Move any applications back into your Applications folder.
Create an untitled folder on your desktop.   Drag the rest of the items in the desktop folder to the untitles folder by doing a select all, and command-click the untitled folder, and then drag those items into the untitled folder.
Then you should be able to reboot normally and cleanup the untitled folder.

  • Is there a way to access my iTunes Library, which is stored on a (PC) External Hard Drive, on a MacBook Air (through an Apricorn Universal Hard Drive Adapter), without transferring the music files off of the external hard drive?

Is there a way to access my iTunes Library, which is stored on a (PC) External Hard Drive, on a MacBook Air (through an Apricorn Universal Hard Drive Adapter), without transferring the music files off of the external hard drive?
In other words, because the MacBook Air only has 120 gbs of hard drive space & my old hard drive, from a Lenovo, has 500 gbs of hard drive space (and I have over 120 gbs of music), I’m looking to manage my iTunes music from the external hard drive permanently. Upon attempting to access the iTunes library held on the external hard drive the following message comes up: “The iTunes Library.itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file”.  Is there a way to get around this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much!

You will have to engage a split library which means you will have to start answering questions on this forum because you will need to learn a lot about how iTunes works in order not that have a big mess at the end of it all.  It also won't be easy when the time comes to relocate it all to different drives.
You can go to advanced preferences and turn off organize media and copy to items to media folder when adding items to library.  Next read about how to selectively consolidate items to the external drive.

"...selected the new tracks directly in iTunes, Control-clicked on the selection, and saw that now you can consolidate selected items." - http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20090919000326840
Remember that when you start iTunes without the external drive turned on iTunes will present you with a bunch of broken links.  If you have automatic downloads enabled with iCloud you may have to turn that off to prevent iTunes from repopulating your drive trying to deal with those "missing" tracks.
If you add tracks in bunches to iTunes and want them to go to different media folders you will need to either add them by holding down the option key while dragging if the desired media folder is not the one set in preferences, or by changing the media folder in preferences.  Changing media folder preferences only applies to new files added, not old ones.
Okay, I am going to stop typing because you might just reply to me, "Oh, okay, forget it," and I don't need the exercise.

  • I transferred a pages file from ipad to mac (also pages) via email for editing. However received message that cannot save edited document to the mac because "trial period has expired for iwork"! I have purchased pages for both machines separately. Ideas?

I transferred a pages file from ipad to mac (also pages) via email for editing. It opened normally. However, after editing, received message that cannot save edited document to the mac because "trial period has expired for iwork"! I have purchased pages for both machines separately and presumed they would work without a hitch. Am I missing something?

It used to be that to update the trial to the licensed version with the box, you just inserted the DVD & ran the installer to convert the trial to licensed. This changed with Snow Leopard. You now need to delete the trial & then reinstall from the boxed DVD or the Mac App Store. The files to delete are the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications; the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support & the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library > Preferences for each user.
Yvan Koenig has written an AppleScript that removes the files. You can find it on his iDisk in For_iWork > iWork '09 > uninstall iWork '09.zip.

  • Embedding "album cover" image in a video podcast file

I've created a video podcast and successfully submitted it to ITMS. The issue is that the individual episodes of my video podcast do not have cover art images associated with them. Instead, when I test subscribed to my video podcast, it generated an "album cover" for the podcast in a seemingly random fashion. For the first episode, it grabbed a still frame from second 6 of the .m4v file. and for the second episode, it grabbed a still frame from second 11 of the .m4v file.
So, I thought I would go into the .m4v file via QTPro and create an image metadata association like is done with ID3 tags in .mp3 files. However, I cannot find a away to do that.
Does anyone know how to embed an "album cover" image into a video podcast file (.m4v file)?
If I add an image to the file via iTunes Get Info>Art Work tab and then export it back to my server, will the added image stay embedded in the .m4v file so that when others subscribe to my video podcast they will see my selected "album" artwork for that episode?
You can view my video podcast at http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=83434502

    Super Mario:
You were correct. Adding album artwork through iTunes "Get Info>Art Work" tab and then exporting my video podcast file back out to my server did the trick. I tested subscribing to it and this time my video podcasts had the album artwork that I selected attached to them.
Also, thank you for the compliment on my sci-fi video podcasts. I'm currently working on a major overhaul of the website which will serve the fans of the series (if any). You can check it out in about two days at http://www.sayremedia.com.

  • How do I repair a broken M4A audio file?

I used the program Audio hijack Pro to capture some audio of a Skype conversation. But in the middle of the conversation AHP crashed, and I'm left with an incomplete and corrupt m4a audio file. It is 6,7MB big, which indicates to me that the audio is still there, but not accessible. No program I tried can open the file or repair it.
I tried vlc, quicktime, soundtrack pro, windows media player, fission, audacity and some smaller tools like BeSliced...
Please help, I don't want to loose 30 minutes of speech recording!

If your presentation is such that you want to recover it rather than reconstruct it, you could consult the Apple documentation on the Keynote document structure. That said, I have never had much luck directly editing the XML file, and I have grave doubts about the efficiency of such an endeavour. If you do go about it, I would first try deleting all but one slide from the XML file, and see if you can get the presentation to open at all, then build up the file from there. (Obviously you should first make a copy of the presentation and keep that separate before editing the XML files.)

  • Podcast file to "normal" mp3 file

    Please ...
Is it possible to change the podcast file into an MP3 "normal" file and see it in the Library window ?
    Thanks
    Gil

    Further development....
If the file has the ID3v2 removed, via mp3rage etc, then it also returns to a normal file. I have done a few tests on iTunes downloaded podcasts, and this does work. However you also lose lots of extra info, such as long titles and descriptions in the lyrics or comments sections, plus artwork.
This is a bit of a pain, but you can copy and paste between old and new file with mp3rage. Slow, but better than clipped info.
So copy the files to a new folder.
drag folder to edit multiple files tags
set ID3v2 to none, ID3v1 to 1.1 and check both boxes & change genre - click update.
now set ID3v2 tag to v2.2.0 and click update.
copy and paste any info you want between old and new files via iTunes and/or mp3rage.
    delete old files.
I'm certain this works, and is easy if you don't have long names or need the extra tag info.
